Fifth or sixth, Chelsea give hope for next season. Pochettino and all the players must be grateful for Palmer's incredible contribution so far too (22 goals, 10 assists). I'm curious about whether he will get offers this summer and how things will go on after that.

This should be Cole Palmer? Not Mauricio Pochetino, Yes? When they had some of them best players Injured, even when they had Jackson misbehaving with scoring goals, Cole Palmer was there carrying the club on his shoulder and advancing and progressing forward with them. Qualifications for the European Competitions is all they're after, maybe next season they go hard on qualifying for the Champions League Competition.

Yes, I said exactly that. They must be thankful for Palmer for this whole season. Because he has made the biggest contribution like I said. Guardiola stated before that he tried to stop him from leaving the team but couldn't do it. It is totally normal though. Why would Palmer want to stay there while it is a far possibility for him to play regularly?  Sad

When it comes to Pochettino I really am curious about his future. I think he would be retained. Chelsea have made a great progress and we can see its continuation by next season hopefully. They just need consistency.

I'm really curious about next season squad of PSG as even Mbappe is going to leave. It is time for them to learn how to play effectively as a team. They can't always rely on a single player like Mbappe.

They should of course find a solid replacement for Mbappe. I assume they have started working on it already. There are quite talented young players in the squad actually but we couldn't see a very impressive performance from them so far. I have bigger expectations from players such as Kolo Muani, Gonçalo Ramos and so on. I should exclude Vitinha from them though. Because I'm really impressed with him. He is one of the best contributors in the squad now.  Smiley

For the first time in harry kane's life. he is winning arsenal trophy. LMAO. It feels like that kane was rarely getting some lucks. Glad to see that if he was winning it to be the top scorer in the bundesliga but i must be honest that the design for a trophy for the top scorer shall be changed.

It likes kane owns arsenal.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Bundesliga can think to replace it since it will always remind us with arsenal "gooner is life"

It is funny and sad for Kane really. He has been collecting individual prizes really easily thanks to his great scoring capabilities. But there is still no team title achieved by him.  Sad  Hopefully this would change soon as he is playing for a team like Bayern Munich. He is just so unlucky that Xabi Alonso also came to Leverkusen at the same time.  Smiley

Anyways, we are talking about Bayern Munich. If they don't achieve anything in one season then they would achieve something in next season. It is just likely to be more difficult than before from now on as long as Leverkusen are this strong.

These are last chances for Napoli to qualify for a tournament. They are still two points behind Fiorentina and the bad news is Fiorentina have a missing game to play as well.  Sad

It seems like it will be really difficult for Napoli to do this job. Because this team just can't win you know. It has been five weeks without a win in the Serie A. The players have no morale left and it is hard to believe in them to perform this task on the remaining two game weeks. What do you think, can they do this? Fiorentina are dealing with the Conference League too on one hand. Meanwhile maybe they might give a chance for Napoli to get past them. But I don't think Napoli will do it.  Sad

Are Barcelona's results this season good? I don’t think so, Barcelona haven’t won a single tournament, this is a step back compared to last season. They may have progressed further in the Champions League, but they missed out on winning a home match in front of their fans, it was a very disappointing defeat due to a mistake by one player.

Xavi was left in the team because he gives himself completely to the game, he loves this team and you can feel it. Let's see how he carries out transfers in the offseason, it looks like he is going to strengthen the team well.

I agree with you on that. Barcelona haven't had a good season in general. They barely started to get good results after it was too late for a title competition. Their recent results turned into bad ones as well, for example the heavy Girona loss.  Sad  Xavi is aware of the problems in the team. This was the reason he wanted to leave first but he wants to stay and help this team improve now.

Will he be successful on that? I say why not. Because Xavi isn't actually a bad manager. He won a La Liga title with this team already. He could have done better things in the Champions League if it weren't for that devastating red card too.

Manchester United is rumoured to be interested in Ollie Watkins transfer this summer. Honestly he is one of the reasonable players to be targeted for the attacking line. However he won't be a cheap transfer at the same time. He is having his most productive season at Aston Villa now (19 goals, 13 assists in the Premier League). His current market value is 65 million euros.

Aston Villa can make a huge profit from a possible transfer. They signed him for 34 million euros 4 years ago. They know how keen Manchester United are about spending a lot of money for their targets.  Smiley  I don't expect Aston Villa to price him less than his current value.

As I have previously thought, Bayern Munich will still retain Tuchel for next season and the reason is of course because of the rejection of several coaching candidates. Bayern Munich has no other choice but to rely on Tuchel and at least there are still several players such as Neuer, Muller, Goretzka and Musiala who want him to stay.

Bayern Munich better think about other options later when there is an open door from another coach because I don't think Tuchel has failed too much considering that he succeeded in bringing Bayern Munich to the semi-finals of the Champions League and it is worth trying again even though they have to lose the title in the main competition.

After I saw your post I wanted to check to confirm whether there is really such thing. It seems like The Guardian has also shared news about this situation.

It is really interesting to see that. Because Bayern Munich officials were looking very determined about their decision. They didn't even want to wait for the end of the season to do that. Maybe they weren't expecting to have this big difficulties in finding a replacement. They must have been rejected by 3 or 4 managers so far. But there are still other options out there. They act like there is nobody left.  Grin

Anyways, if they continue wih Tuchel maybe he would prove everyone wrong about him and have a much better season this time.

Chelsea have made a really great progress in the recent times if you have noticed. They are most probably finishing the season in top 6 which secures the Conference League ticket as well. Moreover, there is a chance for finishing at the fifth position as well. However it seems like a really low chance. Because I assume Tottenham wouldn't lose their Sheffield game right?  Tongue

Fifth or sixth, Chelsea give hope for next season. Pochettino and all the players must be grateful for Palmer's incredible contribution so far too (22 goals, 10 assists). I'm curious about whether he will get offers this summer and how things will go on after that.

Luis Díaz the effective player of Liverpool linked to Barcelona. Luis Díaz had a good performance during this season so far while playing for Liverpool and I am sure Liverpool wants to keep this player in the team but since Klopp is leaving there is the possibility for Luis Díaz to leave the team and join Barcelona.
However, this player won't be cheap at all for a team like Barcelona, and I'm not sure if Barcelona can even supply the money for hiring Luis Díaz for their team. They can improve the team but I don't think if they have the enough money for it.

Luis Diaz would be a great transfer for Barcelona. He is a very capable winger. But his cost would surely be not low at all. His current market value is 75 million euros. Liverpool signed him for 50 million euros.

After this performance so far, Liverpool would surely want to make a solid profit in his sale. But if Barcelona are targeting to get more productive Diaz is one of the right choices. However they shouldn't overlook the problems in defense as well. I have said this many times, they are conceding too many goals. Obviously they need to make some changes in the area. I don't think their finances are too bad anymore. As long as they abide by FFP they can sign good players.  Smiley

What a fierce final! Maybe I overrated this Atalanta team, but Juventus was just lucky based on ball possession. Juventus didn't dominate, but they won the league! It was an intense final, and Dusan Vlahovic was amazing, carrying Juventus to win the Coppa Italia trophy. The Old Lady is back to their best. Congratulations, Bianconeri!
I don't regret supporting this team today because they made my day. Thank you, Old Lady.
Atalanta will lose another final in Europa league. Leverkusen will finish them off. Congratulations to Leverkusen in advance.

Honestly I think it was a boring final.  Sad  Because both teams were so clumsy when it comes to finding the target. 0 on target for Atalanta and 2 for Juventus. When we saw that early goal by Vlahovic I thought we would watch many goals. Juventus did the best thing they could, they mainly focused on securing the current score.

Congratulations to Juventus on winning a trophy in such a tough season! The Serie A has been going on like a nightmare for them. After a point they started to lose so many points. I hope to see better performances next season but first they need to strengthen the squad with new transfers.

There have been many young players waiting for chances on Real Madrid bench. However among them Arda Güler has quickly started to shine a short time after joining the team.  Smiley

He scored his fourth goal in the latest game. He doesn't waste any opportunity and you must have seen Ancelotti's reaction after his most recent goal. As long as Arda plays like this I expect him to find many more chances as of the beginning of next season. But it wouldn't be easy to find those in the starting eleven of course. But even if he plays for like 30 minutes by being substituted, it would be a good amount of time for him to improve. Otherwise a loan option would be the best for him.

It is over for Nice when it comes to their Champions League chance. I was expecting the PSG game to be difficult even though PSG announced their championship. But at least Nice guaranteed the Europa League title qualification. If they were a more productive team I would expect a bigger success from them. Because the season actually started really well for them.  Smiley

By the way we didn't see Mbappe in this game. As these are his last days at PSG I would expect him to take part in the remaining games. I wonder whether he didn't want it or Luis Enrique didn't want to.  Huh

I haven't checked their Bundesliga League Standing in a white, After that four one lose to Liepzig, I was thinking they'll miss out. What's the rule behind this new qualification please?
Because last time I checked, we had Bayern Leverkusen, Stuggart, Bayern Munich and Liepzig amongst the first top four clubs.

The Champions League format is going to change by next year you know. There are going to be 36 teams from now on and there will be a league-like phase rather than groups.

They are giving an extra quota for some European leagues to get those additional 4 teams (as normally there were 32 teams in the Champions League). It is said that these quotas are given according to the sporting merits, the success of countries in the Champions League and other UEFA tournaments. The Serie A and Bundesliga are the ones getting this chance as far as I can see now. I don't know about the other ones yet.
54  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 15, 2024, 03:50:15 PM

Girona's defeat against Vilarreal never occurred to me...

After securing the Champions League ticket Girona started to play more complacently which is normal. First a draw against Alaves and now a loss at home. Probably Barcelona will finish the season at the second position from now on. They continue to win after that Girona loss. Xavi wants to finish at the best position they can at least.

Maybe not mathematically but Atletico Madrid are also going to the Champions League obviously. Athletic Bilbao started to mess up earlier and that Atletico Madrid loss just ended their hopes. Still it is a great season for them with a Copa del Rey title.  Smiley

Oil money continues to win!  Tongue  I wish West Ham still had some goal left in the league. It would have made their Manchester City game more interesting to follow.

But instead, we are probably going to see them destroyed by Manchester City at Etihad. I still want to keep my hopes up for Arsenal to win the title. Who knows, this is football. Maybe West Ham would prove me wrong and somehow make serious difficulties for them. Arteta and his students have made a really great effort until this point. It wasn't like the previous season. If they can't win the title, the Aston Villa loss and the chance Son wasted last night will haunt them.  Sad

Aziz Yıldırım, who announced his candidacy for Fenerbahçe presidency, announced that he met with Jose Mourinho. During his previous presidency, Aziz Yıldırım had transferred footballers such as Anelka and Alex. He is a person who likes to bring world-class star names to the team. He can also bring Jose Mourinho to the team. However, the annual fee demanded by Jose Mourinho seemed too high to me. No Turkish club has ever paid such an annual fee to a technical director before. If we pay 15 million euros to Jose Mourinho and his technical team, how will we finance new transfers? There is no doubt that Jose Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world, but I think we have to make a proper financial planning.

Today I read some news like Aziz Yıldırım is preparing a budget like 300 million euros. If this is true then it is a really insane amount of money considering the level of the Turkish league. With this kind of a budget, Fenerbahçe can start next season much stronger. Now there are some other rumours like Ali Koç wants to answer Aziz Yıldırım's Mourinho move by making an offer to Zidane.  Tongue

But I don't think Zidane would even think about this offer. He isn't even interested in managing big European teams these days. I would never expect him to sign for a team in the Turkish league in this situation.

Dortmund are having one of their best seasons really. They have qualified for the Champions League finale and secured their Champions League spot in the Bundesliga as well.

Securing that was thanks to the extra quota given to the Bundesliga though but anyway.  Grin  No matter Terzic wins the Champions League title or not, I think his contract likely to be extended soon. Currently it is ending by next summer. If I were in Dortmund board's place I would sign him for one more year now.

Football is really full of surprises. Some time ago, I was thinking like Terzic might be under danger of getting sacked due to doing bad in the Bundesliga.  Smiley
58  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 15, 2024, 08:55:44 AM
Juventus started the first half of the season well. And made the second half of the season very bad for themselves. Well Juventus played like it wasn't the strong club we saw at the start of the season. They seem to have lost their abilities in the field. the players even lose more accuracy when shooting the ball into the opponent's goal. I don't understand what Juventus is really going through. but yeah it's been a pretty bad season. Fortunately, Juventus will probably still be able to get tickets to the UCL.

Napoli are much worse. They have started the season badly and look like they will end the season badly too.

This squad isn't strong enough. It is normal to see them dropping from the title competition this easy. They need immediate transfers for especially midfield. An attacker transfer wouldn't also be bad. Vlahovic and Chiesa have decent performances but there isn't any other player making a good contribution in this area at the same time.  Sad

Allegri isn't the real problem here as a result. He has a great history with Juventus as well you know. If he has a strong squad in his hands then I won't doubt him much. They had better get ready for spending a good amount of money this summer.
59  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: May 15, 2024, 08:41:32 AM
Lyon won away to Clermont and increased their points to 50. Clermont's chances of staying in the league were already over in my opinion and this match becomes even more important for Lyon. With this win, Lyon is now level on points with Lens going into the last week on equal points. It will be interesting to see who will finish 6th in the league. With 2 teams guaranteed to stay in the league, it will be interesting to see who will lose points or finish 6th in the league.

Yeah there is a huge opportunity for Lyon to qualify for the Conference League now.  Smiley  The thing is that Lyon and Lens' opponents on the final week are both aimless. Both of these games are at home for Lyon - Lens too.

Considering this Lyon have a really difficult job to do. Goal difference advantage is on Lens now and there is no way Lyon are getting better at that (the gap is 15 goals). Lyon will just win and hope for Montpellier to do something against Lens. I hope to see Lyon making it to the Conference League honestly. Because there is a huge effort there. They have reached this point from the last position in the standings. This is a huge progress you know.

Jose Mourinho has still been looking for a job. He is really keen on returning to his job recently as you can understand from his recent statements as well. It doesn't look like he cares about where to work much either.

I have only heard about Fenerbahçe's interest in him. There is a chairman election soon and one of the candidates is targeting to bring him to the team. Mourinho looks okay with that however his cost won't be cheap for sure. If I'm not wrong he wants 12 million euros yearly for himself and 3 million euros for his crew.

If this transfer doesn't happen then maybe he might see Saudi Arabia as another option. I haven't heard of any other European team being interested in him recently.  Sad
