Buy the rumor sell the news is a normal dynamic so this action is not off the chart abnormal especially, just one of those things the bull likes to kick you off if it can.  Nature of the game, you dont get to play without bumps along the way really.
The Gold ETF in comparison again I would not rate the ETF as the main bullish trend to that asset.  I'd just point out one giant thing, like inter stellar big really which is at century start China had no gold in its national reserves.  One of the largest most powerful nations with massive dollar reserves but no gold, so for 24 years now they have been a buyer.   Also they wont tell you outright exactly the figures but they became the largest producer in the world also.  Thats a ton of demand in the market and if gold went up the people who buy and dont let go are the biggest reasons.
ETF in BTC will count, but over time and the hold is not a given the ETF has to sell BTC also etc.  Its all alot of rebalance.   My guess today was 5 seconds of thought I might have jumped the gun but I used up 4 figures of wheel spins I shouldn't really be keeping back in a bullish medium term market, guessing where we go down to; anyhow 41k to beat for BTC to really prove something I just used up the spins anyhow.
582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you preffer your dealer talkative or not? on: January 23, 2024, 11:58:50 PM
Both, a good dealer knows when the conversation is welcome but also can keep quiet and just deal when thats preferred also.   Obviously some people want a real person that is a feature of the game setup and a big plus over no real dealer.   Some conversation will just be a waste of time, Im sure it has to be part of the training that a dealer goes silent, reduces their talk or just changes subject when asked.   Often I would find it a distraction and that moment could happen in an instant which normally would be rude but the game is the focus not the distraction of a talkative dealer hence it requires alot of respect towards the player to really work, its what makes a good dealer I guess.
583  Economy / Economics / Re: girl math vs boy math on: January 22, 2024, 06:55:50 PM
I wont say either of you are wrong in that example.   The reason being diversity is a strength, you might well need both.  You are not wrong to save crypto, history shows that better now then the doubts many had a decade ago but even so the volatility in BTC or any crypto is gigantic.  There is a worth to the normal savings, mostly I would state that as flexibility, a reserve or liquidity; if you have fiat bills to pay thats true.
I dont imagine it now but BTC can goto 10k and its not a failure exactly, it would be immense pressure some bad change of law a disastrous administration decision I dont know exactly but extremes in price are possible even while unlikely.  In that context diversity is a positive, I dont recommend anyone to be in BTC 100% as that road has been hard in the past and probably the future.  I favor all perspectives tbh as none are absolutely correct or incorrect.
584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do i handle my first gambling experience on: January 22, 2024, 05:56:27 PM
Half whatever you intended to gamble as your bet and take twice as long in consideration and learning the game.  Give yourself more time to accumulate actual likelihood of winning.   Nobody reads the manual they learn on the job, if thats the case and it probably is for you as it is for most us then you might as ease up on yourself in terms of expectations of winning.  If you gain knowledge and experience its a win, dont take it all too serious.
Stay loose and you are less likely to take injury, more likely to dodge the blows in the first place & you'll win more easily on faster progress when limber not rigid or tense under the burden of a bet too high.   People underestimate the time frame by which they may win, I might as well pass that on but its impossible to say exactly what your particular bias for and against are.  There is the game you must learn both the external and the internal game dialogue you will process while playing as you too are within the game, always be ready to learn is best Smiley
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: January 22, 2024, 05:27:43 PM
Look at this in a big picture maths type way for each part of the equation.   The gambling part is basically a game, the game has a cost to its operation and play.  We all know you can win, profit and come away richer but big picture view Iam merely stating what is the average outcome cold hard case scenarios.  On average a game has a cost to play.    So nothing wrong with playing a game but to borrow money it has to be justified in the use of that borrowed money.
To borrow money also has a cost, you receive the utility on money to use today and tomorrow you will be required to return more then you originally borrowed.    So unfortunately with very slight detail to our consideration, we have cost to borrow and cost to play; there is a big danger of both being negative outcome.
In conclusion we must say no to borrowing money to gamble, it amplifies our risk and our pain on the not win scenario and we must be fair and consider not winning is always at least half the possibilities we face.  Be honest before doubling up a bet, sometimes boring hard way to life is still alot less painful then blind hope.   OP sounds like he is on his way back to a good path and I have faith he will succeed Ive a had a friend do similar while trying to setup a business nothing is easy.
586  Economy / Economics / Re: girl math vs boy math on: January 22, 2024, 05:18:37 PM
A bit cliché its more about those who recognize the worth of working assets over whole generations led to believe just spending money makes you rich.  To own something with high utility is how to stay rich after you spend your cash, I wouldn't say its a gender thing exactly.   Same reasoning between whether women can be engineers or whatever practical job, certainly they are capable its just determination and valuing that job and ability over more retail or modern type economy jobs.
In this scenario, just holding crypto is commodity speculation the criticism could be that the male is more likely to take gambles & is another cliché.

I thought this was relevant, women know your place  Grin  (1938)   To be fair its retrospective and they wont even send you a letter now nevermind a nicely illustrated one.#

The irony to that bit of history would be how much in the war within a few years USA production relied on women in factories doing quite heavy work etc.
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 22, 2024, 05:02:00 PM
Ultimately no as the opinion is heavily swayed by whether you win or not.  What a person does with their own money is really upto them, I tend to think alot of things are a total waste of money and amounts to nil by day end but people do it anyway because it makes them happy so its worth it to them and generally its not for criticism.   Problem with gambling is the money aspect, its famous for people losing more then they can afford hence opening yourself up to criticism which is hard to refute as if you cant afford it then you dont do it and that to is universal and fair enough.
588  Economy / Speculation / Re: 112 days waiting for bitcoin halving!! on: January 22, 2024, 01:35:35 PM
The BTC price is still below 7 day average and until it can beat that average, regain positive momentum I presume we trend downwards with some further selling occuring.  Its a shorter term effect, for some its helpful in providing a lower price and this is the purpose of the market to help the greatest volume of trade to occur.

This is just since Friday, we follow a downtrend from Jan 8th roughly.  It appears like it might have beaten it but in effect we are still stuck to that course.
589  Economy / Economics / Re: richdad poordad has no more guide after achieving freedom on: January 21, 2024, 11:59:30 PM
I think from what I've heard you mostly do one thing which is retain your own household and operate your assets mostly as a landlord which brings in income and has various tax deductibles so you profit in that way.   Also its a positive in that you will never be cursed with too much cash at any time that has to be managed, just the property itself.  Stick to what you know is the most basic advice possible, most people know their own community and town, what land might expand in value or not and various sources of demand in land use I guess is not so complicated but to an outside party this might be far harder to figure out then someone who has lived in that town their whole lives.    He says alot of other things but imo its mostly about invest or involve yourself in what you know, what you love and can handle the details of and most can manage the various jobs on housing or sourcing the people who will do that job etc.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do i handle my first gambling experience on: January 21, 2024, 11:46:18 PM
I was gambling my whole life so the question seems strange to me.  It shouldnt be too much of a shock to the system of anyone whose played normal games before or went to a fun fair as many games resemble some kind of risk reward which is a very similar idea.   Go slow on the gambling amounts, be sure of the game win or lose before risking anything you will miss especially.   Dont ask us, learning is half the fun surely.
591  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has anybody expected this? on: January 21, 2024, 09:23:29 PM
42.2k is not far away thats about a weekly average.  If we can average above that I can believe BTC is acting positively and regaining some of the recent losses.      Otherwise I think we're drawn lower for just this moment until we resolve sellers, probably at that lower price  it swings back to favor those who wish to acquire and accumulate more then the profit taking thats been a feature since the recent high.
It is fair to note we've come a long way, not all sellers appear at the same time now might be the first time people who bought in the teens start to sell or at least rearrange their holdings.   Generally this whole year seems likely to continue to be an opportunity to buy.
592  Economy / Speculation / Re: ETF Day 1 Flows = $625M Positive on: January 21, 2024, 05:44:17 PM
ETF arent supposed to run any premium or discount, its very tradable and much more efficient in that way.   I think over time we gain more people involved due to that efficiency, maybe Im a person wanting to hold my capital in BTC for this quarter and I dont want to be trapped in a web of discount and high fees like GBTC used to be like.  The performance from BTC going up disguised some of that but of course BTC fell so people will not forget being trapped like that.
Its a see-saw situation, imbalance will confuse the market overall we are seeing alot of doji candles as these many orders come into market flow especially from funds previously tied up.   We are just reaching past a small downtrend today but I presume this is something we work out on the weekly bars it will take time to digest all this imbalance.  I still presume some selling perhaps in disappointment but its just the usual hype merry go round not a solid direction indication either way.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: January 21, 2024, 05:11:50 PM
In the immortal words of Tony Soprano, you dont S*** where you eat for good reasons.   Dont try to mix oil with water, it doesnt especially work and on general principle gambling while at work should be underlined with heavy caution.   I know some people will do it anyway but since you gamble the money you earn, to compromise one with the other is potentially dangerous and you wont have any money to gamble if the job should be lost by gambling and heavily distracted during work.
Some people could balance this perhaps but its best to presume you wont or it would develop into a negative not worth it.  Add in the other side which is just general balance of not gambling all the time, take time out to work, rest not gamble too much is massively arguable and good advice imo

Moral of the story: don't save money for more than one month.

I dont disagree overall, the world is attempting to force people into more active investment.    Holding money in a bank is a kind of investment though very passive, historically the bank would in effect invest on your behalf and there was some risk in that.  That might be less true now.
We have a world with a large bias to debt which has its problems and might one day trip over with economies becoming far more favorable to hard money economics over the current easy money meta.

My main point I would change in OP statement is instead of months, change this to years.   Ideally a person should retain a years savings not this idea of mere months.  If you dont have cash and require it fast short term the cost of that cash required can be very costly. Its better to have larger margins of error, very few people are so perfect as to only require a month or so of spare cash.  All of us can get ill at some point etc.
595  Economy / Economics / Re: What class of an investor are you? on: January 20, 2024, 11:51:51 PM
I tend to overthink things so I would classify my involvement as sometimes negative in waiting too long and timing a trade badly.  Be involved dont over think it but also be cautious in your approach selling is ok too.

if you wait to make a decision until you know everything, you might never invest.

So my frame of reference is remembering my first encounter with Bitcoin.    Before I started mining Bitcoin I saw it a few times over the years and never got involved seriously, maybe I can call the mistake not investing enough time and thought to the concept and if I had I would have reached the conclusion sooner.   I wont go over that mistake continually but suffice to say I did eventually decide to be involved years after I could have first started holding BTC as a very new idea reading about it on a Tech forum I was too skeptical by far.
However more usefully I would say in regards to the future again the world will change alot and peoples attitudes to various assets should be active and well considered, not just once but many times to adjust for all you dont know and just generally how the world will change in future.  We will all do better with an open mind and challenge our first beliefs on any valid investment etc.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: January 20, 2024, 11:42:56 PM
Stealing either way has to be paid for and reversed in its betrayal of trust.  The proceeds being used to gamble doesn't negate anything even if it was a win.  If its an adult really you should deal with the matter as if it was theft by anyone, reason being they will just repeat the theft if they dont pay for it.   If its a child at the very least they should repay the value taken, a days work at least and if it was a harsh punishment a weeks work of various tasks that need doing.  If you do any less with a child you are causing future problems because they will go on to steal from almost anyone else if they are prepared to steal from their own family, its a real danger they fall into a cycle of failure if left alone to learn stealing works out fine.
597  Economy / Speculation / Re: Post-ETF effect: Has Bitcoin Bottomed yet? on: January 20, 2024, 11:17:06 PM
Buy on strengths rather then the hope of ceased weaknesses.   We can go sideways while not really resolving anything, at present I'd put us into a downtrend until proven otherwise.  Reasoning being multiple fronts or questions over momentum and resolution of the selling as OP  mentions.  So since the 8th of Jan its possible to draw in a downtrend that though challenged has not yet been negated fully, wait for that to play out before assuming we can resume upwards.  I think we face multiple hurdles in that respect still.
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 20, 2024, 10:48:13 PM
Cashout enough that all your bills are paid would be the ideal then you have no regrets left to have.   The highest value of money ultimately relates to security and then it becomes about luxury and maybe other aspirations but the greatest cost or worth in money is the money you dont have and absolutely need to continue.  Dont deny yourself the security of knowing everything going forward is paid for, if you are lucky enough to be in that situation increase your standing in that way and gamble or consider the rest as a viable gamble situation to play out however your strategy Smiley
599  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine African countries using Bitcoin to pay salaries, on: January 20, 2024, 05:04:02 PM
Governments and their process have an obvious bias toward politics sometimes its just corruption and failure, laziness in the system that benefits the employees over those who are recipients of the service and this includes central banking I think.   In private business with very large companies I've seen it first hand this also can happen, a large company has a strength to suppress competition and this can lead to similar failure to serve the customer.   However usually private business is undercutting each other but with a natural currency, the national debt the fixed rate forced by central bank its hard for a market to stop failure before its too late.   Im uncertain if BTC can help Africa or any other developing market especially but it should at least offer alternatives to those who have none, its some life line Im just not sure how much.
600  Economy / Speculation / we've only just begun on: January 20, 2024, 01:32:26 PM
This is not the style I have become accustomed to.  While Im not complaining, this isnt wildly bullish just yet its still BTC whipping around up and down creating those waves that some people like and throw others off.   4 out of the last 5 weekly bars have been Doji candles which in majority is mostly representative of indecision, so we should view BTC as still spinning its wheels.  Warming up if you like but its not properly moved as it can and does do on occasion so Im yet to be impressed by its style or lack of so far.   But we've only just begun.
