481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Dex exchanges are safe? on: August 06, 2019, 04:13:46 AM
I've been using dex exchanges like ddex, switcheo. They asked to connect wallet through metamask or trust wallet, I'm an android user so I'm using trust wallet to use these exchanges, i wanted to ask when we connect our wallet to a specific exchange is there any possibility to stole funds anyhow?

DEXs are safer than centralized exchanges. But there is still no 100% guarantee of course that your funds will not be exposed to possible hacks or stealing. But as compared to centralized exchanges wherein your funds are not really within your possession, DEXs are much better options. And using metamask or trust wallet is another additional security layer to your transactions. You are safer with that provided your private keys are safely stored somewhere far from anyone's access and that you check the website every time before you enter to avoid seemingly similar yet phishing sites.
482  Economy / Economics / Re: What are the benefits of bitcoin to my country (Nigeria) economy?. on: August 06, 2019, 03:42:16 AM
Please before you contribute to this thread, do understand Bitcoin and blockchain are two different things don't mistake the benefits of one to the other. Bitcoin needs a blockchain to function but the blockchain don't need bitcoin (no disrespect). Try to stay on topic so i can get some key points to strengthen my debate if there'll be a need for one in the near future as the awareness of the technology is increasing rapidly (yearly) in the country. Considering bitcoin is just another currency, what can it offer that my local currency can't to improve the economy of the nation? Already done some research and understood the benefits of blockchain to a country's economy but I'm yet to understand that of bitcoin. Enlighten me please.

In general, I have to say that Bitcoin is not here, and by design, to help any country to gain progress in their economy. Economy is to be improved by way of increasing domestic and national product. As to how, it would be the country's role and responsibility. Bitcoin is going to contribute to a country's citizens, however. In terms of remittance, of less or even zero tax transactions, of fast dealings, and so on. It would also help your country's people to counter the inflationary design of fiat currency. But if you think that Bitcoin will really uplift your country's situation, I doubt it.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the future HODL? on: August 06, 2019, 03:15:13 AM
The problem is that the big part of cryptoadopters are some kind of "investors", "traders", profit-hunters. It has nothing to do with BITCOIN.

You are particularly wrong on this. The general way of looking at cryptocurrency is that it is synonymous with Bitcoin. And if you throw your support to cryptocurrency, you are in effect throwing your support to Bitcoin more than anything else. If you have been doing some rounds here reading threads, you will feel that that the overall emotion is that they are building up their portfolio with Bitcoin having more than 50% dominance.

With this, the future of HODL is not only bright; it is getting stronger and stronger. The demand of Bitcoin is getting high and hard. Scarcity is growing every minute of the day.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is There A point To still Hold Litecoin As An Investment? on: August 06, 2019, 02:45:25 AM
Being logical, Litecoin is a project left behind by it's developer. It has no future as there is no leadership to give it a direction.
But considering speculation, litecoin is the best performing coin for investors in 2018 and 2019. It could still be a good investment for the rest of 2019.

Litecoin is a typical example of an altcoin. The only advantage for LTC is that it was created way back in 2011 and the promoters gave it a lot of publicity and hype back then. Until the creation of Ethereum in 2015, Litecoin was considered as the no.2 cryptocurrency both in terms of acceptability and market capitalization. But as you said, there is nothing unique about this project. It is just a plain copycat of Bitcoin and the promoters created it hoping that they'll also get rich by exploiting the popularity of Bitcoin.

Although it has no technical advantages over Bitcoin, over the years Litecoin has managed to build a loyal and large user community for itself. And this large user base is the only reason why the coin hasn't gone down as some of the other alts during the last 2-3 months. But the basics remain weak, and eventually I expect Litecoin to die slowly and get replaced by technologically advanced coins.

If you are to talk about technical advantages, isn't it that there are a handful of altcoins that can surpass Bitcoin on this? In terms of speed, fees, practicality in use, scalability, etc some altcoins are much better than Bitcoin. But look at where Bitcoin is. It is dominating in the market because of the community of loyal supporters. I can see this in Litecoin as well. The coin is one of the oldest and most used in real life. There is no reason why it will weaken as crypto adoption is growing fast.

Litecoin remains to me one of the most profitable altcoins.
485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Research reveals that U.S Dollars have been used to launder money than Bitcoin on: August 04, 2019, 01:38:14 AM
Of course, the most notorious of money launderers who do the dirty job of making illegally acquired wealth appear clean use the number one currency of the world, the US Dollar. The big time global drug lords, the terrorists, and government plunderers are using the US Dollar as well. And then they store their wealth in banks. The banks do not care where the money really comes from for as long as it is an addition to their deposits and they are given a valid front to make everything clean. There is no problem with them.

487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cosmos it is a Ethereum-killer? on: August 03, 2019, 02:19:19 AM
Do you believe ATOM can become a top 3 coin?
I think that this coin can become the top3 ecosystem in the  cryptocurrencyк world. Do you think this is possible? Now there are very few competitors for ATOM?I think that's alt it is the best  ever.
ATOM to the top!

This is funny as this is absurd! If you want that people here will take your idea seriously, do it with sense. Do not just write words that have no meaning at all. Otherwise, you only look as a desperate shill to most of us. I know Cosmos (ATOM) is rising, at least in terms of market cap, and it has earned the high spots. Now, give us the technology that makes Cosmos the Ethereum killer. Make an informed comparison that will open the eyes of many and get convinced that indeed Cosmos is going to kill Ethereum. The problem is that there have already been so many so-called Ethereum killers. Only to find out later on that they are the killer of themselves for not even releasing new and highly innovative products. Let us see in a year or two from now. Note that Ethereum has been up there for several years.

489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty Managers do not Determine the Legitimacy of a Cryptocurrency Project on: August 02, 2019, 02:49:23 AM
So, don't join a bounty or invest in a project because of the bounty manager. Do your research before investing your money or time on any project.

Absolutely! If you are joining a campaign that pays in Bitcoin, it does not matter for as long as the payment is escrowed by reputable escrow managers here. But if you are joining a campaign that pays you in altcoins, do not take the manager as the best indicator of legitimacy or success. If I know, many of the managers themselves do not do their share of research before accepting any project. They are contented to get honestly paid regardless of whether the project will be successful or not. A personal research is still the best way to determine whether a project is worth participating or not.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Red Trusted Managers Don't Accept Red Trusted Participants on: August 02, 2019, 02:16:02 AM
Isn't it unfair?

Most of the bounty managers has red trust but they never accept red trusted participants mostly on their signature campaign. If ico making this decision so why are they hiring a red trusted manager?

Everything falls on the developer teams themselves. At the end of the day, the decision will be theirs to make. If they give paramount importance to their brand, they should try to avoid managers with red trust and promoters with red trust as well. This is very basic here, at least on this forum.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin legal and illegal countries on: August 01, 2019, 03:53:23 AM
Countries such as Indonesia and Nigeria hasn't taken a hostile stance towards Bitcoin (unlike the case with China and India). They are likely to wait for sometime before finalizing the strategy. I am not very excited about the future prospects of Bitcoin in third world nations, because most of these governments are not going to be comfortable with a decentralized quasi-anonymous currency.

Many countries in this list are in the same (neutral) position. technically not illegal, but still not embraced, or adopted. I can tell you the people from the central bank of one of the countries mentioned in the "legal" list don't like Bitcoin. That country is actually neutral, but they have an exchange "control" that you could technically violate using bitcoin (and several people do that). Unattended, this could lead to illegalization due to politicians being ignorant and fearful that their pretty "controls" are getting ruined (people out there that condemn the free market) by evil Bitcoin.

And my country isn't even listed which is even more hilarious, but lets ignore mine, satoshis are now worth more than our fiat anyway.

Your post was very interesting and then I checked and found out that you are from Venezuela.

What you are saying is correct. The national currency has got so much devalued, that it is now worth less than Satoshi. I am not very familiar with the legal status of cryptocurrency in Venezuela. I don't think that they have banned it in anyway. However I heard that they wanted to create their own crypto, named "Petro". So similar to many other countries, the legal status can be defined as grey (undefined). They haven't jailed anyone for using Bitcoin yet. So be cool and continue to use Bitcoin.

I think Petro has already been used by Venezuela in more than a year. This was their response to a spiraling value of their Bolivar, which they highly think as a result of subtle interference by western countries, particularly the United States. Right now, with a very high inflation and Bolivar almost left valueless, the rise of Bitcoin is apparent. Venezuela should be listed together with countries where Bitcoin is considered legal.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett's obsession with physical things, gets in his way to see the gem on: August 01, 2019, 03:21:06 AM
I think it is not Warren Buffet's problem anymore. Leave the man alone. To each his way of investment. The man is full of wisdom, we all know that. He has turned himself from a mole hill into an enormous mountain. We all have our own preference in terms of investment. It is unfortunate on our side that a well respected man in terms of finances is not on our side. As for him, I guess he is not bothered at all that he is not joining us.
493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Croatian post office now offer crypto exchange on: July 31, 2019, 02:33:36 AM
Wow! This is one very nice news. And to think that this initiative come from a government office. I assume your post office is directly under the government. Here in my country, people can also exchange using the handful of Bitcoin ATMs scattered around. But these are private efforts. The government has not initiated such similar moves in your country. Croatia is definitely ahead of us.
494  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Libra Disrupt The Financial/Economic System? on: July 31, 2019, 01:55:16 AM
If Libra is launched and works according to its plan, it is going to be a strong disruptive force in the system. For sure, the millions and millions of followers of Facebook as well as its partners in the Libra Project such as Uber, Visa, eBay, Spotify, and so many others will also be supporting and using it. This is perhaps the greatest reason why the governments would do everything to stop Libra from launching or even developing.
495  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Replace Banks? on: July 30, 2019, 06:36:32 AM
It is capable of executing millions of transactions within seconds at a lower transaction cost and requires no centralized authorization.

You are a little advanced, mate. I don't think there is an existing blockchain that can process millions of transactions per second as of now. The highest are on the thousands only.

Quote
With the blockchain trend going on as strong as the moment, is it possible that blockchain will replace banks any time soon in the future?

The two may not be completely opposite to each other. There are already banks that use blockchain in their services. In the same manner, that there are now crypto banks.
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India declines Bitcoin Legalization Again on: July 30, 2019, 05:36:36 AM
Sadly, the Indian authorities in whose hands fall the verdict as to legalize Bitcoin or not, has a limited knowledge on Bitcoin and of the potential advantages if the country legalizes it. They seem to have more of a negative view on Bitcoin rather than an objective one. With this, perhaps a change of personnel in some of the offices might be of great help. If not, efforts such as Pomp's attempt to get a connection to the highest offices and convince them himself through a healthy dialogue might help them guided into enlightenment.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With Bitcoin, a future is not clear on: July 30, 2019, 04:58:55 AM
After researching the news sources, I decided to pledge my land and houses worth $ 40000. I use it to buy 4 Bitcoin
I will rent a small apartment with my family
I'm happy now
I believe that the BTC will increase to $ 20k next year.

As much as I hate to hear people risking their family's shelter and bright future for a brighter one, I can only wish you luck. I know that Bitcoin is going to get back to $20,000. As to when, nobody knows exactly. But the possibilities are infinite. It could also go down to $3,000. If that happens, I hope you will continue to HODL because if not, you are not only giving up on your BTC, you are also giving up on your family.
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best place to find a GOOD team for new crypto? on: July 30, 2019, 04:22:15 AM
If someone had an idea for a coin with a purpose, where would be the best place to get help? If it's a good idea, that's just the beginning.  Getting it done before someone else does it would be nice.  That is assuming it hasn't been done.  Who can keep up these days?

Actually, you can open this up in this forum. It is best if you specify the particular expertise or responsibilities of each of the teammate you want to have. If you are really looking up for the services of these particular people, you might want to raise it on this section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0.

Or if you want to discuss more on the details of your potential project, get the ideas from other people, some sort of a brainstorming, you may start a thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=85.0.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: if anyone hacked your account then who is responsible??? on: July 30, 2019, 03:52:19 AM
It depends on the actual case. There are many possible reasons why a wallet is hacked. For example, it could be that the attack is really directed to coinbase, a large-scale one most probably. In which case, they are to blame. But if the hack is on your wallet alone, that means you are to blame. You might have clicked on something, or you might have saved your private keys somewhere unsafe and was compromised.
