1042  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Drop to Zero? on: January 13, 2024, 04:25:27 PM
Former deputy governor, BOE believes Bitcoin can drop to zero. I wonder what his opinion is at the moment.

"Their price can vary quite considerably and they could theoretically or practically drop to zero." Jon Cunliffe saiid.

And what's the different between theoritical and practical drop to zero for BTC?

Can the price theoritically drop to zero but practically trade above $40k. Kinda confusing.

1) IT can also theoretically raise to $1,000,000 or higher.

2) "If some mad genius develops mathematics yet to exist the 256 bit code could be solved in under a second." In fact it would look like magic to those with out the access to that new math.

But going into that world is much like saying someone could figure out eternal life  or levitate or resurrection.

BTW if someone figures a new math that allows cracking codes easy peasy they would be in great danger and may simply decide to let no one know what they can do.

They may just go to an early block address like this one and take the coins.

they do miscredit.

One time I pulled 1500 usd cash out and they sent it to me 2 times vs once.

They let me know they errored and pulled the second 1500 out in under 24 hours.

keep showing them the send address  which sent to    123yourcoinbaseadderess

Send them screen shots.

also screen shot your deposit address now as it should match the one that got the funds.

my coinbase deposit address has not change in years mine is

3M@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@kE7

I have had it for years.

So just check your coin base address it should be the same that it always was.

okay I am on the page on f2pool

someone give me a stuck tx and we can test it out.

Random TX found on the mempool, let's try and see whether it works.

OP, I don't think many miners are still active here like they used to be a decade ago in the forum so this idea will not work at all.

let me check it out.

I will look for a different one.

Apparently it cost too much to pay a human to check mission critical systems with a analog device now.

I am lucky 67 all kids are dead.

Just me and the wife.  We had a good amount of fun for years and still have fun now.

JIM CRAMER says:  Major top in Bitcoin... BTC MAJOR! 🥴

But I sincerely believe he gives spot-on reverse signals  Grin

Unfortunately too many speculators rely on these "reverse signals", because they are right 95-99% of the time. But what about the 1-5% when they actually get it right? No-one mentions it, because if you've been calling a top in Bitcoin throughout 2023, you're eventually going to make a right call is the reality. It reminds me of Il Capo; if you call a top enough times, eventually you'll get it right! No credit necessary...

As for the chart, this is so far going as anticipated, ie buy the rumour sell the news. The Weekly candle, which is the most relevant right now, as is turning into a massive doji reversal, the likes we haven't seen since October 2021, ie with a 10% wick to the upside, nothing else comes close. There were a few in July and August last year, as well as February 2022, prior to price correcting, but nothing as substantial.

In fact, if price ends the week below $44K, with a -10% wick, it'd be the longest bearish wick since June 2019 that was -20%. Obviously this doesn't mean price will definitely move to the downside, only that out of the handful of bearish doji candles in recent years, all of them led to a correction of some sort; whether that was minor or severe. That said, the current structure still remains bullish above $43K.

I have some ladder down buys at

40110 or close to that
39100
38080

down to around
32101

It would have been great if there was any miner or member who is part of the F2pool and has a referral code. This way accelerating transactions would be easy using this tool (https://www.f2pool.com/pushtx) and I don't think he would require a very high hash power

Aside from viaBTC's free 20 transactions per hour, that is the only other legitimate tool one could use minus having to pay a fee. The problem is getting the referral code.

I belong to f2pool with a few KDA miners.

I will look into this to see how it works.

@ samreomo. we may get some value from this thread.

some proposals for a new poll:

Which BTC price will be reached first, 50k or 40k?  50k

What is the Bitcoin price at halving date? 61k

What is the highest Bitcoin price until halving date? 62k

Will we have new ATH before halving? No

my picks

-1 to -10 %. early and then we move up and on to + 1- 3% as a finish,

I really find this strange...it can't be natural behavior.
There must be concrete reasons for this to happen.

How many cycles have we seen this type of event? 4 or 5 cycles? More?

so far 27 cycles from jan 2023 to now.

I would think at least nine cycles in the last 27 match the pattern.

look at the concept I describe . if you make it work and it pays more and it will as rewards decrease you simply do not need to do it every jump.

the patterns happened a lot in2023 and the first month of  2024.

as rewards drop with 2024 ½ ing it is easier to do.

and getting closer to 0 blocks behind. from 50 behind now to 20 behind

I think whatever philipma1957 said is 100% true and that's why creating of such thread would be of no help to anyone. The miners who are actually part of this forum and are active here don't have that much hash power and that's why it's not going to be possible for them to accelerate the transactions.

Only the mining pools can do that but I don't think that any of the mining pools may be agree to create such a thread and accelerate the transactions for the members of this forum. The only good option that's for everyone is always going to be Via BTC transaction accelerator.

this thread is very helpful it show us what we are up against.

btw I understand the shortterm issues here.

I have mentioned in many threads

hodl real btc safe in an offline wallets.

find a kyc exchange put some cash in it.

I use nicehash with mining from gpus
I use kraken with a kyc cash deposit of $500 usd. and I purchased btc with it low fees.

so I now can use 2 ln wallets.  nicehash and kraken with very little cost.

and I keep most coin in a wallet.

altough my buddy senator warren wants to call me a criminal very soon for having a wallet.
1055  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] Bitcointalk official acceleration thread. on: January 11, 2024, 07:52:03 PM
It would be wonderful if a miner would help. But you need an insane amount of hash to do it.

The net work does 144 blocks on an average day the network has close to 500eh hash.

So to make a block a day a pool needs 3.5 eh of hash.

175 s21 = 175 x 200th or  350 ph

1750 s21 = 1750 x 200th or 3.5eh

No miner on this site has 1750 s21 units

they would consume about 1750 x 4 = 6800 kwatts or 6.8 mega watts

so if you found a nice guy that has a 7 mega watt pool he could do 1000kb for 20 sats

which is 0.00020000 btc the rest at full price It would cost him if he gave ten spots via dm

I am tiny compare to a 7 megawatt guy.

I am under 250kwatts so I am 1/30 the bare minimum and my partners would all say no to it.
1056  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 11, 2024, 05:33:24 PM
Long time no post. Came to see if anyone else was selling this news event, guess I'm not the only one. Felt comfortable with a decent sell at $48K. Now will wait for pull-back. Still think we could see $30K within next few months as below $40K there isn't a lot to keep us at higher levels. No doubt ETF will help in the long-run, but that will take a few months imo, rather than a few weeks.

Already the 4hr candle is looking bearish and sellers clearly taking advantage of the "sell the launch" opportunity. Let's be honest 2023 was a good year with +150%, now all that's needed is for price to cool off and balance out. It's ironic as $48.5K was the 0.618 retracement level I had talked about hitting for a long-time, even if it took until 2024 to get there as opposed to 2023 as initially anticipated.

You can consider my return and post as a local top signal Cheesy

Could be, but not by as much as you are suggesting, imho.

Well no, not really. It's been well documented in the media and such that this could be an "implosion of new money into Bitcoin" or a "buy the rumour sell the news" type event. So far, I'd say it's the latter, but only time will tell. To me it's more the fact Bitcoin has reached my minimum target for a retracement from ATH to bear market low. It's just a "concidence" it occurred on the day of the ETF launch. Ie, not a coincidence at all.

Even with no ETF launch I'd be taking profits at current levels, because it feels eerily similar to summer 2019 parabolic run, at very similar levels as it were. Even if not I'm anticipating any sort of black swan event, a 35% to 50% correction feel due, much like in 2020 even before the covid crash, ie from $14K to $7K. In this case a think a milder (by %) pull-back to around $30K is in order.

Not gonna lie though, the trend is still bullish, even with current rejection on lower time-frames. It's more the red flags on the chart that's causing me to lose faith in continued upside right now. To me it's the same as $12.8K in 2019, so sure price could go a bit higher in the short-term, but notably anything above $12K back then was a solid selling opportunity. At least until price returned to $7K.

this is not summer of 2019. this is 2016 pre 1/2ing

miners smoked it bigly as fees were high and we rallied to 75% of the 2013 peak

so go back to pre 2016 1/2ing say 3 months you get

 421 on apr  11
458 on may 9
671 on jun 13
648 on July  11 which right near the 1/2ing

we slumped after that date  in august to 570

but as jjg says honey badger does not care.

both of us could be wrong
1057  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 11, 2024, 04:58:30 PM
Wouldn’t take the risk myself neither….

Few FIAT bucks profit not to be sure what it’s gonna do….

This time really can be different.
*just not selling any coins on the cheap.

Dude you are in  a different league then others or at least I have that impression.

If I had 300 coins in spring of 2021 I would have sold 25 at say 60k x 25 = 1.5 million after tax I would have

1,000,000 and that would cover me from 2021 to at least 2026.  WHICH means I could easy peasy hodl right

now.

I did not or ever had 300 coins (my own stupidity as it was easy for me to do at 1 time)

So I have 2 ladder ups.

45k to 70k a smaller step ladder these sales cover me for all of 2024

101k and up a large real ladder these sales give me funds for 3 years

and I still hodl.

But I am not at your scale dude not at all.
1058  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S21: Bitmain’s Game Changer in the Bitcoin Mining World. on: January 11, 2024, 04:27:08 PM
Have you seen the new power connector for new Bitmain S21 ASICs?
I hope the cable comes with the ASIC.

Why is Bitmain inventing new connectors? New ASICs have the same power as the old s19 series. If you lose such a cable, you won’t be able to quickly buy it in a store.

no i think they are a 3500 watt miner.

which is not the same as the s19 series.

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020231212155051379R2N3JfQc065A

below is the highest power s19 3247 watts

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020230626114337330962EtM9r0640

so 253 watts more.

after running a lot of antminers I know some are better and some are worse.

So a rated 3500 watt unit will sometimes do 3650 watts.

Absolutely, we got and Sample unit few days ago and couldn't get nowhere near 3500w Cheesy @200ths.
Power usage 3800-3900w.
Best Efficiency got on low power mode 160 th/s @ 2600w what is 16.4 j/ths which very efficient

yeah and 3800-3900 is within 10% of 3500 so they are covered.  but my question is I see the end on the miner side.  what is the cable on the wall/pdu side I would guess it need to be 10ga or a very short 12ga if I am pulling 3900 watts on a 208 volt  that is 18.75 amps which is a lot for a 12 gauge c19/c20 cable.

could you photo the power cable on the power connection side?

not to worry. I sold a few pieces of corn on the small ladder up.

This is to prep for the mining ⛏️ costs for the next few months.

I know I shouldn't but I fomo-ed in a tiny bit of corn.

My 48.2k ladder hit

waiting for my 50310 to hit

as soon as the etf got approved i took out some of my lowest sell bids. no sense giving corn away now.

my new lowest sell point is up in the $60ks and that is very subject to change.. upward lol

my step ladder goes to 70k

then my real ladder starts at 99534
