381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: March 28, 2018, 02:52:10 PM
Wow, super bargain price. Any rumor on next generation of scrypt miner from Bitmain ?

Also have similar concerns...L3+ price keep dumping. Or maybe it just because of competition agains Innosilicon A4, A6 miners.

L3+ is only 28nm and Inno A4 is on 14/16nm. The A4 is only 20% more efficient. The S9 (14/16nm) is 3 times more efficient than the S7 (28nm). Hence, if an L4+ appears, it could be 3 times more efficient. That being said, I dont think an L4+ will appear anytime soon as there is no real need for it. Bitmain can win on pricing by far I believe, especially since they are producing a 28nm against a competitor 14/16nm.

Just my 2 cents
Bitmain is sending a definite signal that they are clearing their inventory in preparation for release of new technology. The legacy units are now only useful to those with huge scale and minimum electricity costs. To say the l3+ will be "useless" is just plain stupid. Although it will be, to all the stunned morons that piled into mining in the last 4 months at record ASIC and Crypto highs. Time to cull the herd.

If it gets to that point, I hope u realize that L3 miners will run the miner even if it makes 10 bucks a month and some will run it even if it makes a small loss. At that point, the lower cost miners will only be making say 20-30 bucks a month, not much either. The cost gap between running at 5 cents and 10 cents electricity rate is only 30 USD per month per miner. There is no winner really. This is the case with the D3 now. Lets not forget the lower cost miners also do have rental and staff cost unlike home miners. Hmmm I now see someone posting that they even run S9 at a loss in the S9 thread. Seems some dont mind running it at a small loss since they like it or something.

Just my 2 cents

383  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 28, 2018, 11:33:24 AM
Bitmain could be trying to crush the competition as their miners are now much cheaper than all the other miner manufacturers and the efficiency is about same as all the others have caught up.

I suspect thats part of the reason. But things can still work out somehow. The D3 was bad but the antminer A3 was well handled. The first A3 batch users have already broke even. I hope that all miners will be well handled. The fact that they give out coupons and gave fair options to early X3 buyers also tells me they can find solutions too.

Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to the decentralized mining age

thetaj buddy,

The antminer S9 just got its price reduced in new batch. Those that bought at 1.6k and 2k+ just 2 months back would have been better of if they bought now. What do u think would happen if future batches become cheaper and cheaper.

Look at the D3 now, the last batch was 318 USD. Previous batch was 550 USD. The batch before was 1.45k, and then 2k-3k+ and first batch was 5k+ ...if i recall right.
Point is the D3 now makes Negative 20 dollar profit at 12 cents electricity. It makes negative 4 bucks at 9 cents. It makes 23 bucks at 5 cents electricity.

Now buddy, tell me wat u think will happen to S9 mining profit if the S9 keeps doing the same D3 does, getting cheaper and cheaper batches all the way to the few hundred dollar per miner range?

it is too bad that an "entity" can really manipulate and have that huge effect on the industry! shame!

Can already feel the pain with mining as reward is lesser and lesser even with a medium size farm. For people who are starting now, getting tempted now with low prices and expect profit... well... good luck.

I wont call it manipulation. I am aware this is just business. Last year btc price rose 10x, asics sales boomed. Btc price is not rising 10x this year, like last year. It isnt possible to rise 10x yearly. Btc market cap would go to 1.33 trillion and then 13.3 trillion in 2 years. Not possible with gold at 7.8 trillion mkt cap. Thus, I hope they can downsize their production capacity. Last year was an anomaly. It wont be sustainable because btc market cap cannot rise at that rate. Dear bitmain, some of us have already unplugged our D3. We will not break even on the D3. We dont wanna have to unplug our S9 too.

With this pricing strategy, only the newest batch would be good, until a newer cheaper batch appears. I hope bitmain also finds a solution for their older batch supporters and future mining profitability.

Just my 2 cents

386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: March 28, 2018, 05:54:19 AM

Hey, does anyone have any x11 coin, besides DASH, that is worth a mess of D3 ASIC's attempting to pump/mine/etc?

Or am I simply being delusional?

Looking for the equivalent in x11 coin of if  BTC=DASH then LTC=??? x11 coin

So ANY x11 coins folk would recommend with their devs having their sh*t together and trying in some manner for the 2nd slot like BTC to LTC?

(hey, all I got is a 'hail mary pass' attempt here...doorstop status awaits at the end of the month....I may be in denial....)

I would like to know this too.

Tis....likely fairy-dust dreams/unicorn poop/and rainbows....dare to dream (unlikely as hell thou..such an x11 coin exists, besides DASH)

This is bad, it is now 318 USD for a D3. The difficulty will rise again?
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: March 28, 2018, 05:49:02 AM
Man, I hear you!!  I have been toying with the idea of picking a few up.  Throw them on a solo pool and roll the dice.

I have no Balls.....however...I know a guy who has too many (just got them) ...unsure what he paid...but with my 'ABOVE LOGIC' (previous above post on this thread)

maybe a 'hedge' for me is to take one off his hands (see previous post calculations) and a hedge for him, in that he may have too many

We are friends...MIGHT give ONE to me, for what he got them for...IF he sees the need for this 'hedge' from his direction

other than that ..it is Bitmain (thus a trap!)

(why do I feel this convoluted logic is simply my way to 'fall off the wagon' (in a small way) back into my ASIC Addiction?

on the other hand ....he is an 'optimistic sort' and got them (unlike me) ...so probably will tell me to 'p*ss off'

hmmmm

you talking bout me Grin

 I may order a 7th

NOPE! (trying to resist temptation!)

On the other hand, the buddy I talk about above has them IN HAND and maybe I could get them more or less what he ordered
them for...I guess it depends on if he thinks he has too many (tummy hurts) and modestly wants to swap one out to me...

all very iffy....(again, I think it is me basically using 'flawed logic' to get an ASIC miner, due to my ASIC addiction...this is just a manner for someone to 'enable' my delusion....)

It is now even cheaper at 855, down from 1200. Those bought at 1200 thought they got a good deal. It would have been better to buy now. This is bad. It reminds me of the D3 again. No one wins at the end of this. The L3+ and S9 can be the new D3 if they keep doing this price lowering and flooding. Difficulty will go through the roof...
I hope our dear bitmain looks after previous buyers interests too. Pls dont over do it.

389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: March 27, 2018, 02:05:04 PM
I disagree sandal_hat. I think they will have to drop the price. Basic marketing dictates that. If all your competitors are dropping prices and you're the only one not doing so. You'll go out of business soon. A price war is inevitable at this point. This sort of reminds me of 2015 to be honest. Don't worry, time will tell if Dragonmints will be around.

By right no more asics should not even be sold because ROI is way too long considering the risks involved. There is a limited amount to be earned as there is a limited amount of btc released every 10mins.

A price war would mean dragon lose, period. The other loser are all miners. It is the same reason why there are alot more D3 although inno dash miner is twice as strong. U cant beat bitmain on cheaper per TH basis. If price war occurs, the S9/T1 will be sold for less and less from 2k all the way to 550usd which is D3 price now...and no winner along the way. Right now, those who bought the S9 at 2k to 2k+ are already regretting because it would be far better if they bought the S9 now at 1.6k ish rather than at 2k ish. The thing is u think that u have an advantage if it goes into a price war and u get a machine cheaper, say 300-400 dollars lower? Nope. Everyone thinks the same and will buy. So, difficulty goes higher. And then machines can be sold cheaper again, say another 300 dollars lower? And more buyers come in, and same cycle repeats. This exact problem happened with the D3. It was sold at 5k, then 3k, then 2+k and then 1.45k....no one broke even because difficulty is too high and ROI is impossible.
I hope history does not repeat itself here..

With mostly 3 players for sha255, this is an oligopoly. Usually the leader sets the mkt price and the rest follows. They dont compete because they know custlmers only have 3 choices and there is limited demand. They keep prices at a certain level and make more money from higher margins though they sell less. If they kill it by selling at 550usd per miner lIke D3, they make say a 100-200 usd per miner? It is far better to sell less miners at say 1.6k-2k per miner but make 1-1.5k profit per miner. Then again, this crypto landscape isnt exactly filled with big experienced companies. So, nothing is for certain what can occur.

Just my 2cents.
390  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Orion Miner - New Manufacturer - Up to 20 TH/s - SCAM!? on: March 27, 2018, 05:40:21 AM
Are u guys real and serious? It makes no sense to spend money into manufacturing a miner now for the usual algos that already have asic. Why not make an asic for a new algo that has no asic yet?  In any case, if this turns out to be real which I currently doubt, it would be great if u give one for quick demo to the respective individuals quickly. Less headache
391  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: March 27, 2018, 04:56:59 AM
I got a postal tracking number today that may be the dragon mint or not.

as for price  2800 needs to go lower.

IIRC  the Nov. black friday price was 1500 or less

bitmain dropped s-9 price
avalon dropped 841 price

got to figure the dragon mint will drop price.

My gut feeling tells me they wont drop it. If they go into a price war with bitmain, they will not win. They have 3 other different algo machines already, of which the decred miner that doesnt compete with bitmain, can be sold for the highest price. It is not like they can sell much now that sha256 algo has been flooded. Sha256 used to make more than Litecoin algo and now it makes less.
392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 26, 2018, 11:14:45 PM
I think I'm going to buy 4 T9+.  I have 4 good coupons.

hashrate /price is good but require double the power.

I am also considering the T9's provided the price right now. What do you mean by double power? Aren't they the same power as S9, but just lower hash rate (and supposedly more stable).

I think he means that as you need same power to have half less hasrate, you need around 2x more power to match S9 hashrate. So it's ok if you have good electricity price.

I can can vouch for the T9 (first model 12.5 Ths). Have units since the first batch was released (some were never turned off since Feb 2017), faced no issues so far (knock wood), same power supply, just opened once for cleaning. They generate more heat though and consume more power.

U mean your power supply uses more power as time pass by? U sure?
393  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 26, 2018, 11:13:31 PM
Man, really could use lower difficulty anf higher bitcoin prices or a good new sha256 algo coin to mine right now. It is getting tougher.

BTC failed to test the $8300 support level. seeing another bloodbath.

It will bounce back I think. We cant afford another bloodbath...
394  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: March 26, 2018, 11:10:16 PM
Best to just wait for units to be shipped and the review. Better to not place any new orders first until all that occurs. It is not like mining is making much profit now. No hurry.

I too bought 10 units a few weeks ago for 2500 shipped each after all said, and done. Then they sold 14th models for 1800+ with PSU! I am really pissed off, and I can't even sell my unit to break even, and it will take 13-14 months just to cover the cost of the miner even with my per KW rate is .06 cents and no rent. Sad

I feel like the only option now is to run them..don't really want to sell for a loss, when they are brand new, and just arrived. Sad

yes, I agree, it's really annoying. let's hope new model is not coming soon.

Mining difficulty is too high as it is. I hope no new model either. That would damage everything.

New algos like the antiminer A3 at good prices are welcome Smiley

selling mine for $400 now, got 8 available in nyc
People are buying at 400?? I would sell.

Best to just wait for phillip review. There are others who have also said they have not received their dragonmint on twitter. It is probably real but it is better to be prudent still. Slush tweeted that their EH went above 3EH but it is about 5% below 3 now which is abit odd.

It's really hard to get a simple answer for some questions.

I don't know understand why Yoshi agrees on kicking me out of the Dragonmint telegram chat.
I still see that as a act of sensorship, I'm not able to re-join the chat. So it was a permanent ban.

I don't see why my questions are so f*cking irritating to them.  Huh

I have shown clear evidence to back my comments, I haven't posted anything based on some kind of a hunch.
Funny detail also that MyRig is now taking Innosilicon hardware for repair.

https://imgur.com/a/1XIfL

If inno is dragon, it may not want to associate itself with dragon. The dragon T1 competes with bitmain S9. Inno probably doesnt want bitmain retaliating by flooding their current algos with competition. Thus, it would be best if it was someone else competing with bitmain. This is on the assumption that it is real. Currently it is still vaporware. Online posts are the only evidence of its existence.

Linda at 24 sats as of this time..somebody somewhere knows something that is not public, because I do not see any news on the website nor on this thread...anyone have any info on anything mentioned on Discord, Twitter, etc. that might shed some light? new exchange listing? or just the upcoming new wallet?

Linda has low volume and price. A single person can push it up actually.
400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook shares fall -5% after banning Bitcoin on: March 20, 2018, 03:17:36 AM
Actually, it fell because of possible data mis-use and it was a bearish day. The dow/nasdaq/snp500 were strongly negative. This is due to possible interest rates rise really soon and possible 4 rate hikes this year which some people consider too much. There is fear that rates being hiked too fast can lead to a recession.
