NEXA and KASPA will be new bull season coins. Maybe DNX.
Well, NEXA pays the first payment after 7 days. But it s a good thing for long term mining. Not good for the beginner level.

CLORE, PAPRY, NOVO, EVR are not good coins in my opinion. (for long term mining)
Well, the prices is up in time but not for long term.

I'm thinking about running my own node and mining KASPA but a little lazy to set it up.

I'm mining NEXA but I hate waiting 7 days to get paid out. I agree though that it might be a good thing since it keeps miners from just dumping as soon as they mine NEXA.

I'm not a fan of KAWPOW since it draws too much power.
This way miners will avoid the KAWPOW algorithm. On new video cards, this algorithm is not very profitable and consumes a lot of energy. The old video cards VEGA 64 and VEGA 56 perform quite well here at 30Mh/s, although the 4090 shows 65 Mh/s. And the 6600 XT is one of the most economical cards based on this algorithm.

KAWPOW is not good on new cards because it is only around x2 to x2.5 the hashrate from old video cards LOL. Like from 1xxx to 4xxx series, i think the very old video card 290x is half of 1xxx in KAWPOW or PROGPOW hehe.

Those algos are not just ASIC resistant but also a slow generational gpu mining improvement, now think of the price comparison of those cards heheh

Nexa do over 3x from old gpus so nexa is better on new cards BTW

Nexa is tiny very low volume.

Shitcoin 101, the more tiny the more pumpable LOL, not financial advice LOL.

We are back to tiny coins BTW. ETH already moved on.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Kaspa asics on: April 16, 2023, 05:20:09 PM
Core intensive algos like KAS are ASIC friendly, only memory intensive algo are not so friendly if you look at crypto history. FPGAs are making a killing already.
Bitmain can make different ASICs for any algorithm, and E9 Pro confirms this. For any algorithm, a company can make an appropriate ASIC if it sees a benefit in this.
FPGAs in Ethereum mining have not shown good results.

Took a while and didn't have a huge gap in performance until now.

I think fast vrams for asic resistance is over, ASIC manufacturers probably knew how to crack the tech, a combination of core and vram like progpow should do but that didn't took off since it was not used by a huge market cap coin.

Also i think it was also a golden age of gpu vram performance upgrade, is there a huge benefit for a gpu to further improve vram tech for gaming? Hmmm.. Maybe if there is a new tech for future gpus then it will be/should be utilized for ASIC resistance.

Asic resistance does not mean asic proof BTW.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Kaspa asics on: April 16, 2023, 12:20:42 PM
Yes, Kaspa is not profitable anymore for gpus. Undecided

Party is over....waiting for next vram intensive coin or core and vram intensive along with 5xxx series hehe

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Future of GPU mining, what's your plan? on: March 30, 2023, 10:44:27 AM
Golden era for GPU mining was 2015 Ethereum. You would be mining for breakeven electricity cost. In hindsight all you had to was hodl few years. You would net x1000 return on this mining investment.

Too bad. Now that is behind. ETH went from PoW to PoS.

For GPUs currently it is Conflux and that isn't too attractive.

Future of GPU mining is in shambles. I am not too optimistic about it.
NEXA (NEXA) looks more attractive and the coin has a good profit on new video cards. I would not hope for a big profit on old video cards that showed good results when mining ethereum. And 500 days payback looks very good in such a market.
See reviews on new video cards, 4070 and 4060 coming soon

ethereum is a vram coin, 3xxx is gddr6x same with 4xxx. 4xxx is old tech(more like refresh), 5xxx should do hehe

...

Devolution..this shit is devolving year after year.

Not only Dash.

After beeing a long time on Bitcoin Wallet Version 20 I downloaded the latest Wallet and I was faced with Address type choose. I mean I knew about segwit but now beeing faced to have to choose one of those cryptic for normal user nothing saying address types... I had to google them and read what they are doing.

They really destryed Bitcoin with their Segwit thing. Things should become simple and easy to understand for users not more cryptic and more confusing.

I don't like what is happening. If you think about it out of all this 1000 of coins there is hardly anyone usefull today. How could we hit a wall so hard!?
No wonder Crypto isn't attractive for anyone else than some investors that hope to gain some money through speculations.

The deep state, the powers that be, the new world order...it is destroying/attacking crypto.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: March 27, 2023, 08:07:21 PM
I had to do a critical fast transaction lately (time limited) and figured out that the destination supports all sorts of altcoins but Dash coin. So sad Dash had been perfect for that.
So I tired litecoin and the transaction failed to make it in time. Value lost. No drama it wasn't a big amount. I ended up using a converter to doge coin and sending doge just to be sure it makes it in time although I never possesed any doge coins.

Also I used CoinJoin.. it is a long time since I used that and I figured that there is a problem for a user like me that after a time forgets certain restrictions.

Despite haveing a lot more in mixed coins it refused to send with autocalculated transaction fees.
So no biggy I switched to manual..but then it failed because it said it can't match the value with the mixed coins.

Took me a time to remember that in that case I will have to create a new internal address and send a mixed value that works to it and then send from that address.

So maybe this could be improved (automated?) for the user because honestly this can only be done by someone that has a better base knowledege in crypto and wallets.

Will Evolutions really come out this year after beeing anounced for years and years?  And don't you think that it is too late for that already? Dash is gone from various coin accepting shops. So how should it happen that it becomes listed and used again? Just my thoughts. Not blameing anyone.
cheers

Devolution..this shit is devolving year after year.

when the pump comes this would hurt very very much. welcome to crypto and sorry for your loss, hard lessons comes and hope you learn from it.

this crypto place is filled with vile snakes  Wink

This is not my first time getting hacked and I have learned my lessons. The problem is that no matter the fact we managed to get 1 million KAS for Ledger Nano development its been 4+ months and the app is not ready yet. Also I didn't expect paid Bitdefender antivirus on my PC and GitHub to allow malware apps on their site

You got keylogged?

Another layer of security is a software keyboard like neo safekeys, unless you got videologged.

Make layers of security, make a mess so that even with remote access finding stuff is a head ache.

A software keyboard once saved a shitcoin i owned hehe

The best news about RTX 4070 graphics cards

The Inno3D RTX 4070 non-Ti graphics card will indeed have an 8-pin power connector. This is a confirmation of a 1-day-old rumor that some RTX 4070 cards may appear without the new 16-pin (12VHPWR connector). The packaging that was pictured and shared on Chinese social platform clearly mentions the standard 8-pin connector for this card.

Given what we know about the RTX 4070 SKU, this would be the cheaper variant, most likely to be sold near the MSRP (NVIDIA suggested retail price), which is not known yet. It is also one of the first RTX 4070 cards that we know to feature a dual fan cooling solution.

https://videocardz.com/newz/inno3d-geforce-rtx-4070-graphics-card-to-feature-one-8-pin-power-connector

I am curious to see the total performance and consumption of these two gpus mining (4060 and 4070), since the TDP is 200w of the 4070 non oc
The fact that it is only 8 pin is very good for rigs, it is much easier to manage the cables, psu and heat.

In the last generation, the 3060ti and 3070 were excellent gpus that gave no problems for me, practically 24/7 mining, 60mhs, without instability and small adjustments for it to reach the maximum hashrate.
Maybe the 4070 will be the sweet spot.

I don't have any 4xxx generation cards yet, but I'm keeping an eye out for any changes in mining. I am ready to buy some gpus, if the price are good and I see that the profitability can come back to an acceptable level with the price of my electricity.

Anyone here with plans to already buy the 4070?
If I remember well, the msrp will be $749?

Reminds me of the rx480 with 8pin..but i'm guessing the nvidia 5xxx is a good jump in performance if not it will be like the rx580 where miners just stick to rx480 because there no significant improvement.

Back then ETH's memory intensive algo was the trend so HBM took the high end part of mining.

Here is my take. An ROI'd card is always better than the best card for mining, if you can profit now then take it.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Future of GPU mining, what's your plan? on: March 20, 2023, 08:42:39 AM
Wait, you say that 1 GPU generates roughly 4 times more money with TBminer? I don't know too much about mining but as far as I know, when you mine coin, your GPU with whole resources is 100% focused on that coin, people even overclock it for maximum performance. If you mine two coins, than your GPU will automatically dedicate half of hashrate to one coin and another half to another coin, right? But as you say, KASPA doesn't use the memory part of the GPU, then what part is used?
Can you link any calculator that gives us possibility to calculate the maximum profitability potential by including mining of as much coin as possible without significantly interapting with GPU performance?

Some coins can be mined together because they use different parts of the parallel gpu, or they have long pauses between the POW work. Kaspa is using the cache-memory and the cores inside the gpu. While the gpu is waiting for the random memory to complete, the cores are idle and can perform more work. ZIL POW is only 1 minute of mining every hour, and ETC is only able to use 5-10%

ETC (5-10% of standalone)
VTC (99% of standalone speed)
ZIL (100% of standalone speed) (59 minutes idle with 0 gpu usage, and 1 minute of 100% gpu usage)
KASPA (80% of standalone speed)

Another profitable combo with the TBM miner is ETC+RVN+ZIL. Kaspa cannot be mined with raven because raven is using most of the cores already

LOL 1080ti's are among with 280x/7970 as one of the best cards of their time and did a multi generation of usefulness.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying a video card for the next mining season on: February 13, 2023, 10:20:10 AM
just remember the price of 2080ti just a month before 3070 was released (2080ti more expensive), around same performance with 3070 but 3070 is cheaper and more efficient.

yeah old gpus will earn in a bullrun just don't go full retard on old gpus hehe. more efficient cards will mine last longer before you turn them off in the peak bear market hehe.

there is also an issue with space, you might have the cash to buy new cards but you don't have electrical space and actual space to place the new gen cards hehe
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying a video card for the next mining season on: February 12, 2023, 09:21:25 AM
the next generation after gddr6x. 2xxx is a bear market series 4xxx is a bear market series. 5xxx series is the target, you can't rush things hehe
In the bull market, even old graphics cards were profitable, but we don't know if the 2000 and 3000 series will be profitable in 2024 or later when the Nvidia RTX 5090 comes out.

true but..

there is always a "what if" after a new generation of tech is released there could be an enormous leap in performance like from 9xx to 1xxx and electricity savings from more efficient tech.

there is also a small window of opportunity to buy those new cards cheap before bullrun starts hehe, but who knows if the PTSD is too strong you wouldn't want to buy those new cards hehe.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Whats the downside of Crypto GPU mining? on: January 31, 2023, 07:59:22 AM
I had the issues with the bad solder joints but mining had nothing to do with the cause. Many gamers had the same issue with dead GPUs which they had to bake in oven to get going again.

The most likely cause of the joints cracking is the heavy heatsink and the GPU might of been improperly shipped. Also another common reason is if you try and reapply pause, the old dry paste is glued on and you have to pull it harder and it ends up cracking the joints. Hence why I stopped reapplying thermal paste. It did nothing in terms of temperature, only increased risk of damaging the gpu.

old thermal paste that dried up tends to be "not sticky" anymore, from my experience. maybe your cards are cool and the paste don't need reapplying, you even say that it does not improve temps, yeah as long as they are not over heating do not change them.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are your plans for the coming year? on: January 12, 2023, 12:58:29 PM
There are regions in Russia with a price of 0.01-0.02 USD/EUR/kW, such as the Irkutsk region. In large-scale production, electricity prices are cheaper due to large consumption. Prices for citizens are regulated by the regulations of the energy commission in each region. And the price does not depend on the consumption of 100 kilowatts or 15,000 kilowatts. The problem of many villages in Russia is that there are very old transformers and if the miners turn on their mining farm, then the voltage in the electrical network drops. Residents are complaining, power engineers are starting to look for miners. Smiley

But in these cases, have the authorities shut down the miners? Are there fines or worse things going on?

What is the possibility that a benefactor miner wants to improve the locality's network? It's possible?
In regions with cheap electricity, villages are usually built to rent out to miners.
If the power engineers come with the police, they can confiscate the equipment. Then, through the court, the power engineers can force the miner to pay at the commercial rate.
If you are talking about replacing transformers and electrical wires in the whole village, then it is very expensive. This will require coordination with energy organizations, fire departments, and will take a lot of time, but you will still have certain consumption limits. It is not profitable.

LOL, residents complaining is the source of the problem.

it is the voltage drop where lights flicker and dims and motors run weird since the ideal running voltage is too low.

miners should redistribute miners according to distribution transformers, if voltage start to drop to 200-205v in transformer A for homes number 1-10 then proceed to transformer B for homes 11-20 for expansion, or let the power company install a transformer if you can but that will probably get their attention to the mining operation.
In the Russian village there is no Transformer A, Transformer B, and Transformer C. I am not a power engineer, but about 60-100 houses are connected to 1 transformer of 330 kilowatts. In Russia, electricity is sold by one company, while another company (2) maintains transformers and wire lines. The company that sells electricity pays money to the company (2) for the service. For company 2, the installation of modern transformers is a loss. The cities have more modern energy systems, but electricity is more expensive there.
Therefore, when several cunning miners connect to the village transformer, the voltage in the power grid drops and the evil Russian people go to beat the face of the local power engineer. And then the whole village is looking for miners Smiley

I'm no power engineer but i think 330 KW and 60-100 houses, math does not check out, that's 5.5 kw per house(at 60 houses), too low even before you put the 20% allowance (4.4kw), an electric kettle is already going for 2kw.

The wiring too has a problem after going out of 330kw transformer that wire has to be very thick and then spliced to smaller wires before reaching houses.

I believe the logical distribution transformer is 25-75kva, 330kw must be before the distribution transformers.

190v is where things starts to get fucked up, i can imagine those angry ignorant villagers on the riot LOL.

I am not a power engineer and wrote approximate data. Even in the village where I have a house, the price of houses is from 3,000 to 200,000 dollars. For 3000 dollars a ruined house, for 7-8 thousand it is a good house for mining farms, in which you need to invest another 2 thousand dollars. In areas where rich people live, houses cost from 100,000 dollars, there are modern transformers, according to the project, 15-30 kilowatts of power is allocated for each house. There is security, excellent roads. The miner needs a house that is not connected to gas in order to get the maximum discount on electricity, because the heating is electric. Do not think that Russia has problems with electricity or infrastructure. It is not profitable for me to buy a house more than $10,000.

10k houses with 15-30kw capacity, wow, cheap houses and lots of electricity. If you get lucky in crypto you might own a lot of houses in different villages hehe.

Don't share too much, governments might hunt miners when central bank digital currencies rolls out.

Well, it depends on how many transformers the village has.

But unfortunately, I believe that in very poor regions this happens, greatly limiting the use of electricity. Making it so that a stranger starts consuming a lot of energy, creating an unpleasantness in the community.

In the electrical connection, everything counts, from the transformer to the wires. If everything is very old, even in theory it may have a lot of capacity, but in practice this is not the case.

Regrettably, the greed of companies wanting more profits, means that they do not renew the electrical installations in the localities and the problems will be felt over the years.

what i mean is 330kw is more like a substation transformer than distribution transformers.

another thing with one transformer for 60-100 houses, if there is a failure there will be a bigger outage.

what i'm pointing out earlier is the distribution transformers is the A, B, C, that should be distributed with miners to prevent voltage drop to 200v.. yes it will drop if the substation got too loaded from distribution transformers A, B, C, D, E, F, G. spreading load to A, B, C, will maximize mining operations, overloading transformer A will make people from transformer A riot hehe.

the wires of 330KW as i pointed out is 300 MCM if copper and 500 MCM for aluminum, typical houses are just AWG 4 and 6, maybe AWG 8 too. the chart (https://www.encorewire.com/products/tools-and-resources/calculators/wire-size-table.html)will show you that those thick wires are in the substation and not in the poles where houses are built.
