people calm down with your refunds ... there wont be any ... all we can do is wait ...

As long as enough sheeple keep saying "we have to wait", well that's all there is to it. Let me repeat

Avalon is in serious breach of contract and we need to take a god damn stand

There could be some good news on the horizon.

Edit: marto74 is an owner of a group buy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212031.0;topicseen

Those are the sample chips, 30 per order. Meaning that the lead on that order is still 4 weeks if Avalon keeps following the timetable they had set out for the chips delivery. Samples after 5 weeks, actual order 4~5 weeks after that.

Fair enough, but the point is that there is movement.

One more:

Please note that the chips may ship without warning as I've received confirmation from another operator that the sample chips were shipped without any changes in my order page. Damn Avalon!

Very alarming news John.. Nothing positive of samples getting shipped on past due orders. another 10 weeks and difficulty is double.
423  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: August 13, 2013, 08:44:56 AM
Is the revised board hashing yet?
BKK, I know this is the last thought any of us want to even think about right now, but what would it take to adapt a new gen2 chip to the exisitng board? Has that been given any thought? please forgive me for even asking in these trying times...sometimes in life when we are given lemons, we should try to make lemonade Smiley assuming some resolution were to come our way, short of getting refunds from avalon, a chip credit/deal if in fact the ordered chips never happen of course. Thx, your the best!
I didn't do any board work this weekend. It was a long weekend here (Queens birthday), so was noisy with celebrations. I did prepare orders to ship and have about a dozen to go out today when I get in to the post office. It was closed yesterday.

I don't have enough info on Gen 2 chips. Supposedly they'll be somewhat compatible but I don't know what that means yet and which pins might change if any. My guess is that they could possibly be swapped in with only software changes, but who knows.

I'm a bit bummed about how things have gone, and not as focussed on getting all my boards made as I should be. I either need a holiday or some good news on chip shipments. I'm quite tired but will get back to it soon.
I think i can help .

Yesterday I got 30 chips from nowhere...
Sent from hong kong. No update on Avalon order page. Smiley
Any update on test of fully populated K16.?
We are busy here with our design and did not have the chance to populate and test the last final K16 version
Hm, thats quite incredible news ? I mean, when was your first order?

I had cancellation of 24 but didn't update yet... Will do that later in a day... So it isn't such a last chance... But yes if all paid tomorrow will be last day...

are they communicating about their delays? i mean.. which chip supplier will deliver..
425  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 【Avalon OEM Factory】made by ccbmc!50PCS OEM 110G 4# avalon mining Has shipped! on: August 13, 2013, 12:12:23 AM
That was 15 mill difficulty ago and with no actual competitors testing actively created chips.

Also I got my Avalon 3 module for BTC14

Yifu is a trusted member of the BTCitcion community

these guys are not
the difficulty has increased 5x
5 other legitimate companies have announced chip manufacture.

If these guys want to sell ANYTHING at this point they should really be considering escrowed immediate shipping for no more than BTC20

modules for 14? so for 4 makes 56 plus case? id buy something like this for 50-80 after next diff.

They want BTC105 per unit

Think this through and be realistic. You are asking everyone else to take a huge loss, and delay their boards much much further than they would at present.

So, since you seem to have a contact with Avalon that noone else has. What is the delivery time at present?

I never said that I did, but neither do you so when would gen 2 chips arrive? You dont know, neither do I. But if you are just going to change the subject when I point out issues in the logic why are we continuing to discuss this?

They say gen2 in october!
So since we are not asking for refund, nor for compensation.
LETS WAIT! thats the best idea.

and where in your mind, did i say a refund means no ability at all to purchase chips?
a refund, would give the groupbuyers an option to purchase when there is stock..
I might even be fine with the refund ending up in steamboats hands, and he negotiates a new price for us..
But, lets stick to creating problems! thats more fun.
430  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 12, 2013, 03:51:12 PM
20$ per board over thousands of boards....and this is not something you just fix, you redesign. How long would it take to change the board and then source new parts (potentially) since you do not know if the current ones will work. Would you need new regulators?
What i've read, there's no new boards needed, pins are same, just some components replacements.
And if you have ordered thousands of boards, you need to look what pays you back the most, gen 1 coming in another month. or gen 2 coming in two months (avalon numbers)
If you would have the refund meanwhile, it would give you the option at least. With difficulty going up 40-50% ever 11 days..
I just do not want to see them deliver as nothing happened, without any compensation. A refund, could mean with an option to buy when in stock, at a later stage to show good faith.
But if you want to create problems, instead of suggesting solutions, be my guest. I'm sure its a lot of help to someone.
431  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 12, 2013, 03:43:46 PM
And what happens to the people that bought parts already and are sitting on non refundable parts? Should they have their chips refunded (most of the people in the group buy) to satisfy  a few users in the group buy? Lets be realistic here.

If Avalon is right about gen2 coming out in october. Those past groupbuys should get priority (for example those with refund).
Old hardware designs shall support gen 2 chips.
Would that then not be best? get refund now, wait for gen 2 when you might actually get some of your investment back. And then they only offer gen 2 based on in stock ordering so we will know that the delivery time will be correct.

How do you know those chips would function on the old boards that were already bought and paid for by the group buy members? Do they have the same pin out? Voltage? Watts? Amps? Grounds? There are so many factors to consider that could make the entire investment a waste in your scenario that I would rather just wait.

They have said it themselves.. So, add a $20 per board to support it fully.
Waiting solves most problems! Good call.
I think thats how we should solve world peace also! LETS WAIT IT OUT!!!
Again, speechless.

From what I read the gen2 will be the same size, but different pinout and I'm sure other small differences would need a complete redesign. You can't expect to just drop it in.

Ok, so an additional $20 per board to fix compatibility with gen2.
Still no intererest? And no interest of compensation from a company making millions?
433  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 12, 2013, 03:38:47 PM
What's the point in getting chip refunds when we've already paid for assembly etc?  I'd rather have a miner with chips in it than a miner without chips sitting on my desk.

So you don't want any compensation for delays?
What if the refund gave you priority of gen2 delivered in october, and your board would support it?
I'm speechless of how friendly some people are for getting screwed like this..

435  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [POLL/VOTE] What should Avalon do with our past due orders? on: August 12, 2013, 03:33:09 PM
Sorry,

But a failure to deliver on time. Not provide proper information demands refunds. As for Yifu blocking the chips even further at this point is meaningless we need to simply boycott Avalon and make sure we disrupt his Gen2 to Gen4 sales here in this community as much as possible. We have a breach of contract and that must be rectified now SebJu asking for coupons, waiting for him to deliver another 1 to 2 weeks later is not the terms and conditions we agreed to as chip buyers. It was 4 weeks for developer chips and 9 to 10 weeks for the main orders. Avalon failed to deliver. I do not see how politely accepting compromises for such a failure is in anyone's best interest especially the community. We all need to stop being weak and band together and cause Avalon some pain back where it counts Gen2 sales. BOYCOTT until we are all properly compensated. Refunds must be given if asked that is LEGALLY what we are entitled to given the failure to deliver the product. We will be emailing all the interested group buy owners soon to start legal action against Yifu and Avalon.

I hear you but, just think of those (not me) who have invested in the 100K+ USD range on equipment (not even on the ASIC chips) that they will probably have to scrap if they get a refund and no chips. Not to mention the depreciation of the BTC in USD terms (up to 50%).

I seriously don't think a refund is the best option, but if you think it's what's best for you, I hope Avalon will make that an option too.

That is exactly why the groupbuyers and hosting investors should ask for a refund/compensation. Initiate the refund, offer new price when they have stock, and give groupbuyers priority to get back in line.
Or are you suggesting that risking getting the chips when they are worthless, is actually what they want?
If i'd invested 100k in hardware, i'd rather get back something of the additional chip investment..
If they do a refund then, they would redeem themselves and hosting investors can purchase gen 2 chips to put on the boards, since they say that hardware designs wont change (or very little).
436  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 12, 2013, 03:23:24 PM
If we were to all request refunds, do you think Yifu would give them? Or would it cause a bank run? Would he just disappear and pocket all the money he got so far? That is the general method of operation with btc businesses when the going gets tough. I would rather have the miners than chance any of that.

There are risks in running businesses, And Avalon should take their part in the risk here. So instead of making millions, he will make less on this deal. And then potentially redeem himself when delivering Gen 2. By sticking his head in the sand, he wont sell any Gen 2 chips..
And if rumors are true, with backing of big big operators, they wont allow him to "disappear and pocket the money", they'd rather take the fault, to redeem themselves in gen 2.
We are all allowed to have our opinions. Just dont get why someone speaks for someone else for no particular reason.
And yes, we also took a risk. But those risks were based on 9-10 weeks delivery. not 20, 30 or 40 weeks.
Refund, give new price when in stock. Give all GroupBuyers priority if they want to get back in.
437  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 12, 2013, 03:17:34 PM
Cardcomm, even if you are right, it just wont happen.

And you are basing this on? Personal relations with Avalon? They have a refund ticket in their ordering system. Are you saying its not valid any longer?
Any specific reason why you are speaking for Avalon in this case?
438  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 12, 2013, 03:16:12 PM
Has anyone seen the latest project next difficulty level? The situation is looking quite bleak. This delay has already killed our ROI.

The only profits left at this point are for the assemblers / group buy leaders. The chips will probably ship eventually, the assemblers will build and ship out then worthless products. Everyone will have "fulfilled their obligations". The assemblers and group buy leaders will have their profits, and the end users will be the proud new owners of equipment worth far less than they paid for it.

Rinse and repeat, and that's the Bitcoin mining hardware business in a nutshell.

I'm a small buyer in one of the later batches. I know my opinion counts for zip in this matter. Yet I'd like to go on record and state that I strongly disagree with Steamboat's "wait and see attitude". Yes, if we wait long enough, we'll probably get the chips. But what's the point by then?

Steamboat has stated he will continue to monitor the situation. I'm not even sure what that means. If that means he's exploring civil and law enforcement intervention, then fine. If it means he's monitoring his email for news on when Avalon may decide to ship, that's not good enough!

The excuses in Avalon's latest statement are hard to believe at best. Frankly, IMO It's one of the most absurd official company lies I've ever seen. It's clearly a ploy to get us off his back for a couple more weeks. AND WE ARE DOING JUST WHAT HE WANTS! Yifu is acting like a spoiled child trying to get his way, and we are letting him get away with it.

Ideally, I'd like to see all the group buy leaders get together and take a united stance. I feel that is our best chance at a timely resolution. Combined, they should have enough leverage to get things moving.

Barring that happening, I'd like to see Steamboat step up and say just a little bit more than "Let's just keep waiting". If nothing else, set a deadline for chip shipments, and outline potential next steps should that shipping window not be met. The group buy individual purchasers don't have a contract with Avalon. Steamboat does. It's time he actively advocate for our rights under that contract!

Some sort of action must be taken soon, or we may as well all just pack it up! Simply continuing to wait will have EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this group buy lose their ass. But hey, it's bitcoin mining - nothing new there, right?

I know I've said things in this post that will be unpopular. Flame away if you must. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just stating things as I see them. Something must be done here guys!

PS: I'll try and respond kindly to the inevitable flames to my post. But please excuse me if my responses are delayed. As a customer in a later batch, my profits are gone at this point no matter what happens. I'll probably take a break from here and go lick my wounds. Someone wake me up if my miners ever ship...

Absolutely agree.. Only if we speak up, we can expect refunds or compensation.
It doesnt matter if you lost $10 or $10,000. Each group buy was for 700BTC. It should be the voice of everyone, in the same boat.
439  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 12, 2013, 12:15:01 PM
Since i was mentioned a couple of times... our groupbuy is parted regarding refund. Half would take one, the other not.

Was there are poll? Haven't seen one.

BTW, your group buys 5 and 6 are still under 10 weeks old, so they are not breach of contract. Yet.

On the poll i made, around a combined 55% wants a refund and/or take them to court. the remaining are trusting in compensation somehow. (10% says they dont care, i do believe them to be trolls not buying into any group buys)..

May i suggest that you link to your new project in your footer? It's always a hassle finding these interesting projects and my watchlist doesnt seem to update all the time.
