481  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to change trading pairs on existing holdings? on: January 20, 2024, 09:26:05 PM
The only thing you can do is to find an exchange CEX or DEX listing those cryptos against BTC otherwise you will need to track the price of Bitcoin in USDT and to make the conversion by dividing the price of the cryptos in USDT by the price of Bitcoin (in USDT), that is to say by 42000 currently. And then if you want to sell some cryptos you will need to sell them for USDT and to buy BTCs with this amont immediatly.
482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just HODL on: January 20, 2024, 08:57:42 PM
As far as Bitcoin is concerned, I don't encourage trading, whether for beginners or professionals. If you have hit your maximum stash, then you can think of trading, but for the most part, it's just a hobby, so just hodl.

All these losses are because some people just panic at every little shift in expectations, whereas they know too well that they are gambling yet leverage with what they might not afford to lose.

Since we are still anticipating halving, the advice is to just hodl, which the supposed majority of us here already know or are doing already.
I don't understand, you advice people against trading but you recommend them to not sell their Bitcoin before the halving? What is it if not a swing trade? You can't predict the future dude, so don't say it's safe or less risky than trading to make such bet, because you don't know how the market will react in the coming months. And you shouldn't expect whales to sell their bags after everyone, they have to do it before if they want to find enough liquidity.

I don't know the pools seem unusually low for the cryptocurrencies bets : only 20mbtc for Bitcoin, 6mbtc for FUN and just 2mbtc for ETH currently, so I wonder if people will bet much this month and when they will do it because only 4 days remain now, the bets will close tuesday. But on the other hand few guys can upside-down the odds with only a rather small amount of money if they place bets of several mbtc.

The betting pools for BTC, ETH, and FUN price predictions are lower than usual, as these pools appeared on the site rather late this month. Nevertheless, the number of bets in the range of $37,5k to $40k has increased slightly over the last 24 hours. It seems that users are beginning to doubt that the BTC price will remain in the range of $40k to $45k until the end of this month.
Yes but they are very very low, it's not the first time cryptocurrencies bets open lately in the month but it's the first time I see pools so low 3 days before the end. I think people don't know they have opened or they are scared by the BTC ETF start and the sudden volatility it can trigger because it's rather unusual. Maybe there weren't promotional emails dealing with it either.

485  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Sportbet.one uses bogus excuse to confiscate $13,705 from me on: January 20, 2024, 07:57:18 PM
I am not a gambling expert, so I can't be sure if it's doable, but I keep wondering how do they know if someone using any app [or their mind] to do those allegation. Arbitrage betting, I can understand, they cross-check with other books and platforms. But card counting? They turn on someone's webcam and see if the player is frowning excessively or keep scribbling something, or perhaps get into the device's system and scan for any app running? I'm genuinely curious and would love if anyone can give me an educated guess.
They certainly count cards themselves, and if they see a player increasing his stake, or joining the game when probabilities are good for the players, and decreasing his stake or leaving the table when they are higher for the dealer, they can deduce he is counting cards. Online casinos use a large number of decks generally and only deal half of the shoe to prevent players getting a positive EV by counting though.

Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ?  If not, how much you think is sufficient to retire as Gambling winning ?
Unfortunately I think it's never enough for most people. If you are able to make money, or you think you're able to do it at least, why would you stop? You will always find people richer than you, you will always want things you can't afford. So I think most successful gamblers never stop until they make a mistake, be scammed/stolen or get an endless unlucky bad streak.

489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 19, 2024, 09:54:37 PM
I think that everyone (or at least majority) is aware of the fact that instead of her was a white actress dealing about some other non sensitive stuff, she would never get a leading actress nomination. Sure, we can talk about support category, but she simply doesn't have enough screen time to be considered as a leading role.

They are obviously aware of that in UK, therefore they didn't nominate her for BAFTAhtt while in the Hollywood they still feel guilty over what they did to native americans (and minorities in general) in the past and trying to feel better about themselves this way.
I don't know man, the topic is opened since september and you're the first one, since only 2days, saying she shouldn't be nominated in this category, and I haven't heard of such controversy anywhere else. She is nominated for the best Female Actor in a Leading Role by the Actors Guild for the SAG awards, she won a Golden Globes in a leading role category without any controversy  and bookmakers still seem to think she will get nominated for the Best actress Oscar.

490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Draw betting strategy on: January 19, 2024, 08:59:01 PM
1.analyze team statistics: This is something we all know but shouldn't be overlooked,..ensure you check the teams recent
Performance, and their defensive records. When two defensive teams play against each other the probability of a draw is always 85 percent
2.play it safe:. Betting on a draw can be a bit riskier, so it's best to stake a small amount or pick the draw no bet option which gives you
a refund.
3look for evenly matched teams: matches between teams with similar skill level or playing styles can increase
The chances of a draw, pay attention to teams that have a history of drawing against each other
N/B: anything can still happen
4.weather conditions : I need your opinions on this point cause I'm not 100 percent sure of it but this is from some of my observation
Do you think weather conditions affect gameplay and increase the likelihood of a draw?
5.Bet on specific leagues: some leagues are known for having a higher occurrence of draws . leagues like Montenegro, Romania, Morocco botola pro, Spain segunda, Iran pro league and few others.

I hope this will help someone
Remember to gamble responsible
Thanks for reading
I don't understand the point of betting on a Draw No Bet or Asian Handicap bet equivalent if you think the match will end in a draw. You will just get a refund if your main choice win, and you will have to bet on a team that you don't think will win to be able to get some winnings. If you think the winning outcome will be a draw, you should bet on draw or take a Double Chance bet at least. You can lower your stake if you think it's more risky than betting on one team and if you think you will likely lose more bets before winning one, in order to protect your bankroll. But taking draw no bets for such strategy is useless.

The market situation may change a lot in the remaining 4 days. If bears keep dumping the BTC price, the number of users who are placing bets on the range of $37.5k to $40k may become much higher than it is now. Personally, I will probably risk and place a small bet on this range on the last day if the bulls don't come back to the market by then (this is not advice).

492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 18, 2024, 10:57:37 PM

How would you feel if you had the opportunity to cashout this amount, and later loose all?

most times people always find it difficult to cashout their fund when they have the opportunity,  due to having that mindset that they want to go home with the Goody bag. by so doing Sometimes the game will end without them winning a dime. but loosing all to nothing. while some will cashout, and later the game will end well and they will start regretting why dey didn't wait to the final.
now my question this,

cashing out or waiting till the end of game which is more better?
You dont say in which currency it is unfortunately, but usually it's not a good idea to cash out as bookmakers offer payout way lower than what they worth actually. It's a good opportunity to make money for them as cashout payout can't be tracked by comparators. And I wouldn't be suprised if bookies personalize cashout offers according to the profile of each customer.

In other news, BAFTA nominations are out. Oppenheimer is the leader with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things that got 11 and Killers of the Flower Moon with 9. What's inteersting though is that Lily Gladstone didn't get nominated in Best Actress/Best Supporting Actress category.  Grin

Full list https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-68016520
Yes and a very interesting thing is that Sandra Hüller is nominated in both catogeries(leading actress and supporting one).
Bbc.reporter also didn't report it but Emma Stone won the Best actress award of the Critics Choice Awards while Lily Gladstone and Hüller were nominated in this category, so nothing is done for now!

Quote from: Rikafip
I just finished watching Killers of the flower moon and I have to say that I don't understand all the hype around it. It was way too long, it didn't make me care about any character in the movie and worst of all, I don't understand how in hell is Lily Gladstone favorite for Best Actress Oscar. Thinking of it, I don't even understand why should she be nominated in that category as it makes more sense that she gest nominated in Best Supporting Actress category.
~~
I just don't understand how can she even be considered in the "Best Actress in a Leading Role" category. Imho she doesn't have enough significance or screen time in the film and if anything, she should be nominated in Best Supporting Actress. If she indeed wins it, it will be the one of the least deserving wins (in that category) in the last 15-20 years.
~~
Haha I bet that you wouldn't mind. She is my personal favorite but I woulnd't mind Emma Stone winning either. As a matter of fact, anyone will do as long as its not Lily Gladstone.
I will just quote what you said in November because I agree with you, your personal taste is completely irrelevant here. Tongue
For example I think the exact opposite of you, I think it would be well deserved for the movie and for herself as well as the (two) standing ovation she got from the audience at the Golden Globes.

All that is completely irrelevant when it comes to personal opinion about a movie. Everything Everywhere All At Once won 7 Oscars last year while I coulnd't even finsih the movie and I probably won't give it another try.

496  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Stake playing fair? What about others? Where is the line of trust here? on: January 17, 2024, 10:55:06 PM
This video doesn't prove that Stake is a scam. That video is cut from Evolution Gaming's livestream and the dealer is not a cheater also. I was working there and can guarantee that everything is 100% fair. In the video you see that dealer had a hard time scanning the card. He was dealing cards quickly and he immediately didn't notice that the scanner didn't scan them and he accidentally dealt two cards. Then he called the service manager and the service manager told him to scan both cards. Then this dealer made a mistake and put cards wrongly. Believe me, absolutely every player would get a refund for that mistake and the dealer would get a violation for making that mistake. It doesn't stay unpunished. Also, keep in mind that Evolution works 24/7 and sometimes dealers have a hard time keeping awake and alive during night shifts.
Are you sure he called his management at least? For me he first didn't notice the 10 card hasn't been scanned, so he retried to scann again the last one (the 3) and after that he realized the previous card hasn't been scanned too. But instead of calling a manager in order to cancel the wrong scan and to throw the 3 out of the game or to cancel the round, he just exchanged the cards for unknown reasons while giving an edge to the house with a 20 instead of a 13.

498  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FortuneJack Provably fair games are NOT FAIR on: January 14, 2024, 07:56:05 PM
Hi Saint,

Yes it's SHA256. They just sent me the script through codepen. It is still not officially mentioned anywhere on the website and all the other games are still unverifiable and i haven't got scripts for any of the other games. I was also able to find a bug with Orbital's cyberdice with their server seed and got $150 reward for reporting it (Was hoping it to be a bit more to be honest), once i tried to withdraw it they wouldn't let me do it without going through KYC even though I asked tokash to make an exception because all i was doing was helping them fix a bug and not even gambling on their website. I was denied that and I decided not to go through the whole KYC process for $150. I was definitely Disappointed.
To be honest I don't play much there, because I've also been disappointed with their bonuses/promotions and their support unfortunately, the withdrawal threshold (while charging withdrawing fees) which has been even higher than currently IIRC is also not very welcoming. So I'm not surprising by what you are saying. Anyway thanks for this information about the SHA256 hash function, people will at least be able to check if the previous server seed matches with the hash seed given, even if I don't think they will add a checking method not anytime soon, sadly.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Land-based Casino Enjoyers are something else. on: January 14, 2024, 07:39:13 PM
I was scrolling on my social media feeds one day until a very close friend of mine showed me a meme vid. We usually send memes to each other as our little way of communicating which I think some of you guys will get, but this one not only cracked me up, it also kind of opened my eyes at how fucked up Brick-and-Mortar Casino Enjoyers could be if they tried.

GIRL SITS AT CASINO SLOT MACHINE CHAIR TO PEE

Watching this "meme vid" or whatever made me curious enough to dig into this little rabbit hole where I see casino gamblers, particularly those who play slot, go bonkers and I mean like literal mental while playing slots. I mean most of them are depicted to even claw at the screen as if it's going to do anything.

I gotta say man, I know gambling for some people is bad but when they say it's bad I didn't think it'd be this worse lol. Oh well, all the more reasons to avoid the land-casinos I guess.
It reminds me this topic from macson with the famous video already mentioned above of the guy shitting next to a slot machine lol https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5334684
Gambling games make people crazy because it deals with money especially their own, and to a reach a jackpot or a special stage/bonus at slots you need to spend hours on it usually. It's not clear if the flowing liquid comes from her bag or if she's discreetly peeing thanks to her dress yet but I guess it should happen sometimes into very large casinos of Vegas or Macao.
500  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Sweeping paper wallet on: January 14, 2024, 06:56:56 PM
You are right bro, I mean private keys of single addresses indeed. I agree with you it's a bad practice and it could be confusing for many people if they don't understand how it works. But on this wallet you can't import single adresses to existing wallets, you need to create a new one, so people are less likely to be confused and to think their wallet is backed by a seed. It's better to send/sweep funds to a HD wallet than to import addresses but when fees are high or when you have only a paper wallet like OP, you have no other choice sadly.
