581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bull run best time to promote Bitcoin related affiliate programs? on: November 13, 2023, 03:40:50 PM
I feel that when Bitcoin is reaching peak prices, all news sites cover the news. As a result, lot of new users come to Bitcoin. As a result, this can be a good time to invest in promotion of crypto affiliate programs. The chances for conversions will be higher as Bitcoin popularity will already be in mind of people.

It depends on the crypto affiliate program you choose to promote, but if it's legal and you can persuade people to sign up, you have a good chance of success. The bull market tends to attract a large audience, and the key to a successful affiliate program is attracting many people to join or sign up, earning you commissions. With the anticipated bull market, people will be exploring various opportunities and services. Just ensure that what you're promoting is truly beneficial to them rather than just a way to take their money.
582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 13, 2023, 02:07:56 PM
~~~threatening that any of the gambling shops they have pasted the photo of their brother should they find their brother allowed to gamble in the shops they will sue the gamble shop owner to court as one that is abetting their brother's compulsive gambling lifestyle.
This doesn't make sense----how can a gambling shop be sued for letting people play? They're a business, and winning is essential for their profitability. They welcome anyone, regardless of whether the gambler has a problem or not. Threatening legal action against a gambling shop could have serious consequences for the addicted gambler's family. They might end up being counter-sued and have to pay damages. It seems like they don't fully grasp the situation, perhaps out of desperation.
583  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: November 13, 2023, 05:12:06 AM
Looking good, @owengtam09! You only need the Suns to win to make it perfect.
Unfortunately Suns lose on this, they were up at the start of 4th quarter but they weren't good enough with their defense allowing the OKC to have their big run.
Yeah, I thought they are gonna win since they were in control at the start of the 4th quarter, but seemed unable to find their shooting in the 4th, outscored by the OKC 31-13. that's unacceptable. Booker and Durant are the ones that could really work on this team, Bradley is still figuring out how to fit.
It's a good thing you didn't bet on the Warriors; they've been so inconsistent in their last two games. But as for me, I'm still backing them as who knows, they might end their cold streak with the game against the Timberwolves. Anyway, the Suns vs. OKC is currently a close game, but since your bet is on the moneyline, I'd say you'll get a win on that.
Again, Warriors lose big time, that's two in a row already, Curry scored    38 points but still not enough to even make it a close game. 3rd quarter was suppose to be the quarter they are dominating, it was on favor by the visiting team.
A disappointing loss. I believe I have no more business with the Warriors. I won't be backing them in the following games until they address their issues. While Curry has been producing like an MVP, the impact on the team is not positive. I'd rather see him score at least 20 points per game with Klay and Wiggins getting into the groove every time.
585  Economy / Economics / Re: Foreign reserves on: November 12, 2023, 10:59:10 AM
Foreign reserves are the foreign currencies reserved by the government of a nation. If the reserve is decreasing, the central bank increase the price of their local currency leading to inflation. A positivity in the value of the foreign reserves indicates good economy.
I'm not well-versed in economic matters, but I believe this is a mistaken assumption. How can they increase the value of a local currency? Do you mean an increase in the quantity, like printing more money? Central banks can do that, and even the US did so during the pandemic by printing more money.
The US printed more than $3 trillion in 2020 alone. Here’s why it matters today
586  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoins do ordinary people have? on: November 12, 2023, 09:30:42 AM
Would it be a satisfactory quantity if I had 0.1?
That depends on you. If you are satisfied with it, then that is your goal for investing with that amount of Bitcoin. Everyone probably has different satisfaction levels when it comes to investment, but I think having 1 BTC is quite significant. For the average investor, holding it for the long term could bring happiness. One day, if Bitcoin reaches $1 million per coin, you'll be a millionaire at that time.
587  Other / Meta / Re: I don't have good account security. on: November 12, 2023, 08:15:32 AM
Like others suggest, secure your bitcointalk account by staking it; that's the only security measure I've found necessary here on the forum. Recovering your account takes time, and some may never recover their accounts. It's better to prevent your account from being hacked.
Not necessarily by changing your password every time, as that might lead to forgetting your password too. Instead, avoid downloading unknown applications that could potentially steal your passwords. Also, be cautious when checking the URL of the site you are visiting. For this forum, it should be 'https://bitcointalk.org'.....no more, no less, as there are fake sites out there.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 12, 2023, 01:52:42 AM
LA Clippers 0-3 now with James Harden. The Clippers already have a strong team so it's hard to see how James Harden fits in. Clippers doing well without Harden and his style might cause more problems than solutions. Maybe he could come off the bench to help but that's not guaranteed if he doesn't agree. If Jame Harden don't want to go bench trading him might be an option again. Lmao. Even without Harden the Clippers are still a top team especially when Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are fit and playing.
Personally, I was initially skeptical about this trade, and I still don't understand why the Clippers management wanted Harden so badly. However, the regular season in the NBA is still in its early stages, and I wouldn't rule out the possibility that Harden and other Clippers players will be able to improve team chemistry well enough to perform well at the end of this regular season.
I think it has something to do with the new stadium they are planning to build in the next 1-2 years. Kawhi and Paul Goerge may have expiring contracts along with Westbrook. Who knows who will still be with the team once the stadium is built but the owner is trying to have a lot of superstars on the roster IMO.
The presence of three superstars (Harden, Kawhi, and PG) is already enough to excite the fans. What fans really want now is to see them winning, especially since they were already successful before the James Harden trade. The gamble doesn't seem to be working well, but let's see how this unfolds as we are still in the early stage of the season.
Let's consider the Irving trade last season; the team initially struggled with chemistry, but now the Mavericks have been playing really well. Kyrie and Luka have found the right chemistry and know how to complement each other.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: November 12, 2023, 12:59:47 AM
Okay, so for tomorrow's games, I'm eyeing two expected entertaining matchups.
1- Bucks vs. Magic: The Bucks might still be without Lillard, facing the home team Magic who are currently on a 2-game losing streak. The Bucks recently lost to the Pacers; will they bounce back with a win here? I'm leaning towards the Magic, but with points handicap +3.5.
2- Warriors vs. Cleveland: Curry and his teammates fell to Mitchell and company on November 3rd. Will they bounce back strong as they play at home? Well, I guess it's a no-brainer; taking the -3.5 Warriors is the easy call here.
I'll be tailing you on the Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers pick!
I guess I will be riding with the Warriors too, I waited for the line to move and it happened, Warriors is now currently -4.5 from -3.5, so I guess this is a good sign that they'll win and cover the spread.
I didn't see magic pick earlier although, although, I might have hesitated a bit on that given how the Bucks played yesterday, but it looks like you made a very solid call with that pick as well too, Orlando Magic have played a solid game so far, and currently hold a 15 point lead at halftime so with a +3.5 advantage for them, your bet looks like good one to go unless there is some drastic change in momentum, like a couple fouls and Ts have already been issued to some players from the Magics, Banchero and Anthony Black, so emotions could be flying around like it was towards the end of the half.
The Magic consistently have an answer every time the Bucks make a good run, and it doesn't look good for the Bucks. Once again, Giannis is shouldering the heavy load, while the Magic have been sharing the ball effectively, with Banchero, Wagner's brothers, and Suggs doing the damage. Additionally, the Bucks' free-throw percentage is significantly lower compared to the Magic's. I believe the home team will win outright.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A tip for staying resposible while gambling. on: November 11, 2023, 02:49:02 PM
``````but for those who are new to gambling and not able to control themselves or play with something reasonable amount.

They need to stop; they don't have a place in gambling as they are essentially destroying their lives. It's not just them but also their families and the people around them who are affected. Irresponsible gamblers have no place in gambling, as it's all about managing risks while still finding entertainment in the game. When a person becomes too desperate to make money through gambling, likely due to financial problems, it only leads to more significant issues. So, it's not really helpful; prevention is always better than cure, anyway.
591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wedding expenses and party celebrations with Bitcoin money. on: November 11, 2023, 01:51:42 PM
First of all, why do this post?

Although these are personal, these two mentioned days were the most important of my life.

 If I hadn't invested in Bitcoin I might not have seen this happy day and party with my friends. Writing about bitcoin and bitcoin forums may never end.
is this a true story? What i wanna hear from you is that "Have you truly planned this wedding or just accidentally" because it is cleared what you said that if you hadn't invest and earn in bitcoin you will never see this happy day, so I see it odd for the story and for your Girlfriend (that now is your wife) that you will not marry her if this increase does not happened.
Sometimes people seize the opportunities presented to them. Perhaps they hadn't planned to get married until the OP earned a decent income from his investment. But since the opportunity came, the marriage happened. I think we should just be happy with that and not question whether the story is true or not, as surely the OP would not claim it's just a made-up story.

sounds like another merit farming story that we have seen many times in the past.

If you consider it a merit farming story, simply refrain from giving merits. Why is the merit system such a significant issue, anyway? Some members with extra merits might even give them for non-substantial posts, or even to posts from signature campaigns receiving weekly payments. Why not question that as well?
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some things you should always avoid while gambling ? on: November 08, 2023, 01:24:40 PM
Let us discuss in this thread the things one should completely avoid while gambling. Here are some suggestions according to me :

1) Do not gamble in work area : It is not ethical to do so. Your employer is paying you to work for him for certain hours. If you waste these hours for gambling, it is a bad habit.

Yes that's a big no if you are an employee but there are people who really don't follow that simple rules.

There's a thread here regarding this topic and you can read plenty of replies from gamblers' opinion.

Who among you here is gambling at work?

2) Do not take loan to gamble: Some young guys are so irresponsible that they take loans to gamble. It is a very bad move and can even produce life threatening conditions in future when loan recover agents knock your door.

Although this is not advisable, for me, as long as I can pay the loan and I would gamble only what I can afford to lose, I guess it's okay.

We have different ways of managing our funds, and I believe what's bad is if we don't know how to handle our loans.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to start betting on sports? on: November 08, 2023, 12:50:30 PM
Don't forget to have it in the back of your head not to be addicted to gambling, because once you are addicted to it as a new gamblers it will lead you to regret why you learned how to bet sports.

Whatever type of gambling someone engages in, if they can't control their addiction, it will always lead to regrets. That's why it's important not only to learn how to play the game but also how to gamble responsibly. There's a lot to learn while you're into sports betting. Even experienced gamblers can make mistakes sometimes that could lead to addiction. So, there's no guarantee that a gambler will never be addicted as we are only human, and our emotions can be weak sometimes.
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Would you Like Your Pension Paid in Bitcoin? on: November 07, 2023, 03:41:00 PM
A pension fund is for security when you get old. You'll receive it from the government or a private institution on a monthly basis to fund your needs. So, I don't think we should put that at risk. Although we can say that Bitcoin is a good investment that could potentially increase the value of the pension received, not everyone is willing to take that risk, especially if a person does not have many income sources after retirement.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: November 07, 2023, 12:25:13 PM
If I'm not mistaken, there is also a huge mistake in the first Pacquaio vs Marquez fight, my recollection is that Manny scored 3 knockdown in the first round and the score should be 10-7. And if the judges score the fight correct, Manny could have won that first fight.
No the score should be 10-6, while one of the judges missed the count of the knockdowns so he only scored 10-7.

Refer to my post above, I have shared the article of that specific fight with complete information.

There should have been a protest, and Manny should have been declared the winner since it's automatic that the scoring should be 10-6 when there are 3 knockdowns in a round. Team Marquez could not counter-protest that, but what's done is done. Manny was still the better fighter in terms of overall accomplishments in boxing, despite Marquez retiring after he knocked Pacman out cold and not giving a rematch.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 07, 2023, 11:41:30 AM
Finally, the Celtics got their first season loss. The Celtics collapsed in overtime. Not gonna lie I'm surprised that the Wolves beat the Nuggets and the Celtics! The Wolves have handed two undefeated teams their first loss. It's awesome to be a Timberwolves fan. ANT can be MIP dis season. What do you think 🤔

They have to prove themselves in the playoffs, though. However, we must respect what the Wolves have accomplished so far, as they've shown that Boston is not an unbeatable team. One thing I've noticed about the Wolves is that, thus far, Gobert is posting great statistics. So, he may end up with better output this season compared to the last, and the Wolves certainly need that.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: November 06, 2023, 12:53:33 PM
Looks like the Cavaliers did end up beating the Warriors. I’m shocked. I still don’t understand how the Cavs who were 2-4 managed to be the favorites over the 5-1 Warriors, let alone how they ended up actually winning.  You’d think Stephen Curry was injured or something, but other than Draymond Green getting kicked in the balls it seemed like their team was all healthy.

I also noticed yesterday that the Cavs were the favorites over GSW. Luckily I was so busy yesterday that I wasn't able to do some more research so I did not make any bets. All of the GSW stars played while the Cavs were enjoying a home-court advantage. So just today I did some research out of curiosity on the odds yesterday. The Cavs while playing at home were actually winless and it's their first win today. And GSW were also undefeated on the road so today is their first loss.
It was listed as questionable, but he did play. However, it didn't help much as he was struggling with his shooting, just like CP3, who only finished with 5 points on 2/10 shooting. It would have been acceptable if he had contributed more assists, but he only managed 2 in this game.

I believe the Warriors will bounce back tomorrow, even though they are playing in a back-to-back game. They are facing the Pistons, who are also in a back-to-back game and recently suffered a loss to the Suns. The Warriors should be able to secure this win.

So at the moment, only Boston remained flawless. The first 5 are capable of scoring in any game, it's just crazy, it is so damn hard to guard all of them from point guard to center. I hope they remain healthy throughout the whole season.

The Nuggets were flawless prior to their defeat by the Wolves. The Celtics' next game will also be against the Wolves. Will their flawless record be ruined?
598  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the right age for financial stability? on: November 06, 2023, 12:05:02 PM
Typically, we realize the importance of financial stability when we plan to start a family. Building a family means securing their future, especially if we have kids. We aim to provide them with a good education and a comfortable life. When we're young, it's crucial to take finances seriously. However, if we become too focused on money, we might forget to enjoy life while we're free and have the support of our parents.

But once we reach a more serious stage, usually around 30 years old, it's essential to concentrate on our future and avoid making unwise decisions that could harm our financial prospects. Investing is the best way to achieve financial stability, but it's a gradual process. Initially, you need to learn, often by working for a company, to understand how businesses operate and how the business world functions.
599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the second Satoshi appears? on: November 05, 2023, 03:02:44 PM
Right. Satoshi Nakamoto created Bitcoin. He's a genius. Bitcoin systems and communities are working perfectly, and everyone is crazy about Bitcoin. But what happens if someone creates a blockchain that is faster and better than Bitcoin and puts it out into the world without any greed, as Satoshi did? Are people going to ditch Bitcoin away? In that moment, we're going to see a blockchain that's performing better than Bitcoin and is perfect for decentralization that everyone emphasizes. What will happen?

Anything can happen in this free world, and the competition is fierce. If we come across a new project that's better than Bitcoin, people might invest in it, and Bitcoin could gradually lose its popularity until the market declines. But that's a worst-case scenario, my friend. Personally, I don't worry about the future because it's all uncertain. My advice is to enjoy the benefits Bitcoin offers while we can. If the time comes for it to be replaced, we'll have enough to invest in a new project.

Why do you consider that the worst case scenario? If that happens, we should be happy because we will get a more perfect version of bitcoin that will bring greater benefits to us. After all, Satoshi created bitcoin because he was fed up with the way governments ran the world, the devaluation of fiat currencies...so he created bitcoin to overcome those shortcomings. And if someone inherits Satoshi's thinking to create something more perfect, why do we consider that a bad thing?
But you're right, that hasn't happened yet and we only have bitcoin for now, so enjoy bitcoin while waiting for a better version of bitcoin.

OP asked if people would get rid of their Bitcoin if something like this happened. I think it's the worst situation for investors because just imagine, Bitcoin is already worth more than $600 billion in marketcap, and all that money could disappear if a new cryptocurrency or a better one is created.

I'm open to making changes to improve the system, but we should also be prepared for when that time comes. We're not just holding onto Bitcoin for no reason. It's important to get our investment back and maybe even make some profit before Bitcoin loses its value.
