561  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P POSSIBLE SCAM. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 29, 2015, 07:58:25 AM
I can see someone else already tried impersonating me telling the story of my account being sold to mislead everyone.

Whoever is on my steam account likely tried to take any valubles out of it but should not be able to because they need to go through mobile auth in order to complete any outgoing trades. But I am certain whoever it is already knows my password and has tried scamming some of my friends who are on my friend list.

So it seems my reputation has effectively been ruined beyond repair, and the community being so highly speculative and skeptical it would be difficult for me to convince everyone this is the real me and that my story is true.

Tell me how I can help prove this to you guys. I would like to regain access to my account, my bitcoin wallets, my e-mail, and anything else that may have been compromised.

The one good thing I see here is that the funds are not moved at all and with that I assume the hacker doesn't have enough control to be able to send out any transactions. We still have a chance to fix this if anyone is actually willing to help.

Yes Yes ... you still have no chance of getting the reputation and DT back. You were just testing all this time and now you afraid of the dox and other legal issues.

why would someone explain things on behalf of you ? if he was  hacker then he would have fled and there is no reason he would tell yahoo to send the funds to some address he is not in control of because you say the hacker is not in full control. You are lying outright.

Hacks doesn't happens this way. There was your involvement for sure.
562  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P POSSIBLE SCAM. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: December 29, 2015, 07:48:51 AM
Hi everyone, I am the REAL master-p.

MY ACCOUNT WAS NEVER SOLD.

It was hacked.

I seem to have gotten keylogged and have lost all my saved passwords including my accounts on bitcointalk, gmail, keybase, etc.

Right now I don't have access to my PGP key, my bitcointalk and gmail account, and my skype account which I seldom use.

I believe I got hacked on the 14th or 15th where I mistakenly downloaded something which may have caused the keylogger/malware to be installed.

I did not know it was a keylogger at the time and then shortly after that I went out of town. After the evenining of the 14th I no longer had constant access to the internet. When I did get wifi I tried to log in to bitcointalk but oddly found that my saved password wasn't working on my mobile. I assume that my mobile was not synced correctly to my desktop's saved password.

After getting back online and seeing all this it now makes sense. I am not currently at home, and I won't be for another week or so.

I can assume my private keys have been exposed as well since it seems like the hacker has gained control of my wallet on my desktop PC. Looks like the hacker may also have access to my steam account now but the password has not been changed as the steam guard has protected me on that front.

It is also safe to assume the hacker has been impersonating me via PMs, e-mail, and even Skype and now has pull off this terrible scam.

At this point is there anything I can do? I have remote access to my desktop. If there's any way for me to remedy this or to change my bitcoin wallet passwords please let me know.

Right now my computer is shut off, I guess a power outage happened but I can get it booted up remotely. I don't want to turn it on though as I assume the keylogger/hacker would gain immediate access to all my info again if he has not already.

Is there a way for me to safely change my wallet passwords without having to log in to my main PC where my Armory wallet is installed?

Guys I'm sorry this happened. I wish I had seen this sooner but I didn't have time to find wifi to sign on while I'm out of town.

I will check back here whenever I can for the next week or so but I can't guarantee any fast responses.

I looked up a few of the addresses and see the funds are not moved, including my tipping address where all the funds are still there. Is there a chance the hacker can't change my wallet password because my computer is turned off, thus unable to move the funds?

Hey you motherfucker why would the hacker ask yahoo to send the coins to your old tipping address ? and you motherfucker what took you 2-3 weeks to inform this ?

I don't see why people are believing that legal issue is going to help in any way. Account sales are allowed on the forum (they are discouraged) and if he proves it no one can do shit. This can also happen with newbie account's cause people are just trusting and no contracts are being signed and nothing legal is being done cause it again involves taxes and legal issues in order to promote the company or the signature here.

Many newbie scam's take place does it becomes a legal issue ? NO ,it's your trust which people abused.

This is global issue and none rules are applied. If a guy (like P) is managing multiple escrows and signaturing as well then he can easily make more than 6+ coins a month and 70+ coins a year but is he paying any taxes for that ? NO.There is nothing legal in the whole issue and there is no other way to get the funds back other than going to his home and kicking his ass.

I believe that the claim that the master-p account was sold has been more or less disproven, so I don't think he can use that as an excuse.

Right now the funds have not moved and the master-p account has really not made any kind of statement, so technically at this point he has not yet scammed (although this will likely, IMO, change in the future). Once master-p has "officially" scammed/stolen money (I am not sure what exactly would cause this to trigger) then he can be charged with a crime.

His crime would most likely be something along the lines of obtaining money by false pretenses, and I do not think the law would see what master-p appears to be doing as him defaulting on debt obligations.

The reason why it is so unlikely that most newbie related scams are not going to be prosecuted is due to the fact that so little evidence is left behind on the newbie related scams, while these larger scams are going to have more evidence of both the crime, and of the identity of the person who committed the crime. Plus the fact that the amounts are much larger in this case verses most newbie scams, as law enforcement is likely not interested in devoting large amounts of resources investigating a $5 petty theft.
There are many newbie scams over 3-4 coins too.But there is nothing that could be done to him if he proves the account sale (which is a lie).Though he won't get a benefit of doubt here cause if he cannot prove himself innocent then the person signing the message with his identity would be himself.

There is no where written in the PGP message that he will be held responsible if he lost the coins due to wallet hack.

He is quite experienced and if he doesn't has any regret then i don't think the warning are going to make him repay.

Most people don't know this, but any time you engage in any exchange of value, you are entering into a contract regardless of paperwork being signed. Of course the paperwork helps establish the parameters of the agreement making litigation much simpler, but that doesn't mean another form of agreement can't be demonstrated to have occurred in a court of law (ie verbal, informal, or otherwise).
If you go legal then all the unregistered companies are going to face trouble and the whole forum is going to get fucked up if the case get's serious or if Interpol is involved. Where are the taxes ? where is the paper work that you are working/promoting some company ? how are you doing it without registering legally ? Bitcoin is shit complex and this way(of going legal) doesn't resolves anything.

This may have already been answered somewhere, but what country is Master-P in?  Is he in the US?
He is probably in Canada .

One thing to learn for sure, what we call trusted DT members are not to be blindly trusted any more.

For what it's worth, my account won't ever be sold for any amount of money.

No such thing as a trusted escrow.

You are wrong, and I will be the one to prove it.

I wouldn't sell my account for 100BTC even... How someone could screw over the community after trying to help it is beyond me. If the account was sold or not doesn't really matter...the original Master-p is responsible in my opinion.

Agreed.  Selling your PGP key is never ok...  It is supposed to prove your identity.  Selling your account as an escrow provider is shady enough, selling your PGP key along with it is downright perpetrating fraud.

I can't believe I even need to state this, but I will never sell my PGP key, forum username, or my public Bitcoin address key.  I will also never act as an (assumed 3rd party) escrow for trades involving myself.  If I ever do any of these things, you can consider this contractual documentation that I will not press charges against anyone who finds me and punches me in the face.

Quoted for future reference (I hope not), can you PGP sign it? Id sign something similar, just because I applaud the notion.

That's exactly how i think too. If someone can do such a thing and sleep well with it, i don't get it. You have to know what will happen and you betray a lot of people then.

I completely agree. I would never sell my account either and mine is much less trusted than yours. But selling a PGP private key is beyond me. Of course master-P is fully responsible for this, regardless of the account sale being real or not.

quoted all .But does it matter's ? If the guy can do such a scammy thing then certainly he doesn't cares about his word or doesn't has any and the quote's are of none use then. Cool

People are getting far too lax and demand everything be easy, and they want someone to promise them everything will be ok and to tuck them in. These things happen and instantly people demand more centralization and some overseer to fix the problem, but you are too blinded by your own compulsion for security to see that centralization is exactly what put you at risk in the first place. Take responsibility for your own trades and researching your trading partners. Build your own REAL trust lists, not based on +1's and -1's but on your knowledge of your trading partner and building your own real networks of trust, not just username profiles.
The best post in the thread. This is why i blamed Moderation in my very first post after he openly declared the sale.

Quoting it for future, you never know it with escrow these days. First QS, then defcon23 then master-p... the forum is getting pretty pathetic.
If you are adding QS for self escrow then why would you exclude TC ?

Wonder who escrowed the account sale...

Stupid joke, but maybe Maidak? Smiley
There was none escrow ..read the thread.

Yes I understand, but it was a joke as I said ... Maidak was one of the most trusted escrows around here, but he scammed people in very similar way as Master-p did.

As I told before it was a 'stupid joke'.

No such thing as a trusted escrow.

Best regards.
maidak was always late in repaying and got pissed with the negs he received.

Sorry that i don't have the time to read the full thread but is the sale of the account confirmed? The real master-P was a great guy so it would be pretty bad when he would have sold his account because it would make him himself a scammer. He would know that the buyer can impersonat him now and he would be liable to damages in my eyes. It would be a pretty dumb move if he acted that way.

He would have allowed a stranger and possible scammer to impersonate him. He would not be able to speak himself out of this then.
Was waiting for your reply .There is still nothing that proves there are two different master-P's involved in this scam. The real owner fails to prove the sale and just wants people to believe his terrible lies.
He was continuously buying/selling from his steam account and says he sold his identity for 1 coin which he could have easily lended and possibly was his 2-4 weeks escrow fees.

The transaction ID he provided

Anyone who sells an account with a lot of trust or that is an escrow is a scammer. Why would anyone buy an account like his other than to scam? Escrowing is a pain to deal with and most of the time you do not make much in tips.
None of his escrow services were for free and he even started charging for account sales lately.

I think that master-p needs to address this issue asap and provide as much information about the trade itself and the buyer to clear his name otherwise I'm afraid to say this looks more likely that master-p has turned into a scammer and that the account was never sold.

master-p you need to prove your innocence!

How can he prove his innocence ? he clearly gave space for the consequences to happen.Though I strongly believe that he is the one who scammed.

Its not fair to make the devs pay us in floz. If we had an agreement to be paid in btc and the btc was sent to the escrow which looks very likely and then the escrow ran off I'd be believing that the devs have done their part of the agreement. If Someone had a deal with the devs to be paid in floz though that's a whole other story. I think the devs should be on hook for that payment.
Maybe they will feel it in their hearts to pay us all in floz but that's highly unlikely. That would double their cost to run the campaign.

Yes my deal with the Dev is complete different story, see this message ..

Alright, so if the OP doesn't respond in the next 48 hours I will count the tweets and pay accordingly at the best of my ability in terms of accuracy.

48 hours from the time of this post is how much time we'll give OP to respond as I haven't received any payment details from him.

Regards

Sorry for the delay of a day that has been very busy and only just remembered this was going on. I have counted retweets and tweets and everyone here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-AMF3yM9MjxzhHKIt0IUZU9WQeWV0pK633HZ-rlb_SI/edit?usp=sharing except one red for failed and one red for being paid in floz should be paid. Amounts on the far right side and addresses on the far left.

This campaign will have to be put on hold until after the holidays as there is just no time to maintain it like it should be ran. Stand by for future updates. Thank you

But did you get paid from the devs in floz yet?

I cannot answer that yet cause the dev wasn't online since a couple of days and i don't want anything to be made public by me.

Was that just an ironical comment?

Nope, 100% real.
Real master-P or the new buyer ?

This was right after he started his account in 2014. He used a purchase from me to build his trust. The likelihood of it being his real dox is very high. IMO if he has no regard for the community then I don't see why I should have any regard for his privacy.
You are speaking about 2014 and this is 2016 ? he might have been moved twice in the mean time.

Secondly if the New Owner refunds the coins then i can accept his account sale if he seriously needed that money. But yes this is something that i will keep in mind. Hard times are very unpleasant.
