541  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Second best coin to mine? on: February 15, 2016, 07:28:52 PM
Hi everyone,

I was hoping to mine Bitcoin, but with the reward halving and the difficulty increasing, I am not sure it is worth it.

Could anyone recommend a second best digital currency to mine? Would an Antminer S7 work for it? If not, could you recommend what hard ware is best?

Thanks

V.

Decred and Vanillacoin are altcoins that are profitable to mine currently (depending on your electricity and hardware costs obv.).

Decred: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1290358.0 | https://forum.decred.org

Decred can be mined with GPUs and CPUs, I'm only mining with GPUs currently. Tools can be found on the ANN and help on the forum.

Vanillacoin
: http://vanillacoin.net | https://talk.vanillacoin.net

Vanillacoin can be mined with GPUs CPUs and FPGAs, but only GPU and FPGA mining is profitable. Tools can be found on the forum in the Tools, Tutorials & Projects section.

Both coins are being actively developed, are feature rich and are traded on more exchanges.

Pointless to argue with you, Karma is doing it's work.
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How about Vanilla coin on: February 15, 2016, 01:03:20 PM

Irrelevant bullshit from a 50 year old lunatic nerd.

No clone.

No premine.

Features with original code.

On proper exchanges, like Poloniex, with the lowest possible deposit time thanks to their code audit.

Project is over 1 year old.

You have only proven 1 thing with this quote, that your health status is hurting your capability to use your brain.

Good to see the 3 trolls repeating themselves with the same baseless accusations.  Market doesn't seem to care and every minute wasted from your lives is another smile on my face.

i have read wiki too dosent even mention the web wallet or how to use it ;\
i have my airdrop addy, 282 coins are on explorer but i can't import it ;\
web wallet won't take it get 4 different errors
no gui wallet
my cmd wallet just crashes
how many will actually claim their airdrop?
i can't believe what a mess this coin is with all they hype they did ;\
o and now were forked great

Dont you have the eternity to import those coins?
If you wanted to instadump maybe you should've try a bit harder to understand how the CLI works, or you have enough time to wait for a GUI wallet it is in works it will be ready soon
honestly i just wanted to be set up for the next few days, wallet set with no worries, my miners are on and waiting. im just dissapointed i think alot of us thought we were all good the last few weeks and we were handed a steaming pile of shit imo. for the year plus dev work wow theres...nothing? an explorer just now?

The coin launched an hour ago, you are obviously mad because you can't dump instantly and tell your friends that you earned 100$ on the internet.

Diff seems insane, hope the price follows this trend when DCR gets on higher volume exchanges like Polo.

any exchanges picking this up yet?

I wouldn't touch anything except Polo, but mb you can get cheaper coins after launch somewhere else.

However good Evan is I tend to think all the suspect looking stuff will come back to haunt Dash if it ever tries to go mainstream

I wouldn't worry about it ever trying. The game is mine the speculators with images of soda machines decorated with Photoshopped Dash logos and other polymath achievements.

Edit: note Evan has other programmers working with him, so I don't know if we can attribute all of Dash's development to Evan.

This ad has been brought to you by TPTB and his vapor project.

Who the hell is Bob Surplus.

A scammer who has conducted multiple pump and dump scams, the largest (afaik) being cheating BitBay investors and his own pump group out of 700 BTC by conspiring with an exchange (BTER) to pump the price using the ICO funds that were supposed to be frozen by the exchange until the coin is released. The deal was Bob and his partner Gekko were supposed to handle the marketing of the coin but they just took the BTC, dumped the BitBay coins, and ran.

Surprised he's still alive tbh.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113238/chat-logs-allegedly-show-bter-creating-and-pumping-its-own-coin

I am sure you remember that my unmoderated thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857457.0 crashed the Bitbay party. Bobsurplus admitted the scam as well as challenged David Zimbeck there. Since I know the the story quite well, let me point out an inaccuracy in your post.

To say that Bob was the scammer without mentioning David Zimbeck is a misinformation. Yes, Bob is a scammer (thought at least unlike others he admit that his business is P&D), but Bob wasn't the main figure behind that scam - it was David Zimbeck. Without the active input of David the Bitbay scam could never happen. Bob deployed the army of sockpuppets and shills to P&D the coin - which is a scam and that's what he does with all coins he is involved with - but not mentioning David Zimbeck is like you wouldn't mention Laurel in the analysis of the Laurel & Hardy act. On that note, it's actually hilarious as Laurel & Hardy was that many of us warn users, becuase the shit they sell is not a real projects, only a P&D that is suported by shills and sockpuppets, Bob admits himself that he is a P&D organiser, but idiots and wannabe rich greedy "investors" (most of the time with a no more than a high school lunch money size investment) still buy his shitcoins.

Anyway, I think Bob is already finished his operation.

This is how I remember it, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Zimbeck is still working on BitBay this day, Bob never did anything to help the project. Bob and the rest of the scam team hired Zimbeck to implement his smart contracts into the wallet (and that was supposed to be all he would do and be paid for), and started advertising the project using Zimbeck's name as the lead developer without his consent to give it more credibility.

Zimbeck's only fault imo was that he didn't quit and tell everyone after finding out Bob and his scam team were up to no good, but kept quiet instead hoping the project could deliver regardless.

After Bob left soon after the ICO and took all the project's money there were no funds left for development, and Zimbeck decided to stay and finish the project alone even though that wasn't his job, it should've been Bob's team's responsibility.

Wasn't it the chinese guy from Bter who hired both Bob and David? Bob offered him his "marketing" services while David was needed as a developer (he is probably well known within the chinese crypto community because of BLK/BC). Bob fucked both of them over and went away with the money.

Aye and Bob started with threats first, told the Chinese "project owner" that he will crush the project if he doesn't get more $.

That's what I remember from the leaked IRC logs.

I will not involve myself in discussions of the probabilities surrounding vaporware.

Hah, that's new.
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XDC] DASH CLASSIC | Fair Relaunch | No Instamine | No Foundation | X11 on: January 21, 2016, 01:13:16 PM
This looks like an attempt at a shitcoin that you're trying to sell with the thin excuse of replacing Dash's flaws on launch.

You straight up can't clone your competitor right down to using their marketing materials and content and expect your effort to supplant and replace their first-mover advantage to be taken seriously.

The right way to do it would be to choose a different name and branding. Create your own video and other marketing assets. THEN in all other communications, take on Dash head-on. Anything else is just an effort to make money from a shitcoin.

Honestly, it looks like a trolling attempt from one of the Morello investors. Look at his forced response:

hahaha awesome

Thank you.

The idea of fairly relaunching Dash with no instamine and no Foundation is catching on!

Includes instamine in every single comment, it's simply to troll DASH nothing serious.

Also moderated.

Looks like I didn't cut it for the airdrop, which I understand given my limited activity around here.  Cry

Anyhow stopping by to wish the project good luck, and I'll no doubt get my little pickaxe out once this launches so that I can get my hands on some, and will look forward to participating further. It's been a very long time since I last got excited about something new in cryptoland, and I really like how things are shaping up for Decred.

You can always try to add a twitter account or any forum accounts related to crypto imho or mb even a linkedin account, the airdrop link label is titeled: "Online presence with reasonable activity"
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vanillacoin's Chainblender: Technical analyse on: January 12, 2016, 06:07:41 AM
On a sidenote people need to understand that not only 100% anonimity sollution can be viable as ringsigs for example, anything coming close to the 99% range is good enough if it can solve bloat and speed issues for real world use compatibility. Numbers are examples obv.

Anything less than 100% is worthless IMO. It only takes one crack in the design and suddenly everything is onymous again.

Show me how you would deanonymize ChainBlender. It might not be the most advanced sollution in your eyes (compared to something like zerocash - which is still vapor), but if it works and if its fast and if it doesn't do bloat, it's good enough for real world use.

Why should I bother? Are you paying me?

I will be trying to earn the $300+ per hour that smooth can earn instead of wasting my time on fools.

Does theymos pay you 300$/hr to use spam bitcointalk? Sign me up.

My main grip with John Conner is he doesn't put all the technical details in a white paper, because he is apparently wants to avoid peer review.

Proof? Oh, it's a guess? Nothing but bias here.

Smooth doesn't have time to reverse engineer his half-assed white papers either. So we can't entirely explain the flaws without wasting a lot of our valuable time.

You 2 seem to have way more free time on your hands than anyone on this forum. Nothing proves it better than you advertising your vaporware ion since months, doing hundreds of comments with it and coming out with nothing, not even a half whitepaper for it. You simply hijack random threads to advertise it.

But I can already tell you this chainblender is flawed

Code is on the github, whitepaper is up, please point out the flaws instead of going full rage mode with bias and playing the name/shame game since your very first comment in the thread. You obviously have a personal problem with John and that clouds every single one of your comments. The OP asked for a technical discussion here, no respect from your side.
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vanillacoin's Chainblender: Technical analyse on: January 11, 2016, 10:45:20 AM
He is making 100% offtopic accusations that are based on exactly nothing to back them up, nothing even slightly relevant.

He is also one of the most qualified people on this forum to review anonymity solutions, having written his own white paper on the subject, so even a cursory glance is valuable.

evidence: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1284083.msg13211623#msg13211623

Let's hear why this solution is different to Dash's and then we'll take it from there.

These really doesn't matter here as all he did was trolling with that comment. So far he didn't release a single thing, everything recently is vapor.

On a sidenote people need to understand that not only 100% anonimity sollution can be viable as ringsigs for example, anything coming close to the 99% range is good enough if it can solve bloat and speed issues for real world use compatibility. Numbers are examples obv.

@Goldmaxx

Close the topic and reopen it moderated and make it a clean discussion topic without off-topic spam and e-penis showcase.

I am against moderated topics...Although I find TPTB_need_war's accusations lame and not sufficiently well explained, he still has the right to think and say what he likes to say...

Regards

Goldmaxx

He is making 100% offtopic accusations that are based on exactly nothing to back them up, nothing even slightly relevant. Also he is raging obviously for no reason in the very first reply on the topic.

People like him should get moderated out, this would be a thread that should be focused on discussing a single feature. Else you know that I am against most forms of moderation, I kept the unmoderated VNL thread open as long as I could.
