I don't wanna be "that" guy but I think that o_e_l_e_o was here because of high pay rate and he left because of low pay rate and we lost a very amazing member because of that! o_e_l_e_o was a real asset (I know he said that he had an illness but I don't believe it, sorry but I love him, he will always be in my memory).

This is a stupid thing to say and you should be embarrassed about it.

I didn't actually know why he posted for so long without signature.

LOL. Its because he has a genuine passion for bitcoin. I know that idea is absurd to you, but people like him actually exist. For the first 4+ years of my Bitcointalk career I wasn't in a campaign either.

He changed his mind when one user made a post and from then he started participating in signature campaign to support one project so and from then he seem to like it the more.

If memory serves, he first participated in some kind of charity signature campaign; if not charity then it was for something that didn't pay. After that, he was probably approached by a manager with a really good deal, and I don't blame him for taking them up on the offer.

I loved mining I loved the gear I loved how people in most of the world could use it. Heck I love that when I see ck solo pool that I know I begged him for a year to create it and he did.

Over time the mine started to struggle I got a really good offer and knowing that I was going to lose the mine down the road I took that offer.

Now I get coin from two forums it will never be what the mine used to do.
But I can simply say I did a lot for BTC when I was able to.
Now at 67 and recovering from surgery for the second time in two years posting is a lot easier than mining.

Selling gear off on ebay and not working as hard with the mine shut down.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Runes will be worthless. Don't waste your precious BTC on huge fees. on: May 20, 2024, 02:02:30 PM
I hope I'm wrong about this, but something tells me it won't be long before the next incarnation of snake-oil is being hyped up by sleazy little grifters.  Fewer people seem to fall for it each time now, which is a positive, but the parasitic leeches seem determined to sell crap to gullible idiots.  I doubt this is the end.  They'll just come up with a new disguise for the same, old, worthless shit.

Of course, there will be a new thing, I doubt we won't have one in a few months, just give them time to unload completely this crap to users so they don't end up with unsold merchandise and they will invent the new big thing, if jpg monkeys sold that well what wound't sell?

If there are no urban legends about how someone got rich minting Runes, there is a high probability that they will stop there.
An obvious example was Dogecoin, where many people got rich from nothing, and later we would have a flood of meme tokens for almost every breed of dog. If there isn't much talk of big money on the tokenization of the Bitcoin network, that trend could end up in history.

the scrypt algo of ltc and doge is very profitable for mining and has been this way for almost 7 years in a row.

even pull away the false boost doge to  had 70 cents and you can still see that doge does well for mining.

Also selling my silver.

Anyone want to buy some?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5497058.new#new

 PHILIPMA1957!!!

Why do you want to invest so heavily in fiat all of a sudden?
Quick fact, one Tomahawk cruise missile contains 500 oz of silver and they can't use paper silver.
Also, the US has committed to 100% clean energy by 2035 - solar panels can't use paper silver.
Last week, miners were complaining that mining silver at current prices was not feasible.  Something has to give.  JP Morgan will be stopped - likely by China.

Has it occurred to you that me selling 100oz in rounds and 100oz in bars for btc not fiat is what I am doing.

And that 200oz of silver is less than 25% of my silver holdings.

44  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 100 Oz of silver in bars or rounds your choice. on: May 20, 2024, 12:42:36 AM
Now if you look at the scales the rounds weigh 3125 grams

and the bars weigh 3135 grams

3125 grams are 100.4711 troy oz for the rounds

3135 grams are 100.7926 troy oz for the bars

0.3215 troy oz is about 10 bucks

So if you buy the rounds I will knock off 10usd on the price.

even though both bars and rounds are over 100 troy oz on my scales.

as google says 100 troy oz is 3110.35g

Note I realize 3100 usd or 6200 usd is a lot to trust.

I would be willing to do a few sends as long as you commit to a 100 or a 200 oz buy.
45  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 100 Oz of silver in bars or rounds your choice. on: May 20, 2024, 12:29:49 AM
To be clear

100 1oz bars

and or

100 1oz rounds

https://silverprice.org/. reads 31.34 an oz

I am rounding down to 31 an oz

100 oz would be 3100 usd

200 oz would be 6200 usd.

I will round down to the oz price at silverprice.org

If we drop under 30 an oz I am not offering these

If price goes up up up and away I charge more.

so 32.50 rounds down to 32 x 100 = 3200 usd

No loose sales as I have 100 rounds and 100 bars. I have been waiting to sell.

here are the bars all 100 on a scale.

here are the rounds.

46  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 100 Oz of silver in bars or rounds your choice. on: May 19, 2024, 10:58:09 PM

here are 100 1oz bars

I will show the rounds later

also some scale weight photos

48  Economy / Collectibles / 100 Oz of silver in bars or rounds your choice. on: May 19, 2024, 09:01:53 PM
anyone want to buy 100 oz of silver from me?

I have 100  1 oz bars
I have 100  1 oz rounds

I will sell to usa only

I will take btc, ltc or doge.

I will sell at under spot.

Spot was 31.48

I will round down spot to the lower number.

so 31.48 is 31.00 x 100 = 3100

I am well known so send coins me upfront. I will self escrow.
I will send US mail Insure it and ask for a signature.

If silver goes over 32 I round down to 32
If silver goes over 33 I round down to 33

so on and so forth.

Lastly if silver drops to under 30 I don’t sell.

Any buyers?

shoot me a pm.

 Photos in a bit.

I do not have access to camera until tonight.
49  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: May 19, 2024, 06:27:13 PM
If theymos were to ban signature campaigns, the forum would lose almost all members and it would drift in to obscurity (except for the library and reference analogy).
That is absolutely right. Not only ban of signature campaigns negatively affect this forum but on the other hand, if signature campaigns lower pay rate as low as 40-50 USD per week, then this forum will experience significant lose of high quality posters and will be left with bunch of spammers. By the way, I wonder why other forums didn't copy this strategy of Bitcointalk, i.e. to allow signature campaigns.

I believe these cosmetics are why the signature campaigns work so well.
I think I agree with you but on the other hand, these cosmetics are why this forum struggles to attract youth. At least theymos has to make this forum responsive, it's not that hard.

Youtube has better cosmetics but it does not allow thousands of people to earn $50-150 a week without much effort.

I am not quite sure of how to make signature campaigns work better than they do here at this time.

Yes I am aware of the spam , but I would post a lot less here and more on other forums if signatures ended here. Most of my posting here was not done with a signature. I would think 25000 maybe 30,000 posts were done with no campaign.  But the mine ended and I can use the income from posting so I post.

At the moment gpu mining is pretty much crushed.

Does not matter what you are mining.
53  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: May 19, 2024, 02:41:22 PM
This forum is in no way more special than say any other forum with the exception of two things:

- the historical associations to Bitcoin and crypto in general
- being unique in the amount of money it generates

For example, in any of the names it adopted before the current it was where Satoshi posted therefore it has been called a library and a reference for the work of Satoshi.

If theymos were to ban signature campaigns, the forum would lose almost all members and it would drift in to obscurity (except for the library and reference analogy).

As for cosmetics, the forum was due an upgrade many years ago and it is clearly lagging behind.[/[color]

Are you guys seriously getting your heads around a decentralised forum? Forums are things of the past and those that survive are because they were launched and were successful in the past. I think the only thing that hasn't completely killed them is that a lot of people forum during quiet times at work.
Also the reason BTT survived?
I think BTT is just special and maybe some things like signature campaign has been a key to keeping here going.
The reason forums got outdated could be because of lack of the modern day UI/UX amongst other things.

Spot on bold type black

but I think the worse we can do is fuck with cosmetics. red bold type

I believe these cosmetics are why the signature campaigns work so well.
54  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: May 19, 2024, 02:32:07 PM
Top 30.

Let's get back into the top 20. Small steps.

I would take a top 25 as it would move the best number from 2021 lower and closer to exit.
55  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you feel that the global economy is declining? on: May 19, 2024, 02:55:20 AM
when the world had 1 billion  every persons share of the world was as follows

2 ⅔ acres of fresh water 💧
32 acres of land
96 acres of ocean 🌊

now 120 years later we are 8 billion

so each persons share of the earth if it was divided is ⅛ that of 1900

so
⅓ of an acre of fresh water 💧
4 acres of land
12 acres of ocean 🌊

So the answer to the op of course the people of the world 🌍 are poorer than a while back resources do not grow.
same size planet and
1900 1 billion of us
 2024 8 billion of us.

I am happy to be 67 and all my kids are dead. With luck I will be gone before this world crashes out.

I figure 2057 should be about right for a mass collapse. I will be dead or 100 years old.

we filled in slot 30

one less number for 2021

one more for 2024

keep grinding away.

Feels like the bullishness is taking over in the markets.  I think inflation has worked it's way through the system and is hitting earnings now, inflating the value of everyone's portfolio and setting up the next inflation wave that is likely to cause some negative effects in the overall economy.  For now though, the rich are getting richer at an incredible pace and Bitcoin is benefitting from it greatly.  It's only a matter of time before the new all time high articles start hitting news stands and regular people start realizing what's happening and that their narrative on Bitcoin is completely wrong.

Well you are optimistic today.

I am still debating what to do next.

Selling off the mine is sad but must be done.

After I sell more gear I will decide what is next.

So far I have sold over 17k in gear lots more to sell
60  Other / Meta / Re: Should mods make a post to justify why they locked a thread? on: May 18, 2024, 04:17:20 PM
I don't remember any of my topics ever being locked by a Mod, but I do think you have a point: if a spam megathread is locked because it's a spam megathread, it might be good for users to see. Then again, most of them were deleted, and there's no notification for anyone other than the OP.

Yeah I would think a mod could lock and pick from a list of why the lock

1. super spam
2. threats of violence
3. other

obvious the list could be longer but the effort to pick one of 3 or 4 or 5 on the list is pretty much zero.  the effort to lock is much more as the mod has to read a few or more than a few posts to decide if thread should be lock.  so adding a reason from a predetermined list is not much to ask for.
