381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 16, 2023, 10:52:23 AM
And this is what I have been saying about Casimero: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL_f0RZGeiQ

He might end up with nothing if he stops fighting because he just give his money away and this the problem not just with Casimero. All other boxers in the past lost their money this way. Didn't save some for them and in the end, all those that they help disappear.

I have seen this video also in his own vlog account and I could that it is just a penny to what he earned on the Oguni fight, besides the amount he gives was not so big and most of the recipients are his relatives so it is not so alarming that he do that.

I'm sure that Casimero knew the consequences if he became broke and he already saved for his future if we take a closer look at his lifestyle, it is not as lavish as Manny's when he was beginning to earn millions of dollars. Gambling is one cause for a man to go broke, if Casimero gambles irresponsibly then that might bring him down.

Will lock the thread in a few hours and as usual thanks for all of your comments guys.

I still hope that the door to Inoue vs Casimero fight is still open so the business between them will be over.
382  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 16, 2023, 07:06:55 AM
It looks like the PBA will indeed start on November 5, 2023, as the timer is already counting down the right number of days remaining. As we can see on their official website, the next game is set to start in 19 days. This means there's plenty of time for our players to enjoy their vacation and relax with their families, because when they return, the season is sure to be hectic in terms of the schedule.

Brownlee is probably still in the US, but it can't be easy for him to learn that he tested positive for an illegal substance, especially after winning a gold medal. But that's life; he has to accept the result. What's important is that the medals were not taken back.

https://pba.ph/

Yup, November 5 is the opening date of the PBA and AFAIR, this is the longest time that I have not seen the PBA due of its FIBA and ASIAD campaign but it is worth the wait because we've got the gold medal in the Asian Games.

With regards to Brownlee's issue, do you guys have an idea whether he will be suspended in the coming PBA or not? I can't remember if Kiefer Ravena was suspended but i do remember that he was suspended on FIBA sanction games for two years but in the PBA, I don't remember.

Nonetheless, this issue is not a big deal for PBA fans as it is not a performance enhancing drugs so this issue will die very soon hehe.
383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 16, 2023, 06:49:54 AM
Yes, and Tapales already gave a warning to Inoue already, ‘I’ll be your biggest nightmare’.

Tapales is trying to be like Casimero. The guy has some confidence to say to Inoue that he is his biggest nightmare. He can say anything he wants, but I'm hoping he'll back it up with his performance. I don't want to see a boxer who's no different from Inoue's past opponents, who were afraid to engage and fought just to survive.

No one gonna buy that knowing that Casimero in prime is at different level, but I love the confidence of the guy since he really want to get the nerve of Inoue but we all know here that the Japanese guy have the advantage in all aspect. But let see if there's a surprise will happen and Tapales will be the one declared as a winner since for sure this will create a big noise on boxing scene knowing that many fans believe that Tapales will lost on their match.

I also don't know if he have enough preparation so lets see if he can able to last at round 12 since if he take all slow and let Inoue dominate him maybe we cannot see him last for long rounds knowing that Inoue is always looking for early knock out to make the fight not last for more long rounds.

Preparation-wise, Tapales has been training for almost two months now in the US with regards to his fight with Inoue, that's how prepared he was considering that the fight will tentatively happen on December 26, more than two months from now. I could say that Tapales has the confidence now because it is not easy to unify two belts and he got it with passion.

Back to Casimero, coming from the word of his promoter that the Inoue fight that they are chasing might not take place anymore due to Casimero's consecutive lack-luster performance. We can't blame them as their ward was not fighting to the hype he was given.

Bad news for TNT Katropa fans, especially to the fans of Roger Pogoy. He was diagnosed with myocarditis, a rare heart disease and per report he will be out for the next three to four months and most probably, he will not be seeing action on this 48th season of the PBA.

TNT Katropa might not depend their crown as they are having these personal issues of their players. Pogoy out, then there is this rumors that Mikey Williams won't be back in the PBA as he might be pasturing a greener pasture in Japan, these not sounds good to coach Jolas.

386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 14, 2023, 10:14:18 AM
Yes, for sure Inoue has seen this fight already and he himself is not impressed by the performance of Casimero to the point that maybe he is no longer wants to fight him. And even if Casimero win against Oguni, given the fact with the way he handle himself, with no stamina and he was hit by Oguni, I do agree that his current condition is not enough to defeat the Monster.

Inoue right now is a complete package, and chances are very high that we will be the 2nd man to have two unified belt. The first one is Crawford, at 140 lbs and 147 lbs. And Inoue with his scheduled fight against Tapales this December. Casimero will have to go home enjoy his pay check but somewhat will have to think about his career at time is running out for him.

For now, it is safe to say that Inoue vs Casimero is out of the picture with that horrible performance, and what makes it worse is the statement of Casimero after the fight that seems to me that he was just there to take the money and not minding if the fight fans were enjoying the show.

I've read an article that says the fight between Tapales and Inoue might be on December 26, seems legit as both guys are hitting the gym at this point preparing for that big event, not only for Inoue but also for Tapales. No one knows that there might be an upset as Tapales is not nicknamed The Nightmare for nothing hehe.

https://twitter.com/ABSCBNNews/status/1712611633355444569

Quote
The Asian Games men's basketball gold will stay with the Philippines, according to Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Rep. Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino.
Tolentino explained that the gold medal will only be forfeited if two of Brownlee's teammates also fail the doping test, citing the Article 11.2 of the Anti-Doping Rule of the International Olympic Committee.
388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 13, 2023, 11:02:47 AM
The worst thing about this fight for Casimero he is getting hurt by punches from a guy who is not known to be a knockout artist and has a low knockout percentage, unless he shows something in his next fight, I'm afraid Casimero's career will be over in a couple of years.

Yeah, he was exposed big time. Casimero lacks the stamina of a true champion. He just relied on that one big punch that might not land as Oguni was also intelligent and he countered every punch that Casimero threw. If no changes on the trainer and conditioning coach/nutritionist then i agree with you that Quadro Alas' career will be over in a couple of years. That kind of performance was B level and he will just last 3 or 4 rounds if his opponent is Inoue.
389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 13, 2023, 09:59:46 AM
Justin Brownlee failed the Dope test, what does it mean? Are they gonna take the gold medal from us?
It looks like they can’t still move on and still want to pursue this thing. Well, this is a requirement anyway and let’s see what will happen to JB and to the Whole Gilas team, we still have time to contest though and take another sample.
The result can be devastating and the organization can take back the medal and all the rewards, the worst scenario here is Justin Brownlee will be banned for years and that is frustrating for the team Philippines. Let’s hope for the better result of the next sample, let’s hope that this is not final yet. We can’t blame any team from this because it is really mandatory for every athlete.

Hahahah it's mandatory because we win, I don't think they will pursue if the team didn't win the gold. Though we don't have any options as it's a requirement and we needed to follow, we just need to pray and hope that things will favor us, as if the result will not favorable to us then this first ever gold will be taken back.

China is so desperate with that move. One is positive on the Philippine's side and also one was positive on Jordan so who's gonna take the Gold when Jordan can't protest because they also have a player who failed the doping test. Does this mean that China will automatically take the Gold as they are the third placer?

The big question here is why do the did the test after the games and not before the games so they can automatically ban that player who tested positive.
390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 12, 2023, 12:09:55 PM
You've got a point there; it seems the hype around Casimero wasn't matched by his performance, and it's hard to see him matching up against Inoue successfully. It's pretty funny that he jokingly called Inoue his best friend in an interview before the fight.

A rematch might be possible, but it doesn't look all that likely. It's not exactly a high-profile bout, and I think Casimero might be better off moving up to face a tougher challenger, like Nery. However, beating Nery could be a tougher nut to crack than Oguni, for sure.

Casimero is self-destructing, or he is deteriorating. His promoters are spending a lot of money only to give that kind of performance for is not acceptable. He was training hard but i think he needs a legit trainer now, not just rely on his brother as this might end his career abruptly.

He was supposed to look good in this fight but it seems he was revealed, i mean how can he call out Inoue if he kept on getting that kind of sub-par performance? A rematch is unlikely because the aim here is to get higher ranking in every fight won so i think Nery could be a good fight if his promoters can secure that.
391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 12, 2023, 11:17:40 AM
I'm pretty confident I won't miss that one. With plenty of streamers online, there's no issue catching that fight. Casimero taking on a relatively unknown fighter might not be the best matchup, but the fact that it's happening in Japan could set the stage for some serious hype around a potential Inoue vs. Casimero showdown.

They say Casimero should secure a win by KO, so it's a smart move to bet on him for a KO victory.

Unfortunately, there aren't any betting odds available yet for Casimero winning by KO. Right now, it's just the moneyline, and the odds are only at 1.15.

Yeah, limited options to bet on our local bookies but i secured a bet on my crypto bookies "over 6.5". I hope that Casimero would not catch Oguni early in the fight so that we will enjoy watching until the 10th round hehe.

ATM, Casimero's name is already called by the announcer.

Good luck to us Kabayans.
392  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: October 11, 2023, 01:03:27 PM

393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 11, 2023, 11:48:11 AM
According to what I've seen from vloggers (I just watched it today), it seems that Kai Sotto and Mikey Williams were the ones who pushed for a substantial salary. Apparently, Sotto's camp requested $400,000 to have him play in the Asian Cup, which does seem like a hefty sum, but it might align with Kai's current market value.

Nevertheless, what's in the past is in the past, and perhaps the SBP might find itself compelled to offer him that amount or even more once he makes his way into the NBA. However, as of now, he's still lagging behind some of the taller players in the NBA, like Wemby and Chet, so it's uncertain if he stands a good chance in the draft.

If we convert that into Philippine Peso, it is more than 20 million Php, though hefty but i think SBP can afford that amount but the thing here is that the players involved prioritize money rather than serving the nation first.

Some people disagree with Al Chua's revelation on the two players asking too much money but I think it is justified in the sense that they lack players and it is not business, it is for the nation so if we are called then accept without doubting, or asking something in return as money will flow into the pocket in due time.

Have also read an article that the other player might face a silent ban as a consequence of his action.
394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 11, 2023, 10:45:42 AM
Odds are already out and it seems bookies are predicting that this would end via knockout so let us guess what round it may be.

Unlike Nghitumbwa, Oguni is very silent and secretive about his training camp and not so vocal about this fight so i think he is intimidated by Casimero. Since it is very hard to predict on what round this will end, i will just bet that this fight will reach over 6.5 with that @1.91 odds.

395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING]Adrien Broner vs Chris Howard (Welterweight) Nov 4. . on: October 10, 2023, 11:47:50 AM
Looks like Adrien Broner is making a comeback! I honestly thought his career was done after that Pacman fight, but I did some digging into his boxing record, and he's got two consecutive wins via unanimous decisions against Jovanie Santiago and Bill Hutchinson. Now, it's not a championship fight, but I couldn't help myself from starting this thread. I find Adrien Broner to be a really interesting boxer, and the way I see it, he might just be gearing up for another shot at a championship bout in the future.

Adrien Broner's boxing career is done, at least for me. The guy lacks the discipline of a true champion, though he won against Santiago and Hutchinson but that were not an impressive wins and i would not be surprised that after this fight, he will retire hehe.

About getting a title fight in the future, that's a slim possibility as he is not a crowd drawer for now.
396  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: October 10, 2023, 11:32:17 AM

397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 10, 2023, 11:17:14 AM
Many fans think that its Mike Williams and Maverick Ahanmisi I don't know if I spelled his name right but this is flooded on Podcast of Pow sports. If that's the case then its not good since they are not actually committed for their country but rather they are there trying to earn a lot of money from the team. They shouldn't ask that since they don't prove anything yet on the league.

But they should move on to that discussion since that already happen, they already won the gold medal on last Asian games so its time for them to celebrate and ignore those negative  interference that can spoil the fun. They just focus on players that can provide their service without asking more further conditions  and forget about those people who ask to much from them.

I also think that one of the two players is Mikey Williams as we all know that this player is pricey, his entry to TNT Katropa was not an easy one due to money issue as he think he deserves more than that of a rookie cap in the PBA. I don't know about Ahamnisi because he has not proven anything yet he ask for large amount of money just to play for Gilas, that is unjustifiable.

Meanwhile per PBA.ph in less than three days we will have a game so the opening might be on Friday.

398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: October 09, 2023, 12:09:03 PM
Oh, you mean that time when they stripped Casimero of his belt in the past? Yeah, I don't think that's even a concern now. He's moved up in weight, and honestly, he seems way more comfortable there. And don't sweat it, there's no belt to strip anymore since he's not the champ.

I mean, it'd be pretty dumb if Casimero underestimates his opponent, right? Losing could mess up his whole future, especially that dream of going toe-to-toe with Inoue. He's gotta get that, for sure.

I have followed the vlogs of Casimero and that of his brother Jason Casimero because i want to know the updates on their training and based on their vlogs, they were doing well in training and he seems fit and trimmed at the moment and weight is not a problem for him.

The fight will be in three days, Thursday, and still no odds for this fight yet, maybe tomorrow bookies will put some markets/odds on this fight. It is just weird to note that in Japan they don't held boxing on a weekend. If my memory is right, Inoue's last fight was held in a Tuesday.

I agree, Bay Area really bring another level of entertainment a kind of competition that push the level of competition inside PBA has been challenge, I like the way Gin kings play them, though catching that last statement about how the refs help the home team, that's no secret on it, kind of moving back to Bay Area if only they did not disband, I'm looking to see if how SMB will challenged them, with the healthy JMF and TR7 I'm pretty sure there are lots of fans who are also interested to see them competing, sad to say that they will not come back and maybe PBA governors will find another new challenger as visiting team.

It is sad to note that visiting team/teams will spend tons of money on hotels plus their salaries, that is the reason why the Bay Area Dragons disbanded but i think PBA is working on bringing other teams to the league as guests as that makes the PBA exciting to watch if the guest is also a strong team like the BAD.

In terms of hotel expenses, it doesn't seem like a significant cost. The host league could potentially cover all those expenses, except for the players' salaries. That's just my suggestion, considering this is a business venture. If the players can bring in more revenue to the league than the league would spend, it's still a win-win situation for both parties.

But based on the articles that I'd read months ago, hotel expenses and salaries were some of the reasons why they disbanded by you also got a point that the league that they were part of was no longer profitable, I mean the gate attendance is not enough to run the league, just my thought though as I might be wrong in this assumption.

Meanwhile, let us guess who these players that Boss Al Chua said were asking too much money to play for Gilas, two players he said.
