542  Economy / Speculation / Re: Let's analyse Bitcoin's recent market rise on: February 24, 2019, 04:30:20 PM
And maybe it's all much simpler? Look at this and read between the lines:

To me it looks like THE tech giant is saying "bitcoin is legal, bitcoin is unquestionable, bitcoin has real future".
Maybe this recent spike is caused by this simple post alone? Its usually something as small as pebbles that start the avalanche.
Overlooked detail with quite strong significance but obviously it does not expresses the stance of an entire google corp, or does it?
And this is exactly my point Smiley Was this intentional or not, IMO it did the trick.
543  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Disadvantages of Gambling on: February 24, 2019, 02:48:30 PM
-anip- This addiction can cause ill health to a gambler and damage family financial life which can lead to suicide.
Not only financial but psychological trauma can and will harm entire family of the person in question.
This in my opinion is the biggest disadvantage of gambling addiction, possibility to negatively influence lives of family members.
Just like any other mental disorders or illnesses, gambling may result in escalation of violence among families, gradual degradation of emotional attachment and slow, painful process of tumbling down the self hatred spiral. In its most advanced stage, homicidal and suicidal tendency have all the circumstances to emerge, as compulsive gambling physically alters brains[study].

Dummy wallets?
And How about a wallet stored in a decoy system on a dummy partition, hidden at boot and encrypted?  Cool Grin
https://www.truecrypt71a.com/documentation/plausible-deniability/hidden-operating-system/
Considering such sophisticated and convoluted process, separate machine should be used, at least for testing and setup training.
If we can provide some obscurity for the transactions of our hidden wallet, then this should do the trick.
I was using this feature for quite some time back in the day, it was a pain in terms of ease of access, although safety first right?
Good for security paranoiacs, rather not an everyday solution.
545  Economy / Economics / Re: A Blockchain Project that cannnot be resisted on: February 23, 2019, 01:56:43 PM
1. Excess money in circulation.    If demand for money is less than supply, the money loses value. Central banks usually stop money from inflation by reducing its supply to create artificial scarcity.
-snip-
It your simplistic view of supply and demand mechanics of money that is misleading you slightly.
This subject is much more complex than simple printing or not printing funds in to economy by central banks.
This equation is considered valid while economy is stable/gradual up-down Ms=CC+rD
-where:
    Ms - money supply;
    CC - cash in circulation;
    rD - all real deposits.
As you can see, it's not only banks but also people with their decisions to deposit money, have influence on the general supply.
CC=CC/rD this means that 'CC ratio is directly connected with the consumption rate to GNI
Now ordinary (no central) bank is also restrained by similar mechanics, they need to evaluate how much money they have as liquid(CL) and how much as deposits. Br=CL/rD
Central Bank, who has the power to decide about monetary base(M), needs to take in to consideration how much CC and rD non central banks have(Br). So, M=Ms*X, where X expresses as factor: CC+1/CC+Br
As you can see, X factor is inherently unstable(and composed of 3 additional conditions), central banks can't foresee it accurately so they have to estimate how much money will be required. Sometimes central bank is forced to reduce M, destroy physical money in order to keep gradual growth(whenever this is good or not is another question) and secure the value of Br, not only to prevent inflation.

546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM malware on: February 23, 2019, 11:15:06 AM
Whether or not they are out there, it's best not to get involved with those type. Even if it's easy money or promising to give you a high return, don't get in quickly. DYOR and be sure what you are going to and risking. Nothing will ever come out right with a scam.
That's for sure, it's nothing more than an ordinary theft. I bet there are easier and cheaper ways for becoming a criminal.
But let's think logically for a moment, why would any one be selling a method that can bring millions and risk for it to be discovered and patched up? Doesn't make any sense, such skim would be kept a secret for as long as possible, in order to bring hassle free profits.
Fact that it's being sold somewhere, means its probably already patched off the atm's or it never worked in the first place, what is in fact the most probable scenario. Desperate search for ways to rob people, will end up with the seeker being scammed...
547  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you play loteries ,did you won something on: February 23, 2019, 10:06:32 AM
I did try my luck on the lottery but it is a bit boring for me.
That's a good point, I have the same feeling for lottery. It's just to damn passive.
Pick your numbers and wait for days, check your numbers and try again and again and again... to a point where you are no longer interested in winning, you play because it became your habit, some sort of ritual. And its not even addiction at this point, cause this process is devoted of any emotions whatsoever. Numb gambling, no opponents, no ticking timers, no matter what you gonna do, outcome will be the same. That's why I only bet while huge cumulations are in play. Some say it's the taxation of dreams... they're right.
548  Economy / Gambling / Re: 📌DreamPot.io | 999 rounds for start! | 1 Billion Jackpot🔥 on: February 22, 2019, 04:08:13 PM
It means we advice to use Google Chrome + MetaMask
Fair enough, probably would be a lot better to state this as "suggested partners/services" though, this way you can avoid unnecessary speculations or rather suspicions, like those I mentioned earlier. Hope you're not surprised that some are having this cautious approach, we have seen quite a lot convoluted and colourful schemes before...

So are you the owner of this website or just a representative of theirs for this community?
549  Economy / Gambling / Re: 📌DreamPot.io | 999 rounds for start! | 1 Billion Jackpot🔥 on: February 22, 2019, 03:24:26 PM
it looks nice but mentioning google chrome as partners seems like a little stretch.
So if this one is an exaggeration, so are the rest of those so called partners.
I'm not implying anything here but .io plus probably fake partners. plus unknown organisers, equals to hoax possibility.
I'm not sure how smart contract based lottery should work, are there any means for them to runaway with collected cash?
550  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: iVendPay - a vending machine payment module on: February 22, 2019, 08:47:03 AM
but most users will be hesitant to install an app and load some coins just to pay for a cup of coffee.
I don't think there is any special app one needs to install. This man in the video clearly says "open your wallet" and then he performs standard QR scan. Nothing suggest that dedicated application is necessary. I would say that there is quite nice selection of coins, so to me it already looks usable and frankly awesome. If I was to have a vending machine, this box would be on my strongly consider list.

Question is, does an interference with machines hardware voids the warranty? Probably so:
a) one have to truly own it b) retrofit for rather old vending machines c) service needs the know how

551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: need to post instructions according to the rules on: February 22, 2019, 08:24:13 AM
Hmm i want to post some service like create an ERC20 smartcontract, like token, lotery or etc client want, and i have to create telegram bot tip like ECA. where i must post on ? what hastag must i post on title ?
There are no hashtags here, so it dosn't matter. If you planing on starting some sort of a game, gambling /games and rounds section is your destination. Dealing with altcoins makes your content to match altcoins section obviously.
Just take a look at all the sections and match up your posts, if you get the theme wrong, don't worry, there is always an option to move the topics.
552  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Shop directly on Amazon.com with Bitcoin on: February 21, 2019, 10:45:36 AM
I want to be totally transparent with who we are.
That's nice, but I think what we actually want from you, is not your credentials but rather the source code of this service.
Without Moon being open-source, there is noting that could make you appear as more legitimate service.
Nice graphics, logos or utilities won't help much, people here generally value their privacy and safety.
Forgive me for being sceptical but I bet you can understand how important that is.
I would be more keen to use Moon if it was a stand-alone, lightning ready, micro wallet separated from coinbase, which I don't like any way. I think no one would complain on you taking fees if this service would actually work.
As of right now it looks and feels like massive security breach.
553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The big picture they've all been missing on: February 20, 2019, 08:41:00 AM
There's no crypto without Bitcoin
That is like saying their are no Cars without a Ford Model T.
Is this the best analogy or what?
I must say, that I fully agree with OP, and your simple yet accurate analogy proves the point Khaos77 , although you didn't gave it much thought and so your conclusions ended up being misled.
Let's dwell on this idea for a second, in an alternate reality Henry Ford never decided to utilize his idea for an motorized assembly line.
Vehicles remained expensive due to being built by highly skilled, professional mechanist team. Spare parts have stayed costly and scarce, due to small requisition. Private transport revolution did not happen, no roads where necessary, no infrastructure.
Public means of transportations, like trains, ships, airplanes took over. Car remained something in shape of a wonder, short range, electric, unreliable gizmo. This may be hard to imagine as our history happened the way it did but such possibility exists nevertheless.
There would be no cars as we know them today without Ford T and there will be no altcoins without bitcoin.
554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Four reasons that cryptocurrencies will revolutionize the online casino industry on: February 19, 2019, 08:56:29 PM
Op I really agree with you and I think we should be able to take advantage of blockchain technology in promoting casino and gambling industries.  I think gambling industries is the greatest beneficiary of blockchain technology in this year and other form of investment is fading away.
Well, that's a little exaggeration I would say. The greatest beneficiary's are ordinary people. The rest is just business.
Same goes to gambling, we can all agree upon provability being the best asset of crypto based casino games, so ordinary players are in fact safer, protected from advantage taking houses. I wonder what percentage of bets being regularly tested against the seeds.
From time to time, people should do it just for sake of it, even if they have established trust for any particular casino.
As to old-school online gambling being close to fade away, I don't know but for sure conditions for it to happen are present and evaporation of fiat houses have never been more possible then today.
555  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-02-17]Cryptocurrency Inheritance Problem to Be Solved by Italian Startup on: February 19, 2019, 06:06:49 PM
This seems to cost €200 to set up and €200 a year to maintain.
Man, this seems quite expensive for storing just a few kilobytes of data...
I could understand the initial price being even bigger, as legal preparation and staff training may inflate the cost, but maintaining few kb at 200 per year feels like a blunt robbery. I think that it will end up being just that, the robbery. I would never trust such important task to some startup while the same type of security can be created through solicitor, that is actually abided under special laws.

556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any valid reason to continue gambling? on: February 18, 2019, 06:22:29 PM
Lol theres a difference between GAMBLING and PLAYING
Fair point, difference between the two is undeniable. Having fun while playing casino games, just for the sake of having fun, can not be called gambling. Yet, how many people do it without having any hopes for scoring big? Tiny fraction of players display such approach.
Those can be described as bystanders, occasional or rather casual players. The rest 99.9% still counting on wining jackpot, or at least make even while having little thrill in the process. This would still be my stance as well, valid reason will be to experience the game, to play it.

558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunters, please be patient. on: February 18, 2019, 11:54:47 AM
You work scientifically.
I do not think that storing multiple wallets on the drive makes your computer take up space. LOL.
I do realise how ridiculous this may sound in 2019, but this obviously depends of the hardware available.
I bet there are many who struggle with small and even tiny HDD's. Netbooks with 16gb storage are quite common in developing areas, so quite a lot of people can be turned off, just because of storage space dilemma. No to mention internet plans.
You can't blame them because you chose (ICO) to work, they don't choose you. You can choose other projects.
"You don't like it? Go away" argument is very washed up.
If somebody is choosing any particular project and finalization is stated then, is it really fair to change rules during the game?
I say no, it isn't and people have the right to be unhappy. If there is no specific date scheduled as end, then you are 100% right.
My opinion is that most ICOs are currently in the same situation.
I guess they are but is it truly a bad thing? Everybody is struggling this way or another.
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty hunters, please be patient. on: February 18, 2019, 11:22:23 AM
Even if we are patient, we are also humans who wants to get paid fairly without waiting so many years and more. I dont think this thread would get more views from the bounty hunters.
I share very similar view. Extending waiting periods for months was the main cause for me to quit chasing bounty opportunities.
There has to be a limit at some point, first of all people have limited memory, there is just now way to remember all the promotions they took part in. After few months of waiting its easy to forget about some particular task, that was necessary for the reward.
Second thing is to keep up with the technology, few to many wallets on your drive, can deplete storage space, internet plan limit etc. so it is itself problematic to be entangled with many campaigns at once.
560  Other / Meta / Re: How can we take Bitcoin Talk back into the Bitcoin community? on: February 17, 2019, 05:48:36 PM
A relic that gains value over time is a static object. A community is a living organism. If a community website doesn't adapt to the ever changing landscape of both the internet and society at large, it'll suffer a slow and painful death. I'm not saying Bitcointalk should do a 180 and change it's entire identity, but feature-full (as in by today's standards), easy to use and stable software as well as fostering a community are probably 2 of the few objectively beneficial things to strive for in an online forum.
It's not static, metals cover with patina, paintings get pale and so on. Sure maintenance is needed but custodians have this iron rule to never repair, only conserve. Of course it's a bad idea to apply this to computer code however preservation of the original experience can not be a bad thing... right? I do agree that it needs to stay on par with the technology, period. Only solution seems to be emulation Smiley New soft, old looks.

It's not a backstory if it's still the same as it used to be. A backstory is a tale of progression and change - how an object / person / event / platform evolved, not how it remained the same for eternity.
It is a backstory to me. Not only words but also those old obsolete signature codes, that link to non-existent places. Would be a shame to loose all that as it is a story. Sotory of change because of the medium, because it wasn't changed 5years ago in to something else. Call me sentimental but I truly believe in the power of traditions and those can't be built of liquid-like changes. This of course if preserving any satoshis spirit is our goal...

This place is alive because it was the first and only official Bitcoin forum. In an alternate universe, if this forum wasn't the first one and thus in competition with all the other copycats, it probably wouldn't fare as well.
That's true. I don't know where I was going with this ;_p
As someone who moderates the place as well as an active user of the forum, there are many, many broken things about the forum. There's a reason I barely venture outside Meta if I just want to chill and read some interesting content. Or maybe that's just me.
Obviously you know better. I saw this pattern couple of times though, owners decide to refresh UI, users complain, small part of them leaves never to return. Owners perform more updates to introduce fancy stuff -> dégringolade, downfall etc.
In my opinion this is the purest, most legible classic-forum around, basically the last page that does not make my eyes tired after 15 minutes of reading and so, I'm a little worried when I hear some staff member mentions drastic changes. Eh...can't stop progress, I guess, emulate  Cool
