481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin really not for everyone? on: August 07, 2023, 09:37:37 AM
Bitcoin is for everyone who accepts it so if you accept it, Bitcoin is for you. In contrast, if you don't accept it, it is not for you.

So if you say or want Bitcoin is for everyone, it is unrealistic but use it or not, accept it or not, it is simply personal choice and Bitcoin developers only do their development works. The rest belongs to communit to learn, research, do their choices.

Bitcoin does not care that you like or dislike it, it is here to give everyone a choice to own their keys for their own banks. If you choose Bitcoin, are knowledgeable about basics, you will use non custodial wallets and own your wallet keys.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A advise to my friend about his decision on: August 06, 2023, 10:59:44 AM
And as you may be aware, a lot of people have already embraced bitcoin, but they are still unaware of this topic's existence. If such individuals join the forum at this time, will they already be novices both in terms of information and the forum itself?
If they can find this topic on this forum, they can find many online guides how to store and use bitcoin. Finding this topic is harder than finding those resources with Internet and those resources can be more useful that this topic.

Man, you are missing something here, so if you have family and you are a bitcoin investor, you can't tell any of your family members your private key and other necessary things they are supposed to know so that when you are no more, they will be able to get access to it. Nobody knows they are date of death. For if I'm a bitcoin investor, I'll find someone who I trust among my family members and give him my private information
Sure you should let someone knows about it. If it's me, I will let my children know that they will have inheritance in Bitcoin when I am healthy or I will let my wife or husband knows about it. The person should not be the lawyer. You want your children inherit your bitcoin but let the information to the lawyer, not your keys, not your coins and when you give the keys to lawyer, you are stupid.

I am discussing about general rules to keep your bitcoin safe and to give it to children but again, let me repeat, this story is very fiction. I agree with Lucius too.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A advise to my friend about his decision on: August 06, 2023, 09:04:27 AM
You are newbie and want to teach your friend. Are you knowledgeable enough to teach your friend?

I doubt any newbiew can teach about Bitcoin and when you are learning, you must be more careful with your words in conversation as if you make mistakes in knowledge, security advice, you don't help your friend but do something harmful.

If your friend inherites it from his father but wants to reject it, why should you engage in?

I am unsure how his dad can leave information about bitcoin private key, seed to your friend and how the lawyer engages in this case. It is risky to share private key in an inheritance document and leave it to a lawyer.

This story sounds fictious.

fiat provides users with flexibility and convenience

It is convenience and that rule of law which makes it so dominant but its all lost if you cant go to sleep and retain most of your value you had when you saved it there.   Savings that lose value are a horrible irony and waste of time when it really slips out of control.   There is point where every FIAT currency just has to give up, they cannot pay their debt and printing more is pointless.
They as governments have no limits, no governmental restrictions to prohibit themselves in printing more fiat currencies. Their fiat currencies can be printed more and more, no caps. Do they consider their printings as risk of their fiat currency value?

I believe they do know about that risk but they don't mind because if they don't print more money, their governmental operations will be halted and more political problems will occur in their societies. The wealth of their citizens and purchasing power of their national fiat currency are not what they care most.

In Venezuela or similar its a weight of 10 lbs of paper to buy  1 lb of meat and its probably become worse since I saw that video.   All countries do this and all the Federal reserve promises to do for example is maintain orderly markets, they give no promise to keep value retained only not let slip entirely the rope holding up the façade .
The Covid-19 pandemic and massive QEs in many nations came very suddenly but they gave us many red flags. The story of Venezuela is very old and hyper inflation in that nation started years ago, long time before the pandemic outbreak but I agree that it is a classic story about failure for fiat currency and central bank.
485  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Introducing: the bitcoin cycle calculator on: August 06, 2023, 03:16:13 AM
Pi Cycle Top indicator and the Fear and Greed index charts are very useful. If you search on Trading view, you will find Pi Cycle Bottom indicator too.

Compare bull markets and Cycle repeat are other useful charts.

After years in this volatile and unpredictable market, I focus more on fundamental charts with historic cycles and market psychological cycle. I don't use too many technical indicators and charts and avoid to make predictions which are all inaccurate and useless.

So should read books like this big list by @Ratimov here: Big Library of Bitcoin & Blockchain Books.
Trading is not what I recommend but if anyone want to trade and learn about trading.

Awesome crypto trading on Github is a good free resource to learn.

One of the best weapons in trading, the stop loss order.

I would like to a real life bitcoin movie about bitcoin and El Salvador. I don't just want a documentary or interview based film, I want a whole movies that has fiction and non-fiction embedded in it.
Documentary films are good because they respect facts and reflect it neutrally enough. It can be better than live videos from influencers on social media which don't neutrally reflect what happen in society. Influencers only make live videos on what they like or hate, they lack of neutral balance.

With documentary films, you will get some overview information around events in the film as well as some insightful remarks. It is helpful information but you must draw your own conclusion with information from documentary films.

Let's welcome Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City and Premier League.

The intro video from Manchester City is very cool. In fact Guardiola and Gvardiol have similar meaning in Spanish and Croatian language. Joseph and Josko are the same too.

Now Joseph Guardiola will be a coach of Josko Gvardiol, one of best talented central defenders in next many years. Joining Manchester City will help Gvardiol wining many titles and he is a second Croatian player join them in this summer, after Mateo Kovacic.

Jimmy Zhong is a user and hacker who exploited Silk Road and successfully got many bitcoin from it.

Eventually he was arrested but his story is very dramatic and you can watch the documentary video to understand more

489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency actually solve any problems? on: August 04, 2023, 03:20:18 PM
Money is the main problem for all of us including you, not anyone's problem. It sounds easy, but when it comes to practice, it's not as easy as you say. If making money from bitcoin is so easy, why do so many people struggle and lose money investing in bitcoin?
They lost money because they bought bitcoin but not invest in bitcoin. They bought it and used it for trading, gambling but not for investment. They wanted to invest but they FOMO buy and panic sell, loss is unavoidable by using capital like that.

Quote
My friend, bitcoin is just an investment like any other, it gives you opportunity and whether you can turn it into money or not is up to you. You can get rich from bitcoin but you can also lose everything if you don't invest in the right way.
They can lose money if they store their bitcoin in online acounts, exchange accounts and if they unfortunately have coins on scam exchanges.

They can lose money if they go self custody but did not backup wallet or use weak password and wallet is hacked.
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoin Does MicroStrategy Own In 2023? on: August 04, 2023, 12:45:30 PM
It is good for the network when institutional investors like MicroStrategy and Michael Saylor purchases a lot of BTC
The network only can be supported if people run more Bitcoin full nodes or more miners join the network and increase total hashrate of the network as well as config their mining rigs to different mining pools with thoughtful consideration on what pools to participate in. Because with more full nodes, the Bitcoin blockchain will be stored more decentralized and more nodes mean more decentralized validators of Bitcoin blocks. Choosing mining pools with intention to avoid very big pools will help to reduce risk of 51% attacks.

Quote
it can affect the price in a good way if they continue to buy, but i don't think MicroStrategy is giving BTC anymore exposure than it already had before they started buying BTC, and i don't think one should buy BTC because MicroStrategy or Michael Saylor bought, they should buy BTC because they have done their own research and believe that BTC is a good investment for them.
It is about risk of price impact when big institutional investors like MicroStrategy sell their bitcoins massively. However, if we talk about selling, we should also mention about their considerable impacts on price when they are buying massively in the past.

Is it fair if we only discuss about their selling impacts and skip or try to hide their past buyings which help Bitcoin to rise up a lot?
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC asked Coinbase to halt trading in everything except BITCOIN, CEO says on: August 04, 2023, 12:38:26 PM
The SEC won't succeed because there are powerful forces at play. It's not about Bitcoin, but rather crypto as a whole. There are a lot of investors with money placed on alternative blockchain networks. Crypto exchanges certainly won't give up without a good fight. I'd suggest Coinbase to team up with Binance just to take the SEC down.
SEC are fighting against a whole cryptocurrency industry so their chance to succeed is not too big. I am positive about strength of this industry to fight back so I believe that together we will win against SEC.

Coinbase, Binance are not the first and will not be the last centralized exchanges or cryptocurrency projects, companies are hunting by SEC. However they are very first entities to seriously fight back in history.

Quote
I know many altcoins are centralized, but there are a few hidden gems that are really worth our time and attention. I think the SEC doesn't understand the difference between a truly-decentralized cryptocurrency and a centralized one. If it did, it would've only classified centralized coins as securities. Congress did question Mr. Gensler a while back, so let's hope he is removed from office for the good of the crypto industry. Who knows if the US will reemerge as the leader of crypto/Blockchain in the future?
I agree that altcoins are very centralized but if decentralization or centralization is key for SEC to beat cryptocurrency projects, they did not succeed to use that weapon with Ripple $XRP.

If they can not win against Ripple that is a very classic centralized altcoin, they will not be able to win other big altcoin projects. Big altcoin projects like Ripple will have enough funds for lawsuits, lawyers and they will not easily to give up before a final whistle.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spending on Harlots/Hook Up Girls Instead of Investing in Bitcoin. on: August 04, 2023, 03:52:43 AM
The topic is so funny but deeply looking at it there is sense. There are some people in the society that want to invest in bitcoin and saying it to your hearing sometimes but they don't have money to invest, but you see those guys changing women every week like the way we change cloths in the week.
You love money, chase profit but they don't love such and they love women so they chase women. You can not ask them to have same love like you, it's impossible.

Quote
Why can't they used that money given to the women just to satisfy themselves for five minutes or one night stand to invest in Bitcoin so that anytime when bitcoin rise they can see profit from the money.
They do what they like and think is meaningful for their life. With them, like you described, women are their biggest love and their most demand for their life and happiness is women, sexual relationship. If they buy, invest in bitcoin and get profit, they will use profit to have more sexual partners like rich football star players.

Not your keys, not your coins!
My keys, my coins, my money, my decision on what I want to do with your money!11
My life, my decision, NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!
None of OP business.

Quote
So stick your morals and your arrogance where they belong and take a second to look in the mirror and ask yourself what's wrong with people like you who see can only see and think of how to make more money every second of their life while forgetting to actually live it
Those guys can do what they want and their moral principles can be different than OP's but it is none of OP business. It is business of those women and those guys and if there is no such business, how those women will earn money?

It’s not even about religion or anything. It’s mostly a waste of time and money, just like any other addiction. The same thing can be said about any addiction - drugs, alcohol, hookers, whatever it is. Spending money on it all is just a short term pleasure and nothing else, while others enjoy your money.
If in a business deal, both sides are happy after the deal completes, we should congratulate them. They are happy so why do we have to feel unhappy. It's not our business and not our happiness.

We should enjoy our life and don't waste our time to think of moral principles, business, happiness of others who are not related to us like family members, relatives. If they are only neighbors, strangers, let them be with their choices. If they are our family members, we can watch them and be ready if they need our advice but mostly it's none of our business too.
493  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore user confirmation before ignoring on: August 04, 2023, 03:46:19 AM
The ignore link is an url!  Wink
I knew and I meant about URL links exclude that one.

Quote
I've managed to do that by mistake on a tablet when doing the lazy scroll, one bad timing and it's a tap instead of hold and release, and if you're not really careful the guy gets ignored and you won't realize, especially if you have a long ignore list.
I made such mistake on my phone but later I realized it and corrected it. Because I did not click on URL profile of a user I am not familiar with and users I clicked on usually are prominent posters. I easily realized them later and if I saw they were ignored by me, I will Unignore them.

Quote
I don't have anyone on ignore so in my case I instantly know I made a mistake when I see an ignored user but users with a long list might not realize for a long time.
Mistakes on phones will not be enough to result in a very long list of Ignored users because I think the probability for mistake is 1% or lower.
494  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore user confirmation before ignoring on: August 03, 2023, 11:18:43 AM
This is common to me, I will just see an user that I did not ignore but ignored. I do not know why this is like that. Not frequent but I do see it very well.

Is any other user noticing this?

This is because no message to check a box or something like that after pressing on ignore which can be a mistake. Is there a place that I can go to to set this on my profile? I mean confirmation before ignoring an user.
Did you use your account on mobile regularly? It's more possible to mistakenly Ignore a user if you are on mobile than on laptop or computer.

The confirmation message for Ignore a user is not too necessary. It is very simple to click on UnIgnore and it is done. Because you know about users you don't want to Ignore, you can UnIgnore them manually and easily.

I have experienced it before. But most times it happens to me when I’m accessing the forum through mobile phone since you can just click on some url you never intended to click on.
You can not Ignore a user by clicking on URL links. You only can do it with your Ignore list by adding that username into your Ignore list or by clicking on Ignore. The former is no way to be done by mistake and you don't know about it. The latter can come from mistake when you are on mobile. If you want to click on the username to go to its profile and mistouch on Ignore.

The only option I could see in settings is a place to check out all the names included on your ignore list.
Ignore list will be edited manually with the Ignore Settings
Quote
This page allows you to choose which users' post to be hidden from you.
Ignorelist:
Add one Username on each line.
It will never be edited by mistake like with one touch.
495  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: risk of centralization of bitcoin. on: August 03, 2023, 11:12:13 AM
2. Encourage miner to keep up-to-date with Bitcoin news and prepare switch to different pool anytime in case certain mining pool doing something malicious.
Miners will have to check news and change their mining pools if their current mining pools have too high hashrate that potentially can do malicious thing like attacking the network.

They can read news to stay up to date with the network status but more professional entities like exchanges, mining pools will have and run their full nodes together with some special tools to detect malicious things and switch their ASICs and hashrate to keep the network as most decentralized as possible to prevent against network attacks.

Detection is key as after that, they can switch their ASICs very quickly and easily. Just connect their ASICs to other pools with simple configurations.
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Not Crypto, The SEC Confirms on: August 02, 2023, 02:03:28 PM
Recognizing the unique characteristic of Bitcoin is highly promising  development, as it could open the door for many EFTs applicants including BlackRock to gain approval from SEC. This approval has the potential to act as a catalyst, triggering significant buying activity  in Bitcoin market. It appears as prominent investors are waiting for this approval to take entry in market.
Bitcoin is Bitcoin, unique and you can talk about Bitcoin as simple as that.

Is it a commodity?
Is it a security?
Is it a whatever term will be called in future?

It is not big deal if we can use Bitcoin in whatever ways and use cases we want. Freedom to use it and freedom to call it, it is Bitcoin.

SEC. can submit legislation to change their policies and regulations so what they consider Bitcoin is today might be no longer valid and applicable in future.

But I have my strong belief that no one, no government, no agency will be able to completely ban and kill Bitcoin.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoin Does MicroStrategy Own In 2023? on: August 02, 2023, 01:51:55 PM
They are relentless buyers. Saylor has basically turned his company into the first Bitcoin spot ETF. As for how he’s using Bitcoin to enhance his business services and products… I don’t think he is yet. He’s using Bitcoin holdings to increase the value of his company and allow for creative financing to purchase more BTC, thus increasing the value of his company more.
MicroStrategy has profit from their operations and Michael Saylor decided to use his company return to buy and invest in Bitcoin. The investment capital will be lower or bigger if their company has more income, more profit or they receive more capital from their share holders.

I see that with their pioneer to invest in Bitcoin for institutional investors, their company will receive more new capital sources and they will become bigger.

Will their investment in Bitcoin amount become bigger or smaller than the avegare so far, I can not predict it as it will depend on capital they use to buy bitcoin and price of Bitcoin in future.
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoin Does MicroStrategy Own In 2023? on: August 02, 2023, 05:01:19 AM
The Bitcointreasuries.net website is useful of you want to check stats, documents of institutional investors including MicroStrategy.

The page for MicroStrategy with Stats over time, balance sheet history. If you need to cross check and get some more information about their investment rounds, details, Buybitcoinworldwide.com/treasuries can help you with their filing document and holdings chart & purchase history
499  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are memecoins tarnishing the image of crypto? on: August 02, 2023, 04:55:56 AM
Investors, especially whales, will always try to take the opportunity to be able to add to their assets by risking their money in small portions because they know that if it turns out that the chosen meme coin can be pumped it can provide big profits in a short time.
Big investors like whales have very big capital and they are enough experienced as well as have enough patience to make plans and gradually execute their plans. They can do it over many months without any problem such as FOMO like amateur traders and investors.

Because they have big capital, it's reasonable to split their capital to different parts that are bigger than small investors' capital. One more reason that forces whales to split their capital and do their plans over long time, is if they use all big capital in one day, it will affect the market price a lot. They don't want to make such big signal in trading volume and price break out and they would prefer to accumulate or take profit, distribute capital slowly and gradually.
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Borrow to Buy Bitcoin is Not Advisable.Consider the Factors Before Doing That. on: August 02, 2023, 03:09:40 AM
Borrow money has two big risks.

Paying loan interest and if you let the loan is active for too long, you will have to pay higher loan interest. If you have no idea when you have to exit the market even to save your capital, reduce loss, minimize loan interest, you should not borrow money to buy bitcoin.

What you do next after buying bitcoin is important too. Do you plan to hold it on exchange or in non custodial wallet.
Store your bitcoin on exchanges is risky and it is better to store it in non custodial wallet.

The bad way to use bitcoin you bought is to deposit it as a collaterall for Margin or Futures trading. Your bitcoin can be forced liquidated by exchange. Then you lose most of it and also have to find money from some other sources to pay loan interest.
