41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / World’s First Monument to Blockchain to be unveiled tomorrow on: March 12, 2018, 12:27:29 PM
Kranj, the fourth largest city of Slovenia, is going to be the first city in the world to have a Bitcoin monument built in a public space — a roundabout that connects Oldhamska and Gregorčičeva streets. The monument is to be a symbol of the growth of the overall crypto space and could potentially become a pilgrimage spot for the community.

Slovenia is a technology-friendly country which on some occasions has been designated as the “Silicon Valley of Europe”. However, until the advent of blockchain technology, the Central European country has seen little in the way of actual success.

The inauguration of the monument will be held on March 13th, 2018, and the monument will be a Bitcoin symbol.

The commemorative sculpture will be placed in the middle of a traffic roundabout, and the roads on each side will represent the decentralized connections on the network. The monument symbolizes the growth that bitcoin and blockchain could bring to the economy of Kranj.

Last year, the Danish professional hockey team Rungsted Seier Capital changed its arena name to “Bitcoin Arena”. It was one of the first physical structures to have a representation of the Bitcoin theme. Now we also have the Bitcoin roundabout to indicate the growing trend among people from around the world.

Slovenia – A Pro-Bitcoin Country

Recently, Slovenia tried to market itself as a destination for blockchain technology companies. The Slovenian government is formulating crypto-friendly policies to attract domestic and foreign companies to invest in the country.

The popular Bitcoin exchange Bitstamp was started in Slovenia by  Nejc Kodrič and Damijan Merlak. However, its  registration was later moved to the U.K., due to lack of access to financial services in Slovenia. That’s a big problem the government will need to overcome if it wants to retain its crypto stars.

Recently Dr. Miro Cerar, Prime Minister of Slovenia, referring to blockchain technology’s potential, said:

“The government is aware of Slovenia’s involvement in the global flows, and with our vision of modernization and digitization promotion in all areas, we are bringing to the fore the introduction of new technologies. We thus recognize blockchain technology as an exceptional opportunity: in this respect, Slovenia is at the forefront and one of the most recognized blockchain destinations in Europe.”

By announcing the inauguration of Bitcoin monument, Slovenia has shown its openness and willingness to embrace the distributed ledger technology — at least symbolically. The central European country is sending a message to the world that it is open to blockchain based projects, but will need to back up its symbolism with actual policies if it wants to profit from them.

42  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are You Afraid of KYC? on: March 12, 2018, 12:06:13 AM
Generally I'm not afraid because I only invest in those ICOs that I trust so I'm not afraid that they would use my data for other purposes.
And here is another reason why regulation is good when it comes to ICOs. Because if they are regulated with laws then company also needs to follow law about personal data protection.

Bumping this thread in hope that some forum moderators see this. I expect answer why this has not been done yet. Addition of 2FA shouldn't cost too much so where is the problem?

I like that low total supply. Are you going to launch job marketplace website no matter how much money you collect or you have a soft cap?

So your ICO began 10 days ago, how much did you raise so far? Why did you open ANN now, not before the launch?of ICO?
ICO bench rating is good, I will read your whitepaper and come back with a question or two.
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2018, 11:14:54 PM
Anyone else have problems with Bitcoinwisdom glitching?

Anyway I just wanted to say how good the charts are looking and what a nice steady, predictable bull market this has been.   I am really looking forward to more smooth sailing in 2018.   At our current growth rate, maybe we could hit $15k by mid year.  After that, anything is possible.

If some good news come out from international meetings like G20 summit and so on, much more than 15k can happen till June.
47  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-11] Tim Draper: Only Crypto Will Be Used For Payments in 5 Years on: March 11, 2018, 11:08:58 PM
I just hate how +90% our financial transactions and wealth is being processed and maintained by corporations, where for every action permission is required from a central party. Why does anyone need to ask for permission to move value from one place to another? It's mind boggling how the majority of the people still don't acknowledge how much of a problem this is. I care so little about fiat, that I haven't even cashed out one single Satoshi in the last 2 years, and will definitely not do so in the forthcoming years. I think I'm almost confident enough to say that I will probably never sell my coins for actual fiat. Seriously, why should anyone sell the future (Bitcoin) for something (fiat) that goes back in time, and only loses value? Makes zero sense. Just wait till the time is there, and you can spend your coins on actual goods in each and every store. Makes more sense.
I like your spirit! But please explain how do you pay for rent, food, hairdresser and so on. I doubt that they all accept bitcoins
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a mode of payment on: March 11, 2018, 11:02:23 PM
Bitcoin is not yet fully capable of performing the function of a payment facility due to its shortcomings with low scalability and still high commission fees. First he needs to eliminate these shortcomings.
Yes, the capaticity of Bitcoin network is not enough for the user of a country. Example only all Japanese people will use Bitcoin like the primary payment method to replace FIAT. I am sure just only this country will enough to make the transaction fees of Bitcoin "go to the moon" and take so long time to get confirmation.
With the new Lighting Network transaction confirmation system this will change. Transaction fees will stop increasing with higher transaction number and they will stay low no matter how busy the network is.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IN 10 years. on: March 11, 2018, 10:58:23 PM
in my opinion it will be our new currency which will have a stable price without fees. Mining still would continue as it takes a long time to mine the last btc in supply.
Why do you think it will have stable price? 9 years after bitcoin was created, the price is still very volatile. Why would that change in next 10 years?
50  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-11] Bitcoin Mining Giant Bitmain Sets Up Secret US Subsidiary on: March 11, 2018, 10:52:25 PM
Cryptocurrency mining specialist Bitmain may be quietly developing new facilities in America's Pacific Northwest, documents suggest.

While nothing has been stated publicly by Bitmain, the bitcoin mining hardware producer appears be connected to a new company called Ant Creek, LLC, that, reports say, is trying to build mining facilities in Washington state.

https://www.coindesk.com/bitmain-reportedly-developing-mining-facilities-in-pacific-northwest/

Expansion would certainly grow the value. What do you think?
Grow the value of what? Bitmain company?
I don't understand why would they want to mine in the USA when they have cheaper electricity in China or Kazahstan or Russia.
Maybe they will just produce miners there, or just have research and development.
51  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-03-11] NY Wealth Manager to Issue Loans Against Bitcoin on: March 11, 2018, 10:47:41 PM
I am sceptical about this. Which bank or loan company is going to take cryptocurrencies as collateral? This is just to risky because bitcoins can loose half of their value in few weeks if some bad news come out.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEED][ICO][BOUNTY]PacketMining–Smartphone Cryptocurrency Mining-BigBonus! on: March 11, 2018, 10:42:53 PM
First? And what about Electroneum? And why do you hide the names of developers?

Great question! We're not a payment platform, we are creating an environment for mobile users to actually mine crypto and trade it on exchanges. The interface will come across as more of a mining video game than a payment portal.

From section 2 of the White Paper:
"2. The Product
PacketMining is a blockchain based augmented application and server side code set that allows general consumers to utilize their smartphones to mine for reward coins without the inherent complexity of distributed ledgers and algorithmic decryption as a known aspect.

The mined PAKT coin itself becomes a commodity of demand by virtue of scarcity and the user effort required to ‘mine’ the reward, ensuring that time spent within the environment is both fun and personally beneficial."

Further on in that section you can see how we will be running an hourly "Mining Cycle" on the server side and the connected "Miners" on the app client side have to preform various "Mining Tasks" to stay in the cycle and take a chance at varying levels of rewards. Miners will literally be glued to their phones for the hour to ensure they get the coins. This is not Electrneum Wink

Thanks for the question, buy the seed stage coins now and watch what happens as we provide a fun, gamey, sticky mining experience for the global Smartphone user base.

The devs all have full time jobs now to support their families. Once we complete pre-ICO we are full time!!!

Thanks!
The Packet Mining Team

Smartphone Cryptocurrency Mining
I can see the difference with Electroneum and I like your idea about mining even more than their concept. But you need to know how big is Electroneum and it will be a difficult job to step out of their shadow. You will need to spend a lot on marketing.
What is the difference between minimum 3 mil dollars raised and hard cap 10 mil, just more marketing or you have some extra plans in case you collect 10 millions? If

I havea question about escrow which is part of Owlstand service. How are you going to decide in which case you disapprove transaction and when the painter still gets the payment even though the buyer is not fully satisfied. I guess this will be a rare occasion but it can happen.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pre Sale ICO and Airdrop - SLT Market on: March 11, 2018, 10:19:53 PM
Can you tell more about decentralized exchange concept. Are you thinking about something similar to Etherdelta so based on ethereum smart contacts (but this is limited to ERC20 tokens only) or how can an exchange be decentralized?

How are you going to pay for bounties and signature campaign if premine is so low?
56  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Buy bitcoin for someone else? on: March 09, 2018, 09:46:40 AM
Buying for someone else is not a problem, but when he decides to sell, he might have some problems, especially if profit from cryptocurrencies is taxed in your country. He will need to prove that he bought those bitcoins.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: my weekly roundup on cryptocurrencies on: March 09, 2018, 09:41:08 AM
My weekly round up on what I've done this week, what I've invested in and why I feel bitcoin will rise again after this dip - This is due to a lot of factors which I explain in the video,

https://youtu.be/ZYOn-dOerys
People are already creating reports on what they bought, sold, and why they did it...in my opinion, this world is going crazy.
What is wrong with that? I appreciate such summary because he explains reasons and lists arguments for his decisions. This can help other investors, especially beginners. Everyone needs to make his own research but you have to begin somewhere and listening a report of someone who is more experienced can be a good start
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Homeless use Bitcoin on: March 09, 2018, 08:08:38 AM
I laughed at first but then I remembered that this idea is not so stupid after all. I doubt that many people will donate on the street but such pictures can get viral and people who just saw it on Facebook or something might donate few dollars in bitcoin and this way a homeless man could raise significant amount.

Edit: I don't have Telegram and I don't plan to create it because it requires telephone number. Is that ok?

Please move this thread to Altcoin discussion board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0
Because it's not announcement but it is discussion about an altcoin/project.
