421  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Keyur @ CampBX has gone rogue!! LAWSUIT, ARREST AND CRIMINAL CHARGES ON HORIZON on: August 26, 2013, 11:18:42 PM
Don't restrain yourself, because I'm not going to argue with you about any emotional viewpoints you have.  Because from a distance no one will be able to tell who's the fool as easily as they can right now.

Well, at least there is one thing we can agree on.

This makes no sense. According to your own story you mailed the money order 8/17/13. It has not even been ten days since you put it in the mail (on Saturday no less) and you're threatening a lawsuit?!?
Telling me it makes no sense, is an attack at attempting to discredit me.

That's not an attack. That's giving my assessment, which I stick to. As for discrediting someone that seems to be what you're trying to do to CampBX by pulling up threads from 2012 like this one:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=113365.0

Yes I wrote that to establish timeline matching using what most call a "calendar".

What are you trying to say? Believe me I've been restraining myself from attacking you which you would have no doubt about when done. Like I said, you said you mailed it on 8/17/13. Today is 8/26/13. According to math and dates that is less than ten days. Ten a number right after nine BTW, so that's less than ten days after you yourself said you mailed the MO, and you're threatening a lawsuit.

Businesses have different processes for crediting accounts and updating internal books. These may not always be what the customer imagines. I'm not saying CampBX has provided stellar service regarding your particular issue, but threatening them with lawsuit, arrest, and criminal charges over $1,500 in limbo under 10 days seems a real over reaction.
423  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Keyur @ CampBX has gone rogue!! LAWSUIT, ARREST AND CRIMINAL CHARGES ON HORIZON on: August 26, 2013, 10:26:32 PM
Actually my timeframes are on point.  You're not reading them correctly ...

This is a quote from you from your thread here (from the 7th paragraph):

I mailed the money order on 8/17/2013 (a Saturday I know),  considering I have co-workers in Georgia and actually very near to their offices I knew the delivery time and also knew it would arrive no later than Monday afternoon from where I mailed it (I'm only 2 states away).

What did I misread?

Please do continue to attack me for standing up for myself, it certifies that I'm on the right path.

Where did I attack you?
424  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Keyur @ CampBX has gone rogue!! LAWSUIT, ARREST AND CRIMINAL CHARGES ON HORIZON on: August 26, 2013, 10:00:37 PM
This makes no sense. According to your own story you mailed the money order 8/17/13. It has not even been ten days since you put it in the mail (on Saturday no less) and you're threatening a lawsuit?!?

I also clicked on some of those "complaint" links you posted. I couldn't find a single thread that had an unresolved issue from people with long term forum accounts. This is the worst I could find and it seems to be only a problem with their ticketing system:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=279594.0

Other threads are from 2012 which is a lifetime in Bitcoin time.

I was here when CampBX first launched. In fact, they are one of the oldest surviving Bitcoin exchanges besides Mt.Gox. Others were either scams or went out of business from being hacked etc. CampBX made security a focus from day one, and they have never been hacked. I have also dealt with them for a long time and had no problem. CampBX is a business like any other and no business will be perfect from the perspective of every customer.

I'm tempted to give you $1500 myself if you promise to leave the Bitcoin community and not come back for 10 years, until all businesses with enough problems fighting against over burdensome regulations can do so and still flawlessly meet the expectations of every individual that signs up.
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ron Paul cool with bitcoins on: August 26, 2013, 08:42:51 PM
I visited Yoakum, TX and looked to buy a house there.  It was a very nice 3 bedroom with hardwood floors, large pecan trees, a nice detached workshop, garden space, and a shelter for animals, though I have forgotten whether it was chickens or goats.  The price was about 1/4 of the cost of our Austin house.

It turns out that the people there pretty solidly don't want taxes.  They vote for Ron Paul, and they are happy with no taxes.  As near as I can tell, Ron Paul delivers on his "minimal government" idea, his rhetoric and his action agree with each other.  His district likes him.

I respect this.

The reason that I did not move there was because of all the things that you get with no taxes.  There were holes big enough to swallow a Volkswagen in the roads.  The sidewalks were busted up.  Store after store was out of business.  Many streetlights were burned out.  Many roads within the town were unpaved.  It was like visiting a vibrant ghost town.  We sat with our prospective neighbors across the street.  She was a nurse.  In the conversation, it became pretty apparent that the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, attorneys, were the only people in town who had studied after college.  There was no live music scene, a difficult thing to abandon in Austin.  There was no entrepreneurial environment, unless selling 100 year old rusty horse shoes and kerosene lanterns to tourists, or starting a beauty salon meets your criteria for entrepreneurial.

I like the idea of a $50,000/year job with taxis, restaurants, music, roads that don't tear up my car, and $10,000 in taxes more than I like the idea of no taxes, $20,000/year job, and no amenities.

What are you talking about?

There is no way Ron Paul as a U.S. congressman for a single district in Texas could eliminate taxes. He can't remove your federal or state income tax liabilities, state sales tax, or even property tax, so what are you talking about?

Also, if you want to compare what you get with taxes then try looking at Detroit which has some of the highest property taxes in the nation, fire departments with sewage backing up through the floor and holes in the boots but with the fire chief building a $60M new housing facility.

And Detroit is not alone. Governments are inefficient and the bigger they are the more inefficient (and probably corrupt) they are.
426  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 26, 2013, 07:12:11 PM
Ok the BTC price has largely recovered from June and fully from July. If you requested a withdrawal anytime after July 1st you can cancel that request and sell your BTC elsewhere at a premium probably. Anything after June 1st can probably break even. I believe earlier withdrawals are largely filled. This BTC price rise should really ease this issue. Once again, there seems to be no problem withdrawing BTC from Mt.Gox. Simply contact their support by chat or email to cancel your USD withdrawal request (chat may be best).

no, i have been waiting 2 month for 1000 EUR and more than 1 month for 750 EUR.
it shows, that smaller amounts up to 500 EUR are much faster. maybe it's better to split it in smaller amounts.
Are they listed as SEPA or International?  SEPA is fast, international fits your description.

427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This currency is too volatile! on: August 25, 2013, 04:20:17 PM
I can post any claim I want, come up with any random link to support that claim, and be sure that about 80% of the people reading my post will assume I'm telling the truth ...

No, I doubt you could claim that as a male you gave birth and post a random link and be sure 80% of the people reading would assume you're telling the truth.

If, however, you post something that is easily likely, such as a profit or loss % on BTC between arbitrary dates given its volatility, then yes people will tend to imagine you're telling the truth if you assert it as such.

Also, wouldn't Goldcoin have to beat Feathercoin first?
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldcoin Takes The Podium - Another First For Goldcoin on: August 24, 2013, 11:40:05 PM

Goldcoin (GLD) has just become the first coin at cryptsy.com to be traded in both BTC and LTC at the same time.

First place goes to Goldcoin.

Goldcoin Takes the Podium.

1. This belongs in the Alt-coin section
2. Goldcoin says it's an improved version of Litecoin but doesn't seem to have any improvements

432  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 23, 2013, 08:04:07 PM
... None of that delay comes from money-laundering regulations or conspiracy theories involving governments. This is plain, ordinary "they don't have enough money" stalling.

Why do you think Mt.Gox doesn't have enough money? You do realize Mt.Gox was making money on BTC years ago when it was less than $0.50. You don't think they loaded up on BTC which is now worth over $100 (over a 10,000% increase)? I may not know much about their USD, but I'll bet anything they have a ton of BTC worth millions in USD at the very least.
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox article. Validity?! on: August 23, 2013, 07:03:01 PM
And one more thing for all those people thinking Mt.Gox must be insolvent. Mt.Gox was the first real Bitcoin exchange, trading BTC when it was less than $0.50. They were making thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars or more for a long time with the opportunity to buy BTC at those prices and Litecoins for less than $0.05.

Mt.Gox was obviously bullish on cryptocurrency. Who know how many thousands or likely hundreds of thousands of BTC/LTC they own themselves, which are now worth millions in USD.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox article. Validity?! on: August 23, 2013, 05:57:18 PM
From an earlier thread I did some math:

Well, some quick math... Mt.Gox does volume of around 22490 BTC (current) multiplied by $100 equals $2,249,000 in daily trades. Their trade fee is 0.6% which is $13,494 but multiplied by 2 since they charge on both buy/sell side equals 26,988 daily revenue multiplied by 30 days is about $809,640 clear revenue per month.

They don't need to advertise and their hosting costs I'm sure are a small fraction of that. Holding up $2.9M of theirs would be an unfortunate blow, but I don't believe detrimental.

I calculated about $809,640 clear revenue per month for Mt.Gox. I'm sure they have decent expenses but I would think they're a fraction of that. If Mt.Gox was a product manufacturer then I could see a problem, because holding up capital delays payments to suppliers etc. That could impact business. Actually Mt.Gox only deals with moving money around. Tying up 5M of theirs would be a big blow to profits I believe, but would not make them insolvent, nor inhibit their ability to continue operating.

Also, they plan to introduce Litecoin trading soon which I think will significantly boost their trade volume and of course fees and revenue.
435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 100% Bitcoin will be denied on: August 23, 2013, 12:29:49 AM
Ok, still you have not replied to my question! I don't understand the assumption taxes=evil ...

It's quite simple. Who do you trust to spend the money in your pocket better, you or the government?

Governments are inefficient. The bigger they are the more inefficient they are. I'll list three quick examples from the top of my head. The DMV. Do you think the DMV could be run more efficiently by government or private companies? I'm not saying private companies should do it, I'm asking about efficiency.

How about FEMA... For Hurricane Katrina FEMA eventually decided to melt thousands of pounds of ice stored at a cost of $12.5 million after trucking it thousands of miles south then back north finding that much wasn't needed.

What about the VA? I'm not a veteran but I've heard terrible things about the service there. Wouldn't more be expected of a First World country that holds the world's reserve currency and a multi-trillion dollar economy?

Another example is the government paying $16 per muffin for conferences.

Last, Detroit has some of the highest property taxes in the country. How are they doing? I could go on and on.

This is what happens when costs are not tied to actual market values and the natural regulators of free market forces. If people are free to pay only for what they deem valuable then those items will be up to scratch or not exist at all.
436  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dwolla freezing all financial transfers related to bitcoins?! on: August 22, 2013, 10:03:43 PM
The presumptuous language they use never fails to appall me ("we appreciate your understanding"). I hope they appreciate their business circling the sinkhole.
It really is a shame since CampBX has slowly been improving volume and narrowing their bid-ask spread.  Plus their fee of 0.55% is better than Coinbase's 1%, plus they usually have a lower price.  The disadvantage has been the three days to move funds from bank to Dwolla (from dwolla to campbx is near-instant).  Now, just to safe 0.45%, it not worth wiring funds or mailing them to CampBX - will just stick with coinbase.  This is great news for coinbase, bad news for campbx and bad for US Bitcoiners.

CampBX supports ACH too.

We need to beef up those SatoshiSquares and localbitcoins.com as these are things that can't be regulated away, not easily anyway.

EDIT: actually the ACH is for withdrawals only.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: direct buy litecoin, with cash on: August 22, 2013, 12:46:39 AM
Try the currency exchange section:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0

Edit: also try localbitcoins.com

well it'll be exponentially faster to buy bitcoins via coinbase than litecoins through escrow or arranging a meetup on that forum

is there like a coinbase for litecoin

Not yet but I believe there will be eventually.

Edit: also try localbitcoins.com as people selling bitcoins may also have litecoins.
439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my wallets were stolen just now, can any one help me? on: August 21, 2013, 05:14:08 PM
There should be a better solution then stop using Windows, how else are non technical people gonna adapt Bitcoin?

I work with non technical people and I convinced them to leave windows for good 4/5 years ago. Most of them went to OSX and bought macbooks, a couple of them chose Linux (specifically Ubuntu and Linux Mint, which I'd say are even easier to use than Windows). All of them say they would NEVER go back to Windoze.

Well good luck convincing the rest of the world, that a couple people started using Linux doesn't change the fact the majority of the world doesn't use it.

We need a save way to use it on Windows, that's a fact. I think the best way is to educate them to use some kind of 2 factor authorization (ie. password + mobile phone), that should keep most wallets save.

Using the Trezor with Windows would be a perfectly secure way to store and spend coins. (But people should really try migrating away from Windows)
