Months after the killing of innocent Nigerian youths exercising their fundamental human rights at the lekki toll gate by some members of the Nigerian army on an executive order, more deaths have followed. Not at the hand of the pandemic, but this time as a result of the clash between members of "Eastern Security Network" (ESN) and the Nigerian Army leading to more deaths both from direct and indirect gun fire, and loss of properties in the eastern part of Nigeria. The crisis had been brewing since last week after an altercation between ESN members and the police resulted in death and a viral video of members of the ESN celebrating in a police vehicle they confiscated surfaced. Economic activities in the state have been really affected as a dusk to dawn curfew has been instituted.
The killing of innocent people in Nigeria is unfortunate and alarming. But what are authorities doing in this regard? Are they just sleeping or taking any action against the same? I think this matter should be taken to the United Nations, and the UN must take strmeasuresents to eradicate these injustices and inhumane acts against innocent citizens. |

Nuclear family is central to a stable society and it's been that way for all of human history -- it seems to me family values are eroding away and uncoincidentally suicidal ideations, drug abuse, porn addiction are all rising at accelerated rates with marriage and birth rates down.
Usually nuclear families can be maintained through religious bonds and cultural homogeneity but it doesn't necessarily require that. I'm not the biggest fan of religion myself though it does help maintain stable social structure. Take religion out and put children through unstable family structures, they end up being another statistic: someone less likely to get an education, more likely to commit crime, more likely to have a child out of wedlock, more likely to enter a cycle of poverty, etc.
Strongly agree with your post. The family is the primary place where a person can learn the way and conduct of life; all this learning directly impacts any person's life. Therefore, the fortress family system plays a vital role in a strong society. |

Uncertainty or fear of uncertainty has become top priority to deal with in most countries over the world. Personally I am pessimistic about the new year's prospect. I think we should not be pessimistic. We have to face the ups and down in life; there is nothing new. At the start of 2022, the world had many challenges, and the same did 2023, which had its challenges and difficulties. Although, if we look into the past year, 2020 was the most challenging time, and we have also gone through it. However, what I believe is that 2023 would be better for everyone. |
