1021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin changed people (enemy to supporter). Lary Fink (BlackRock CEO) 2017 2024 on: January 16, 2024, 01:55:58 AM
be careful of the fools game of sudden admiration...

ive used the analogy before.. (comparing bitcoin economy to wheat farm economy)
monsantoGMO  said natural wheat is ripe for disease..
monsanto got involved in wheat commodities

their creation of GMO wheat is not about suddenly adoring natural family farmed wheat. they just want to control the wheat commodity and have lobbied the EPA to make organic wheat be pressured into higher standards. where old fashioned farmed natural wheat is obliterated by industrial farming of GMO crops that then sue if GMO gets mixed with natural by family farms

now back to reality
his support of a bitcoin ETF is not the same as supporting real bitcoin transactions on the bitcoin network

i guarantee  you guys like dimon and fink will both claim their locked custody coins are the clean harvest which people can invest in. whilst then claiming circulating coins on the network are the plague ridden crop no one should touch

they dont think of themselves as bitcoin users. they want to control the upper echelons of international markets. and see the natural form be treated as the enemy/competition taking customers away from their investments.

Nice post.  Even if it is not exactly what they are doing they certainly are looking to fuck people over as they are all believers of the haves and the have nots.

Assume you're being sarcastic, but I'll bite.

LOL, but for who know the OP, this is the very voice of mockery?  Grin

I have had dialog with the op. He is simply bitter about poor choices.

do deffinatly a s17pro

https://ibb.co/HrkQphf

so went to bitmain and downloaded Antminer-S17Pro-user-OM-202004271325-sig_5837.tar.gz - does not work
tried Antminer-S17Pro-user-MD-201905241708-sig.tar.gz, same deal, tried another tf card just in case, no dice.

the t17 I got on there still gets stuck on login, root/root does not work, no error, just refreshes the page, even inputting jibberish does nothing.

is this system bricked? can I just buy a new board with firmware all ready installed? or a service I can ship mine to?

buy a controller give me a minute for links.

https://vmssecuritycloud.com/product/antminer-s17-control-board-replacement/

the one above ⬆️ should be good I have done years of business with the guy above.

let him know I linked you.

noted thanks, gonna play around for a day or two first just to make sure I learnt what I did so I wont do it again haha

controllers are tricky and easy to brick.

if you have more then 5 t17s and s17s combined it is good to have 1 spare controller and a few spare fans.

1027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Steam recommends RTX 3060 on: January 15, 2024, 01:24:48 AM
12gb is future proof though. Also the 3060 is 12gb, not 8. I never said the steam data isn't real, I just said that 3060 is the most popular VFM option due to having 12 gb of VRAM. 40XX series is getting a bad rap in reviews due to having an inflated price and offering little more compared to 30XX. Lots of people are downright skipping 4060s for 3060s.

ok i didnt even know there was a 8gb 3060. nvidia really are scumbags

my dad would be  102
my mom would be  95

shit 67 in a little bit.

time marches on.

As we are about same age, your post got me thinking...
Grandma (on Mom's side passed at 101) would be 123.
Grandpa, her hubby, passed in 1970 around age 70-something. Grandma was a widow for 31 years! Huh! Maybe that's why she lived so long, lol.
I kid.  Grandpa was a cool dude who smoked one of those weird Briar pipes that stank up the joint.
And now when I look in mirror I'm like "damn! I look just like how I remember Grandpa looked back in 1970"

my granddad had same pipe!

I see a bit of both grand dads.

on my dads side i have his retreating hairline. he died before I was born 1955

on my moms side the sides of my jaw look like that grand dad. he died in 1983
1029  Economy / Speculation / Re: So I guess we sell at $48626 ? on: January 14, 2024, 11:26:29 PM
Because the 68.2 Fibonacci level is always right. Even though in 2021 we broke higher to $69K that area originally had a significant pullback. Also the $48000 area is where that pivot is which was the high on March 2022. Not investment advice but its either a coincidence or this fib level is crazy accurate.

it did 48.99k with a drop off.

so lets show you how people think about money
(example people are 20yo in 2020)

20yo female: "i want to have a $10k pair of high heels before im 24yo"
20yo male: "i want to have a $10k rolex before im 24yo"

20yo female: "i found a chinese knock-off heals for $2k, thats like 20% price, so i have $8k FREE money"
20yo male: "i invested $10k in crypto 2020"

21yo female: "i have $8k FREE i can get matching dress and purse and get my hair done and have a spa week(spends $5k) for FREE"
21yo male: "still hoarding crypto"

23yo female: "i have $3k FREE, oops shoes broke. oh inflation puts replacements at $3k, oh well still FREE"
23yo male: "still hoarding crypto"

24yo female: "i have $0k but i have my cheap out of fashion shoes and a smelly used dress i shouldnt wear again"
24yo male: "still hoarding crypto, i could buy 4 rolexes and still have money left"

please the truth is she looked hot and found a sugar daddy to feed her sweets  🍭

its misogynistic but maybe I was too.

1035  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Drop to Zero? on: January 14, 2024, 05:19:24 PM
Can gold's value drop to zero? Yes, they can if everybody in the world has enough gold and nobody needs to buy gold to get it. This is possible with gold because it has an unlimited supply we just don't have the resources to mine all of it. With bitcoin it is not possible as it has limited supply so there will always be a supply and demand factor in the market. Its price can drop drastically, but its value dropping to zero isn't so reasonable to think of. There is a way to drop bitcoin's value to zero and that is by making it inaccessible to the world. Is this possible?

Far harder for that to happen.

but for BTC to zero out it has to be effortlessly pulled from any wallet and we would have bigger issues.

For gold to become worthless humans would need to have zero access to electrical power.

Gold is the best material for power. So if it dropped in price to be under copper it would be use instead of copper for power.

If it drops in price under aluminum it would be used instead of aluminum .

BTW aluminum was more valuable than gold in the 1800's as it was harder to produced than gold.

To op BTC will have value until cryptography becomes as easy as 1+1=2
1036  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: s17 pro t17 logon issues on: January 14, 2024, 05:09:32 PM
hiya, got one of my miners having issues not sure what to do next.

I have a pool of both s17 pro's and t17's and I dont know which one it is, my end goal is I want braiins os on it, but as far as I know it has to have stock bitmain firmware on it? I downloaded a firmware for all s and t versions and it showed up as T17 on the main backend screen, so I downloaded the correct firmware direct from bitmain and I cant log on to backend, I get to the user and pass, but root/root just refreshes the page with no error message, I googled in the product number from the side of the machiene (stickers badly worn some missing) and it said it was a s17 pro, so I did try that firmware, same results, so I loaded back up this dodgy firmware again and tried to install braiins over that as root/root worked, and I just get "this miner is not supported" fans at 100% through all the flashed and firmware changes.

how do I get this miner stock again? any ideas, short of buying another mainboard ready flashed?

did all units work?

how many units are there.

if you have under ten pieces this is easy enough.

if you have 50 or 60 pieces it will be harder to track it all down.

You know I am happy to have read the last page 📑 of this thread.

I had zero understanding of why some people were calling me sir.

Now I have a better understanding of its use.

I was an enlisted member in the USN

I called officers sir.

I was never called sir.

So when I was called sir on bitcointalk I felt a bit uncomfortable with people using it.

As an enlisted sailor or soldier would not want to be called sir.

NVIDIA is reportedly set to unveil its new RTX 40 SUPER series in January 2024, with the 4070 SUPER taking the lead as the first card to hit the market. Sources suggest that NVIDIA will showcase the new series at CES 2024 during its Special Address livestream. While board partners are expected to reveal their designs shortly thereafter, the 4070 SUPER, in particular, is projected to be available starting January 17.

Hello everyone, maybe this question is off-topic, but please tell me why social media constantly compares the 1080 Ti card with other video cards and says that 1080Ti is one of the best cards in terms of price-performance ratio.  I want to build a PC and I wonder if it is really that good. It is old, isn't it?

it is old but it is pretty good used on ebay.

A lot depends on your budget.

I have a few used ones if you want to get one.

$200 for a 1080ti vs  $225 for a 3060
1039  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S21: Bitmain’s Game Changer in the Bitcoin Mining World. on: January 14, 2024, 02:04:30 PM
I'll add danieleither's picture to the discussion

Specifications   200T 3500W 17.5J/T
https://shop.bitmain.com/product/detail?pid=00020231212155051379R2N3JfQc065A
3500/220  that's almost 16 amps
3900/220 that's almost 18 amps

And why make a new power connector if the C20 connector handles 20 amps perfectly?
New ASICs are no longer suitable for standard household outlets Smiley

It looks like you will need to down clock the gear.

maybe run 160th not 200th

or pick up this

 https://www.ebay.com/itm/126119287029?

now this says step down but switch input to out put an it will boost you 32 volts.

this would solve the problem for a 1 miner garage units.

my home gets 238 to 243

add 32 I am at

270 to 275

the miner  psu claims to handle 277.. I have used these with my whatsminers and they work
1040  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2024 Diff thread happy New Years. on: January 14, 2024, 01:43:25 PM
I'm not a miner - unfortunately, so I ask: What logical explanation is there for this?

How is it that during 7 days the hash drops significantly, after these 7 days the hash returns to the values it was before? What happened during those 7 days?

Well if I am correct it will continue and become more noticeable after the ½ ing.

My theory is to down clock to crowd the mempool first 2-6 days of a 14 day jump.

Then overclock the last 8 days to reap high paying blocks.

This also keeps hashrate in check allowing for a 1 or 2 % jump vs a 5% jump.

When my partner was in China he watched Canaan assembly factories.

I can tell you China can make 2x to 3x the hash we see at low costs.

Ie https://shop.canaan.io/products/avalon-miner-a1246-85t-3420w?VariantsId=10019

only 680 about 8 bucks a th.

I suspect that there is more than 1000eh of so called modern hashing gear with another 300eh of older gear.

If you are big enough and have paid the gear off having 1 megawatt of power and 2.1megawatts of different gear all paid off is not that dumb as it sounds.

btc hot mine all your btc gear. >>>>>>>>>> say 700kwatts
ltc/doge hot mine all your LTC/doge gear.> another 700kwatts
gpus hot mine all your gpus. >>>>>>>> another 700 kwatts

you only have 1000kwatts it is simple to  do 700 of you best and only 150 and 150 of the other 2.

s19s have a 5-6 year life
L7s have a 5-6 year Life
gpus have a 5-6 year life

lots of easy movement in a big place can be done.

plenty of software allows shutting gear on  and off.

kano did not answer

my questions for this jump

we were at 527 vs 573. whats the math on that

and we have done  705 vs 658 whats the math on that

and we did that back to back whats the math on that.

I know that it has to be fairly long odds.

by the way they can pick any part of the 14 days to over and under clock
