61  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: June 20, 2014, 10:13:20 AM
Can someone give me a link to where I can download the 'Padrino' firmware?  Thanks in advance.

There is a link to it on page 50

Awesome, thanks Smiley  I had seen that link, but in context it was not clear if that was the real f/w or not.  Thanks for the confirmation Smiley

Well, apparently, this image linked on page 50 does not support October units.  My Oct Jupiter works fine with the unified 1.01 from the KnC website, but if I install this f/w image, the miner won't start - and if I start it by hand it complains of EEPROM errors or something to that effect.

Oh well Sad

sorry but ya either had a bad flash or did something wrong cause i have 2 oct jups on that fw from that link Smiley cheers

Well, I tried reflashing it 3 times with identical results, whereas reinstalling the official release version works like a charm every time.  I don't know what the issue is, but it definitely doesn't work with my hardware.

I can confirm it works with my October jupiter.  IIRC it works with both October and November.

Once installed you'll see in the web ui under the 'Advanced' tab the October and November settings examples like below

Code:
General 4 Module Jupiter guidance:

       October: -0.0879 and 0x231 - 680Gh/s

       November: 0.0000 and 0x335 - 940Gh/s

When using custom clocks in the 0x range, from time to time
applying settings can result in VRM faults on the Status page, if so
please reboot miner to test settings.

do you have any other mods or files changing any setting?  if so restore to stock and try firmware again.

The "Spondoolies hero of the day" medal goes to user Klondike_bar, for discovering a problem of high error rate on his machine. We released a fix (1.4.3) that should bring the HW error rate down from ~8% to 2%.

Please update ASAP and let me know if the fix works.

my HW errors on firmware version 1.4.2 settled down to about 5%

I will try 1.4.3 and report back tomorrow with results.

thanks zvisha and klondike_bar

BTW, what did klondike_bar discover?

Found my "Time to Choose Shipping or hosting, which will it be?" Email.

Quote
As a member of our special SP30 group buy, you are eligible to choose weather you
would like to have your unit shipped to you or sent to our partner's data center in the US.

Can we dare to dream early? No... doubtful. That be too much to ask for.

got same email also.

what to do...? what to do...?

I think I will take the hosting option, but I like to see one in real life.
as I've ordered 3 maybe I'll host 2 and take one.
65  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 11, 2014, 01:09:36 PM

hi zvisha,

Thanks for new firmware.

I upgraded first SP10 miner to 1.4.2 and worked fine

then tried it on another SP10 and got message below

Code:
Beginning upgrade 1.4.2. Please wait, this can take up to 1 minute.
Downloading url:http://firmware.spondoolies-tech.com/release/download
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing 'Spondoolies Software'
Upgrading 1.4.2 to 1.4.2 ...Cannot move u-boot.img to u-boot.old

any idea why and how to fix?

EDIT.  tried second time and worked.  Grin

Hi all.
As you seen from the pictures today the SP30 boards have arrived, and I am starting to work on its FW.
From this moment on Remo (remo@) will be handling the customer support and the SP10 releases.
I am grateful for all the kind words I got on this forum.

It does not mean that Spondoolies will stop developing SP10 FW.
In the next FW version we will actually add 3 new and very exciting features Smiley

when is next firmware released?

I love surprises  Shocked Grin

thanks for the update and sexy asic-porn

I'm pretty sure that screen command needs to be installed and implemented correctly to display cgminer like screenshot above right.
No rush, if it could be done for a future firmware upgrade would be great.

Cheers

I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong, people) that cgminer needs to be compiled with "ncurses" support in order to generate the interface you are wanting.  "Screen" allows for textual 'multitasking' in a CLI environment, and is useful for running a CLI-based program in the 'background' on a single SSH session.

https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer (search for ncurses)

This is true.
I will see if I can add it next image.

thanks zvisha this would be fantastic
69  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: June 08, 2014, 04:31:47 PM
I don't think cgminer can be viewed in ssh, it would be nice thou.

for some reason screen command isn't installed.
could dev team please include 'screen' command configured to view cgminer in a future update of the firmware.

BTW, minepeon did have screen command working with cgminer and cgminer could be viewed by typing 'screen -r' in ssh session.

Hi
Do the following
Enter the ssh.
1) spond-manager stop  # stop mining
2) miner_gate_arm > /dev/null &                     # start miner-gate into /dev/null
3) /etc/bin/cgminer --config /etc/cgminer.conf & # start cgminer
Hi zvisha,

thanks for the reply.

your code does work well, but only showing accepted shares scrolling up the screen and occasionally you see the miner speed flashed on bottom line as you can see in the screenshot below left.  But is it possible to see cgminer like the screenshot below right, where you can see [A]accepted/[R]rejected/[HW]hardware-errors

I'm able to access the shell, but how does one view the CGMINER screen while it is hashing? And to exit it, restart it while in the shell? I do like the graphical interface since it does have all you need, but more or less out of curiosity. Thanks.

If i'm not mistaken to see cgminer you have to type "cgminer -dr". To exit what? Cgminer? The shell window?

> what size rack are you using?
24U

> how many SP10's are you running in the Ucoustic rack?
1 SP10. Plus an S1, S2, Jupiter, and misc small miners.

> how's the rack managing the temperature of the SP10's?
Very well. It has an internal temperature sensor which adjusts the fan speed of the cabinet based on the cooling requirement. The cabinet can handle up to 7.2kW of heat.

> are you running the SP10's on 'turbo mode'?
No, but the rack could handle it.  Due to power limitations I'm running the SP10 in normal mode.

> Lastly, what's the price of the rack you have?
It's expensive.  I paid the list price on the web page, plus customs import duty. But where it is located it had to be quiet, discreet, and secure (the cabinet is lockable). It's in an "office" type of environment and I didn't want anyone interfering with my rig.

thanks for quick reply.

if you're willing it would be nice to see some photos of your setup  Shocked
72  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: June 05, 2014, 03:26:35 AM
The noise complaints are numerous. So why doesn't Spondoolies address this issue and make an alternate version in a 2U rack size? I'm sure they would sell more units if they weren't so loud.

I thought my cointerra was obnoxious. Unless you have a room at the far end of your basement, this is not for you. I was really hoping to let it vent out the window. It's just to damn loud.
My SP10 is in a quiet rack cabinet:
http://www.acoustiproducts.com/en/ucoustic_active.asp

I can't hear the SP10 at all, even standing next to the cabinet.

Hi Zelek,

what size rack are you using?
how many SP10's are you running in the Ucoustic rack?
how's the rack managing the temperature of the SP10's?
are you running the SP10's on 'turbo mode'?

Lastly, what's the price of the rack you have? if you don't mind me asking.

thanks

Just a FYI, for anyone who is worried about the reliabilty & stability of these units:

Thats in a non-airconditioned ambient variable from 10-25°C

It just keeps chugging away.

Hi Biffa,

what interface are you using to display your stats like above?

Q1/Q2 has now passed and KNC hasn't give any indication of shipping anytime soon

Q1/Q2 has now NOT passed. End of Q2 is June 30. Its the beginning of June here. What is the date where you are ?

sorry my mistake  Embarrassed

I guess I am stupid after all  Tongue

then there's still a chance you'll get you killer Neptune on time
hey, really not against you and I do hope you (and other Neptune customers waiting) get your Neptune on time and over spec.

I think he's serious...  Huh
are you s1gs3gv?

You *do* know what a SIGSEGV is, right ? Its very serious !

~L)L~

A 'segmentation fault' ? actually nope, don't know
that's gone over top of my head  Undecided

so why the stupid question ?

the stupid question was for the stupid remark, 'killer box delivered on time soon'

Q1/Q2 has now passed and KNC hasn't give any indication of shipping anytime soon

BTW, I'm still a KNC Titan customer only because of no refund policy
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 03, 2014, 05:34:37 PM

Well, my commiserations Helmax. If you hadn't fallen under the spell of the various self serving people here spreading FUD about KNC, you would still have your Neptune order(s) and be looking forward to a killer box delivered on time soon.

comedian alert above  Cheesy

LOL

I think he's serious...  Huh

are you s1gs3gv?

If yes, you are the last KNC happy customer left here.

http://www.coindesk.com/how-roger-ver-hacked-what-he-did-stop-it/

Maybe it's time to consider doing something similar. Alberto stole between 7000-10000 BTC, 1% of this would be between 70-100 BTC - up to $50,000.
I wouldn't mind giving 1% of my recovered funds to anyone who would provide information that would led to his arrest. Hell, I wouldn't mind giving 5%, that would amount to at least $180k if everyone was on board.

Alberto: http://bitcoinexaminer.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/The-BDT-Fiasco-mod.png

+1

I'm in to offer 5% or an attractive reward towards information that successfully leads to his arrest.
