421  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: January 04, 2021, 01:07:24 AM
It was easier when btc price was less,
now that it is way up it brings a lot of stress..  Cheesy

Cool and helpful!  Smiley
It really shows all about the psu thoroughly at the component level.
423  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon T2T 30T review on: January 03, 2021, 07:46:43 PM
I've encountered something similar: traffic light controllers (which is a big part of my day job) with a bad lamp switch board.
The lamp switch board was disassembled, and then it's connector was cleaned and rubbed with connection grease.
After that the board was put back in to the controller, and tadah' it was working ok again.  Grin

(these are the mysteries of the ITC-2 controller)

The connections are always worth a while to check, when problems occur.

I've pointed here a 0.5PH rent for about a day, and I also started up my "summer cottage heater", which gives me a constant 8TH hash during the cold winter time (it's a AvalonMiner 841 with low power firmware).  Smiley

Fingers crossed! Here blocky, blocky.
Also, happy year 2021 guys! Lets hope this one is better than 2020.
425  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon1 assembly on: January 03, 2021, 07:19:37 PM
Never got one of these... my first Avalon was Avalon 6.

Maybe you will find the answer to your question from these sources?
I looked at the bitcoin wiki site and there was a link to the assembly guide,
but the link is dead. I also went to search the Canaan fw download directory but I can't find it there (https://download.canaan-creative.com/).

If you can't get sub 10 cent per kWh electricity price, I'd say forget it

Escrow is a must, especially with shady guys like this!
428  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the most efficient 120 volt miner at the moment? on: January 02, 2021, 08:51:13 PM
If you want to run a btc miner and connect it to your pc which will be on anyway, then the best choices for you are GekkoScience Terminus pod miner or GekkoScience 2Pac usb stick miner.
429  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the most efficient 120 volt miner at the moment? on: January 02, 2021, 12:35:53 PM
Just have an electrician install you a 220V outlet or use that dryer outlet (an existing 220V outlet in your house?) you mentioned.
430  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 pro weird temperature differences between chips and pcbs on: December 31, 2020, 04:56:53 PM
@wndsnb
Yep insects can be harmful for the gear,
I've had an European wasp fly in the summer in to my DIY soundproofing cabinet and it was stuck (and dead) under the cabinet's slower rpm fan blade...  Cheesy
So it clogged the fan but after I removed the wasp, the fan luckily started to spin ok again.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Just starting out. Looking at Antminer L3+?? on: December 29, 2020, 12:27:35 AM
If your S9 electricity cost is smaller than the S9 mining profit,
and you can get a reasonable ROI time (maybe something between half an year - a year) ,
then sure go ahead.

But beware, they are noisy....

And don't buy the S9k variant, it has breaked a lot.

The original S9 and also S9j, S9i models are ok.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Just starting out. Looking at Antminer L3+?? on: December 28, 2020, 09:15:36 PM
The L3+ is a Litecoin (scrypt algorithm) miner, not Bitcoin (SHA-256 algorithm) miner.

GPUs are also for altcoin mining, not Bitcoin mining.

Mining at Nicehash pool is not Bitcoin mining,
even though you get btc as reward.

If you end up with an actual Bitcoin (SHA-256) miner,
this is a good first timer guide -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4636521.0
433  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Canaan Avalon 1066 on: December 28, 2020, 12:56:05 PM
@Phil
I found this product page for PSU3300-01 at the AplusPower company website: http://www.aplus-powersupply.com/products/bitcoin_powersupply/3300w-12-14v-power-supply-avalon-a1066/

According to AplusPower this model is compatible both with A1066 and A1066 Pro.

Maybe the 3600-01 is an improved version of the PSU3300-01 model ?

436  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: December 18, 2020, 08:25:18 PM
The lead time is so long that it probably makes more sense to buy Avalon 1246, which is in the same power efficiency area as T19.

Or MicroBT hardware, if it has reasonable lead time via some distributor.. (their own web shop shows all sold out).

Bitmain doesn't really shame on their dirty ways of making money for the owners!    Angry
