Thank you Last of the V8's I am so happy you like your bar and thanks for the advice over the course of this.

I will think about the designs of the the next lot and hope next time I can use the advice and guidance given to have a more successful auction.

I will lock this topic again until Tecshare has his bar and I look forward to making it 3 out of 3 happy buyers.

I have alt accounts attacking me in my own topic I have had to lock it down.

Tecshare I have sent to the escrow at my cost and also my cost to reship.. again let's not keep things going here. people make mistakes I have accepted that I made one and Jimjam also has made a post about it to as far as I am concerned the matter is over I await reply's for tecshare and Last of the V8's.

I hope they enjoy there bars.

Sorry for being human and making a mistake.. I'm sure we've all done it at some point.

Magic

Yes, I have received tracking info. You did the right thing, eventually... but everything in between was pointless. I would be a lot more willing to give you credit for admitting your mistakes if you had done it of your own volition rather than after the forced pulling of teeth. I am not going to antagonize you. All I wanted was for you to learn something out of this whole fiasco, otherwise it would have eventually been some one else if it wasn't me.

Lesson has been learned and advice has been taken on board.

And I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

People make mistakes it's not how you get knocked down it's how you get back up that matters.

I hope we can overlook this as a learning process as a new seller here now I know much more about the way to conduct business here.

Please let me know when you get your bar.

Thanks

Anyway item is now shipped I doubt I will conduct any sales here again the experience has been horrible from a simple mistake into 2 super threads where I have been accused of underhanded tactics.

Most people were super helpful to you in the auction thread, trying to explain to you how your terms can be misinterpreted and how you could conclude the auction amicably, but unfortunately you ignored most of that advice. TECSHARE is an asshole to everyone so don't take it personally, and in this case he had every right to be like that, seeing how your behavior did not inspire trust.

You can't really expect to impose your own rules when you start business in a new place. For example on ebay you'd probably have the funds on hold for 21 days for the initial trades on a new account, and if you dragged your feet with shipping you'd probably have a negative rating already. No hand-holding and personalized advice for sure.

Here at least mistakes can be excused if you make an effort to learn from them.

Advice noted from all and I do appreciate the people who stuck up for me and saw things from my side not just one sided.

I did take advice and I have done what was asked not much else to say on the matter I hope the buyers like there bars.

Even thought I am proving I am trust worthy I don't see the community being so understanding over the matter.

I half expect more negative rating from "friends" like I have been getting already.

548  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Confiscation & Hack Attacks on: February 24, 2020, 09:05:07 PM
People get hung up on 51% attack.

Here is an attack that can destroy bitcoin using nothing but economics.

The Confiscation & Hack Attacks
Each Country in the world continually Confiscates Bitcoin earned by criminals and auctions it to the public.
Hired Hackers to constantly steal bitcoins from Rich People & exchanges to Sell on the Markets.

What this does is keep the price of bitcoin lower than the actual mining costs forcing more miners into bankruptcy and eventually bankrupting the ASIC manufacturers. This will eventually cause the network to enter a death spiral as the ability to find a new block will be beyond the majority of the public.

* Advantages to this attack, is the governments profit the entire time during the attacks, using the profits to fund even more attacks.

Funny thing is:  This attack is occurring now and will only increase as time passes.

Even if they bankrupt the large farms with this type of thing there would always be a collective out there who could mine and keep the chain going also if the large players were to be forced out it would just hand the network back to the small miners that in turn would boost adoption further as more smaller miners jumped back on the chain.  It would take some time for the DIFF to re-adjust back down but the attack would not stop miners from coming online if they thought they could get a slice of the pie again.

More people than ever are starting to understand how to store there crypto in paper wallets or hardware wallets I think over time we will see more security coming to the way we store our crypto so hackers would have a hard time hacking cold or hardware wallets.

Exchanges too are stepping up there security what we would like to see is more DEX markets that actually have some liquidity in them the reason people don't trade in them now is they have very little price action or traders there but the more regulation pushes on these places maybe in time we will see a solid DEX start that has some liquidity and can attract traders and investors to it.
549  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there any proof fractional reserve banking goes on to in the UK or globally on: February 24, 2020, 08:51:14 PM
Back to my other point, is this not already designed by beurocrats to encourage a lot of spending?

If someone didn't pay their loan then their collateral would be put up for sale and the bank would already have needed to print money to pay them, but wouldn't this already be factored into the government measured inflation?

(the British government measures inflation based on grocery prices so surely this would still remain fairly stable as the currency has already been minted into the supply).

I think they class this as "Toxic" debt and once they have enough "Toxic" un-recoverable loans or defaults if there own credit collections services are unable to recover it they sell them in packages to "outside debt collection services" I have seen a lot of default on banking products make there way into the hands of private collection firms for collection this means they can bundle them up and sell them on at a loss still to another party who will try enforce the debt.

The other thing I have seen is the use of the courts for re-possession of property for debt's related to mortgages ect.

Both ways they seem to have a way to get out of there positions if the private company were to buy the "Toxic" debt they still have income to produce more loans or credit as they use that income to then counter the "Toxic" debt that has been lost or written off.

Maybe Satoshi should have used this headline in the Genesis block

"Financial crisis: just how big is Britain's toxic debt?"  Answer MASSIVE!

** Edit **

I also await a review from Last of the v8's when his bar arrives I was informed it was shipped from the escrow to him today..
It will be good when your customers confirm receipt of your bars. However any positive trust score you get out of this auction will be overshadowed by what happened during the auction and before you shipped.

If you have other items you want to sell, you can auction them off, and if you do, you should take this as a learning experience and refine how you conduct business.

Good luck.

I already have conformation of the first 2 being received one was bought by the escrow agent and the 2nd is being re-shipped by him.

I still don't think what I asked for was uncalled for.

 I have no previous dealing with either the buyer or the escrow service.

I was asked to ship direct to the buyer outside the terms of the listing, without any proofs if me requiring a signature on delivery as per the listing was not acceptable then the buyer should not have bid.

The escrow was also the buyer choice.

All I asked for was proof that the escrow was indeed holding the funds and all this could have been avoided.

I took responsibility for the poor outline of the auction terms but nothing underhand was attempted at any point.

End of the day a contract is only valid if Both party's agree on it not just one I have bowed to peer pressure and shipped without proof and on the "word" of the community.

Anyway item is now shipped I doubt I will conduct any sales here again the experience has been horrible from a simple mistake into 2 super threads where I have been accused of underhanded tactics.

Shame I had some nice plans ahead for some more custom stuff but I doubt I will go ahead with them now.

552  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there any proof fractional reserve banking goes on to in the UK or globally on: February 24, 2020, 07:25:59 PM
Just going to use this post to explain what it is so if you have proof feel free to reply without reading this.

As I understand it (not looked at it recently) fractional reserve banking is a system that allows banks more earning power on money you put in while allowing the customer access to some of their funds.

For example (@10% reserve):
If you deposit $3000 into a bank account, the bank is able to lend out $2700 and keep $300 of your original $3000.
If this $2700 is then lent out to someone who wants to buy a new kitchen for example, they pay the cashier and the business owner receives the funds in their account. Now of this $2700 the bank is able to lend out $2430 and store $270 of the original funds as the reserve and this can continue on...

This often gets explained as a "concept" or "theory" but does this actually happen?

Since the commonly used example allows $1000 to become $9000 (I may update this if I get libre running). Edit: spreadsheet says $2912.37 as a floor of the number of new money produced with a 10% reserve).

This is exactly what they do the lend more than they actually have on the basis that most people will pay back the debt and allow them to continue the fraud. Unlike them lending what they have in there reserves this fictional money is created out of no where with no actually backing.

In the UK they do not have a reserve requirement. None of the banks are restricted by their reserves when making a loan or finance agreements. The bank can expand their balance sheet to make the a loan or finance agreement with the client, in turn this will effectively increasing the money supply available.

It's like a giant game on monopoly with them passing go on every roll.  The worrying thing is what happens where we start to notice the debasement of the underlying currency and people start to panic.  Already we see the purchase power of the USD and GBP starting to fall over time this will accelerate and cause a meltdown in the western  fictional money system meanwhile Russia, china and the middle east will be looking to create gold backed currency leading to the being given AAA rating's by the IMF...
553  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: v0.1 on: February 24, 2020, 07:11:38 PM
I have downloaded the 0.1 version of Bitcoin, if I run it, will it generate the first block? Or it will search for connections and once it finds nothing, the node will not run?

Bitcoin 0.1 will find connection, but certainly can't find other compatible node because it use IRC to find other nodes and the "node" won't run.
Besides, i'm not sure whether Bitcoin 0.1 include list of IRC link or IP of other node.

The early client would connect via IRC by the following ways I though it might be interesting to share how the early client worked and how it connected to the IRC and also to public services for important info.

First it would look for the hostname of chat.freenode.net on port 6667   ( File IRC.CPP )

Code:
 struct hostent* phostent = gethostbyname("chat.freenode.net");
        CAddress addrConnect(*(u_long*)phostent->h_addr_list[0], htons(6667));

It would then set you a Nickname / User

Code:
        Send(hSocket, strprintf("NICK %s\r", strMyName.c_str()).c_str());
        Send(hSocket, strprintf("USER %s 8 * : %s\r", strMyName.c_str(), strMyName.c_str()).c_str());

It would then have a small rest

Sleep(500)

Before sending a request to join the #bitcoin\r channel's on IRC

Code:
        Send(hSocket, "JOIN #bitcoin\r");
        Send(hSocket, "WHO #bitcoin\r");

Something else not many people know is the Net.cpp file would contact public services to get some interesting information for your connection.

( FILE NET.CPP)
Code:
bool GetMyExternalIP(unsigned int& ipRet)
{
    CAddress addrConnect("72.233.89.199:80"); // whatismyip.com 198-200

    SOCKET hSocket;
    if (!ConnectSocket(addrConnect, hSocket))
        return error("GetMyExternalIP() : connection to %s failed\n", addrConnect.ToString().c_str());

    char* pszGet =
        "GET /automation/n09230945.asp HTTP/1.1\r\n"
        "Host: www.whatismyip.com\r\n"
        "User-Agent: Bitcoin/0.1\r\n"
        "Connection: close\r\n"
        "\r\n";
    send(hSocket, pszGet, strlen(pszGet), 0);

As of a few years back you could no longer use the original client without some modifications but it could still be used if changes are made but it's unlikely anyone will make them and publish a working copy of the original client now.

556  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Obama DHS Whistleblower Found Dead On Side Of California Highway, ...suicide" on: February 24, 2020, 02:29:46 AM
Seem to just be the way they deal with things when people go up against power or know too much the mob's come after them and make there life either hell, haul them before courts or just kill them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assassinations

Seems that western governments are now starting to slip into the way of this I half expected Edward Snowden to have been assassinated by now who know's what will happen to Julian Assange there at the end of the day these people are exposing true crimes by people in power and should have protection if the world won't wake up and support people who speak out about war crimes or fraud or any of the nasty things that go on the we are doomed to allow good people to be thrown under the bus and no one will even notice.

You don't see Obama or David Cameron being questioned about mass murder in the middle east yet they jail and want to extradite Assange for reporting war crimes one rule for the rich one rule for the people.
557  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: latest bitcoin core version still support mining ? on: February 24, 2020, 02:12:47 AM
generatetoaddress is for regtest only. It is only used for testing purposes. It cannot be used on mainnet. Bitcoin Core no longer has mainnet mining capability. This has been removed for a long time
What? Since when? Works fine for me:

$ ./bitcoin-cli generatetoaddress 1 bc1qw64su7f6sdf9qqawa40v2uq7crzrrmzs2qx2hl
[
]

(and setting a high max tries makes it take a long time to return while it busily tries many times).

It has an utterly negligible chance of finding a block because the little cpu miner does so little work compared to the current difficulty, of course, but it works.

Please don't conflate "this would be a waste of your time and energy" with "this will not work".

Yelling at people that they shouldn't or can't mine has done a lot of harm to Bitcoin. And a bitcoin node that couldn't mine at all-- even if the mining is only useful in a testing capacity without the help of an asic-- wouldn't deserve being called a node.

I 100% agree today was amazing for the small miner who walked away with 115k with very little power to the pool, I have long suspected it was possible to still mine on main net with the core wallet but so many posts and people saying not to mine make people think oh I might just go mine on antpool or something stupid like that.

I always wondered what the network would look like now if we never had pool mining and solo was the only option i believe we would be in a much much better place and would have 10000000x more nodes on the network.

I still have my trusty S3's tucked away with 1 always on ck's solo pool for years now without luck I may just setup my own little node and point the miner at that see if I get super lucky like the guy today!

Thanks for the info maxwell!

559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1.1 BTC Puzzle by Phemex on: February 23, 2020, 07:26:09 PM
The question is in a very weird format.

'I understand elliptic curve is to be researched and understand by us noobies. But is it required to use to reach the private key?'

So, we're supposed to understand it to get to the key, but not use it?
Though Max hasn't confirmed the first part of his question.

Seems very strange indeed but I would think it would put out a lot of people from the puzzle if it we're calculating the points on the curve with the numbers we have been given.

I wonder if any of the others will be able to spot anything with the numbers that we may be missing.  However I do have the feeling it's on the right path.

Some interesting info on this post about it could it be that the letter they talk about here was another forgery by CSW and hence he has had it removed and or excluded somehow from the wayback machine?

It may be interested to see this letter could turn up anywhere or if the company involved has a copy of it for public perusal.

http://dir.md/article/sgi-denies-links-with-alleged-bitcoin-founder-craig-wright/?host=www.zdnet.com

Quote
SGI has denied any contact with Craig Wright and his supercomputer firm, Cloudcroft Supercomputers Australia, despite documents claiming that the two companies have previously worked together.

High performance computing firm SGI has denied any involvement with Cloudcroft Supercomputers Australia, a supercomputer firm that was founded by suspected bitcoin founder Craig Wright under his parent company DeMorgan.

In a letterfeaturing the SGI letterhead and the supposed signature of SGI APAC service director Greg McKeon, SGI acknowledged it would be assisting Cloudcroft Supercomputers Australia in the development of hyper-density machines and supercomputers.

"As a global leader in high performance solutions for computers, data analytics and data management, SGI considers Cloudcroft a worthy partner in the goal to accelerate time to discovery, innovation and profitability," the letter said.

The letter also highlighted the two companies have previously worked together to build Cloudcroft's first supercomputer, Sukuriputo Okane.

WhaTechhas previously reported that Wright even presented lectures on supercomputers in partnership between Cloudcroft, SGI, and Charles Sturt University.

Further evidence to suggest that Wright was the supposed owner of a supercomputer was highlighted in a Cloudcroft blogposted in December 2014, which indicated that Wright at the time had intentions to build "the biggest supercomputer cluster in Australia, with just under 5 petabytes", in time for the release of the Top 500 in June 2015.

However, Cassio Conceicao, SGI EVP and chief operating officer, has told ZDNet that despite this, SGI has never had any contact with Cloudcroft or Wright.

"Cloudcroft has never been an SGI customer and SGI has no relationship with Cloudcroft CEO Craig Steven Wright," he said.

Conceicao added that SGI has no record of the C01N supercomputer being purchased or serviced by the firm. The C01N supercomputer, which was placed at number 17on the list of the world's fastest supercomputer in November, is another supercomputer that Wright apparently owns. It was allegedly created when Wright merged C01N and Tulip Trading, Cloudcroft's supposed flagship supercomputer, into a single high performance computer.

"SGI has no record of the CO1N supercomputer ever being purchased or serviced from SGI, therefore SGI suspects it may have been purchased on the grey market," Conceicao said. "SGI does not operate, maintain, or provide any services for this supercomputer."

On Wednesday, a home located in Sydney, New South Wales, and offices, which allegedly belonged to Wright, were raided by the Australian Federal Policein relation to an Australian Taxation Office investigation.

While it has not been confirmed, Wright is reportedly involved in the creation of the bitcoin cryptocurrency. Based on leaked transcripts of legal interviews and files, Gizmodo and Wired have highlighted that there is evidence to suggest Wright, along with computer forensics analyst David Kleiman, who died in April 2013, are the men behind Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of bitcoin that has never been identified.

Since the raid, Wright's online presence has been slowly disappearing. The letter, together with the Cloudcroft and DeMorgan website, and Wright's LinkedIn profile and Twitter account, have since been pulled.

It seems that this letter has been removed from the internet and is not available via the wayback machine.
