421  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Custom Case Build on: August 08, 2015, 04:14:03 PM
Thought I should post that I have finally (about a month ago) retired this system. It has been shut down and is in the process of being dismantled. For most of it's life it was mining scrypt but towards the end when the GPU fans gave out (and they ALL gave out eventually) it was transitioned to X11.

One of the power supplies has found a new home in an A2 Mega Terminator. More info on that here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1145159

This being a hobby I do not really track profits/loss but without a doubt it has made many times over the cost to build...but if you factor in my normal hourly bill rate I'm not so sure.  Wink
The GPU rigs were something to behold, they were affordable and available to everyone.  Thanks for your efforts.

Strange way of unveiling a new product, learning about it from the distributor.  Seems Bitmain reached deep into their pockets
and pulled out a bunch of lint. Cheesy
423  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: World biggest bitcoin /SHA256 miner 7.7T@3400W on: August 08, 2015, 07:19:19 AM
It's fun to see but if this is really from Bitmain I'm very disappointed.  Waisting peoples time with new + models after months of waiting for S2 upgrade kits which were announced.  Not very ingenious slapping oc S5's together but interesting none the less.

No need to say any more.
They are not paid of investment any more from August 6th.
They are certainly a scammers.
Also they did not shipping product of order.

I don't like UK in business.

BitcionCloudServices(UK), Clouthink(UK), Pbmining(Canada)
I lost thousands of dollars in a place like this.
I am so angry because anything I can do.

I think cloudmining is basically fraud.

What can I doing? Help me.
PBMining had regular payouts for over a year and a half,  have they too been defunk.  I have an account I guess I will check.
Would be nice if the community could come together and develop our own patrol of scams and the ability to act on it.
Of course it would be called something with a three letter abbreviation.
425  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CloudThink NEW 8TH/s Imperator Bitcoin Miner - Apply for a FREE test unit on: August 07, 2015, 08:16:29 PM
...if a handful of us trusted members receive test units...

Or even one...  I'm a bit confused by the selection of reviewers that seem to have been chosen so far...

did you read the OP?

they have 30 unit's avail for testing / reviews

Yes, I did.  I'm just trying to figure out why 1) they're asking people to post review threads before a unit is received, 2) they're selecting reviewers with 0 or next to 0 trust ratings to be the reviewers, 3) they would launch a product as important to their company as this from an account with negative trust.  Perhaps it will be explained to me in a response to my sent message.  I'd love one of these units as much as the next guy, but the red flags are starting to pile up already.  Hopefully I will be proven wrong as a skeptic.  Nothing would please me more.

PLEASE DO NOT ORDER AN S5 FROM THIS COMPANY FOR $199.
Your point taken but trust is easily gained by selling equipment via forum.  Some of us don't take that approach but deserve the trust just the same.  All due respect.
426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: August 07, 2015, 06:12:53 PM
If you read all the pages then you would have had your answer and noticed everyone still believes it's possible even though Bitmain has taken that ability away it seems.  If you want a true answer hit up dogie.  Quit talking smack about people trying to help.
427  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: August 07, 2015, 12:23:26 AM
Doesn't sound good.

I only sent the PSU - have been told by Bitmain that the APW3-12-1600 PSU Series will work with any S4 provided you have the right voltage 205V + - waiting for confirmation that adapting the cables is possible to do properly - not with plastic tape and solder
Yes it will, but moving to that voltage for most means moving it in your kitchen or laundry room.  But the old psu ver. 1 and 2 suck d!c4.  Only viable option is the apw3-12 until J4bberwok gets his working solution.  We want a psu that fits in the case not outside.  Mine will be sent back to Denver, this time just the psu so there's no funny business.  I will demand this new psu since they seem to replace warrantied psu's with used stock.
428  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: August 06, 2015, 06:22:50 PM
PSU APW3-12-1600-B2 can be used on any version of S4 with some may require cable modifications with the breakout board.

1 string attached with the PSU APW3-12-1600-B2 is you must have 208V or higher.  (205v or higher) to be able to use it.

If you have to use 110v, depends on the condition of your PSU, centers in Denver, Ukraine or Serbia may able to repair it for you.  If it still powers on and gives you some ERROR LED Status.

Support@bitmain.zendesk.com is the route to request servicing your original S4 PSU if it is not completely dead yet. If the fan won't power on, or no LED light comes on, then it is not serviceable.

Unfortunately at the moment, S4 PSU is not in stock.  Time to time, the centers in USA/Serbia/Ukraine may have those in stock so please keep checking with the supports

OK so I sent my S4 PSU to Serbia for fixing came back fixed and worked for about 10 days then same thing. Machine off with ERROR LED status.

Is it a reset that can be done easily - as it costs a small fortune to send to Serbia from UK. If how? Looks fine inside Smiley

Re the PSU APW3-12-1600-B2 I notice in the pdf manual it offers 2 types of wiring Type 1 : old type with M4 ring connectors and Type 2 PCIe type

Is this provided? - if not what did you mean by cable modifications with breakout board. Is it as simple as unscrewing/unbolting the PCI cables from the position shown in the image showing the cables and replacing with the original cables from the old PSU.
Be prewarned.  My S4 just came back from Bitmain Denver from repair of psu and worked for 10 min before getting alarm light.  Now it doesn't power up.  Seems they are replacing these with used psu's and after $200 spent including shipping I was expecting the psu to be replaced with the 220v new model psu for that price.  Now I'm sending back the psu again since they said they would warranty it for 60 days.  It came back dusty as hell.  Was totally clean inside before repair and pool info switched to theirs.  I sent it to them for repair not to mine their own pools with.  At least if your going to test it let it mine my pools Bitmain.  Another week wasted.

Ck or Dogie or anyone, Can someone explain how to use the Sept 26th Firmware with Cgminer 4.9 with extra nonce?

Installing thru ssh to make sure it stays put thru a reboot???

I wanna be able to use the first firmware with the latest miner so i can use voltage control to downclock my miner.
If this is for the S4 then go here  https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140930114518599JXGHWWD80660  and download this :  initramfs.bin.SD-20141016.tar.gz
It was the last firmware that allowed underclocking  (Oct. 16th 2014).  Go to your gui and navigate to the Miner Configuration tab then the Advanced tab.  At the bottom you can search for where you downloaded the firmware and upload it to the S4.  Miner may reset and when it comes back you may need to reconfigure your pools.  Here gives you some predetermined underclocks  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=796839.0  it's the beginning of this thread pg. 1.  No need to ssh into it as long as you have a windows computer.

Underclocks on that page don't work!
What firmware are you using?

I have used all firmwares...

The best underclock ive been able to achieve was

freq 100
volt 0670

Now that i have gone thru all the underclocks & voltages using a kill o watt

The above said freq & volt dont do anything to change the power output

The 640 watts returned thru the kill o watt is merely the power drop from 740 watts to 640 watts caused by the fans running slower as the machine is running cooler...

Not a true underclock in my book

Please tell me about your underclock settings & what wattage was achieved??

I've been busting these forums butts & bitmains for ages to get something done.

Please tell me u used a kill o watt to prove ur settings!

My current firmware is : Thu Oct 16 15:58:23 CST 2014
Anyone want to chime in on this?  My S4 is currently at Bitmain in Denver for repair.

Meech,

If u had bothered to read the thread in its whole u would know the voltages don't work from page one, I must have made at least 5 comments about voltages & underclocks.

Please do research before chiming in blindly!
Wasn't blindly chiming in but trying to point you to the info.  I do not need to read the whole thread because I'm not underclocking mine.  I was giving you my best advice.  But since you read the whole thread .... theres your answer .... case closed...thank you.
430  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ETHICAL PROBLEM WITH BITMAIN on: August 04, 2015, 05:43:11 AM
I gave them high regards since they repaired my out of warranty S4 for only the cost of the part and initial shipping to them.  When it came to pay the bill I was offered choices which in turn were discounted even further on payment.  I didn't ask for it.  I believe they work weekends as well at Denver.  You can't compare Bitmain to a Sony or such company and shouldn't think their product follows the same suit.  You don't see the PS4 selling for 2k then drop to $400 in a few months.  These companies fall into a different demographic unfortunately.
431  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ETHICAL PROBLEM WITH BITMAIN on: August 03, 2015, 06:20:28 PM
Although my opinion varies on their sales and marketing.  Their warranty and repair of non warrantied equipment is top notch.  Albeit from their lack of replacement parts on hand which tends to be nill, my experience was Bitmain US in Denver.

can you tell me how so >  warranty and repair of non warrantied equipment is top notch .  i just tried once again to buy two hash boards even offered to send in my boards for repair got a really rude reply back on that one,  I don't care if there new or used as long as they work i don't need a warranty either but they want more then what it costs for a used/second hand  S5  . mine is out of warranty, that's top notch ? .

Ive been treated way better in warranty by them. i may have it sold on ebay any way , i was just hoping to save to a few bucks and keep it, i planed to buy a used/second hand one if it sold sense they increased the warranty to 30 days .. and it makes better sense to buy it used/second hand S5 at least then i know it's ok . and Works , some times buying used is best just depends who you buy from .

This was just my experience with them.  Like I said  they fail when it comes to spare parts for miners.  You can't hope for them to repair everything after warranty is over.  This is just the way the industry is.

By L1, do you mean the product that Bitmain declined to actually produce? I wouldn't expect them to Sartre their engineering for that project anytime soon. That's even more unlikely than the folks waiting for S2 upgrade, that hasn't arrived.
Doggie made it sound like L1 was produced just never sold to public consumers, there may be a warehouse out there with a ton of of them hashing!
Exactly my stance and problem with Bitmain -- "The for profit company".

Who do they think they are? Trying to make money. As a money making company.
The point was there was a time when these companies built specialized equipment for the hobbyist/miner/investor releasing the full potential of that equipment.  Much is dumbed down or reworked hardware now just to squeeze another cent from us.  If sidehack can tweak existing equipment within weeks don't you believe a large company with a staffed r&d produce better more efficient miners than the small jumps we've been getting.  "Built by Miners for Miners" is a term that has faded.

438  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: July 23, 2015, 06:11:20 PM
You've gotta admit the S2 being a larger 4u case allows larger/quieter fans and with the backplane the simplest upgradeable design.
439  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: July 22, 2015, 10:59:54 PM
In my area an Antminer S2 is highly sough after because we have low electricity rates and can make more money with an S2 then with one S3.

And I am sure in your area there are people who live in apartment buildings or get free electricity at work and would take the S2. You're best bet is to just sell them. You might be able to get $100-$200 for them. They sell like CRAZY on ebay and amazon.

Try $200 plus still on Ebay.  Posting another one today but hate dealing with the shipping - they don't travel well unlike the S4.  Just impatient in the long wait that may never come.  It would still be wise for Bitmain to release these kits as their are far more S2's in the world than S4's or S4+'s.  The hashing power of the kit was suppose to be around 2+ th when they first announced it.  And like beating a dead horse, would have been great back in the first quarter of this year.
440  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 22, 2015, 10:48:11 PM
Sold out... my ass!  They never intended to sell in small quantities or may never in the future.  I'm sure they needed plenty of investors to prepay to cover their first run efforts.  It's a neat toy, and everyone wants one just cuz' but it will be awhile before a reseller has them and not without a markup.
