481  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Open API to request Bitcoin blockchain data? on: April 15, 2017, 03:11:13 PM
Well, the best of all solutions is to run your own node, in pruned mode, and query it using your own API in order to be secure.
Use bitcoinjs-lib to generate addresses and transactions, and pass them to bitcoind.
-...-

From security viewpoint, that is true. However, integrating an API is still the easier solution.

If you do not develop a critical system, using the already-suggested blockchain(dot)info API should be legit enough. It is fairly easy too.

I have a tutorial in my previous threads where I explain how to use these APIs with POST/GET requests and Ruby. That works with blockchain(dot)info too.

Or using PHP as @cloverme suggested:

Blockchain.info is the easiest, but anything free has its limits. So some API calls may be limited on number of times per day, etc. Also, there's downtime to contend with that you're not always notified about. My earlier projects used free API's but later I moved to my own nodes.

Code:
function getBalance($address) {
    return file_get_contents('https://blockchain.info/en/q/addressbalance/'. $address);
}
$balance_address =  getBalance('1A1zP1eP5QGefi2DMPTfTL5SLmv7DivfNa');

482  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Joinmarket - Coinjoin that people will actually use on: April 15, 2017, 02:40:00 PM
Are high transaction fees killing joinmarket volumes? Volumes seem to have dried up, at least in my experience.

Do we as a community have a preference for Bitcoin Core vs Bitcoin Unlimited? I know that it is a divisive topic, but can we configure Joinmarket to work with Bitcoin Unlimited as well?

If we can discuss "as well", the preference does not matter. What matters I think, there is a demand of both Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Unlimited.

So, if it is possible, Joinmarket should provide configuration for both. Do you agree?
483  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Real life Crypto Exchange on: April 15, 2017, 02:33:01 PM
The trust-threshold of face to face transactions is usually lower. People like to see the other people who manage their funds. The issue of crypto exchanging is trust. We often do not know (in real life) the Staff of exchange. We do not know who to make responsible. I think, there is a demand of exchange with actual people in it.

Now, the problem to overcome is, will it really worth? As @Yuuto mentioned. Like paying actual people to stand there for long hours, managing the physical security and providing continuity...

And then there is the question if we, crypto exchangers, would like to take our time to physically go there. Exchanging 24/7 in an online exchange is very comfortable.
484  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] BTC [W] PP | Check rates inside | Trusted members only | OPEN ORDERS on: April 14, 2017, 08:17:09 PM
I am interested in this. Can we increase it to $60? So, I will pay $60 first and then receive X BTC. What is X?

I am not sure how I can convert to PHP, but if you tell it to me I can do it. I have more than $60 so I can even take a small conversation fee.
485  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] $70 PP [W] BTC on: April 14, 2017, 08:06:05 PM
I can contribute to this goal with $60. We must use a trusted escrow. It means, I will exchange ($60 - escrow fee) with you.

Please, re-send your rates if you like this deal!
486  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a loan of 0.005 BTC on: April 09, 2017, 01:28:18 PM
I understand, the arguments that others say may sound avoidable, but they have serious base. Look, I have an ACTUAL STORY where I lend someone who also was all nice, even offered account...etc. and you can see how it ended. Now, that story turned out well for me, but that is thanks to the good members of our community, especially @teddy5145. So, when people say you have to provide a valid collateral has good reasons and they have good intention. Just try to get a collateral that stands up to the value you are asking for and anyone who lends you should take the collateral. It just serves our common good.

As for the offered accounts, I am not sure how they would worth the requested amount to someone who has no malicious intention.
487  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Bitwala.io on: April 09, 2017, 01:22:46 PM
If the crypto goes to exchange, you could directly upload to your exchange's address, exchange and withdraw. Otherway, it is wise to store your BTC in a not-online (HW, desktop, paper...etc.) wallet. If the case is different, never heard a serious argument against blockchain.info...

Otherwise, I suggest Coinbase...

What are Coinbase answers to the bundle of user-issue related issues (delays)?

488  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2017 Bitcoin Debit Card Reviews on: April 09, 2017, 01:15:19 PM
So helpful! Thank you for writing your feedback from them!

How are these debit cards used? You go to a crypto ATM, put in your card and withdraw cash ($/EURO...etc)?

Can you pay with it in shops that accept VISA/MasterCard (e.g.: MediaMarkt)?
489  Economy / Currency exchange / [H] $60 PP [W] BTC on: April 09, 2017, 01:10:48 PM
I have about $60 in PP. I am in travels so I will not log in to my PP account now to check exactly. Will do later.

I want to exchange them all into BTC.

Please write to me if you are willing to do an exchange in this price-category!

Also, if you are not interested this time, but have too much free time, you could write me who is your favorit exchanger who exchanges from PP to BTC.

Due to lack of time, I am sorry if I do not reply everyone back.

UPDATE: Figured out how much I have Tongue
490  Economy / Marketplace / Use HASH | NOT to get scammed on: April 09, 2017, 01:03:07 PM
First of all, I by no means guarantee this method prevents all malicious attempts. But if you ask for it, it decreases malicious chances.

I have experienced there are many digital products, e-books, online accounts and so on being sold here.

I hope, you know, you could always request the seller to:
- create a hash from the content of the e-book
- from the content he could access only with a premium account
and so on.

And you could always ask a trusted out-of-business person to do the same and then compare the two hash codes.

If they match, the seller most likely has the product (or know someone who has it Wink)

We are a crypto community, after all. If you are a seller, now you have an additional method to prove your business' fairness.
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Altcoin HW miners EU on: April 09, 2017, 12:50:47 PM
Who is your trusted HW miner vendor in the EU when it comes to altcoin mining?

Please, suggest in the following form: Vendor name - favorit product name - supported altcoins' names!

Do NOT post prices and offers as it is not a marketplace thread!

I am studying in the EU and I want to keep mining and I do not want to double-pay because of the high delivery fee to here.
492  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling - Facebook Group with 100k members (adult niche) on: April 09, 2017, 12:40:25 PM
Send me Group link in private message . actually i was looking for same requirements
also write how much btc you looking for this..

Thanks
 regards

As it seems to me, OP would like to put it on auction. OP wrote min. offer will be 1 BTC. BIN has been undisclosed yet.

@OP, if you really wish to put this offer up to an auction, I suggest checking out the Auction section in BCT. If you move your thread there, people will know it is an auction in progress and you could have a proper auction. You also can find a bundle of example there how to hold a successful auction in BCT.

My question related this offer is, if they have not been tested yet, how would we know your community would co-operate in monitization?

I mean, the size is nice and all, but I met with communities that SERIOUSLY were hurt when the owner started to post monitizing links and similar.

493  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cheapest way to get Ledger Nano S ? on: April 09, 2017, 12:28:59 PM
Although there are helpful people everywhere, there are malicious intentions too and often it is difficult foresee the malice in someone we do not know. In spite of how I love BCT community, I too would not trust in a wallet product ordered second-hand. Unfortunately, I have not ordered my Ledger Nano S yet due to similar reasons. So my only wish is you would post the option in public if you happened to find a way to resolve this question.
494  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Seeking a dev to build & maintain a Proof of Burn (PoB) token ~ LUCRATIVE TERMS on: April 09, 2017, 12:16:41 PM
I think, many are not sure if developing this project is a good idea. Are you sure there will be profit from this project? Probably, it would be wise to multi-check the concept and if you trust what you are doing, you could offer an exact price for the development. I by no means have time to develop this now, but usually I like to tinker such projects. If you had to sum the essence up in a few, short sentences, how you would write: How will this project make the world a better place? How will it be different than other projects in its area?
495  Bitcoin / Project Development / Mobile application or web application? on: April 09, 2017, 09:48:14 AM
Let us use a public blockchain's great advantage, which is availability!

Availability is not only one of the most important criterias of security, but also the comfort of being available from any device, anywhere. This idea goes well with the idea of mobile and web applications. We have this trend of increasing web/mobile applictions partly but mainly because we would like to access the application from anywhere with our actual device.

Since both technologies (from-browser-accessible web and Google Store-like mobile app) can use the availability of the public blockchain, which of them should we focus on?

Creating web applications that we can access from browser or creating mobile application that we can download from store?
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain and Secure by design on: April 08, 2017, 09:22:49 PM
Thank you for your answers! Basically, the most important lesson I learned from this discussion is, we should keep the term "Secure by design" simple. Simplicity helps order and order contributes to security. "Secure by design" may be a big decision, but with common terms it just means the principle that you have to consider security at the level of concept.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: April 08, 2017, 09:18:30 PM
I have included this very nice EmerCoin platform in my scientific research. I like the communication about EmerCoin. It is like, it has the solutions for the most important questions of the world that blockchain technologies in general have to stand up to if they would like expand.
498  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Private healthcare applications w/ blockchain on: April 08, 2017, 09:13:02 PM
As for me, i really want a compelete drug list and maybe an diabetes app where people can calculate how much insulin they need, would these possible with blockchain?

I am sure it is possible. In the meantime of my research, I learned that blockchain-type of DBs are very good choice when the purpose is verification. You could create deterministically a hash code from the drug's ID and look it up in the verified drugs' list. That is an use-case that goes well with blockchain technology. In addition, as it was mentioned, there are different blockchain based applications in use in healthcare, already. You do not have to trust any 3rd party and zero downtime is ensured by the global network.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: April 08, 2017, 08:52:47 PM
What about a GNT promo video rendered by Golem Network?
Technical this is possible already? Smiley
Would be cool imho! Cheesy

That is an awesome idea. I too am interested in the rendering abilities of the Golem Network. Furthermore, it would be good to see how it is integrated in the actual software. I mean a tutorial video from zero how to build a simple "Hello world" type of rendering with Golem Network. Or does that already exist?
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoine offline wallet and payment fee on: April 01, 2017, 07:46:59 PM
Bitcoin Core is an offline wallet where you can do this. It is widely used and has good official documentation.

But desktop wallets are not the only offline wallets. There are HW wallets too where you can execute transactions with higher fee.
