541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Girl Survived with 0.21 Bitcoins for 21 Days, how do you think of it? on: September 15, 2018, 05:15:23 AM
helping her out like reselling products she needed in exchange for her Bitcoins

I would not call that living solely on bitcoins, nearly none of the merchants accept bitcoins there.
If she gets a crypto backed card with visa membership it would be a lot easier to live a normal life.

In normal circumstances she might not have survived. But her friends helped her out with the necessities. Still I agree with your post. It will be much easier if she gets a Visa or Mastercard debit card, which can be topped up with Bitcoins. I myself owns one.
542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I bought bitcoin at $20k last year on: September 15, 2018, 05:10:30 AM
Dips are common with all forms of investment and are not just limited to crypto-currency. I know certain equities which dipped by more than 99% during the dot com bust. At least Bitcoin is faring much better. It is still holding on to 30% of its value from the peak levels.
543  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too many new Exchanges on: September 14, 2018, 02:44:00 AM
There are too many tokens around and there are many which are not traded in the major exchanges. The smaller exchanges make use of this opportunity. They list the relatively unknown tokens in their exchanges and gain thousands of new users (and increased revenue).
544  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why does anyone care about BTC ETF? on: September 14, 2018, 02:42:06 AM
The repeated rejections can be very frustrating. But at the same time, I should say that if an ETF was approved, then we could have gained millions of new users. Perhaps that is the reason why the wall-street was so afraid of the ETF and did all it can to block it.
545  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Indian crypto currency exchange takes Central Bank to court against recent ban on: September 14, 2018, 02:39:59 AM
I know how slow these Indian courts are in passing down the judgement. This case will most probably go on for 10-15 years and by the time we get a verdict Bitcoin may not even exist.

Couldn't put it any better. One of my Indian friends had a dispute regarding property ownership and the legal fight went on for more than two decades. Finally, both the parties reached an agreement. Else it would have carried on for many more years.
546  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC plays with ETF! on: September 14, 2018, 02:34:45 AM
An ETF would have been good.... but now it looks like they are not going to allow it. So we need to forget about it and move on with our regular lives. It was not a do or die situation. Bitcoin and the other cryptos can survive without the help of an ETF.
547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we change the public's view of Crypto world? on: September 13, 2018, 03:30:24 AM
The most efficient mode is the social media. Because in general the mainstream media has a negative view about the crypto-currency and if we want to counter their negative propaganda then we should make use of the social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter effectively.
548  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin may reach $ 20,000 by the end of this year? on: September 13, 2018, 03:28:42 AM
This thread should have been in the speculation sub-forum. Personally, I don't think that 20K will be reached within the next 3 months. I don't even think that Bitcoin will reach 10K before 2019. On the other hand, IMO another major correction can occur anytime now.
549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo vs. GGG 2 Discussion Thread, WHO YOU GOT? on: September 13, 2018, 03:26:04 AM
@Jannn - its Adalaide Byrd, the judge who score a whooping 118-110 in favor of Canelo. She made a lot of controversial scoring not just in boxing but UFC as well.

UFC allowed its own reputation to be tarnished, by allowing Adalaide Byrd to return as a judge. Her scoring during UFC 222 was even worse. Just confirms my feeling that UFC doesn't care about the fans at all. How can they allow someone so biased to be a judge?
550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The bulls will run Q4 2018. Thoughts? on: September 13, 2018, 03:22:32 AM
I don't think so. The market is in a very distressed state and it will take at least 2-3 years for a recovery. If you can hold on to your coins for that long, then it will be good for you. If not then it is always better to sell a part of your coins and convert them to fiat.
551  Economy / Economics / Re: When will smartphones used for bitcoin mining? on: September 10, 2018, 05:02:01 PM
Considering the current hashpower required for Bitcoin mining, I don't think that it is practical to mine BTC using smartphones. However altcoins with PoS mining can be mined using smartphones.
552  Economy / Economics / Re: U.S tells China and India to stop buying oil from Iran on: September 10, 2018, 04:55:40 PM
Even with the Iranian oil exports, the brent crude prices are fluctuating at around $80 per barrel. If the Iranian production is removed from the market, then I am afraid that the prices may reach $200 per barrel.
553  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market is down. on: September 09, 2018, 06:24:16 PM
Bitcoin gone up and now its down again.
But if we will look at the graph at the starts BTC leap so high.
But people now are just comparing the price before at 20,000 USD.

About 12 months before the peak valuation of $20,000 per coin was reached, Bitcoin was trading at $900 per coin. But people don't want to talk about that price. They only want to compare the current price with the peak valuation.
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICOs are a legit or Scam? on: September 09, 2018, 06:21:23 PM
Hi Guys,

Im pretty keen to understand more about ICOs and intend to invest in some.
ANY recommended ICOs and any advise how you guys determine whether is it a legit or Scam?

Thanks in advance.

There are quite a lot of scams among the ongoing and upcoming ICOs, fueled by lack of regulations and lack of subject expertise. But at the same time, there are quite a few interesting projects out there, which look promising.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are you surprised at the price of ETH? on: September 09, 2018, 06:19:55 PM
There is no reason to get surprised with the recent price drop. On the other hand, I am thinking why it hasn't fallen even further. But don't worry folks, the trend is quite negative and very soon ETH will be available below $100 per coin.
556  Other / Archival / Re: Ethereum Will the Next Bitcoin? on: September 09, 2018, 06:18:48 PM
Ethereum was never a serious challenger for Bitcoin. At the most, during 2016-17 it held the same position that was held by Litecoin during 2013-14. And in all probability, Ethereum will end up as another LTC.
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People say altcoins won't survive on: September 08, 2018, 04:26:39 PM
Many community members have been claiming lately that altcoins are going to die or at least that 90% of altcoins are doomed.

I would certainly agree with the second part, and would even claim that the proportion can be even higher. Because only a very few of the altcoins have their own unique purpose and a dedicated batch of developers.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What coins are worth buying NOW on: September 08, 2018, 04:23:34 PM
My advice is to go for Bitcoin, as almost all the other crypto-currencies are losing their value on a daily basis. The market dominance of Bitcoin is fast approaching the 55% mark, and a few months back it was less than 33%.
559  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading Bitcoin for real estate? on: September 08, 2018, 04:20:52 PM
I am wondering how many of you are selling your bitcoins to buy something solid like real estate as backup investment? spread the eggs!

I have never tried purchasing real estate after making the payment in Bitcoins, but I have used BTC as a medium for buying assets such as gold bullion coins and antiques. Too many legal formalities are involved, if we want to purchase real estate with crypto.
560  Economy / Economics / Re: DO NOT SELL! JUST HODL - You've not loss any money if you haven't sold. on: September 08, 2018, 04:19:01 PM
For how long you are going to hold? You need to sell at least a part of the coins sooner or later. Else, how you are going to benefit from any of your crypto-investments? So this argument is plain wrong.
