And now, please join us in a moment of solemn silence as we fondly recall the memory of all the HSBC bankers who were thrown in prison for aiding, abetting and profiting from laundering money with known global terrorists...

There was just a very good comment about bankers in Financial Times, "Nothing can dent the divine right of bankers". It has been replicated a little down the page here: http://www.peterwarren.no/2014/01/med-svindel-som-odelsrett/

"The basic structure of the system – with its perverse incentives, too-big-to-fail institutions and too-powerful-to-jail executives – remains untouched."
382  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-01-24 - This is What it’s Like to Be a Woman at a Bitcoin Meetup on: January 27, 2014, 09:17:01 AM
If you don't want to get hit on, don't dress like a cock tease.
Agreed. Unless women dress like this, they are clearly begging for it:

Seriously, though, we're supposed to be living in the civilized part of the world. That includes not behaving like cavemen just because a woman wears a dress.

Until I see some pictures I have to assume that you've made the auction to promote your site.
385  Bitcoin / Press / Re: BIG News! HMRC to Re-Classify Bitcoin as Private Money on: January 18, 2014, 12:20:47 PM
Explaining how bitcoin is currently treated as a voucher in the UK, Asquith told Coindesk: "If you went to Marks and Spencer for example, and bought one of their gift vouchers, you pay 20% VAT on that. When the voucher is used, the buyer has to pay 20% VAT on what they've bought. So vouchers are a form of double taxation."
I thought this sounded very strange, and indeed it's wrong: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/managing/charging/discounts-etc.htm#4

There is no VAT on vouchers, only on the goods they are used for.
386  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Stor diskusjon vedr. Ghash.io. her. Også i nyhetene. Bør leses! on: January 10, 2014, 02:31:07 PM
387  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Norsk nettbutikk tar betalt i Bitcoins on: January 09, 2014, 10:43:31 PM
388  Economy / Service Discussion / Best way to find others willing trade for cash? on: January 06, 2014, 08:31:22 AM
Localbitcoins is pretty much useless, because it only shows a maximum of 5 traders in the search result list, and even fewer on the map. Usually those will not offer a decent price. Are there any other ways to find other people willing to trade for cash these days?
389  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-11 Israeli banks limit money connected to bitcoin. on: January 05, 2014, 03:01:42 PM
Well, it certainly smells old. Why dig up an old thread just to post this?
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Porn.com accepts bitcoin on: January 04, 2014, 09:28:12 AM
Child porn is illegal, yet the majority of rape is not against children.
Seriously? It can't be because most people aren't pedophiles?
391  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Kjøp på Bitstamp momspliktig? on: December 19, 2013, 10:02:25 PM
392  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-12-15 Bloomberg - Bitcoins Fail Real Money Test In Scandanavia's Wealthiest on: December 16, 2013, 09:15:21 AM
Capital gains tax in Norway is around 35%. It is way too high, compared to that in Germany. I don't think that BTC owners are happy with this in Norway.

It's 28% this year and 27% next year, which is the same as it would be if bitcoins were called money. The big problem is that they are calling bitcoins a service, and also talks about adding the Norwegian equivalent of value added tax. They don't clarify what this means, and worst case it means that sellers of bitcoins with a turnover of more than NOK 50 000 will have to add 25% tax to the sum (because they would be selling a service). It is of course ridiculous if this is correct, but unfortunately that hasn't stopped them before.

What the optimists hoped for was for bitcoins to be included by an exception which lets private individuals avoid the 28% tax on smaller amounts of cash. This exception was made to avoid reporting tiny gains or losses on cash left over from holiday trips etc.

395  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: [ANN] Justcoin · Norges første Bitcoin-exchange on: December 12, 2013, 01:34:43 PM
Yeah but if the site is showing btc price to 890 dollars and u try to sell at 890 you would get a match likely? Thats what im wondering
That's the last traded price. It's impossible to say if you can sell at that price, especially when there are so few trades. You'll have to check the order book.
396  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: [ANN] Justcoin · Norges første Bitcoin-exchange on: December 11, 2013, 11:31:05 PM
Normally im talking about selling at the market price.

Selling at market price on an exchange usually means the best price the available buy orders will pay for the amount you want to sell. If you by "market price" mean a price from a different exchange then there's no guarantee that the order will ever be executed.
397  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: [ANN] Justcoin · Norges første Bitcoin-exchange on: December 11, 2013, 09:42:15 PM
How long does selling take? 1 hour?
It's an exchange, where people put up offers to buy or sell a certain amount at a certain price. If you are willing to sell at the price someone else is offering then the trade is instant. If not you can only hope that someone will pay the price you want at some time in the future. It could take seconds, or it might never happen. You have to check the order book to know what the available offers are.
398  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Norsk nettbutikk tar betalt i Bitcoins on: December 11, 2013, 12:45:23 PM
399  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: [ANN] Justcoin · Norges første Bitcoin-exchange on: December 11, 2013, 11:02:34 AM
The risk is zero. They are a reputable, registered company in Norway, and the founders have appeared in Norwegian media several times. They have over 10,000 happy users.

The risk is seldom zero or even close in the Bitcoin world. If anyone finds a way to steal the bitcoins that is deposited with them they will go broke, and people will lose money. Having a known identity is no guarantee either, the identity of Pirateat40 was well known. This is just meant as a general advice, Justcoin is probably no less safe than other Bitcoin services.

Also, it's almost a year old and according to other sources written by their marketing department.
