521  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to manage money? on: April 13, 2016, 02:20:38 PM
When I was still in university I preferred to eat take-away food that I brought home with me because I was too lazy to cook for myself and this eating habit is detrimental to your health and your wallet haha  Grin Now I cook my meals for the next week during the weekends so I can just get a plastic container with my lunch or breakfast with me to work and save money while eating healthy. You can save a lot of money by not buying lunch every day.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spendabit, Storj, Overstock and more. by Huobi on: April 13, 2016, 01:25:37 PM
I don't like Overstock the stuff they are selling is clearly overpriced and there are usually no bargains at all or at least I haven't seen any recently. The only good thing is that they offer very cheap shipping which could possibly offset the big mark-up they have on the products but still I can find cheaper deals on other online retailers. This is just my experience though and your mileage may vary.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Airbnb with Bitcoin on: April 13, 2016, 01:15:19 PM
Oh finally Airbnb and Uber are going to accept Bitcoin payments. This is great news now I will be able to rent a place and have a driver all paid for with Bitcoins. I would love it if Expedia would allow worldwide purchase of plane tickets with Bitcoins. This will make my travelling abroad so much easier and satisfying.
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You Can Now Spend BTC on Over 2.5 Million Things at Bitcoin.com on: April 13, 2016, 01:03:57 PM
So I did some searches for a couple of electronic devices I am interested in purchasing but unfortunately the search results were very limited and I couldn't even find some of them at all. Huge props for developing this Bitcoin search engine though and I hope the item variety will become greater with time. Well I will have to stick to my debit card for now.
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A warning to Bitcoin users believing this will take over payment systems on: April 13, 2016, 12:40:36 PM
Dude but AOL had great competition from other parties and AOL didn't manage to keep up with them. May I ask you whom are you comparing Bitcoin to? Because Bitcoin is in a league of its own, Bitcoin may be 'fine' as you say and not 'great' however does Bitcoin have competition right now? No. Don't bring up the alt coins because no one cares about them other than speculators.
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Are Just Too Stupid to Use Bitcoin Right Now on: April 13, 2016, 12:21:29 PM
Guys you have to entertain the idea that some people just don't have the need or the desire to use another payment method like Bitcoin even though Bitcoin's advantages are far surpassing other payment processors. There are wealthy people who are just happy with their platinum credit cards and don't care about low fees. Everyone I know who is into Bitcoin does it for the money. What if there are people who are already so well-off that they simply don't care?
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can we see bitcoin money transfer store in near future? on: April 12, 2016, 02:01:19 PM
I haven't yet seen stores that have the Bitcoin logo on their doors but it would make me very happy if I would be able to pay for stuff with Bitcoins in a bookstore or in a clothing shop etc. Even if big supermarket chains don't adopt Bitcoin as a payment method at least the smaller family-owned businesses could make a big difference for the Bitcoin users if they decide to accept Bitcoin.
528  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fasten your seatbelts: now it begins... on: April 12, 2016, 01:54:40 PM
Yeah people are testing the waters in anticipation of the halving and we will see some small pre-pumps if I can call them that in the coming weeks. I agree with you that speculators will be moving funds out of the alt coins back into Bitcoin under the radar now that they are finished milking the alt coin pumps and prepare for the Bitcoin pump. It will be a very interesting summer this year in Bitcoinland and we need to get ready before the real show begins  Wink
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overstock CEO so rich of Bitcoin takes medical leave of absence on: April 12, 2016, 10:35:48 AM
Well I wish him a speedy recovery. By the way I don't know why Overstock is so popular when last time I checked there for a new laptop I couldn't even find the model I was looking for and it was a newly launched model at that and the rest of the machines of that brand were all refurbished units with expensive price tags almost on par with new ones. What the heck?! Have you guys even bought something from Overstock? I think it's overpriced and badly itemized.
530  Economy / Economics / Re: Why have Bitcoin instead of cash? on: April 12, 2016, 10:25:12 AM
What's stopping people from using both Bitcoin and cash depending on the circumstances? I for one would like to use whichever is the most optimal for the task at hand. Say you need to travel abroad and decide not to bring cash with you and there people on Localbitcoins will try to rip you off by offering crazy rates for your coins, couldn't it be better to use cash instead? Or you need to send money abroad but don't want to pay more fees via a bank transfer then you will send Bitcoins.
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Method of gaining bitcoin from scratch on: April 12, 2016, 09:05:04 AM
You can check out the Services or the Goods sub forums if you can provide a service or have some old stuff for sale in exchange for Bitcoins. I think the quickest way to obtain some easy coins is to complete a task for someone on the forum or you can check some of the micro-earning websites that offer Bitcoin payments. If you do a Google search you will have some matches pop up so it's entirely up to you which way you want to follow good luck.
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfortip | Tip and earn Bitcoins on: April 12, 2016, 08:59:02 AM
Well what else do you expect to happen when you gave them the free Bitcoins? People's greed knows no boundaries and when they see free lunch it's like bees on a honeypot  Cheesy Perhaps you could add a minimum threshold on accounts that haven't deposited coins themselves so new users won't be able to abuse your giveaways.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Ethereum on: April 12, 2016, 08:50:01 AM
Ethereum is not better than Bitcoin it's just an altcoin that is on a long pump because people thought it could raise to fame when Bitcoin was in the slump and people loved the fact that it can be mined by easily accessible GPU's but now when the dump will start to take effect the price will plummet and a lot of people will be left holding the bag.
534  Other / Off-topic / Re: If i give you 10 BTC what will you do? on: April 12, 2016, 08:44:16 AM
If I were given 10 Bitcoins I would certainly invest them in something like starting a small business or getting a 3d printer and offering some new service to people in my area. I doubt I will just let the coins sit in a paper wallet for too long if there is no movement in the price of Bitcoin. After all it takes money to make more money.
535  Economy / Economics / Re: Loans too risky? on: April 11, 2016, 06:58:56 PM
Some individuals turn to the Internet to get loans because they don't have the intention to repay it back or don't have the courage to visit a bank and ask for a loan there maybe because they are unemployed or have a bad credit history. I have seen Hero members on this forum scam for a couple hundred bucks like out of the blue. Maybe they are in a dire financial situation or have some emergency but sometimes it begs the question is it worth to loan cash to strangers over the Internet?
536  Economy / Speculation / Re: Value of Bitcoin at end of 2016, beginning of 2017 ::: Predictions? on: April 11, 2016, 06:48:52 PM
I would guess it would double up or at least be 50% more than current prices so around $600-$700 at bare minimum. I think in 2017 we will see Bitcoin touching maybe the $1000 mark. I hope it's not just wishful thinking though  Wink But if we take into consideration the mechanics of supply and demand the price should be rising not going down.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to teach someone about Bitcoin on: April 11, 2016, 05:41:53 PM
The best way of teaching friends how to use Bitcoin is to sit down with them and show them the ropes.
There will always be questions that can't be answered if they were to learn everything by themselves so lending a hand could be better.
538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: April 11, 2016, 05:18:17 PM
Bitcoin doesn't have the potential to replace fiat it's impossible. Its ecosystem is too vulnerable to drastic changes overnight and no one in their right mind would want this to be the main currency of their country. Let Bitcoin be a great investment vehicle and buy your groceries with banknotes in the local supermarket.
539  Other / Off-topic / Re: du you spend coins on real life. on: April 11, 2016, 05:08:16 PM
I am trying to save most of my coins if not all because I am holding for the long haul. It's turbulent times the price could skyrocket again and I don't want to miss out the 2nd time. I do nearly all of my online purchases with PayPal or debit card.
540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Know i know how a bitcoin looks like on: April 11, 2016, 05:03:45 PM
This site is really cool I am loving the design and the great idea kudos to the developer for the nice execution. By the way I am watching the balls right now and haven't seen a purple one at all lol. It's funny how the balls are rolling off the platform.
