Why do you persist in calling your actions a "mistake"?
...

...
An account with a history of several years does not deserve to be treated as a criminal, due to one not an important error.

You still don't get it, do you? Both @Foxpup and I have told you several times that plagiarism is, indeed, a serious offense. The fact you were permabanned for it should convince you of that, but no, you keep claiming this was a minor mistake and you just "forgot" to provide a source for the content you copied from someone else. If you posted something that was repeated a thousand times per hour on this site - e.g., "good project" or the like - then a temp-ban for 1-7 days would be appropriate, but not for copying an entire paragraph from an article published online...

Sorry, but you really did make a serious mistake, whether your moral standards (or lack thereof) feel otherwise.

442  Other / Meta / Re: How did you lost your bitcointalk account? on: July 02, 2018, 10:56:06 AM
I'm curious as to how so many people lost access to their account as well. This forum is unlike most others (really all others I've ever used) in that there is the potential for earning money simply by posting here, and the amount of money you can earn goes up with your seniority/rank. Hence there are powerful incentives to hack higher ranked accounts, and so one should treat this forum like an online bank or crypto exchange w/r/t passwords and security in general.

I imagine the most likely culprit are those shady mirror (phishing?) sites like bitcointalk . to and bitcointallk . org (modified so as to not trigger the phishing detector). I've clicked on links to both sites while searching for plagiarism and though I didn't go so far as to actually log in, I can easily imagine someone doing just that.

EDIT - fixed names of phishing sites; obviously, don't go to them and for the love of dog don't log in, either!

For some reason I was thinking that it came from India or somewhere else in Asia, but I can't really tell shitposting "styles" apart by region anyway.  It's like deducing the breed of a cat by eyeballing its litter box.

I just about choked on my coffee reading this, so, for nearly killing me you get a merit! )))

So I was just going to report to MODS but thought I would first share this gem. I think it's the best medical advice I've gotten in years... I think.

...
For a incorporated test, you can look at boosting all the airborne tibia. You decide, don't forget to store place tibia secured!
...

I hate it when all my tibia are boosting airborne...  Tongue

I haven't seen that style of spam-bot too often lately, but it was very popular a couple years ago. The wall of nonsensical text with a link to a shady product - usually a snake oil supplement or the like -  has to be the most useless marketing scheme ever devised... well, right next to paying illiterate people from "economically oppressed" countries to dash off one-line shitposts on this forum.
444  Other / Meta / Re: 8 activities - 148 merits - another nullius is rising! on: July 01, 2018, 10:16:16 PM
I'm not really into the whole, "let's nail people for merit abuse," thing, but this comes awfully close to changing my mind.
I gave up investigating the merit abusers, I am done, no more. However, this is something I could not resist to share in a fashion that I am not directly accusing. Grin

I am actually giving them the credit for such impossible achievements LOL

Ah, I thought you were playing this one straight... Well-played, sir... well-played!  Grin

445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO: DAG + Cryptonote + Bulletproofs + SSL + POW + Smart Contracts on: July 01, 2018, 10:11:24 PM
...
When earlier everything fell in price, this coin was growing upwards. Unfortunately now it is obvious that something is going wrong ... What happened? Why did people start selling their coins?

1) DERO abruptly decided to embrace ASICs after months of claiming it would do the opposite, alienating many long time supporters.

2) Some of most public-facing members of the DERO team - community manager --Serena-- and "unspecified role" team member Mojo - have attacked or banned anyone on the DERO Discord and Slack channels who questioned the above decision, much less argued against it. Granted, some of those people were getting tiresome and others were less-than-respectful, but I daresay that part of the job description for community manager is dealing with the angry and upset, and one should be especially sympathetic when there is a very valid reason for that anger (see reason 1).

3) The source code was supposed to be part of the Atlantis release, but it was delayed by "a few days" so that people with a masters or doctorate in cryptography could evaluate it for bugs/exploits; then it was delayed for a month or more so the DERO Foundation can be set up in Malta or Croatia or whatever.

4) Many Q2/18 goals - like the GUI wallet - were shifted to Q3/18, though to be fair, they did dramatically accelerate the development of Atlantis; then again, the reason for that was to fork off ASICs (see reason 1 again).

I've said it before and I'll say it again: good technology - even the best technology - won't save you if you alienate your supporters and flake out on most of your goals, promises and commitments.

Meet the genius: nessie.io
...

Did you actually look at the post that received all those merits (including one 50 point transaction)? It's basically an ANN thread.

I'm not really into the whole, "let's nail people for merit abuse," thing, but this comes awfully close to changing my mind.

447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INTENSE COIN - Blockchain backed decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: July 01, 2018, 01:37:03 PM
I hardly believe in high price for Intense coin (you say, like 1$), because VPN service just no need this kind of price.

With infinite max supply, it should be cheap and affordable; or else it s much more profitable buy usual VPN, like Nord
or Tunnel Bear, and pay 60$ a year.

A couple of huge differences are likely with the ITNS VPN vs. existing commercial services:

1. You have to trust the commercial services when they say they don't keep logs or that their security can keep out bad actors (ie - hackers, agents of oppressive governments, etc).

2. You generally have to pay for at least a month of service, even if you only need a VPN to protect yourself while using public wi-fi at a hotel, airport, etc., for a few hours or days.

448  Other / Meta / Re: "Sorry, you have been blocked". WTF is this? on: June 30, 2018, 05:54:02 PM
I just made a post to that thread and quoted @NotFuzzyWarm's entire post; no problems.

Unfortunately, it's a bit of a shitpost... please don't report to moderator!  Tongue

EDIT - Just saw theymos' last post which was made at the same time I wrote mine to the thread in question. If confirmed solved I'll delete my test post.

EDIT 2 - I deleted my post to that thread.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [1080 | 1080TI] ETHlargement - The Hashrate Hardener on: June 30, 2018, 12:42:14 PM
am I the only one using ethminer? its capable of 54Mh if your overclock is, what is the benefit of phoenix/claymore? don't they have dev fees? why pay that if you don't have to

I use ethminer.  Getting 41 MH/s on a 1080 +0/+850 @ 60% TDP.

I used ethminer 0.12.0 when I first started mining but it looked like it was abandoned so I switched to Claymore. Checking the ethminer github it seems new life has been breathed back into it. Which version are you using, 0.14.0 or one of the 0.15 release candidates?

450  Other / Meta / Re: Bunned ihnattm. on: June 30, 2018, 12:33:04 PM
...Thanks for the English lesson, now I finally realized what it means to be an American.

You broke a serious rule - plagiarism - and received a serious punishment - banning. That's hardly unique to America.

Just in case anyone has forgotten why ihnattm was "bunned", it's for straight up copying a paragraph of text from a CoinDesk article without providing any reference to said source, and he was nailed by LoyceV as reported here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.msg38383563#msg38383563

Plagiarism is not a minor mistake, ihnattm1; it is very serious one. The kind that gets you kicked out of university with no refunds, no credit for that class, etc. Playing the injured party here and feigning remorse just makes you even less deserving of a 2nd chance (even though no one banned for plagiarism gets a 2nd chance, anyway). And when someone accidentally unbanned everyone here for a couple of hours you wasted no time posting two more shitposts where you essentially ran content from other sites through google translate (well, at least you provided source links this time), so I daresay the forum won't really miss you.

Oh, and stop trying to claim the rest of us are just as guilty as you; that shit really annoys me. I've had two posts out of >1340 deleted for being off-topic, and both of those were for calling out a spammer for spamming (best to just report the post and not reply to it, in other words). No other rule violations, and I'm not even trying that hard (because it doesn't really require much effort to abide the rules here...).

451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50Ksol/s 620W, Innosilicon announces World Best Equihash Miner A9 ZMaster on: June 30, 2018, 11:24:28 AM
We got 3 pieces now, and they worked all well.

But now after transport&network change one won't work anymore, it is looping at "tunning".
Sometime later it just restart also.

Here are some logs:

Code:
...
Jan 28 15:58:18 InnoMiner kernel: nand: WARNING: pl35x-nand: the ECC used on your system is too weak compared to the one required by the NAND chip
Jan 28 15:58:18 InnoMiner kernel: Bad block table found at page 131008, version 0x01
Jan 28 15:58:18 InnoMiner kernel: Bad block table found at page 130944, version 0x01
...

I don't know the first thing about these miners, but these lines stuck out to me. Maybe check the startup logs from your working units to see if they report something similar.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [TRTL] TurtleCoin - Cowabunga Dudes! on: June 30, 2018, 11:16:27 AM
Hi, everybody.
Tradeogre.com is a company of thieves https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3105505.msg40228084#msg40228084
Be very careful !

Jeez, dude, you have been spamming the forum with this whiny post now for weeks... I've had nothing but good experiences depositing, trading and withdrawing on TradeOgre, and they are definitely a step up from Stocks.Exchange (though, to be fair, that ain't saying much). Based on your broken English and bad attitude I'm going to suggest you might want to look in the mirror for the source of your problems.

*  *  *

EDIT - just saw this other post:

I was wondering if there were any grammar/spelling Nazis on BCT and within hours I hit the jackpot. Anyways Whiskeyjack was taken so I took Whsikeyjack. You gotta problem with that?

Lol, feeling froggy, eh? Nah, I got no problem with what you call yourself, but you have to admit that the first impression one is likely to get from this is that you can't spell and couldn't be bothered to proofread your writing, both of which are prerequisites for language translation/writing services.

453  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: June 29, 2018, 05:16:51 PM
These are my favorites. And there is shitloads of them. Just one example reported recently:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2209326;sa=showPosts

...

Many grammar, wow bot.

Doge bot! I love it!  Grin

There is something almost soothing about doge bot posts, though. I might even miss them when the script gets updated/replaced.

454  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: June 29, 2018, 03:37:30 PM
I present to you a few examples of what I am now calling the Haiku bot:

I like the construction of this project. Witting logo, engaging design, seamless approach.

Hi, guys. I think it's a great project!
Believable activity, a rather interesting results!

This is a very interesting plan with opportunity!
Excellence activity, riveting project, noticing plan!

This type of post always gives me a chuckle, hence why I submitted some of them to this thread. Still need to be nuked, though.

...in 2017, there were 2.9 to 5.8 million unique users using a cryptocurrency wallet...
...
Edited : On the other hand you already spammed 3 posts while I was writing this, so I guess I'll just report you myself.

You have to be dead from the neck up to post plagiarized content in meta. I also reported him earlier after finding >8000 search results with the same statistically improbable phrase shown above.
456  Other / Meta / Re: Bunned ihnattm. on: June 29, 2018, 11:50:54 AM
For the fact that I wrote a post in a language that I did not know, and made a mistake, for the first time in 3 years, did not indicate the source of the news.

...

It's quite incredible you are still whining about being banned for plagiarism. I don't know how they do things in your country, but here in the US we learn at a very early age (12? 13?) that copying what someone else wrote without providing a reference to the original work - that is, plagiarism - is seriously wrong. It is so wrong, in fact, that if you get caught doing it at the university level you will be expelled from the school.

So, getting banned from an online forum seems like a relatively minor consequence for the same behavior.

It's really not that hard to follow the rules here, as it's always easier to not post at all rather than shitpost or, worse, plagiarize. If you have to make a certain number of posts to meet a bounty or sig campaign quota but you aren't a good writer and/or don't have any original thoughts then might I suggest that you are in the wrong line of work?
457  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: June 29, 2018, 10:04:53 AM
This thread is well on its way to megathread status, because there is an endless supply of material!

I'm going to make the hunt a bit more interesting by looking for shitposts from members that were grandfathered in at Hero/Legendary rank before the Meta Apocalypse. After all, it was these original shitposters telling all their "economically oppressed" buddies about how easy it is to make money on here that we have the deluge of shitposters today.

EDIT - my first submission from Legendary member @operabit (who has the default amount of 1000 merit, of course):

Zencash is always consistent in all forms of progress and development efforts, no one if it still exists to date and compete with other great altcoin.

The grammar in that sentence has more gyrations than the strippers down at Mons Venus...  Tongue
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: who here is mining turtlecoin? on: June 28, 2018, 06:14:45 PM
isn't turtlecoin kind of like Doge?  Just a coin for fun?

That's definitely the impression I get from the ANN thread and a few visits to their Discord. Kind of refreshing, actually.

459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Paytomat Announcement Thread on: June 28, 2018, 01:10:10 PM
Are you incentivizing people to spam other threads here? See, for example, this post:

Hey, guys! I've been studying the ICO market in depth and was wondering if you heard about Paytomat? It seems like a great idea!  By the way, it is said to be really trusted. Check them out and say what you think.

460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1080 vs GTX 1080 Ti on: June 28, 2018, 12:24:09 PM
This miningchamp newbie resurrected a thread last posted to 5 months ago, but I will nonetheless note that the ETHlargement pill has definitely breathed new life into the 1080. Mine went from about 540 H/s to 630 H/s on CryptoNight (still not a great use for the card, however) and from 21.4 MH/s to 30.3 MH/s on Ethash. The latter improvement is good enough it makes more sense to put the 1080 on Ethash rather than Equihash, especially now that ASICs have shown up for the latter algo.
