Oh and no BTC bounties for now since the fees are so high. Happy to send DOGE or LTC instead please.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins still being traded. on: November 24, 2017, 11:33:51 PM
fantastic thread but may do way better on the alt coin section... .but i love this idea

also

I don't want 20bucks because the list is of great use to us all.

However I am sure quark can not be correct i was not here on that date but I mined quark on inception.

I am pretty sure chn if that is china coin is a bit too early too since I mined that on launch too.

Yeah, I also though that seemed a bit early a date for Quark.

Thanks! I fixed up Quark. Looking at chn tho, i'm not sure. On the date i have and the ANN post i can see ppl talking about mining it on that day. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192243.0

But then maybe it was a screwed up launch and relaunch soon after? Also some on there early mentioning that it was actually launched earlier on another forum so bitcointalk date may not be accurate either as the true launch.....Same bounty if someone can sort this one out and explain the proof of when it launched. Thanks.

Hello, I found a coin in 2014 which you do not have. I suggest you add it to the list. It's called Machinecoin (MAC).
However, it is a pity that you do not pay bounty for 2014  Grin

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/machinecoin/

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434190.0

Wish i could pay for 2014! But bottom line, don't think i could afford that! I figured the 2013 was pretty close and wouldn't cost me too too much.

Thanks tho, glad to add 2014 coins too!

Now we have the night, I'll continue the search tomorrow and in the future. I was glad to see the thread alive and will try to find more coins which you have in the list.

Great! Thank you!
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins still being traded. on: November 24, 2017, 11:13:55 PM
Thank you for this list,  I actually didn't ever hear about some of the currencies on this list,  so I may actually take a look at some of them and see what they are.  Perhaps there's one that's actually really good.  Will report back if I find something incredible.

Cool, glad you like it! I think a lot of these coins are pretty incredible. Many are very cheap in regards to market cap, so new investors can get into crypto on these old coins and actually buy a significant share of supply. Also, they have years of price history to see what the market looks like long term.

Also, many of them have their original devs- that's huge in a space where crypto coding knowledge is gold. These people were launching cryptos before anyone had ever heard of an ICO- and have been doing tech support ever since. And these ICOs that old coins compete with, they have huge market caps. The devs are instantly rich and guaranteed to be long term sellers, unlike these old devs who've probably been buying up their own coins with their own hard earned money for years. Who is going to be more loyal to the project??

Tech innovation in crypto is going to make a lot of new fancy coins irrelevant as well. As more people are working on Bitcoin tech, things like smart contracts, scaling, atomic swaps...all of it is coming to every coin- even the old ones eventually. So if all coins have all functions and become equals the only thing left to base their value on will be which are oldest.
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins still being traded. on: November 24, 2017, 11:04:12 PM

If I get a bounty, I'll look for more and probably find it. I stopped at the first coin I found, because it seemed to me that the thread was abandoned by the creator

Yea sorry again about dropping away for a while. I'm definitely on this and will keep it updated eventually. Sent you some DOGE. And yea happy to send more if you can help update the list further.

Thanks!
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins still being traded. on: November 24, 2017, 10:14:39 PM
OK hopefully everyone got their bounties now. Again sorry for the wait.

RC though, sorry man, screwed yours up. Of course i forgot about the massive BTC fees right now from spam attacks. Forgot to calculate fees on yours and it took a bunch, still owe you another $10-$20 i think. But i don't want to pay $20 in fees again if thats ok. If youre still around if you could send me another address. LTC, DOGE even RC is fine. Thanks again for the help!

And if i screwed up someones bounty, please let me know. Honest mistake. I'm not after something for nothing here!

Thanks
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins still being traded. on: November 24, 2017, 09:42:43 PM
Has anyone received their $20 as yet?

Nope, I suspect I won't......good thing it didn't take more than 3 minutes time.

Agreed - too many people want something for nothing in this Forum.  Angry

Sorry guys, just got busy with real life and forgot to settle up. On it now. And yea i did pay at least one person so far....

Weird tho I see someone is killing the traffic for this post. If you google search it you find a post with the same name and a spammy link.

http://cryptometer.org/ just know this site for a long time, looks different to this one ?

Cool site, but seems incomplete. Also, lots of coins that are defunct.

The purpose of this list is a quick guide if you want to buy old coins. What is still for sale out there and when did it launch. Amazing that no such list exists anywhere already. Plenty of old lists from 2014 though that are out of date and not maintained. I figure by now though, the list will be easier to maintain as most things have died off.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins on: November 02, 2017, 09:09:59 PM
What about OneCoin?
Is this a real cripto or a scam?
Opinions are divided..... Undecided

I only looked at that once and can't remember what it was exactly. Didn't the developers have an infinite supply or something crazy. My understanding was it wasn't really a crypto at all. Also, not listed currently on CMC which i'm using as the basis for all decisions.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins on: November 02, 2017, 09:07:01 PM
Awesome thanks everyone. Learning a lot, sweet memories.... Will catch up with bounties shortly- thanks for the help!

how did i miss mooncoin?

To the moon! haha.

hmmm. I don't want to give bad advice here. I'm not saying dump all your MAR. This remains, as its been the whole time, a lotto ticket. It remains entirely possible that a new dev, or the old dev, is about to release a new worthwhile update and is simply being dramatic to suppress the price and buy in heavier (while not being so elusive that people could afterwards call him a liar). After all, if dev was doing something nefarious with this hard fork- what kind of profitable scam could come out of that? The coin is already worthless and has no buyers, so there isn't anyone left to scam and dump to.

I will admit that over the years i have bought into several scam coins. The only consistent behaviour from scammer devs is that they leave completely when they can't make any more money. If MAR DEV is talking, one way or another its because he figures he can make money from MAR. Since MAR is worthless, the only way to make money from it would be to one way or another raise the price.

Roll a couple, wait and see what happens.

I've already seen some similar ICO, why are you different?

This coin is over 4 years old and had a fair launch. Govs are cracking down, rightly, on ICOs. They can't crack down on truly decentralized older coins that have no official owner/operators.

Also, look at market caps. This coin isn't worth much at all. These coins at the bottom of the list can only go 2 ways- up, or de-listed and disappear. XJO is over 4 years old and has its original dev. If it hasn't disappeared from existence by now, hard to imagine its going to disappear any time soon. So you buy, wait, and then one day its amazing.

I just wanted to say "thank you" for recognizing Goldcoin (GLD) as being one of the first cryptocurrencies. We have 6 developers now and are finally getting some well-deserved attention.

Our Winter roadmap is underway and on schedule: https://www.gldcoin.com/roadmap/

The spring is shaping up to be a real Blast. Thanks again for the great list! Smiley

Thanks for stopping by! I'll admit making this list has gotten me to invest in some GLD already. Was checking out your info when looking for your launch details, your coin sadly has been under my radar... Congrats on the longevity!

I got into a long argument years ago with a guy from Bitgold, about how his "coin" wasnt a crypto at all and hense not really innovative.... I think that argument helped me form a prejudice against coins with "gold" reference.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins on: November 02, 2017, 01:00:10 PM
Damn, know i looked up Russia and Caps and dismissed them for some reason. I had a feeling i've been looking at them for years tho.....lol, I'm not a very good researcher i'll admit! Will check these out thanks!
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins on: November 02, 2017, 12:57:19 PM
They had BTG back in 2013? I knew it they planned this for years. lol. every crypto coin has something in it copied from Bitcoin, could any body build a coin from scratch without taking anything from Bitcoin? every coin listed here are now either 1 Sat or 10,000 Sat. Ł is exception.

Every innovation, every artwork, every single idea is built from previous ideas. Bitcoin was also derived from many different techs. Bitcoin's brilliance wasn't so much inventing something new as it was bringing many different things together in an incredible new form.

Prices are irrelevant when comparing crypto to crypto as coin supplies vary. Market cap is the best way gauge a coin's value. For instance: "42" coins (7/1/14) are worth $12000 dollars each- which sounds impressive. But its market cap is only 500k and its trade volumes rarely break 10k per day.....Whereas Litecoin has a price of $40 per coin, but has a multi-billion market cap and hundreds of millions of dollars in trading every day.

Hi Goldcoin crowd!

I'm compiling a list of the oldest surviving cryptos. Having some difficulty figuring out GLD's exact launch date back in may 2013. Any help please? Also, if you wanted to check out the list in progress and offer your input it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

List is here

Awesome! Thanks IMZ, great additions!

And please send me a pm with an xjo address or something else, I'd like to send you a bounty as thanks!
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins on: November 01, 2017, 11:26:38 PM
Look an interesting idea to put all the old crypto here! How old should be to be listed, before 2015? Thank mate I was looking for similar information

No worries man, glad to help shed some light. The long term plan here is to get 2013 and earlier locked down. Then if the list is popular and worth it, look at expanding to newer years. I think adding even 2014 would make the task a bit overwhelming, so 2014 is very incomplete....lets give it another year and wait for a few more 2014 coins to die out, then we'll expand.  Wink

In the meantime tho happy to add 2014 coins too, but please give me the links to cmc and ANN threads for proof (like the first submitter did). Thanks!
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ranking list of the oldest crypto coins on: November 01, 2017, 11:21:08 PM
Solidcoin is missing from the list...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38453.0

If memory serves me right it was a scam and doesn’t exist anymore.

Thanks man, but yea only going to add coins that are still being traded today.
