Ummm....okay?

This may be true if we hit 1000 tomorrow.

It will not be true if we hit 1000 a few months from now.  Many people will have sold by then.  Many MORE people will have bought in by then.  Many people will have just started investing at 500, 600, 800, 999.

Don't mess around with that number, it's the substance that matters here.

The substance here is that the claim is the same we've always heard.  The answer to the claim is thus: it's a false claim.

It did indeed go back to normal, but now appears to have dropped again - further - to 235.  I must admit to being a bit scared.

Well, I gave up at one point, and contemplated suicide shortly after, but I'm glad I didn't follow it through, because the whole thing appears to have reverted to the mean.

You must be joking. Right? You're joking?

You are way off, Bitcoin can't be compared to some random stock. It's a New Paradigm!!!

I agree entirely, why only today the guy cleaning my shoes was talking about his Bitcoin investment going up in value.

I overheard a random guy in the grocery store talking about bitcoin yesterday, also the cashier at my CVS asked me what the hell all these new Moneygram orders to ZipZap were for Cheesy
lol! For the last 2 months I have been making cash deposits at Wal-Mart almost every other day. I know the whole staff on a first name basis. They think I am planning a trip to Sweden! lol!

That seems like a highly inefficient way to plan a trip Tongue
lol! I mean not to bash on wal-mart employees...but well yeah. The first time I went in I told the guy I was exchanging USD for Bitcoin. He said "what's Bitcoin"? I did my best to explain it... but he looked at me like I was an idiot and asked "Why would you do that?" So with out missing a beat I replied "I'm planning a trip to Sweden to drink beer with a bunch of beautiful Nordic babes and that's the currency they accept there." And thus my Moneygram cover story was born. lol!

I love it.

I hope you won't mind if I steal the cover story next time I need it.

The bid depth chart on blockchained look borked.  It's topped out at 16mil.  Anyone have another source?

508  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitinstiant will not return my call or my emails or live chat or my pms to charl on: April 09, 2013, 09:11:58 PM

thank you its a good read but my issue is that ya i can see that it might take an extra day or possibly till Monday..... i get it they want a day off. its Sunday and you want to just relax for once.  Grin but on Monday when you get back at work you see a message form someone who bought on sat and is still waiting on bitcoins......... shouldn't you call them back or at least shoot them an email saying that they will look into this problem. Shocked now its Tuesday after 5 and nothing still. so on to wednesday.  Cry

maybe to busy trying to be famous with his film crew to worry about some ones order Huh Huh

Have you tried PM'ing them on the board here?  I've never used bitinstant but I have seen them respond fairly quickly to posts around here.

yep yesterday i did. a pm to Charley, nothin so far.

thats why i thought i would make a thread about it, maybe it will get back to him???

Well, sounds like you tried everything.  That leaves only one last explanation....

The entire bitinstant team has been captured by terrorists.
509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 09, 2013, 09:04:19 PM

That's why it's called delusion.

Ah.  Currently 2% down.  Doubt that means much.  Probably some sort of glitch.  I'm buying this dip on the expectation that things should be back to normal very soon.

It did indeed go back to normal, but now appears to have dropped again - further - to 235.  I must admit to being a bit scared.

A 2% drop isn't considered a dip around here. You might start to feel a little nervous after a 10-20% drop, but even then it has typically recovered within a day or two, sometimes within a few hours

I was going to say the same thing, but then assumed he must be joking.  We've become so desensitized around here that a 10% drop after a rally is something to yawn about Cheesy

Price reached 289.99$...  on Virtex Canada Grin  That's simply crazy...

Have you ever met a Canadian that wasn't simply crazy in general? I haven't. Tongue
512  Economy / Speculation / Re: Need Help, Want to Buy More on: April 09, 2013, 08:34:58 PM
I have just received a ridiculous amount of money (ridiculous at least for me, probably not for the early adopters with 1000s of BTC) that I have been told to invest in BTC, several orders of magnitude larger than the amount I have invested in Bitcoin so far. I will receive the money on Wednesday, which probably means I could find a way to get it into Bitcoin by Friday.

I was pretty happy about it all, until today. What the heck should I do? What are the chances that Bitcoin will go down - at least to below $200 - for a little bit at least?

I know its hard to tell, but any advice you could give me would be helpful.

There's always a chance, but my instinct says right now is the lowest we will see for quite some time.

Lucky for all of us, all we have to do is not die and we'll be able to witness how this pans out.

Even if I am wrong and we really are at takeoff there is the first selloff phase coming up shortly.

I don't have experience with investing in new tech, but I would imagine these huge daily dumps could be seen as mini-selloffs.  Does anyone know if this pattern of someone dumping significant portions of "stock" on every price point or something like this happens with emerging markets elsewhere?
514  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 09, 2013, 08:07:23 PM
The market is so nice and calm right now, is it tea time? Grin

Makes me wonder if the hamster broke his running wheel at Gox.  Bitcoinity says last trade was 3mins ago.

EDIT: Never mind, hamster was just on a smoke break

My god? Have the bears begun to reason?! They're starting to wait until there is SOME depth instead of dumping all their coins with a 10 dollar slide!  Next thing you know they'll start to wear human clothes.

That doesn't sound like the bears we've come to know and love

You're right. Most likely a coincidence.

I'm sorry you typed all that.

The important thing is that we all now know that no one uses "websites" or "the Internet" anymore.
518  Economy / Speculation / Re: $236 - What BS - Selling OUT today! on: April 09, 2013, 07:36:10 PM
If you think it's time to realize your gains, do it. Don't look back.

But I'd suggest that you keep a small portion of your BTC. Doesn't matter how much - even a minicoin is enough, just as long as it's something. Just in case.

I'll be back in...but in double digit prices.  Not triple digit prices.  I figure $25-$50 is where there is true long term demand.

Delicious.
520  Economy / Speculation / Re: $236 - What BS - Selling OUT today! on: April 09, 2013, 07:25:58 PM
Yep, having enough liquidity for people with real wealth to use it is a horrible, horrible thing for Bitcoin.  It'll be the death of the currency, for sure.

This.  The price is actually in the process of catching up to BTCs potential.
