521  Economy / Economics / Map of the internet in 1973, or why Bitcoin will be worth $millions on: February 13, 2018, 04:41:08 PM

That is it, the internet in all it's glory, dated as old as 1973. In this historic document, you can see the entire network in a piece of paper.

Back then most people would have said it would never scale, the idea of everyone on the planet connected to the internet was absurd. Similarly, assorted scammers and short sighted morons claim Bitcoin will never scale (as they sell you some shitcoin claiming that is the one that will scale in order to steal your hard earned BTC from you).

Just put things into perspective. This is a long term race. Bitcoin protocol is TCP/IP, secondary layers like LN are HTTPS. We will scale and and we will be all over the world. Beware of scammers claiming otherwise, specially when they sell you some altcoin.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft supports Lightning Network, calls out shitcoins on: February 13, 2018, 04:03:02 PM
How is lightning network decentralized?

Because of the way channels are routed, it works similar to the Tor onion network. Read this:

http://bitcoinist.com/nick-szabo-bitcoin-censorship-resistance/

Of course, Roger Ver, Craig Wright and the rest of amateurs would know better than Nick Szabo, the guy that invented the precursor for Bitcoin.

523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Microsoft supports Lightning Network, calls out shitcoins on: February 13, 2018, 02:18:35 PM
Quote
Microsoft: "Some blockchain communities increased on-chain tx capacity (blocksize increases), this approach generally degrades the decentralized state & cannot reach the millions... we're collaborating on decentralized Layer 2 protocols that run atop 'BTC' blockchain to achieve global scale"

https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2018/02/12/decentralized-digital-identities-and-blockchain-the-future-as-we-see-it/

Looks like the boys over at Microsoft are getting their homework done and are getting up to date, and that is, to work on and support second layer scaling solutions. They have realized Roger Ver's scam is a dead end that will end up in datacenters validating all the data and therefore nobody with big pockets will park their wealth on there.

Soon you'll see Steam come back accepting Bitcoin payments again as they are figuring out right now how to implement a lightning channel.

Big things coming for Bitcoin in 2018, ignore the scammers, FUDsters and retarded volatility, we are taking over.

526  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC broke bottom of triangle. Deep crash ahead. on: February 01, 2018, 12:49:28 AM
The only thing that's broken is your credibility, and that was already the case back in 2015 my man. The current 'dip' is a perfectly normal market movement within the range it has been operating in for some time now. You can't provide any actual worthwhile arguments regarding the current dip, and for that reason you're making a clown of yourself. On top of that, you are only supposed to show up when we are falling below the most recent bottom, and as long as that isn't the case, you don't have anything to do here. Crawl back under your rock and have fun there in the dark!

I think kwukduck just posts for comedy value at this point. For what other purpose would he post' He knows that his perma-bear pose is now not taken seriously by anyone. Even if he was right, after so many times of being wrong, it doesn't count.

It's similar to Proudhon, they are legendary perma-bears that became laughing stocks as BTC went higher and higher for years while they claimed it was over since it was like $10.
527  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there any good news coming out these days? on: February 01, 2018, 12:26:08 AM
Most reports we're hearing these days are full of bad news. Is there anything good happening for BTC at the minute?

We had tons of great news.
Square opening Bitcoin selling to more users.
Robinhood going crypto.
Samsung entering the mining space in building ASICS.
Japanese Line going to build a crypto exchange.
Canada becoming a mining hub. South Korea announcing there will be no crypto trading ban.
Bittrex announced altcoin/usd pairings coming soon. No Tether anymore needed.
Lightning Network development speeding up and so much more.
The fundamentals are looking really great.
Forget about the mainstream media who publish lots of nonsense and fake news.

Im not sure about the Samsung news. Is Samsung going to really compete against Bitmain with their own ASIC gigs? it sounded to me like they will only design chips, or fund other mining projects, but will not design their own purchaseable full mining machines, they will sell chips to other companies I think... correct me if im wrong.

But yes, lightning network news and proof that it's real and working should be enough to make BTC go $100,000+. People selling are simply fucking insane and a bunch of clueless idiots that got into the space not knowing anything about it. They will be the same that FOMO back to it.
528  Economy / Speculation / Descending triangle or symmetric triangle? on: January 31, 2018, 11:55:31 PM

What do you use here?

Can we hold this and start recovering, or we have already descended below any hopes of staying above $10,000? So far it seems to be constantly flirting in and out of the $10,000 mark.

Can we sustain this and break out at $11,000 or we will dip further? Can we consolidate a double bottom with the other red candle of $9310 and keep going up?
529  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will be the bottom(for you)? on: January 31, 2018, 11:39:05 PM
it shouldn't have gone below $10k to begin with Smiley
it seems to me that for the past couple of weeks they have been spreading FUD with some good expertise and creating panic in the market and kept it consistent to decrease the bitcoin price for some reason.

looking back it was first the ban FUD, China and Korea. then the bitfinex subpoena came out which was actually a couple of weeks ago but the news was kept hidden until last 10 hours that it started filling the media

The bottom SHOULD have been $10,000, but the Tether news have made a lot of people lose their calmness and sell like idiots, this has broken the $10,000 psychological barrier and now we don't know where the bottom is, we can only guess that former resistance lines will be tested. I wouldn't bet it going lower than $7,000 because it wouldn't be pretty. But look at the bright side: we will have another chance to get more BTC.

Remember: They are making more fiat, but they are not making more USD. Choose wisely.
530  Economy / Speculation / Re: european soccer star to be paid salary partially with bitcoin on: January 31, 2018, 11:19:53 PM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/turkey-football-chairman-proud-to-hire-player-for-bitcoin-in-new-first

also a charity auction to meet the worlds greatest soccer player will be carried out through bitcoin!

That was nice and "unique" way of contract signing deal lol. Honestly no surprises here.

Since this thread was posted on Speculation section, then let's make a speculation question here after that move.

- Will others follow? On the side note, this month, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban noted on Twitter that next season fans would be able to purchase tickets with Bitcoin (I think for American Airlines Center only). It will be on 2018-2019 Season. If that will happened, there is a chance that other NBA homecourt will follow this,

- Will sports organizations will allow this kind of deal for long term? (as per article, the Turkish government suggested to citizens that use of cryptocurrency was “not suitable” for Muslims as the government could not exert sufficient control over its use.)

Im sure many others will follow. A lot of these football superstars are often advised by their accountants to move their wealth to tax havens to not pay massive taxes. As we have seen with the Football Leaks and Panama Papers etc, many got caught. Im sure the next step will be to move these massive amounts of money in Bitcoin.

Im just saying that this will happen, not that I agree with it. I think the super rich should pay taxes, because if they don't, we the wage slaves are the ones paying most of it which is a scam.
531  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's happening: U.S. Regulators Subpoena Crypto Exchange Bitfinex, Tether on: January 30, 2018, 07:25:30 PM
Wow, this is huge. If it turns out to be a fraud, then the crypto's will CRASH. If Bitfinex just bought the whole market up with fake coins ... wow...

Tether is overrated, the marketcap of bitcoin is mostly non Tether based. Who knows, Tether may be an inside job to create FUD on bitcoin and make it dump, ironically by creating what they do with fiat (fractional reserve) but within the crypto ecosystem with a token.

If it's just a simple scam, then the guys running Tether are going to get killed, it's not fun to lose a lot money for Bitcoin holders because of scammers. Karpeles lucked out, next time the next Karpeles will not.

Ehh... Tether Inc is Bitfinex (or actually iFinex Inc). If they go down, the market will go down for sure. Also, many exchanges uses/depends on USDT to trade alts (Binance, Bittrex, Kraken, etc.)

The sooner this scammers go to jail, the better for Bitcoin.

The AMOUNT of traded Bitcoin within Tether is very small. Actually, most ALTCOINS will suffer the most in the case of a Tethering/tether collapse, NOT Bitcoin.

This is once again FUD and if the price of Bitcoin dips it will be once again due the huge amount of morons holding Bitcoin, not because of any real fundamentals. It will be scared noobs reading Reddit and CNN, not because this poses any systemic risk to the market.

Well, the smart people will be able to once again, amass a lot of BTC if it goes cheap.

533  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC broke the triangle on: January 30, 2018, 06:53:08 PM
Here we go!! the $10,000 barrier is broken, complete fucktards panicselling, this sucks. There's still some hope that we will rebound from there, but chances are that we will go to $7,500 now, then go to $20,000+ in the following months.

Well, the positive side is with a lower price comes gaining more BTC faster which is the point. Fiat is dead anyway.
534  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC broke the triangle on: January 30, 2018, 02:13:18 AM
Indeed it did, but I wouldn't count out a dip even if we broke the triangle... don't underestimate the amount of easily triggered panic-seller ready to dump at the smallest sense of fear and doubt. Bitcoin has the highest amount of panic sellers on any asset I've ever seen. We need to get rid of them to have a more steady and robust growth.
535  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could drop 80% due to possible tether fraud, experts say on: January 30, 2018, 01:38:14 AM
"Experts" have been saying a lot of things, most of them incredibly stupid.

Have you forgotten already about what the "expert" Mark Williams said in 2013?

Quote
Williams, a former trader and bank examiner for the Federal Reserve, argues that in 2013 the 47 powers coordinated to push prices up. They counted on what economists call Greater Fools. Investors make money when someone is willing to pay a higher price for a security than you did -- Greater Fool Theory states that there is always someone willing to pay a higher price. But Williams sees the broader market wising up to Bitcoin’s limitations and taking back control in 2014.

Quote
As the currency-commodity-technology’s true character comes to light, however, at least one finance expert feels it is set to drop to as low as $10 by the middle of this year.

Of course, as we all know, it never happened.

The only reason Bitcoin could drop %80 is if the idiots believe these news, and unfortunately there are lot of idiots holding bitcoins which do not deserve to hold them, so if they sell and pass it on onto someone smarter that will not panic sell them it will be a good thing.

Tether is irrelevant and only a small amount of the bitcoin economy. Tether isn't backed by real dollars? dollars aren't backed by real money, it's all the same.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10k to 100k on: January 30, 2018, 12:23:02 AM
I would definitely buy POSW aka Poswallet. I have been supporting this project for a long time and it did hit $1 USD as I predicted, but due the massive BTC price, it has struggled to go against BTC as most alts, but it's going back up and I think it will hit an all time high against BTC, that is 20k+ sats:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/posw-coin/

It was stuck at 2000 for a while and now it's climbing back, I think we are going to all time highs, much higher than before, the team keeps working and TPoS is around the corner.
537  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price speculation on: January 30, 2018, 12:04:03 AM

If you take a look of the bitcoin price chart from the beginning, you can see that there we always some small drops in price. proportional to the price then. January 2016, the price went down for about 76% (from $979 to $229) so now if you look at the todays drop (from $17549 to $11204 as of right now) us only ~36% of price drop, meaning that this is two times smaller drop than it was two years ago. My prediction is that the price will be stable for a month or two ~$12k, then will start going up slowly.

This isn't anything new, people are just making a fuss about it because it wen't "for that much" but it's still a smaller drop that it was back then.

The linear chart can be very misleading. Logarithmic models are the most accurate so far. Just look at this one before the $20,000 peak:

When it was predicted and posted around, most people said it was crazy to think we would hit $10,000 in 2017, and we hit double of that, which means this chart is actually conservative, as it predicts $10,000 to be the floor in 2020. Im starting to fathom as realistic $1,000,000 by 2024 at this rate, and I don't think we'll see massive selloffs that will hit the bottom of that model (as in from $100,000 to $10,000 and $1,000,000 to $100,000)
538  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price speculation on: January 29, 2018, 12:58:53 AM
What are your price speculations guys?

short term, long term, quarterly, monthly ?

please share statistics if you got any.

thanks.

In monthly term, you can expect increasing Bitcoin price in the range of 12k-15k USD. You can read from news that Perth Mint (Australian Gold Refinery) announces that they plan to develop cryptocurrency, those are great news so you can expect that Bitcoin price will increase. I also read that Venezuela is planning to launch a national cryptocurrency ''Petro''.

The petro is an interesting idea which im following closely, but I really doubt it's execution is going to be worthwile. The point of cryptocurrencies is to decentralize and de-nationalize money. The petro just nationalizes and centralizes an asset which is (allegedly) backed by an underlying, in this case oil reserves.

I doubt this isn't going to end up in anything but more poverty, as Maduro isn't going to allow free-flow of capital.
539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Momentum Proves Weak OR Rising to 14,000$ on: January 29, 2018, 12:23:42 AM
It looks like we are going up. The triangle was broken to the upside so we should be going higher in the next few hours to consolidate the uptrend. Breaking $13,000 would be awesome, then next stop is $14,500 and finally $17,300 to $19,666 for the new all time high.

If my prediction was correct, tomorrow we will have the answer.
540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Momentum Proves Weak OR Rising to 14,000$ on: January 27, 2018, 06:50:53 PM
And here we go again. I don't know what the hell is going on but we just can't either break out or go below the $10,000 range. We saw a big dump from $11,641 to $10,261, this was an huge red candle, but it has jumped back to $11,000+ territory... I don't believe manipulation of this precision is possible, I think the market is just uncertain to go either way.

We should be see a capitulation of the ongoing triangular formation before January 29th, so Monday we should have a result, either a breakout or a dip to $7,500.
The problem with today is that there was a big hack in a Japanese exchange and hopefully so is the reason the market went down and they have lost millions of dollars and hopefully the news will scare every investor and there is a possibility that the price would go down further from this point, manipulation is possible by big investors.

The market doesn't seem to care. Im looking at bitstamp right now and there was a big bull run from $10,911 all the way up to $11,582, pretty much on a single hourly candle. This puts us again in a realistic breakout scenario, as long as we keep having these back and forts and make it to next week without breaking the $10,000 floor, we may go to the upside and finally consolidate the new bull run that will last weeks, all the way up to another all time high. The next 24 hours are crucial for the capitulation of the triangle formation. Right now it's looking like a perfect triangle and we are spending more time on the upper side so im confident we can make it and break it on the 29th.
