If I had to guess, you'd earn approximately $0.01 USD worth of litecoin per year, as well as wear out your battery and processor a lot faster than with normal use.
522  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a "signed int"? on: December 05, 2011, 09:37:16 PM
A signed integer can be either negative or positive (- or +), such as 55 and -55.  An unsigned int can only be positive.  If you only need to deal with positive numbers, you should use unsigned ints because the maximum integer number the type can hold will be twice as much as a signed int.

Here are a couple more variations on the same theme:

I did some work on the shield idea you had.  Here is the result.  Let me know what you think.  Again, pretty much everything here can be adjusted if you want different colors/fonts, etc.

laws against filesharing,
Are you sure about that?

Yep, those addresses are very clever.

Thank you for the coins.

The shield idea is good. I will create a design or two based on that idea, as well as the afore mentioned modifications to my first idea to see what you think of them.

Hi btc_artist,

I really like the gist of the design, and you definitely deserve a few BTC for it.  I assume I should use the address in your signature?

Two things:
(1) While I know an "armory" would typically be "bigger", I really like the idea of having the building with less aspect-ratio, so that it will also fit nicely as a desktop/window icon.  Of course, that would probably break the symmetry of it, but I think the ability to iconify the non-text part of the logo is a huge benefit for my "brand."
(2)  It's really minor, but do you have any other ideas for font?   I actually like this one, but I'd also like a few others choices.

I will wait for a few other submissions before picking one (and thus sending anyone the bounty), since I still have some time before I finish my first release.
Thanks!
-Eto
The address in my signature is fine if/when you want to send a tip.

I will take a stab at making a square icon/logo based on the same armory/building idea. Hopefully something that could be used as a desktop/window icon and as a logo on the website.  I will also play with some other options for font and post some samples here.

As for program icons themselves, have you considered pulling icons from one of the free icons sets out there? For example:

I played around with this for awhile and generated three different variations on the idea I had.  I put the samples on different backgrounds (and transparent) so you could get a feel for what it might look like.  The shapes, colors, and font can all be adjusted.  I can also make the overall image larger or smaller, in fact, this is a scaled-down version of the original.

I also thought a favicon using the yellow/gold oval with the "BA" in it would look sharp as well.  Let me know what you think.

(Use Adobe Illustrator... do GREEN cut lines - RGB 00FF00 - must be red vectors 0.5 point to indicate cutting. Where to engrave, do RED #FF0000, this will just whiten the surface without cutting, and can be raster or vector objects)
I don't have Illustrator, but I do you a few other graphics programs. Can the laser machine understand any other file formats?  What are the specific requirements for a file to be used to engrave?
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to create bills on the cheap on: December 03, 2011, 08:15:54 PM
Here's an experiment to try. Print key codes on fiat currency and release it back into the wild. Wait and see how long it takes before the amount is redeemed. This may help spread awareness.

THat is actually freaking brilliant.  And you could take back the money if too much time went by.

A lot of people would need to be doing it for anyone to notice...there are a lot of pieces of paper out there.

And it would be somewhat difficult to print a unique code on each bill, for most people.
I think it is technically illegal to print or write on US currency, although it's probably not enforced very often.

This is a good idea, I'll have to try it.

etotheipi, I'm working on one idea I have.  I'll post it as soon as I have something, to see what you think.
535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to create bills on the cheap on: December 03, 2011, 04:51:07 AM
If you are worried about selling 1500-3000 bills.... I have already sold 1500 coins in like my first or second month, and have sold well over 3000 coins after having them out a total of not even three months.
I just thought I'd interject this for people's consideration.  Metal coins have a lot more allure to me personally than paper bills. There's just something that's more tangible or the illusion of lasting a long time or something.  That's just a personal thing.  Other people might be into paper bills.  Before learning about bitcoin, I was a numismatist, but I never got into collecting bills or stamps.  Perhaps if the bills were more ornate with many levels of art on them, I would be more interested.  Just a personal opinion.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Physical Litecoins on: December 03, 2011, 04:09:05 AM
I'd be more interested in small denomination coins, tbh.
537  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Coming Soon: The Casascius 1000 BTC FINE GOLD COIN on: December 02, 2011, 08:57:45 PM
Probably out of my price range at the moment, but this would be fun to buy.

Looks like you get to keep the coins goat. Congrats I suppose, although all along my point was that BFL were not fake as you wanted to bet $10,000 on, so I do feel I was closer to the truth than you Smiley
They're looking more and more legitimate, but I don't think anything has been established yet one way or the other.
539  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: iOS Bitcoin Client on: December 02, 2011, 05:59:51 AM
It would still be nice to have a native iOS client.

Sorry, but maybe you should've bought a "free phone", then.
I don't have an iPhone.  I made my statement for other reasons, mainly how to get more people to use bitcoin.
540  Economy / Marketplace / Re: The Casascius 10 BTC Silver Round is here! (PIC) on: December 02, 2011, 04:58:44 AM
To order without a gift box, just order, underpay by 2 BTC, and write in the notes NO GIFT BOX.
Ok, thanks!
