I'm interested
But do YOU understand the technology?
4282  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Who is Satoshi - but more importantly how would we know? on: May 15, 2013, 07:57:11 PM
So I get that Satoshi's identity isn't known and it MAY be a group of people and whatnot. But if Satoshi revealed himself today, how would we know that it was him? How can he prove that he's the creator of the almighty Bitcoin?
All he needs to do is just spending the coinbase from the first block Smiley
Bitcoin-qt New network rules don't allow such spending.

it's not that simple.
Actually, it is
4287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any guide on how to create a alternate currency to bitcoin on: May 15, 2013, 03:30:34 PM
Well before you get started you have to be an anonymous hacker.
Tell me you're kidding
98% of Bitcoin copycats are created by people who just modified 4 lines of code

I get the work count from https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/devtome_23.csv which states weighted word count too
But yeah you should be right, thanks for pointing that out
Looks like your 1095 were counted as a share in round 22: https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/devtome_22.csv

Have you given unthinkingbit a dvc address as that round is being paid now. There seems to have been a problem with devda wallets, if you have one take a look at some messages earlier today/yesterday about getting around it.
Actually it's not about the payment, which is ok, it's a wallet address
It's about the file that Unthinkingbit posted earlier: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg2129211#msg2129211. I'm not there and I wondered why
because that file refers to round 23 word earnings and your word count was in round 22 (which is why in the original round 23 file you posted...
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/devtome_23.csv
...you have one share as 'Previous Cumulative Payout' rather than 'Payout'
Ok I see, I thought the post was cumulative, thanks

4292  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: jeeq: ECDSA encryption on: May 14, 2013, 09:59:38 PM
I just pushed a new version
You no more need to mess with the code, -i, -k and -o options handle files and data

Example:
Code:
#ENCRYPTION (-e)
python jeeq.py -e                                                 #Will ask for the text to encrypt, the recipient's public key and will print the output
python jeeq.py -e -i secretkeys.txt                               #Will ask the recipient's public key, will encrypt secretkeys.txt and will print the output
python jeeq.py -e -i secretkeys.txt -o encryptedsk                #Will ask the recipient's public key, will encrypt secretkeys.txt and will write the output to the file encryptedsk
python jeeq.py -e -k 0499a6037487a0ea0ae4867f7e60a6c4ac477103b4d3ed9ce8c84804a32f53ff802633de6e8ccd6a9b13fab97a29b0bda794576613f5abc17b40d993629c457aae
#Will ask for the text to encrypt, will use the given recipient's public key and will print the output

#DECRYPTION (-d)
python jeeq.py -d                                                 #Will ask for the text to decrypt, the recipient's private key and will print the output
python jeeq.py -d -i encryptedsk                                  #Will ask the recipient's private key, will decrypt encryptedsk and will print the output
python jeeq.py -d -i encryptedsk -o secretkeys-decrypted.txt      #Will ask the recipient's private key, will decrypt encryptedsk and will write the output to the file secretkeys-decrypted.txt
python jeeq.py -d -k 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001
#Will ask for the text to decrypt, will use the given recipient's private key and will print the output

The options are of course mixable

Imagine the world in a few years/decades, when the politics will be those who are around 20 nowadays.
I'd like you to imagine that world, where politics know that DRMs are bad, and more importantly, WHY they are bad.

These guys will know how to create a Google account, what is a URL and what is Tor.
No, OK, no Tor, I'm pushing it too far.
Well, imagine India prime minister saying that it will make an union with Pakistan in order to have a better broadband connection, or China President saying they'll change their commercial rules according to the internet citizen poll about it.
That may be in the far future but it will happen eventually.
Then, now, imagine what will happen in those dark times if the prime minister of UK has an above-average knowledge of internet culture and says what every geeks don't want him to say.
Imagine him in Hyde Park, on a giant pedestal, shouting "The Game is up."
Imagine how fucked we will be.

BTW, yeah, you just lost it. Again.

I'm not in the list Unthinkingbit posted earlier whereas I wrote 1095 words.
I should be in it, or am I misunderstanding something?

What in the world is BTE? Care to explain?

Maria.

Trolling officially confirmed.  Cheesy
He'll say his account has been haxx0r'd
4297  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Feel like defending BFL now? on: May 14, 2013, 03:06:33 PM
It's not like there's a top bitcoin pool in Kansas City or anything... oh wait...
Dhenson: consummate idiot.
Feel like defending your intelligence now?

I'm sorry, but the coincidence is just too great to ignore.  Of all the 30,000+ cities in the United States, the largest concentration of U.S. hashing is situated in your backyard and yet we are to believe that you aren't involved?  Really?

You didn't even bother to deny it, you simply jumped straight to the personal attack.  This is a well known tactic used by companies all over the world to discourage dissent in online forums.  You sir do, it well.

It simply isn't possible for Josh to spout off like this and keep his job if he didn't have the consent of his boss(es).  Why would the company support this flagrant behavior if not to discourage dissent whilst continuing to ram the proverbial hashing rod deep within our collective rectum?

Holy crap, the amount of fail in this post is borderline epic.

Why would I try to convince anyone that I'm not involved with that node? (It's actually a set of nodes)  Are you serious?

Do. You. Deny. It?

4300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The end of Alt-Coins on: May 14, 2013, 02:51:38 PM
I'll keep this short and sweet. There are now so many alt-coins that it has become the same thing as hyperinflation. The value of alt-coins is trending towards zero. Great job guys!  Grin

I still intend to launch ThirdCoin, around 2016-11-11T03:57:33Z (estimated time of the next Bitcoin halving).  Thirdcoin will have a testnet, which I should probably launch earlier.

When I see the improvements from FirstCoin to SecondCoin. I literally can't wait for ThirdCoin.
