504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need help with Escrow Research 0.75 Bounty Offered on: June 25, 2013, 03:05:28 AM
This is what I got for 0.25 bitcoins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=220412.msg2355726#msg2355726

i'm asking for about 2 hours worth of work at around $37.50 per hour. I don't expect a month long market report. Just a post that has more effort than a google search. If you happen to be a domain expert on escrow, then you could easily write something up addressing my questions in under an hour. My OP expressed annotations even before the update:

Quote
I'm trying to build an annotated list of all the escrow systems currently in use in the Bitcoin ecosystem and for digital commerce. Also a list of proposed new systems that have yet to be fully implemented.

Quote
To the already mentioned:

http://www.bitescrow.org/

you can add:

http://btcrow.com/
http://www.bitcoin-escrow.net/
http://thebitcoinescrow.com/

but I know nothing about these sites (the last one looks pretty shady.... stay away imho)

Former examples (now closed) were:

https://clearcoin.appspot.com/
http://thrucoin.com

Where the hell are they? You expect to be paid 50 dollars for a five minute google search? You also did not satisfy the bounty prior to my update. Seriously dude?

Also any new systems? There are none? Escrow despite its enormous application has no innovation whatsoever?

Quote
For the most complete list

Which implies I will wait for more than one contribution. You're clearly not comprehending what I'm asking for. I'm sorry you wasted your time making a list that will eventually be used to educate people in the Bitcoin community about escrow.

509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Need help with Escrow Research 1 btc Bounty Offered on: June 23, 2013, 05:49:21 PM
I'm trying to build an annotated list of all the escrow systems currently in use in the Bitcoin ecosystem and for digital commerce. Also a list of proposed new systems that have yet to be fully implemented. For the most complete list, I will pay 1 bitcoin.

Update:

As I am increasing the bounty again, let me create some criterion for what I want:

  • A list of each commonly used escrow service (no bitmit is not an escrow service; they are implementing one for their marketplace)
  • A annotation explaining how the service works
  • Links, if possible to find, of a security analysis of the escrow system
  • Pros and Cons of each system
  • Proposed new escrow systems that have yet to be implemented
  • Names of anyone in the community working on new escrow systems

For particularly helpful snippets, I'll pay 0.05 btc.

Those starting small businesses, especially in the United States, should assume that even if they do everything possible to obey the law they might get shut down anyway.

The obvious response is to organize your venture in such a way that you can operate regardless of the legality of what you're doing.

I'm also talking about merchants accepting Bitcoins for payment of goods and services. If the BTC Foundation is a money transmitter, then evidently anyone can be.

Whats the big effing deal? The notice says "MAY be involved..." Bitcoin foundation is clearly not a money transmitter. The notice requests a response, which I am sure the Bitcoin foundation will no doubt easily provide. Case closed. Nothing to see here.

What if a small business without access to counsel receives such a notice? This is government bullying and is a big deal.

It has to be a blanket action or else someone is smoking crack.

Will Mr Li or John help to clarify the state of the fake fund raising incident - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=181336.0 before going on to raise more money from the public?

I don't think Mr Li is a trustworthy person and have the right credential to carry out any IPO.

In my time knowing Mr. Li, I have found him to be one of the most trustworthy and passionate individuals I have ever met. His commitment to the Bitcoin community seems endless and he supports many small projects.  We are very lucky to have him here.

As for your assertion that he somehow lacks the skills to carry out an IPO, it is baseless and offensive. China isn't the most Bitcoin friendly environment, yet he publicly embraces it regardless of the personal risks. He has decades of business experience and a very committed network of associates to carry out a wide range of operations throughout all of China. Li is also my friend and I'll always support his efforts to bring Bitcoin to a society in desperate need of the economic freedom we take for granted.

The Bitcoin Education Project would like to interview several pool operators to learn more about the technology and challenges behind running a mining pool. If you have experience in this domain, then please email me at Charles.Hoskinson@gmail.com or post here.

Thanks,

I see, so we have to play along until the point at which you announce the secret VC that will grant someone money to develop an open source P2P bitcoin exchange.

You remind me a lot of another Josh from BFL....

#1) too many chefs in the kitchen.

I agree with some of the comments on here, we don't need any more 'leaders' to 'get developers'.  If you are one of these volunteer 'project managers', as it stands you are in very low demand, and the developers who can actually deliver on a system that people want are in high demand.  Some of these 'whitepapers' are just pointless regurgitation of fairly basic assumptions about these problems.  Please stop making distractions.  Creating a Github project does not put you in charge of things.

Blue, this is an aggregation of ideas and implementations surrounding a list of design criterion and challenges. I'm the one here with the money and also access to the developers so I'm really not worried about the leadership component. I want to see what the range of solutions are to the issues of a p2p exchange both legal and technological.
