381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Bought More BTC on: September 25, 2023, 02:01:17 PM
Michael Saylor bought around 5,445 more BTC.

The amount is not that much, but still, if it will be used for holding purposes then the demand will increase oversupply. Simple as that. How many of you found it a good news?
Micro Strategy won't buy Bitcoin forever, they will sell it to take profit or just to take part of their investment capital back when they need cash for their business.

More details of Micro Strategy investment history in Bitcoin.

They got more new capital from investors and they used part of those new capital to buy bitcoin. If their new capital flow is broken, they will stop or reduce their intensity of Bitcoin buying and they will sell in either of possible scenarios aforementioned, taking profit or needing cash.
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Single vs Shamir vs Multisig, which is easiest to hack statistically? on: September 24, 2023, 03:17:07 PM
You should create 10/10 multisig wallet and 24 word seed for each wallet in order to be completely safe.
Common, you are going to extremes.

With that wallet, when you lose one co-signer wallet, you are done. Done means losing your bitcoin. I will not go with this extreme method.

Backup a single signature wallet safely is safe enough for me. If I want more, I will create 2/2 multisig wallet and backup safely, that is safer for me but I will not go with 10/10 multisig wallet.
383  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: KYC matter? on: September 24, 2023, 03:10:01 PM
Of course, KYC matters!
If you do not submit your KYC, the platform may freeze your account and confiscate the available balance. If you care about your privacy, do not use such platforms which ask for KYC.
If that exchange is not scam and does not plan to scam customers, they will announce their KYC policy change and give their customers enough time to decide one of two options:
- Withdraw all money, refuse to complete KYC.
- Submit KYC, finish it and use full service of the exchange.

But as a customer, when you see such KYC announcement and given time to withdraw your fund, you should withdraw all your funds first. Then if you like, you can submit KYC and wait for approval. If your KYC is completed successfully, you can deposit your fund again.

But Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

No-KYC Exchange Encyclopedia. Centralized exchanges are not recommended like people in a nation that bans Bitcoin and cryptocurrency but your national policy can change in future too. Bookmark that thread for future use is not time-wasting.
385  Other / Meta / Re: Request for sent merit edit button on: September 23, 2023, 02:09:05 PM
Your suggestion is nice
Not actually nice. It will make ranks more complicated. You rank up when having enough merit for a new rank, then someone demerit you, and you drop off, do you like it?

It is less important and serious than how managers will pick participants. Their works to select participants for campaigns will be more difficult when applicant's earned merits can change quickly by demerit.

Quote
it's just as similar as . Ignore user confirmation before ignoring . This is where someone mistakenly adds another user to his ignore list without his knowledge, which leads him to make a suggestion for confirmation notification before approving the ignore list. If there is any chance that they can give this a second thought and consider it, then there will be possibilities of your suggesting to also be added to the to-do list of the admin, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
It is not similar, ignore a user can be done by yourself and it won't affect anyone else, only you. Nobody knows you ignore that user, this user or not, only you know it and it does not affect your rank or chance to join any signature campaign.

It's different than merit and demerit.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using change addresses does not increase privacy, just fees on: September 22, 2023, 11:38:32 PM
You don't pay addition fee when you use change address because the output will be only the receiver's address and your sending address (if you don't use change address) or your change address, same outputs I mean.

What is the "Change" address on bitcoin wallet ? read to know !

387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hate speech and it impacts on bitcoin on: September 22, 2023, 11:33:30 PM
Hate speech including sayings like "Bitcoin is dead" and how many times people have tried to add it to Bitcoin obituaries.

Fortunately since 2009, with about less than 500 times to be attacked with hate speech, Bitcoin is not dead. It survives and even has been becoming stronger and I see other things, a better future for Bitcoin rather than dead.

The bullish case for Bitcoin and there is a discussion about it too.

388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Qualifiers on: September 22, 2023, 02:38:17 PM
Brighton's results were quite surprising because they are usually quite strong when playing at the Falmer Stadium (American Express Stadium). 76% possession of the ball but Brighton was only able to score a goal from a penalty because a penalty rewards and AEK, who had very little possession of the ball, managed to maximize the opportunities they had, maybe Brighton were nervous? because this is his first appearance in the European league.
Brighton still played well in Premier League but they did not bring this form to Europa League. I understand it as many of their players are not familiar with Europa League.I It's very difference feeling and experience when you move from a national league to Europa League. It's harder to play in Europe as they have less knowledge about the opponent and mistakes in Europe can be punished straightly, not like in domestic league.

Not only AEK but other clubs in Europa League can beat Brighton if they make mistakes in any match. In cup format like Europa League, it is different than Premier League, two or three bad matches, then you go home and wait for another chance next seasons.

I don't understand why, but Liverpool didn't have their main squad of players in this match. Lask was able to score a goal for that reason alone. I guess Kloop thought it would be an easy game, but later he had to make a lot of changes to correct the losing situation. Fortunately Liverpool were able to confirm their status as favourites in the second half, but the game turned out to be a bit risky.
Liverpool do not need to keep their clean sheet and get a draw. They did their job well by winning the match even the goalkeeper got one conceded goal. The final result is how many point you get from a match is more important than how many goals you score in that match.

The result against LASK is good in result too as you can call it as a big win for Liverpool, not too big but not a minimal win.
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Bug or Fat Finger Reason for the Bitcoin’s 87% Drop in 2021 on: September 22, 2023, 02:22:51 PM
Binance US. is a branch of Binance and is smaller than Binance in trading volume so some artificial manipulations can be done. Exchanges do those manipulations a lot to kill their users who use leverages.

Price can recover quickly after liquidation kills but it can be part of a long correction. And you talk about Long squeeze, you must talk about short squeeze too but it is more related to exchanges with big trading volume. Sometimes you will see news that Bitcoin pumps to $200k or $500k else where and of course it is on unpopular exchange with small trading volume.

390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 22, 2023, 11:17:07 AM
Yeah, you are right, OP. Definitely, the reason why investors hold their Bitcoin is for the purpose of selling during a bull market when the APY on their investment is up to what they expect
Investment comes from profit incentivization, not from funny experience. It is natural to wait for chances to take profit with all investors.

Quote
but it will be effortless for someone to hold their investment carelessly and lose it to hackers. Some people, too, after holding for a long time, would just make small mistakes, which can just cause them to be compromised, and before they knew it, they had lost their investment.
Mistakes come from the beginning, how they store bitcoin. Their bitcoin is stolen because things happened in the past, from decisions to store bitcoin on online accounts, in custodial wallets, hot wallets. What we see after a hack happened looks simple but the real cause is hidden far in the past.

391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Repayment Deadline Increased for the MT Gox Exchange’s Creditors on: September 21, 2023, 11:27:21 AM
According to the cointelegraph, the trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi has changed the repayment date by 1 year.
Shake my head when I read this. Again, it happens again. Delay again and again, years already.

Will Mt.Gox victims receive their coins back after all those delays?

I doubt it but even those victims receive their bitcoins, Bitcoin market will be big enough to absorb those bitcoins if they are all sold on the market. Assume victims will receive coins in October 2024, there will be more FUD about it around that month. Assume distribution will be made, you must bookmark that article and that date to avoid likely fud attacks around that time, next year.

It's important for you to cash out before that date or to prepare capital to buy dips.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What really is affected by hard fork? on: September 21, 2023, 10:49:33 AM
Technically an altcoin that copies bitcoin is a "fork" not a "hard fork".
Hard or soft are the characteristics of the forks done inside the same blockchain/project where you also remain in that chain after the fork is done. Otherwise if it becomes a separate chain it is an altcoin which can be created through both soft and hard fork. For example right now you can introduce version 3 witness program rules (which is a soft fork) but create an altcoin by forking off to a separate chain.
They are scam forks to say accurately.

They borrow the Bitcoin blockchain, its past blocks and transactions from the public ledger to make their scam altcoins look more valuable and more easily to convince investors that forks from Bitcoin are safer than altcoins that are not forks.

They all dead forks and shitcoins.

How many Bitcoin forks are there?. Because that scam trend no longer works, scammers stop to use forks to scam but I am not surprise if in future, more forks will be created.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do crypto gateways compare to traditional methods in security & efficiency? on: September 21, 2023, 10:43:45 AM
As for the other cryptos, we've seen reports and news that many of them have been 51% attacked and hacked. And to be fair for the traditional payment systems, they also have their own bad days but I think if we're going to compare them. It is that the traditional ones are more trusted by many because there will be an accountable company if ever something messed up.
Smart contract projects have many hacks and people use those platforms lost a lot of money in those hacks and investment in those scam tokens.

Proof of Work altcoins are less secure than Bitcoin because their networks have very lower hash rate that cause their networks are more vulnerable to 51% attacks.

If you wonder how more vulnerable to 51% attacks of Proof of Work altcoins, you can get some estimations from How many confirmations are equivalent* to 6 Bitcoin confirmations?

If I make an on-chain transaction, I choose Bitcoin blockchain to do this.
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did anyone notice this pattern? on: September 20, 2023, 02:23:12 PM
2012 halving - New ATH reached around 1 year after
2016 halving - New ATH reached around 1.5 years after
2020 halving - New ATH reached around 1.5 years after

I know that there are multiple reasons for Bitcoin reaching a new ATH. I do understand that cannot be based on the law of averages. What do you guys think, Is the law of average work here or I am just speculating it?
New all time highs in the past usually occur 1 year or a little bit longer after a halving because halving is a stimulation for Bitcoin to appear more on media. It helps Bitcoin to be expose to more people and bring them as well as their capital to Bitcoin market.

It won't be seen after one night because people need time to research, have belief on something they hear of a first time, and surely need time for consideration before spending money to invest in Bitcoin. 1 year or 1.5 years, it is not too long but because you can not know where is the top, new all time high and even when it occurs, you can use past halving cycles and time needed to reach a new all time high for your plan to take profit in 2024 and 2025 bull run.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.org indefinitely forbidden from serving whitepaper and client to UK on: September 20, 2023, 11:56:04 AM
The court ruled in favor of Wright because Cobra chose to remain anonymous and did not defend himself.
Staying anonymous does not mean that person is not the real author of a document. Cobra does not need to prove he is the author of Bitcoin white paper to use it until Satoshi Nakamoto can claim it.

Craig Wright appeared publicly and tried to claim he is Satoshi Nakamoto, failed to prove it but somehow he could win the lawsuit and claimed the Bitcoin Whitepaper belongs to him.

The result of lawsuit, ruled in favor of Craig Wright is hilarious. It is like law means nothing even in a long developed country like the UK.

After four years, something weird happened. US Copyright Office Says It Does Not ‘Recognize’ Craig Wright as Satoshi

397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: September 19, 2023, 11:34:04 AM
I think it's a great group and except for PSG all the other three teams can be said to be of the same level, and in matches with PSG other teams can also gain points.  Newcastle returns to the Champions League after a long break and given that the match is important for them, I think they will play at 100%, although Milan after the derby must also win and return the faith of fans. In general, the game will be extremely interesting, but I think it will probably end in a draw, with goals and sharp attack
Did you imply that PSG are better than other three clubs in the group?

I doubt it is true because in the past season, PSG did not go farther than AC Milan. In this season, their quality becomes worse after some star players like Messi, Neymar, Verratti left their club. AC Milan, Dortmund and Newcastle United are good enough to fight fairly with PSG. They even can send PSG to France after 6 matches in this group if PSG won't exit their crisis soon and continue their bad form from Ligue 1 to Champions League.

I thought they would have taken advantage of the wealth of the owners to buy a lot of new players who had a high level but that didn't happen. I think it's this problem that makes them unable to compete with other big EPL teams. They are not as good as last season for the start of this season. It looks like the game against Milan is the first UCL since 10 years ago. With the current conditions, I also guess if Milan are more favourites to win. They will also play at San Siro. Maybe Milan can win 2-0.
PSG did not have good strategy for their club from transfers, tactics to management to solve internal problems and prevent conflicts to become big barriers of their club and cooperation of their players and coach.

PSG are similarly rich like Manchester City but two clubs have very different growth strategies that lead to different results. Manchester City were patiently to support Pep Guardiola and gave their coach very big power to manage players. In PSG, many coaches came and went away but they did not receive enough support from PSG and players even had bigger voice and power than coaches. With such relationships of players and coach, PSG can not have an united, strong and competitive team.
398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: September 18, 2023, 02:54:05 PM
Even though they won by 7 goals, it doesn't change the fact that it was Roma first win of the season, Empoli were weak enough that Roma were able to dominate the game throughout the match. In line with you, the consistency of Mourinho squad is very poor, their performance is like a roller coaster in the standings. The victory that I think Mourinho has been waiting for so far, Lukaku managed to score his first goal for Roma while he is on loan.
A win is a win and three points are three points that are more important for AS Roma after they got only one point in first three matches with 1 draw and 2 losses. The big win or a minimal win only helps Roma to have three points and can not lift them up too much on the table but it is a good reverse of their performance. The international break with two weeks helps Roma to change a little bit.

Looking further than just this result, Roma did had a better operation and it's good to see newcomers like Christensen, Lukaku, Paredes and Renato Sanchez have better adaptation and performances for Roma. It's good signal for a more powerful squad for Roma in this season. They did not spend too much money in the summer transfer market but they did cleverly and successfully got some good players to improve their squad.

Quote
The fourth week of Serie A had lots of surprises, including Inter victory over Milan with a large number of goals. If I'm not mistaken, the EUFA ranking places Serie A in third position, in first place is the EPL and second is La Liga, the best version of the League.
That is a terrible defeat for AC Milan and it's shameful defeat for them. It will be marked in history as one of their worst derbies and this defeat means AC Milan lost 5 times under Inter Milan just in one single year 2023.
399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: September 18, 2023, 02:45:06 PM
Both the teams will try their best to win this match but the result of the match will go in favor of those who perform better on the field. I don't want to miss betting on Bayern Munich in this match. If I refrain from betting on Bayern Munich in this match, I feel I will lose the profit. As far as I can tell, Bayern Munich will win this match. Manchester United have not been at their best this season. The Red Devils have had a poor start to the Premier League as well as key players being banned, meaning the club are going through a tough time overall.
Bayern Munich are stronger than Manchester United and they will have a home match against Manchester United. Considering their forms so far in this season, Bayern Munich are better too. Even they will not have Thomas Tuchel for this match because of a suspension from the past season, it will affect their power a lot.

Manchester United shown that they still have many problems and weaknesses and they rely too much on Bruno Fernandez. If Bayern Munich can constrain Bruno Fernandez, Manchester United will be like a harmless opponent in Bavaria.

Quote
The timing of the first half is very important, if a team leads the game in the first half, it will be difficult for the opposite team to come back in the match, so in this match, Bayern Munich will definitely want to keep Manchester United under pressure from the beginning.
I don't think so, this is a big match between two big clubs with many star players. Match-changing moment can happen very early or lately but I think Manchester United will not be able to fight against Bayern Munich attacking too long. Hope that they will not lose beat and collapse in this match as Manchester United defense has habit to be destroyed in a bad match.
400  Other / Meta / Re: Encouraging non-lazy PM subjects (SMF patch) on: September 18, 2023, 08:07:58 AM
From what I understood, it’s an one line change on the code... Not too troublesome. And it’s not like this makes anyone’s life harder, people already put subjects on emails.

The reason I think people forget to put a subject on their PMs is not laziness, but the fact that almost no one changes the subject of their posts (it’s usually “Re: <title of the OP”), so some people treat PMs as another post, just sent privately, and press send after writing the message.
The issue, if any user sees it as an issue, comes from an initial PM sender. If a sender sends a PM without PM title, very likely the receiver will reply on it without any title, without any change in PM title.

I agree that receiving such no-title PMs is annoying and I can be an old person to hate it, not only in Bitcointalk but also in emails. Emails without titles look very odds and shows the senders are lazy people. I also consider senders as disrespectful people against the receivers.

Improve your email subject line. Those tips to write a catchy email subject line can be used for Bitcointalk PM title too. Actually we don't need catch title, but at least to inform receivers what are issues in the email for discussions. The PM title is important.
