Oh god this is hilarious. This is way better than the Nigerian prince scam. The United Nations saving the world, one random stranger at a time.

The Wire was really good. Highly recommend that one. I also dig on The Shield even though it's kind of cheesy, comic book like. but addictive and pretty entertaining. will try to think of some others...
Seconded for The Wire. Still the best television show there is. Game of Thrones may be more entertaining, but the Wire is just so meticulously crafted - its almost exactly like real life. Very complex and without taking sides - there's no "good guys" or "bad guys", just people surviving in their own way with their own agenda.

Ok guys, I know we've been in the 400s for a long time but let's not lose our heads here. Stay in the Earth's atmosphere for now.

None of the nuclear powers can be invaded. Intervening in Ukraine is one thing and invading Russia is another. If the UK and US send their troops to Ukraine, it will not necessarily start the WW3. On the other hand, if they send their troops to invade Russia, it will definitely signal the start of WW3 and MAD. Russia will definitely use some of its 10,000 nuclear war heads and half the world will turn to radio-active waste land.
I agree, nobody is stupid enough to start world war 3. The proof is in front of our eyes- the Korean War, the Vietnam war, the Soviet Afghan war, and now Ukraine... the West and the East will only fight each other through proxy wars meant to empower each side and/or take advantage of a war-wrecked country. The reason the West demonizes Russia (as it has for well over a 100 years, as you suggested) is because governments love to create enemies to keep people in fear and away from the real issues. You have Russia doing the exact same thing. Hell, this is like the #1 rule of international relations - every country points the finger at someone else to make themselves out to be the heroes and keep their populations ignorant of the real problems in THEIR OWN country. The conflict in Ukraine is just another proxy war, as the many we have seen in the Cold War. Nuclear weapons have made large-scale,conventional warfare entirely obsolete, and I hope it will stay that way. Leaders of countries may not always be the brightest and most peaceful individuals, but everyone understands that REAL nuclear war will destroy not just the enemy but also you. MAD keeps the world from another great war, at least for now.

I think it is a bit early to say that what Snowden has done was completely pointless/ or even helping the NSA. For one thing, a lot of supposedly juicy documents have not been released yet, as hinted at by Greenwald. Plus the leaks have made the ENTIRE WORLD aware of how their governments are spying on them. But it is really disheartening to see how the American people have reacted to the leaks...I feel bad for Snowden, the guy gave up a perfect life, hoping people would join him and are instead completely apathetic.

I can't wait until the Millennial generation actually gets their own political party. This outdated liberal/conservative system does not serve us and doesn't represent our views very effectively - it is a relic of the past mired in corruption and inefficiency. This is evident by how most of the voters nowadays are older generations. Hopefully groups like the Pirate party in Europe start spreading, these guys are much more inline with our generation's culture and beliefs. That is not to say that there aren't older people who also disagree with the current political systems - but it is mostly the younger people.

Be careful reading the Daily Mail... For people not from the UK: It's basically a joke paper that sensationalizes EVERYTHING and fuels fear and hate among the more suggestible population. Sadly it has the highest circulation of any UK paper...
I wouldn't worry too much about this story - first of all the drugs are not "sex-change" drugs, they are used to inhibit hormones to delay the onset of puberty. They have been used in other applications with no issues. Also the NHS isn't going to start giving these out like candy - as with all "gender dysphoria" issues, I think doctors will be very careful when diagnosing/prescribing.
Don't worry people, the governments isn't trying to turn us into a nation of gays and trannies!!
I agree, dailymail loves to create sensationalized titles to get views. And to take attention away from how the UK government is becoming more authoritarian every day...

Remove money. Everything is done with a barter system or volunteering for the better of the community. Focus on technological innovation to do two things: automate all mundane jobs to free humanity to be creative, and to advance our space-faring capabilities. Minimal government to ensure people don't go murdering each other etc, otherwise stay out of the way.

i kinda prefer elizabeth warren. at least we'd start to see someone actually represent the people and hunt down wallstreet/bankers for wrecking our economy. but if she were the nominee, that would mean she'd have to "make deals" in order to fundraise, which means she'd just become a corporate billionaire.
Only problem is every candidate changes once they run for president, and then change again when they actually become president. Remember Obama's rhetoric? He sounded like the greatest guy ever who will fix all the problems. Then once he got into office, it's all the same bullshit as the presidents before him. Id rather have Warren where she is right now. She will get more done this way.

I've been caught up between Guild Wars 2 and ESO (moreso GW2 though, as ESO has no real end-game). I also spend some time in RIFT and TERA from time to time, although it's been pretty rare as of late.
Played all of those, but only for a week or a month max. All of these MMOs claimed to be new and exciting but in my experience were just WoW clones. There hasn't been a truly innovative MMO since wow came out in 2004.

Hillary is too ugly to be a president. I don't want to see her face on the broadcast news and papers too
I'll say that people don't always vote based on looks, and actually , thank god they don't. Image the whole world run by pornstars . Lol, I am reminded of a quote went something like "attractive people go to Hollywood, ugly people go into politics." And I absolutely agree, if people only voted based on looks that would be horrible. Unfortunately that IS how a lot of stupid people vote - "he looks handsome, he must be trustworthy and good for the country!"

Vote green party. Fuck the two party system, not just in the US, but in Australia and the UK as well...It's the illusion of choice when you're actually picking between two turds that will bow to their corporate overlords.

Not in the least surprising. I love how easily the media controls what and how people think. I bet if you ask the average person in the US about what country likes to start wars, is a danger to world peace, etc, they will answer something like Russia, Syria, Iran and other countries in the middle east. AKA the countries that the US government WANTS YOU to fear and hate, so they can spend your taxpayer money to fuel the corporate war machine.

Realistically:
1) Do freelance writing/computer work on websites like elance.com. Probably takes a while to get your first task here, and I believe you have to fill out a lot of info to have a decent chance of getting chosen to do something. 2)Start your own blog/website and monetize it. Takes a long time to do and you have to choose a good niche to build your work around, otherwise nobody will visit and your site won't grow. 3) Write on already established websites like Hubpages, Squidoo, etc. There's a lot of these. Easier to do/start making money than option 1 or 2, but you won't make nearly as much money, unless you've been doing it for years. 4) Learn how to do web development/programming/etc. This is a very big field that's high in demand. This kind of ties into #1 as well.
Bottomline though, making money online is NOT EASY. It takes time, it takes research, and it takes quality. The days of easy internet money are well over. This isn't 2002 where you could make a crappy, ugly website and put ads on it and probably make 1k a month.

Dark Souls 2 and UFC
Thumbs up for DS2. I already have 60 hours on it with one playthrough. Probably going to try another class (mage or cleric) and also play my main on higher difficulty. Well worth the money to buy it.

Anybody still playing hearhstone?
I played it for a couple a months back when it was in closed beta. It was fun but god old really fast - everyone using the same cards, and a lot of unfun shit that Blizzard refused to fix. Overall I think it's too simple to be a truly good card game, you figure it out and there isn't much finesse or skill to it anymore.
