Welcome to my ignore spammer.

TRY READING THE FUCKING THREAD BEFORE POSTING YOUR TWATTER SHITLINKS.
462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 30, 2023, 03:19:58 AM
Can I make a request to start it either 2 hours before or 2 hours after of 7pm?

Check with Hhampuz and Nutildah, and see if they can adjust, I am going to guess not as they are both like 12 hours out from each other so that is where they can both make it.

So only force a change if you really have to.
463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 30, 2023, 12:31:43 AM
And about the hash lottery I think that until we can confirm the participation of everyone we should not go through it as there is still a free spot on the league, however if there are no objections I am willing to do the hash lottery but I want to propose a small change.

During the first hash lottery only 12 blocks were needed to determine the draft order, but the second time around it took morvillz7z 7 hours and 44 blocks for the spots to given, this was because we went from having two tickets each to only having one, so taking into account the increase on the number of participants it could take 100 blocks or more before all the spots are given, so in order to avoid this I propose the next.

Supposing that everyone confirms their participation and the tickets were given according to this order:

Hueristic - payment received
suchmoon - payment received
wheelz1200
nutildah - payment received
yahoo62278 - payment received
bbc.reporter - payment received
South Park - payment received
Hhampuz - payment received
ChiBitCTy - payment received
morvillz7z - payment received
DireWolfM14 - payment received
seek3r

Then these will be the tickets for the hash lottery:

0. Hueristic
1. suchmoon
2. wheelz1200
3. nutildah
4. yahoo62278
5. bbc.reporter
6. South Park
7. Hhampuz
8. ChiBitCTy
9. morvillz7z
A. DireWolfM14
B. seek3r
C. NA
D. NA
E. NA
F. NA

And assuming that block 805624 was selected as the block when the hash lottery will begin then these will be the results of the mock hash lottery:

805264      D   NA* This will be important later on as I will use it as an example.
805265      A   DireWolfM14
805266      D   NA
805267      0   Hueristic
805268      6   South Park
805269      8   ChiBitCTy

805270      A   NA** DireWolfM14 does not receive a second pick here obviously
805271      6   NA
805272      7   Hhampuz
805273      9   morvillz7z
805274      E   NA
805275      E   NA
805276      4   yahoo62278
805277      0   NA
805278      4   NA
805279      A   NA

805280      6   NA
805281      1   suchmoon

Now so far the mock hash lottery has progressed in the same way as on the previous years, so far 8th picks have been selected on 18 blocks, but from this moment on things will get harder and we could easily get to 100 blocks before the last draft positions are determined, but this is where I propose a change, I propose that from the 9th pick and up the tickets C, D, E and F are given to the players which have not received a draft position on ascending order.

So the tickets will go from this:

2. wheelz1200
3. nutildah
5. bbc.reporter
B. seek3r

To this:

2 and C. wheelz1200
3 and D. nutildah
5 and E. bbc.reporter
B and F. seek3r

Now does this means that nutildah as the owner of the D ticket can get the first pick of the draft? No, as this ticket did not belong to them at the time and it can only be used to determine the draft position of the 9th pick and up.

Now lets continue with our mock hash lottery.

805282      6   NA
805283      2   wheelz1200
805284      0   NA
805285      F   seek3r
805286      B   NA
805287      C   NA
805288      D   nutildah
805288      D   bbc.reporter***

***The last block determined the last two spots.

So the results of the mock draft will be as follows after 25 blocks:

01. DireWolfM14
02. Hueristic
03. South Park
04. ChiBitCTy
05. Hhampuz
06. morvillz7z
07. yahoo62278
08. suchmoon
09. wheelz1200
10. seek3r
11. nutildah
12. bbc.reporter

So with this little change despite having two more players we could get all the draft positions sorted with a little bit more than half of the blocks that it took to do the same last year.

I hope to listen to your opinions about this possible change.[/size]

This looks like its overly complicated when in order to keep it simple all we have to do is use a blocks hash as a seed in a randomizer.

OK, PMing everyone also announced in discord and will be emailed through league that Monday, September 4th, 7 p.m. EST will be Draft date unless they Veto it by Wed.

465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 29, 2023, 07:49:07 PM
7pm Monday was what we discussed in discord, if that works for everyone else?

EST???
466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 29, 2023, 07:44:50 PM
OK, I think we are going to have to put a timeframe on setting our draft time.

I'm sure most of us need to know at least a few days ahead of time when the draft will be so as to set our schedules not to conflict with other drafts and RL shit.

So I think I will have to give a cutoff time for discussion of Wed and have a last and FINAL vote on thurs if we don't have a consensus before then.

We are currently waiting on nutildah and Hhampuz to figure a out a timeframe they can both make and give that to us to verify we can all make that range.

*****************************************************************************************************************************
RULES CHANGES:
OK, I went back and reread all the posts and started applying peoples votes but found it became unwieldy as some of the discussions changed the questions and I didn't feel the people that voted should be locked in to their votes and rather than make a whole discussion over each change here are the current questions and everyone can vote again.

* denotes last years setting

1) South Park: Should we change the playoff format?
And let 6 teams to move to the playoffs with the top two teams getting a BYE or maybe expand it to 8 teams as some may not like not playing their teams on

the most important part of the season?

Playoff spots:

a)4 *

b)6

c)8

2)DireWolfM14:What do you guys think of having two payouts?  I was thinking the second place team gets double the entry fee, and winner takes the rest.

Payout places
a)1*

b)2*

c)3

d)MORE

*note 1st place was split last year as the death on the field cancelled a game with league players original was winner take all

3)morvillz7z: replace kicker with a flex spot

a) yes

b) no*

C) don't care/abstain

4) OK now on the waiver method, due to the choices being multifaceted it can become complicated to vote for one.

So I think what we can do is break it down and vote multiple times on the method to choose.

OK if that was not clear this is an example of what I am saying.

We will vote on whether to use reverse order or continuous rolling or a mix of the two (hybrid). If we choose reverse order then there are 2 different choices of that (I will explain that if that is our choice before the next vote) and if we do hybrid then obviously those 2 choices also come into play. So we will not need a second vote only if continuous rolling is chosen.

Now correct me if i'm wrong but I think 2 years ago we used reverse order and last year we used continuous rolling.

NOW a Hybrid just means that we can use both.

I will change the method depending on what we decide.

For instance my choice would be to use Reverse for the beginning of the league (like first 5 weeks) and then change to continuous rolling for the remainder of the league.

My argument for this is that if you draft horrible then the first 5 weeks you can get good waiver picks and make a decent team BUT after 5 weeks it will not hurt good teams that get injured players by pushing them down to the bottom of the waiver list every week which I believe is unfair.

So the current voting options are.

a)reverse order

b)continuous rolling

c)Hybrid *Yahoo removed this option by making waiver settings changeable only pre draft now

d) don't care/abstain

******************************************************************************************************************************

My votes:
1)a

I feel more than 4 teams in the playoffs will add to the luck factor as 6 would add 2 buys and 8 is just far to many.

2)c

I think 3 payouts would be decent  as I used to run pool tourneys for years and 3 is a good number when you have over 10 participants and a split of 70%, 20%, 10% is a fair distribution.

3)b

I really don't care to much on kickers but would like to point out that with 12 teams if we add another flex spot then the waiver wire will be brutal. Hmm, now that I think of it I think removing kickers all together would be a better choice then making it a flex spot. So I just changed my vote from abstain to no.

4) not sure atm will have to think on it.

I want to see this league stay fun so I will vote in any way that I think will go to that end therefore I will vote for the hybrid which should help poorly drafted teams in the beginning but keep the league competitive for the rest of the season.

******************************************************************************************************************************
ALSO a reminder dues must be paid.

And if I made any errors in this let me know guys, i'm getting dumber every year. Smiley
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 28, 2023, 04:16:23 AM
OK so nutildah can't make that time so I've asked him to see if he and Hhampuz can come up with a time and then we can see if that works for what looks like most of us can be available for.

@yahoo62278 Yeah, we have been using snake draft, I think everyone was happy with that last year.

@bbc.reporter Your number one overall of CMC draft was stellar last year, only you could dodge the consensus number one trap of Jonathan Taylor last year!

I'd like to see that list updated, I'd be interested to see how many I've fucked up on.
I have a notoriously fast ignore trigger so...

Also I think you should order that list (in the thread) by percentage rather than absolute which seems to me to be a much better metric as it can be incorrectly interpreted as displayed. Obviously those who distribute larger amounts will hit the scum more often then those that don't distribute at all.

Now if I wanted to start a witchunt, I'd start at those with the highest percentage.
Here's the update: How many banned users have you merited?
(click for the full version)
    1. 231 (8.66%) banned users merited by OgNasty (details)
    2. 125 (4.66%) banned users merited by JayJuanGee (details)
    3. 115 (5.33%) banned users merited by Ratimov (details)
    4. 112 (4.51%) banned users merited by DdmrDdmr (details)
    5. 108 (5.14%) banned users merited by hugeblack (details)
...

(click for the full version)
I don't think sorting by percentage is useful: thousands of users who sent only a few Merits have a 100% score to banned users.
Many users with a very high percentage have already been banned.

Disclaimer
banned users can still have good posts. Meriting them isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Of course it is, outliers are easily identified and culled from the dataset.

Looking at the data as a percentage rather than an absolute is a much better way to get an accurate picture of trends over a long period of time and the longer the trend line the more accurate that metric becomes.

The issue with sorting in absolute order is the fact that not all users are dealt an even amount of cards to begin with.

Also highlighting sources in that list would be meaningful as well.

If you look at that list one guy or girl was over 60% and is now banned.

and the next worst is at 12%

hell theymos is over 6% lets ban him he does not make the cut. please note that is a joke.

I am not on the list because I am slower with my merits and really take time to not give merits easily to a newbie.

Why is that because back in 2019 5 or more people I merited were banned so I decided to be very deliberate with merits to anyone under 400 merits.

I reall never give to a guy with 100 posts and 110 merits as I suspect them as a merit alt being feed by a few legends.

Thus I give a lot to heros and legends.

By absolute:

33. 38 (3.42%) banned users merited by philipma1957 (details)

132. 13 (2.68%) banned users merited by Hueristic (details)

By percentage:

2794. 3.42% (38) banned users merited by philipma1957 (details)
2965. 2.68% (13) banned users merited by Hueristic (details)

You can easily see how it looks way worse by absolute for those that disseminate large volumes.

Tongue

Funny I was surprised to see Noic was banned when checking my list.

I think I remember his account getting hacked but couldn't find out anything on that after a search.

Good guy really liked him.

I actually don't really follow the Wall Observer thread discussions but I still like to see some funny things and random chatter that even though some people might consider it spam, it is one of the entertainments that I always see because apart from memes or news that are just copied from some social media but I think it is still very worth discussing and seeing because some still provide clear sources where it was taken from.

Speaking of JayJuanGee he is one whose posts are very tiring for the eyes because of reading them but it's actually very useful and I learnt a lot from him with knowledge especially about bitcoin which is very good indeed. As for his involvement in giving merit too I think he knows that those he gives merit to are worthy especially I like the way he is consistent in giving 1 although sometimes 2 but very rarely to give 2 in one post which actually reflects consistency and he always reads seriously about what he does both on Wall Observer and in other threads.
Banning him I think is not authority because it will only limit someone's activities even though it is undeniable that there will be people who take advantage of it to farm but I think banning JayGuanGee is like limiting someone's actions on the forum.

Yeah baby, Ban the Heretic!

That shoudl work for me.  It's labor day weekend so we can draft on our phones right?  I don't normally play in the espn games but I'm pretty sure it's mobile ready.  I still have to pay and will get on it tonight.  This is always the hard part, rounding up people who are all open for an hour or 2 to draft.

just to say i'm available at any time...

by the way, what are we doing with the draft order, random at the start of the draft or something else? Last year it was hashes...

https://100yardrush.com/

^ pretty fun way to do it as well...

Haha, tested it out and Jacobs won! Smiley

I think using hashes is the best way to assure a fair order and its worked fine so far.

If it's Sunday the 3rd I could probably not do it after 3-4 PM EST. On Monday, and any day after that really, I'd be able to do it more or less at any time. I won't be home on Sept. 2-3 that's why it's a bit tricky.

OK, Lets see if anyone has an issue making it DRAFT DAY SEPT 3RD @ 3:00PM EST.

Speak up if this does not work for you,

I'll pm everyone to make sure they get notified.

September 3 may be difficult for me, depending on time. I'm guessing I'm the only European here so whenever there's a draft it'll midnight or later my time. But yeah, figure out a time and I can give a definite answer!

Whats the latest EST that you will be able to participate?

We will try to work around that.

Since it had to be set to a time it is currently set to 7pm est, the same as last year.

...I believe if we do some changes with merit distributions, it should be applied globally on the forum. Wall Observer should not be an exceptional place to apply special rule of merit distributions. Then other threads will need the same and it will lead to endless story.....

Nope, people say reddit is the front page of the internet but As far as I'm concerned the WO is.

I check that thread first and foremost before anything else including my voicemail on a daily if not hourly basis.

Much news gets correlated there hidden in the mess and disseminated for those able to discern its meaning.

If its news and it didn't hit the WO then its not news in my book.

I think The WO should have its own Ban power (within WO thread) and then we can just lose those twatter spammers permanently.

The Fact Twatter does not even allow the reading of a thread without signing in make that cesspool not worth the effort to click the link anymore so I'd love to see all links to it blocked ala imgur.

This seems relevant:
Aside from that, if people complain about whether things deserve merit at all, then that's something to perhaps think about, but if you conclude that they're wrong, then that's that. You don't need to stress about it or defend yourself constantly. It's conceivable that someday you and I will end up disagreeing too much about this stuff and I'll remove your source status, but it's really not a big deal.

The topsendban list is just a first indication of abuse, and many excellent people are on it. Your place on there acts as a sort of benchmark: eg. chandra12 has a similar score there, but whereas you are an extremely active merit-giver with a diverse selection of posts merited (most of which anyone would agree with), chandra12 only has two large merit sends. His behavior in comparison to yours while having a similar topsendban score is what creates a strong abuse impression.

I appreciate the work of you and other sources who take it seriously!

6 sats per byte?

That’s weird that it’s not confirmed yet. I very rarely use an ‘online wallet’ but I sent some bitcoin from an old blockchain.com wallet last week. I was complacent and also let the wallet decide the ‘best’ fee which was also 6 sats/byte and it confirmed in about 12 hours.

I remember in 2017 or 2018 I had to pay a mining pool to get a transaction confirmed. Shame ViaBTC free transaction accelerator is minimum 10 sat/byte now, it used to be 1 sat/byte.

I’ve just tried to accelerate your transaction on one of those free accelerators. Dunno if it will work but it supposedly rebroadcasts transactions.

Thanks man, no worries Its no rush.
