I think there were others who got roped into this as well via other means. Such as Facebook, Twitter and more importantly via Google Ads.

I trust that all the others that were not a part of this forum are also receiving refunds ?

There was quite a bit more BTC totaled up in the two suspects wallets than what has been paid back.
482  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Announcing NEW 3TH/s and 5TH/s 20nm Bitcoin Miners on: January 29, 2014, 10:42:42 PM
For what it's worth, I'm glad the people who wanted their refunds got their coin back.  And I'm glad this community is willing to watch out for each other regarding scams.  One of these days, I hope it becomes apparent how much a negative community opinion is a self-fulling prophecy, even if the opinion is based on uncertain information.  It would also be nice if we had a more elegant way to approach these questionable situations.

In the end, CTSMiner is no more.  The only things lost were transactiosn fees, the time spend tro updating the thread, and the truth of whatever intentions were behind the endeavor.  Time to move on to better things.  I heard ASICMiner announced their next chip specs.

+1

That's better , you had me worried there for a sec.
483  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Announcing NEW 3TH/s and 5TH/s 20nm Bitcoin Miners on: January 29, 2014, 10:38:27 PM
The heat was so intense that that water cooling system of theirs could not handle it. They had no choice. A victory for the bitcoin community.
This is not a victory for the bitcoin community.  This is a complete and utter failure of this community, and a shining example of why bitcoin is handled with mistrust.  They advertised the best product on the market, and this community managed to twist the truth until everyone believed it was a scam.  Now we've lost their contribution to the scene, and made ourselves look like idiots to the governmental agencies that were contacted to chase them down.

Well done.

Well if you believe that watch out. The aliens are watching you and they are coming to attack us soon.
Do you honestly believe they refunded the bitcoin because some government agency was pounding on their door?  I would guess they refunded the bitcoin because the project was defunct, even if they had a successful product.  (shrug)  Doesn't matter now.

Seriously dude ?

There was no company, no project, no product, no contribution, it was a scam from start to finish.

The only one looking like an idiot right now is you with that statement. Sorry.
484  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: January 29, 2014, 10:17:34 PM
Anyone have success at going past 400Mhz?  Mine is totally happy at 400 with less than .003 HW which makes me wonder if I can pull more but I don't recall seeing anyone say they had done so for any length of time without HW issues.

I thought I read somewhere about the voltage regulators or something not really doing too well once you go above a certain Mhz. I could be way off base though, best to have a poke around the forum before you try just in case. Wink
485  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Announcing NEW 3TH/s and 5TH/s 20nm Bitcoin Miners on: January 29, 2014, 09:56:46 PM

I can confirm that I have received back the exact same amount that I sent to the CTS Miner address originally.

I must say this was a totally unexpected turn of events.

My thanks to everyone who helped in bringing about this result, in whatever way.

Regards.

Dave.

Great Dave. Out of everyone in this mess you were the only one I truly felt was victimized here.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

There seemed to be some web site issues as all miners on the site showed as offline a few times now.
487  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Announcing NEW 3TH/s and 5TH/s 20nm Bitcoin Miners on: January 29, 2014, 09:15:45 PM
All,

My name is Michael and CTS was a project I started which went seriously wrong very quickly.
The aim was to bring a mining product to market which unfortunately didn't work out at all.

I quickly closed CTS Miner, as it was beginning to be looked at as a scam.
I had four people who pre-ordered miners from me and three of these have now been refunded fully as per the refund policy I had posted on the website.
I am awaiting a reply from the last person and will refund them as soon as I hear from them.

I am posting this message here with sadness and total regret of even starting this and am very sorry I was unable to deliver.
It was a project that I took on that was just far too big for me to handle and yes, this forum tore it to shreds.

A huge lesson learnt from me and apologies again to everyone involved.
Michael

Just give them the BTC back and drop the bullshit stories. If was not for people keeping pressure on this thread you 'might' have gotten away with this.

Lastly, i can assure you with 10000000000000000000000000000000000% certainty that NOBODY had to convince the server admins to temporarily take down the site while the company did their due diligence. As a matter of fact, the hosting company said that unless they were delivered a court order signed by a judge, ICANN, or another federal agency, they would not take down any clients website no matter what the accusations as it is bad business for them. They obviously could not comment directly on the hosting account in question, but could assure me 100% ( as if i didnt know it already ) that if the website went down that it was because the owner took it down.

In the end, as a newbie to the forum here i learned a very valuable lesson. TRUST NO ONE. When what appears to be a veteran member of the forum goes to such lengths to rip off the rest of the forum. I am just thankful this lesson didnt cost me anything.
So yeah, we managed to get the domain hosting company in L.A.to pull the plug on CTSminer.
Now I'm going to go jump off the nearest bridge...
Thanks for your help guys.
I can confirm what Searing just stated... Maui deserves that credit of chatting with the domain hosters. Thing is, when they registered their domain, it had already been hosted on another I.P., which was the very same IP that the butterfliabs scam site used to copycat Butterfly Labs site a couple months ago. It was sheer luck the domain hosting company was available via live chat, and they wasted no time taking action.
51 btc hurt my pride bigtime, ..  no denying  that.

I'll leave it at that.

Here, here

Anyone who needs concrete proof only needs to call the hosting company and ask. We all know what the answer will be. I thought it was incredulous when the statements above were said.

No problem. I was just being realistic.

Good luck with the sale. Wink

Well seeing as a virtual reputation on a forum means about as much to me as nipples on a goat, let me be the one to finally call a 4 legged animal that barks and wags it tail when its excited a dog. Please feel free to go on your normal rant to all of you whom feel it necessary after reading this post and mod's or admin, please feel free to ban me after it as well if you feel it necessary.

First, i will not (at least publicly **Wink**) bring names or member names into the post. As a professional holding licenses and Certificates i am bound to a code of Ethics when doing the "H" word. for those of you in my field that will all make sense, for the rest dont bother please.

Do a little digging into the forum ( anyone with history knows SMF has a million vulnerabilities, we just choose not to exploit them) it was easy to find some IP addresses. Then after a VERY easy brute force into a cpanel admin panel to find the IP address off the last login to the cts websites cpanel. Then it took about 3 minutes to sort the IP addresses from the posters in this thread in an ascending manor to make it easy to search and find that in FACT 1 person posting in this thread is (again) in FACT the same person who started the scam. Then with a little more digging through the e-mail headers on the server logged POP3 mails stuck in hoarde, it was a very short path to finding that this person also had an accomplice in this scam on this thread.

Now, please feel free to trash my reputation for calling a dog a dog, but in doing so, please be sure to quote this post when you do because if i must be trashed, i will wear it as a badge of honor over calling things what they are.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY:

IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS USE ESCROW

Oh, and my apologies to all of you who were looking for help on tracking down the bitcoin that went to other machines, my family and i are in the process of moving 2,200 miles from our current home and are working on closing escrow on the house this week. If you need it still, please give me a few more days until things calm down in my day.

Observers post and explanation sounds like the most plausible one. It ties together quite a few loose ends and answers a few questions that have either gone unanswered or been answered with illogical responses.

'IF' is the key word.

The money spent on a pre-order of this vaporware would be better spent getting gear you can actually use now so you can make a ROI.
500  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling one of my Alpha-T 25,000 kh/s Viper ASIC Scrypt miner on: January 29, 2014, 06:56:33 AM
So basically you are only selling a pre-order concept. Your description means nothing really as none of that has even been proven yet because there is no Alpha-T card or even a prototype.

Also your figures are off.

Could the real reason be cold feet ?
