41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Potential Portfolio Analysis on: February 16, 2018, 11:31:50 PM
Thank you everyone for your input so far! I read something about XVG only having 1 developer (as everyone else left). Is this true? If so, yikes! What are your opinions on Spectrecoin and/or Deeponion as opposed to XVG ? Also, what are your thoughts on STRAT vs WAVES?
I don't really know about Stratis, but Waves could/should grow quite a bit this year. They are putting out their smart contracts soon and their blockchain is about 100 times faster than Ethereum. As a result, prices of a few hundred USD could be reached reasonably.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][ICO] CHIMAERA 🌟True Blockchain Gaming🌟 on: February 16, 2018, 01:38:20 PM
NO KYC FOR BOUNTY CAMPAIGN

Chimaera's legal counsel has looked further into the bounty KYC issue. After consideration, we will not be performing KYC for the bounty campaign. Instead, the bounty campaign will revert back to as it was, and everyone is welcome to participate.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Our concern for ensuring that we are properly in compliance with all regulations led us to play it safe. Our further investigation leads us to believe that we are already compliant without requiring KYC for bounty participants.

We hope that you understand and continue to support Chimaera by participating in our bounty program.

Phew, I just read about this and was getting put off and hoping that at least the sub10k threshold would exempt me from KYC. Glad everything is back to what it was originally.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What if we were all wrong on: February 11, 2018, 10:11:04 PM
nothing to worry about. It will take a little bit but I bet it will soon recover in the near future. I guess it's 1-2 months
Absolutely yes, we dont have to worry with these situation of bitcoin. We know price fluctuates so much and we should not be surprise with it. Bitcoin becomes strong it's challenges even price fall down it will recover as we should expected.

True, as everyone expects, and perhaps the beginning of the hike will begin today.
Today bitcoin is trading at $ 8,681.02, I think this is a good price, maybe tomorrow bitcoin prices go up beyond today.
From a historical perspective some further sideways movements would be likely. But I sure wouldn't mind being wrong and seeing a breakout to over 10k.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Yesterday India, today china, tomorrow USA on: February 11, 2018, 09:48:35 PM
When will people understand that cryptos can not possibly be banned?
I think people understand, but there's the second thing, they can ban all big exchanges and if they do it, the effect will be huge.
Nobody who knows what is happening will ever seriously care about anyone banning "all big exchanges".

First of all, it's impossible that all big exchanges will be banned because countries like Switzerland have a vested interest in being the finance capital of the world, which will lead to liberal regulations regarding the new paradigm that is Bitcoin.
Secondly, decentralized exchanges are in the making which can not possibly be taken down by any regulatory institution. Both effects combined make sure that Bitcoin will not die and come back stronger than before if a large amount of countries decided to go to war against cryptos.

And in the meantime, weak and uneducated hands will get shaken out, while institutional money gets to load up on discounted Bitcoins.

It's up to you if you want to fall into their trap or not.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC of bounty hunters on: February 11, 2018, 09:45:18 PM
KYC is specifically meant for ICO investors not bounty hunters. Therefore I don't see the need for KYC on the part of bounty hunters. I think many bounty campaigns are doings this to make fake accounts stay away.
There's an increasing amount of bounty campaigns that require KYC. And the figure will be rising if people play along with it blindly in exchange for a few bucks.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: February 11, 2018, 09:44:25 PM
I think most of us know this is a scam coin, however most of us trying to dump it before the other people and make a profit, it will be a scam coin to the newbie who purchase it, not for the group promoting it and get it for free
Why would you support a scam instead of using your money to support real ICOs that have an actual chance of succeeding long-term at much higher profits than this ponzi scheme?

48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC of bounty hunters on: February 09, 2018, 11:00:50 PM
Avoid, new precedent trying to be set, the more people the give in, then you'll have to give you info out for every single airdropped/bounty out there.
It's very dangerous for you to trust these non-reputable individuals with your information and for the future of cryptos as a whole, yet no one is discussing this.

You can blame Polymath for this, they don't want to work harder filter to filter puppets, so instead they want your ID.

Edit: There is probably nothing we can do to stop this, because the vast majority of people trying to do airdrops are very likely to hand over their info without a second thought. This has major repercussions, some of the worst repercussions we will see ever in crypto.

The best thing you can do if you're reading this, is to not give in to these new information whores, who are more than likely to flip your IDs on the darkweb for a profit.
Sheep always walk to the slaughterhouse without objecting.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: February 09, 2018, 10:20:31 PM
Hello,
I just joined the Deep Onoin platform and googled it and saw this thread. I am still new to this and I saw this post. I noticed it was from a while ago. It seems like there are some disagreements with this project. So far I am excited about the privacy but I am still a novice. If anybody can educate me on the disagreements, that will be great.
The baseline is that the majority of the coin supply belongs to less than 10 addresses. There have also been numerous lies about "airdropping" coins, even though you were required to do work as well as to purchase coins in order to receive some. The promised features also haven't been delivered even though they were announced for Q4 2017, which means that DeepSend is almost half a year late now. There's also a lot of censorship going on whenever anything critical is posted in the ANN or on their forum apparently. All in all, it's safe to assume that this is a ponzi scheme that pays people in worthless tokens to advertise aggressively.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin is best at 1k on: January 19, 2018, 07:54:19 PM
Scaling will eventually be solved and Bitcoin will be just as quick and efficient as it was around its inception. Just be patient.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What if we were all wrong on: January 19, 2018, 07:51:59 PM
The crypto markets won't disappear. They're too efficient to just vanish and there are no fixed times or insane fees like on traditional brokerages and exchanges. A lot of people will get wiped out at some point, but that's a common symptom of quick money and not something that will kill the market.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from Pump and Dump groups! on: January 19, 2018, 07:49:12 PM
Pump groups always load up on a coin before getting their members to pump it. That way the admins make profits by dumping on the members. Just stay away.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH or Waves? on: January 19, 2018, 07:47:19 PM
Waves is much more efficient, but unlike Ethereum doesn't have smart contracts yet. But in general you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket, so just get some of both.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How get free Altcoin with Newbie account ? on: January 19, 2018, 07:44:55 PM
Depends on your skillset. If you're fluently bilingual you could look for translation bounties, otherwise social media campaigns (if you have mature social media accounts). If you can code or ghostwrite there might be some jobs for you as well. Other than that you could try to look out for airdrops, most of which aren't really worth a dime though.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Potential Portfolio Analysis on: December 23, 2017, 10:53:36 AM
Hello everyone!

New member here. I have been following crypto-currencies for years now (not super close, but aware of them). I had the opportunity to buy BTC at $100-400 and passed it up. I am not going to let them happen again! I have about $1k to invest in crypto. I want to diversify to an extent. I don't want 8+ currencies because it will be impossible to keep track of all the wallets and keys. I have done a little research and have come up with the following portfolio:
ETH 25%
XVG 25%
WAVES 25%
XLM 25%

I am open to changes and modifying the percentages. I currently own .5 ETH and 1.4 LTC that I will use to buy some of the other cryptos. Does that portfolio look pretty strong to you guys? Feel free to tear it apart! I would appreciate any input.

Thanks!

I think you need to wait for a while and check the price and the trends before you buy.

You mean until the correction settles? I was hoping to do so, but, at the same time, I don't want to miss the low prices (assuming they come).

It might very well be over already, so it's best to start easing in already and to average your buys/sales out. If you don't buy now and prices go back up you'll kick yourself, meanwhile if you start buying (spread out over time) and prices go down you'll still catch most of the discounts.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: December 23, 2017, 09:55:52 AM
there are too much noise happening on BTC, people are having second thought in investing crypto. BTC is the pioneer and will still reign despite of all the FUDS.

What do you mean by FUDs? have you seen the problem that hit bitcoin? high fees per transaction and you have to wait for days just to get your coin, this is an acceptable for the online community who uses crypto currency, if you have a better solution then its bitcoin cash.

did you use bitcoin or bitcoin cash to pay something?
or just for trading?

IMO, I think people nowadays only used "crypto" as a digital asset (digital comodity). they only trade and know nothing about it (just like me).
bitcoin just like a diamond now not a virtual/digital money. people have no idea why it still has a high value, but it's good to have it because people still belive in the price will still high in the future.

The minority uses it for payment purposes. The rest see it as a investment instrument like commodity or secure. Bitcoin cash is a fork coin what nobody trust, except the puppets of its creators. Shifting to bcash is just meaningless.

Week ago BTC was 10 to 1 ratio in value to BCH

Today it is 5 to 1 ration in value

Today anyone can buy into BCH a cheaper, faster and way less expensive way to do transactions.

So the value ratio shows BCH is almost now equal to BTC in value if it keeps going this way.

10 to 1 ratio a week ago and no coinbase access to the public

5 to 1 ratio a couple of days after coinbase TRUSTED IT ENOUGH to put it on GDAX

so everything you said is false

the biggest exchange in the USA trusts it

Since that exchange started trading in it, btc has collapsed from 10 to 1 value ratio to 5 to 1

BCH will soon be equal to BTC exactly as THE PROPHET SAID

https://www.soladoni.com/bitcoin-cash-bitcoin/
Again, the only reason BCash can be faster than Bitcoin is because nobody actually uses it. If the Bitcoin network was completely free like that of BCash it would be much quicker and have lower fees as well. BCash is a terrible attempt at "scaling" and it wasn't even created to solve scaling issues in the first place.

If crypto were regulated, those responsible at Coinbase and CNBC would literally be getting fined or just going straight to jail now by the way, like Roger Ver already did for his felony. Enjoy supporting a criminal and getting burnt in the process of his activities.

I don't know much about XLM or XVG. But I would increase my exposition to Waves compared to Ethereum for the following reasons.

Ethereum is already quite large and will require much more volume to multiply its value than Waves in comparison.

Waves with the LPoS system has a great way to participate in the revenue of its own decentralized exchange, which is expected to grow a lot once ERC20 trading goes live next year.

Waves is, since today (activation of NG), the fastest blockchain in the world with a capacity of up to around 1000 transactions per second. For reference, the crypto-kitties game that brought Ethereum to its knees only added around 7~8 transactions per second to Ethereum's blockchain.

Waves is about to implement smart contracts in Q1 of 2018 and will at that point by the best platform for token creation (and thus ICOs) as well as decentralized apps (due to the high potential throughput). The smart contracts will not be prone to security errors like those that led to the Parity failure that resulted in a loss of $300m worth of ERC20 tokens and Ethereum.

The decentralized exchange for Waves will be a major component once regulators start trying to crack down on crypto, as they won't have any means to regulate decentralized exchanges. The volume of such is thus expected to grow massively in the coming years.

Furthermore, Waves is still very tiny compared to Ethereum at only around $13. Once the smart contracts come out there is nothing to stop Waves from growing to $100 ~ $400 like Ethereum did when it made its big jump earlier this summer. Indeed, there's nothing stopping Waves from overtaking Ethereum entirely based on fundamentals. Technical trading bots may or may not delay this, but if Ethereum doesn't improve massively it might very well be overtaken by Waves in 2018~2019.

In either case, Waves can easily go up at least tenfold next year, which is something that Ethereum will have a much harder time of accomplishing (if at all).
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is buying WAVES? on: December 22, 2017, 11:38:20 PM
I'm buying Waves right now it's 90k satoshi and if NG protocol release then traders/investors will pump this coin, miners would love to see this fastest transaction in blockchain.
NG just released today. Waves is now the fastest blockchain in the world.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who is buying WAVES? on: December 22, 2017, 01:10:13 AM
I initially invested in coin waves, but after I see the price seems a bit difficult to increase again so I sold my coin waves and replaced it to NXT, because I believe the NXT coin is more profitable than the waves
Waves is just getting started though. It already is the most efficient blockchain right now (up to ~125 times faster than Ethereum) and is going to implement smart contracts in a few months.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: December 22, 2017, 01:09:16 AM
bitcoin cash is also crashing today. actually i don't think that bitcoin cash is that much better than btc. but for sure one of the forks will take over some day.. unless btc improves a lot soon
It's not just that BCash isn't "that much better than BTC", it's worse. They've slapped a bandaid on it and spread lies to extort some money out of crypto newbies.

Quote
It's not just that BCash isn't "that much better than BTC

there were many coins that is much better than bitcoin. some of them are etherium and litecoin. bitcoincash were also good alternative to bitcoin because it is more faster and stable in terms of price and usage.

but overall bitcoin is not dead and infact bitcoin is still growing more thesedays and bitcoincash on the other hand is also rising. bitcoincash is indeed much better than bitcoin in terms of sending or transfering money because it is much faster and does not cost to much on transaction fees. however bitcoin will still be the primary cryptco currencies that is now mainstream globally. the rest of them are just alternative ,  that is why they are called alt coins.

BCash is not faster than Bitcoin, at least not under the same circumstances. Bitcoin is being slowed down because the founders of BCash are spamming the Bitcoin blockchain, which causes fees and transaction times to go up. At the same time, nobody is using BCash, which means that it has low fees and low transaction times. BCash can not compare to Bitcoin, and will perish as soon as LN comes out.
