I saw this ages ago, its great!
What is is is Norse have a bunch of honeypots and they track attacks on the site DEFCON/War Games style, its really quite awesome and pretty to look at.
Its mostly china targeting the US though and you see a few attacks against other countries but they all seem to stem from third world attacking first world.

I think a lot are relatively harmless (people entering wrong IPs or maybe just someone scanning a range of IPs or something like that)... but every once in a while you'll see 5+ from the same IP, those are probably srs bsns...  I saw one string of about 50+ from Russia, that was probably VRY srs bsns

384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: downloading original bitcoin wallet on: August 05, 2014, 04:26:52 PM
My internet speed is solid at around 10-15 mb/sec.  How long would it take for me to download the entire blockchain for the original bitcoin wallet?
Time taken to verify the blocks can take more time than downloading it. Your peers' latency and speed can also affect your blockchain download speed. Even if you have lightning fast internet, if your peers have slow internet, you would likely to take a longer time to download. You can always use a lightweight wallet if you prefer not to wait for so long.
That can always be fixed by temporarily setting maxconnections=1 and connect=(fast server).  You avoid getting all the 'orphan blocks' that way as well, from multiple nodes sending you blocks.

You can use 5.9.24.81, 75.102.27.50, 107.155.104.194, or 199.233.245.125 right now, if you like

Yeah, usually see at least a few every month. I guess it's an easy scam really.

Wouldn't be so much of it if it wasn't so lucrative.

I've always used inspect element on random links.

Maybe it should be changed to "udp://open.demonii.com:1337" like all the newer torrents? This new tracker is accessible worldwide.

udp://open.demonii.com:1337 is by far the best

also

udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce

udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce

http: //open.nyaatorrents.info:6544/announce , which i guess you can use for things other than anime

udp://tracker.ex.ua:80/announce

udp://coppersurfer.tk:6969/announce

udp://9.rarbg.com:2710/announce

udp://glotorrents.com:6969/announce

and istole.it still works i guess

We have to download a special client? Sooooo.... You want us to be part of your botnet... Thanks, but no.

Hitleap is trusted. I have been using it for website hits.

Just because it works doesn't mean there's nothing going on in the background that you don't know about. Thanks for the input. But I'm still gonna stay away from this one.
The amount that the OP is offering is very small, and not worth even the small risk of a virus.

Is there some cheap dual Opteron or dual Xeon config out there with 32 threads?  I know the 5639 is cheap as hell for 24... so run VMWare or some such, 24 * 1440 * 0.000001 = 0.03456BTC a day?  Where am I off here?

So, is it wrong for me to think that user X out of Africa or user Y out of Croatia that created their eBay account one month ago, is just doing 'reputation' loans to build up to a worthwhile amount to run off with?

It's like a big ponzi, but since you can take out multiple loans, the first ones in even lose sometimes.

ed: I can't even ask for a loan, since apparently I'm supposed to photograph myself holding up my DL.  LOL, gmafb.  Any chump can do that, it doesn't mean they're legit.

VPNs are cheap.

396  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [600 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 27, 2014, 12:01:54 AM
I don't know what they did in their driver that needs such a large queue. I'd recommend a queue of 1 for every piece of hardware, always, on p2pool, unless there is some unique issue with the device that really needs it larger. S3 might fall into that category. Scan and expiry do nothing useful on today's hardware, today's stratum mining or with p2pool. All recommendations you may read are misguided. Bitmain really is using an older cgminer; they just kept working with the codebase they forked when they first created their own cgminer driver fork for S1.

EDIT: Virtually all manipulations of queue are also misguided, even if for other pools; the default is best there.

Thanks for your help.  If I understand you correctly, the following are your recommendations:
  • For p2pool, queue depth of 1.
  • Certain hardware that uses their own customized fork of cgminer may have different queue depth requirements due to driver implementation
  • Scan time and expiry settings are pointless on modern mining hardware

Your guidance is much appreciated.

They're pointless, but if you set expiry to 1 you may have some issues.

Was scan-time set to 1 and expiry set to 1 *ever* good?  I just did a quick google search and it looks like a lot of these GPU miner guides actually recommend that crap.  I always used a scan time of 30, expiry of 60 and queue of 1.  Was I wrong that whole time?  haha
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Impossible to hack bitcoin wallet help! on: July 26, 2014, 11:53:24 PM
I think the most secure way to keep your bitcoin safe is to make it so as few people as possible know that you own bitcoins. They will keep you from being subjected from most attacks

What if i get randomly keylogged or infected? They dont need to know it, they will check it.
If your not online the keylogger cant reach you.
I personally think that "keeping" your bitcoin stored on an offline computer is unnecessary. I think the chances are greater that you will suffer losses from price declines of bitcoin then that you would suffer losses from theft of your coins.

Other than just backing up your wallet on a couple different devices (another HDD, USB flash drives, 360KB floppy, w/e), I agree...   except every step that bitcoin takes towards being 'mainstream' you'll get people that are less and less tech savvy/computer knowledgeable in general.  God knows how much crap they have on their computers already from clicking on random Facebook pictures.

... and then there's the whole thing about wireless, esp. in public areas.
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: migrating blockchain to a new computer on: July 26, 2014, 06:58:28 AM
The only thing you need to copy over to avoid needing to redownload the blockchain is the blocks directory, everything else will be automatically regenerated (except the wallet; if you want to use the same one instead of using a separate one for the other computer, copy wallet.dat as well). If you're moving everything to a different computer and keeping the same wallet, you can copy over everything and it shouldn't need to reindex (saving you ~30min-2hr, depending on your computer). There's no "detatch" command necessary, but Bitcoin-Qt should be closed while you're copying the files.

I've always copied over chainstate... so you're saying you don't need to copy over chainstate on a --reindex?
399  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining bandwith on: July 26, 2014, 06:56:06 AM
48 bytes/s?  Uh, maybe if you use something that requires really high difficulty to count as a share..  But incoming data should still be just as high..

Anyway, Cudaminer bursted up to around 8kb/s upstream, w/ an average of around 1kb/s, probably.  I was using relatively low share difficulty, averaged maybe one every 3 seconds.
