BTC is phasing into elite money status, and smart ALT exchanges will realize too dangerous to touch. LTC will likely fill the void first but long term the 'popular' currency stands to be Doge. BLK is top level POS, so well worth paying attention to where it goes from here. VNL has speed, and low inflation, it has potential to be a powerful tool. EMC is assuming the NAME coin project (block chain data) and looks legit. But too hot ATM. But may retain a top 10 ranking by years end. Still greatest sleeper act thus in year 2016. the days of large lumps of SMC on deposit with a 3rd party are limited.
so be careful with your risk. SMC is a low coin count scheme.
i'm writing off 50k to BigVern but i would advise to risk much less than that amount in future dealings.
SMC is very elegant in design and in algo of choice (mind you x11 is still antiASIC), pay mind to that.
So custodial keys are the keys to success, be prudent.

What has been the practical result of this investment so far? Any examples? "Any examples?" got none but the reality is the legacy systems will flip to some sort of inter banking crypto exchange, the option is if the 'consumer' depositors withdraw and switch to less centralized platforms ... like say SMC. But the window of opportunity is for a (small) bank to offer escrow and secure deposit (web wallets) services. Everyone else is a dinosaur. Projects like tØ, overstock, have the potential to gut most of the stock exchange depository (custodial) platforms. All overnight finance must and will flip to crypto in 2-3 years. And will not be overnight but 10min roll over cycles. The legal + legacy banker platforms can survive but most rotate to 30-60-90 day cycles and basically just back the crypto 24/7 ecosystem, and intermediate with the political regimes. ==== ps lost a few SMC to Cryptsy debacle, but all is fair given the emergency realtime nature of the situation. Coins that were still on deposit to help SMC act as a fair form of orderly withdraw via SMC, but still looks like 50k SMC at approximate fairmarket value are lost. I will offer 1000 SMC to anyone that can kickstart a basic data dump of any and all Cryptsy SMC related facts, like trade charts, and order book, and any other useful info tidbits. i cannot defend their action , but i will state that those who continue to try to handle bitcoin or other coins with 'old style money' solutions, like bankruptcy, lawsuits ect will always fail
the most important sentence of what cryptsy's post said is a solution may only come from the bitcoin community ====
had they posted this information as soon as they were aware with all details of how /when and exactly what code was run on thier system it would be a lot more likely to find out what happened when ....
again not defending allowing deposits to continue or such but people need to stop seeking old style solutions to problems created by the action of people mishandling others private keys ect.... which is how i see this a matter of trust.....
get used to the fact that you can sue someone in the US and get a judgment, they can file bankruptcy and if they were incorperated you won't get a f'ing dime

Based on taint analysis, here is a chart showing the historical balance of Cryptsy's hot wallet. This summarizes, by day, the deposits, withdrawals and balance of more than 390,000 addresses that could be tied to Cryptsy's hot wallet (raw data: http://pastebin.com/hMpuzHbt). Note that the taint analysis is still being refined at the moment, more addresses will likely be found.  |

How can I find myself in agreement with Gekko? Key point is the remaining chunk of Cry UNO is likely going to be in lock up for years. I would further state that the total supply of available UNO is thus greatly and soundly reduced. My only hope is that Cryptsy coins are turned over to a custodian(s) quickly before the lawyers debate. And the process follows standard USA bankruptcy laws. And yes the main goal for UNO community 2016 is make more progress in 'marketing'. There two parts: A. traditional advertising, promoting B. base pair trade promotion ... both can be done.
