381  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Cryptocurrency Coin Sculptures Limited Edition - Bitcoingallery.art on: September 12, 2018, 05:11:32 PM
I ordered one of their "The Big One Artist Proof" bitcoin sculptures and it arrived damaged. All they did for shipping was wrap the wooden presentation box in mylar, put an address label on and ship. Several pieces of the plexiglass cage which surround the bitcoin sculpture itself were broken off in transit. Even the wooden box was slightly damaged.

At the minimum they should have doubled boxed using bubble wrap for protection. I have contacted them to see if they are going to replace the sculpture and will update. Does the company have a username here?
382  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Kialara To the Moon Silver Series Set #42 on: September 12, 2018, 01:48:15 PM
The last two bar Moon Set auctioned included a Soul of Satoshi bar and went for 0.36 back on June 23, 2018 so pricing is top dollar but fair. Wish this were an auction but good luck with the sale hope you get your full asking price (I already own a set:) Just missed getting the suite by a hair they sold out in five minutes.
383  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 12, 2018, 01:26:55 PM
JJG, yes, that's it. I think the $50 was a kickstarter deal, they may be more now. The first few production batches were sold out. Yes, BIP39 comparability, seed words, easy (hopefully) to restore to another device in case of disaster. The damn thing comes sealed in a bag that changes color if it's opened, the bag's serial number is in the firmware (tamper-proof, proof).

Much more than I can relay is here:  https://coldcardwallet.com/docs/

I was pretty happy with Ledger Nano S, glad to see ledger-live instead of Chrome extensions. I use it only on several Linux variants, but even on latest updates, the USB comm is messing with something. It's killing X, but the OS is still alive underneath. Chrome extension seems to work fine, but I am leery of trusting Mega-corp.

Little nit-picky stuff on the Nano S?  The whole thing physically is a little 'wiggly'. The buttons don't seem physically robust. I would not expect it to take rough treatment. Nano S also has native Electrum support, but I haven't tried it yet (even though Electrum is my favorite software wallet. Paper has been preferred so far, but it was  hassle to sweep the whole thing to extract shitcoins.

The Coldcard has no moving parts, the buttons are all capacitive (sp?) touch (with adjustable debounce and sensitivity), and a much better/bigger display. I think you can pretty much reset anything/everything on it, unless you use the BURNME PIN, that destroys the device.

I'm happy to see that Coldcard has source code available, and encourages home-grown extensions. That of course opens idiots to someday installing bad custom firmware (BUT THEY SAID IT WOULD CURE CANCER!). Conversely, Nano S pretty much just said "it's all a secret. Trust us".

Disclaimer: I am a hardware wallet newbie. Nano S/Coldcard are my only toes in this water.  There are plenty of others. We are obviously at the tip of the iceberg, on what hardware wallets will someday become. I hold/acquire crypto, I'm just trying to learn. I don't really need hardware wallets. Yet.

Coldcard is a new product and only supports bitcoin: no altcoins. Trezor has been around for four years now, Ledger Nano S for two. Best to stick with well tested products with a good history IMO.

Need more coffee sorry about that.
385  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Titan Mint sell-off (2013 1oz silver private key edition with COA) on: September 11, 2018, 04:57:11 PM
Are these 2FA or private key Titan coins please?
386  Economy / Collectibles / Re: TitanBTC are ignoring my questions about their 2fa coin on: September 11, 2018, 02:59:12 AM
Sorry AFAIK Titan can not bypass their own 2FA security you need to get the registration email and password from the owner who registered the coin and sold it to you. Buying a 2FA Titan requires trust between buyer and seller I would personally prefer to buy a private key Titan. Hope you can get this sorted out.
387  Economy / Collectibles / Re: TitanBTC are ignoring my questions about their 2fa coin on: September 11, 2018, 01:59:47 AM
The person you purchased the coin from did not provide you the email and password for the coin?
388  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 1oz .999 FINE SILVER "BITCOIN" BINARY ROUNDS (2018) on: September 10, 2018, 10:47:56 PM
Thank you. Checking I see you have already sold 5 2018 bitcoin gold binary rounds @ $2000 or 1.62 times spot gold. 1.62 times spot platinum would be $1360. Seems reasonable that you could easily sell 5+ one ounce platinum bitcoin binary rounds as that price would be lower than the gold rounds. Depends on whether the numbers work for you. It would also complete the set: bitcoin binary rounds in silver, gold and platinum. As for your ultimate coin in platinum I would have to see it for myself to judge if the premium over spot is matched by collector value; I suspect it will knowing the quality of your coins. Sorry for derailing the thread.

There are a few reasons why a multiple to spot markup wouldn't really be possible with a platinum binary round vs gold binary round.  For example, the designs of the gold and silver are nearly identical.  I even had the binary spell out Golden to match the characters in Silver so that it would be a simple design edit.  Platinum would require a larger redesign.  I also have 1 of the dies on my binary rounds that can be reused, so the 2018 rounds only required 1 of the dies to be edited/crafted.  A platinum version would need 2 entirely new dies, with both requiring a redesign.  Then there is the cost of blanks, which can actually be higher than gold blanks due to their rarity (not sure if this is true for a 1oz blank, but it certainly is for the size I'm having made for my upcoming round).  Finally, the minimum minting costs would apply equally to platinum/gold and not be based on spot price.

I hope that explains why I wouldn't be able to offer a platinum round for $1,360 without taking significant risk and hoping the exchange rate went my way.  Maybe if I took pre-orders I could get the price down below the $1,600 I suspect I'd have to charge, but this would be more about pleasing customers than anything else, so there would have to be demand for it.

Appreciate the detailed explanation thanks. If you can offer a platinum round for around $1600 count me in.

Is this one of the DIY coins or came pre-funded with a serial number please?

Creator-funded, though I don't see a serial #. (I don't remember what the variants were.)

According to Ahonen total production was 500; only first 100 had serial numbers and cost extra. Still pretty rare and desirable even if you don't see a serial number.

398  Economy / Collectibles / Re: BTCC Mint 2018 V-Series One and One Tenth Bitcoin - Official Launch on: September 07, 2018, 06:03:58 PM
You probably never will. I speculate that site is trying to fly under the radar to avoid being shut down. YMMV. People seem to be ordering and receiving coins OK.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's under the terms of service on the checkout page. There is no flying under the radar. The site is owned by Blue Diamond Exhange LLC an Oregon Corporation you can check the registration with FinCen. It is possibly the only female-owned exchange in the nation. Thank you for this information. We will work on getting an "About Us" page up.

My apologies @Roguebitcoin. Thanks for the update.

No problem now. Sheet aluminum can be sensitive to temperature changes and the slight warping might be due to my chosen mounting location. I get many compliments on the piece from friends and it is not going anywhere but I do appreciate your standing behind your products 100%. I look forward to doing business with you in the future.
