61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: June 22, 2016, 06:55:48 AM
I have always really liked the way this coin works, I think it has great use possibilities.
It is good to hear some positive information.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: June 22, 2016, 06:48:22 AM
Pulled the latest from github and ran ./run.sh and my wallet is empty. The history tab is also empty. Importing the seed creates another empty wallet.

The console has these errors every once in a while:

2016/06/20 21:17:09 GetWalletBalance: ID NOT FOUND: id=
2016/06/20 21:17:09 GetWalletBalance: ID NOT FOUND: id=

Problem?

I have also had much trouble trying to get things to work, I have given up for a long time now.
I need an easy to use system that works with easy to follow instructions that work.
I have wanted to buy into this coin in a reasonable way but have to wait, and I have been patiently waiting a very long time now.

There is a chance to fix a mistake that has been made, thankfully there was a delay for the funds to be released.
Eth is still in its infancy the wallets are beta wallets so its effectively in beta stage still for a long while yet. Anything needing to be fixed should be, especially within this period, which has still many months to go.
If anyone is allowed to do what has been done and get away with it would be inconceivable madness and would show incredible weakness in etherium, and would be an absolute worse case outcome.

The longer you keep running this charade the worse it gets, hardforks are weekly events in crypto lol just ask the exchange owners.

fork this asshole thief out of existence and move on, I can not believe they are debating this.
exactly

exactly +1

Let's make this clear, to the hacker:

Being decentralized means being in the power of people, not a directive board or in the code, you just stole 3.6 million ether but for nothing because you will not be able to withdraw you dumb, you can't take any legal action because people (51%) did not authorized your theft, and you said you will sue? LOL yes, sue us all 10k investors,  you are speaking only fantasies.  Cheesy

Then to slock it and ethereum team:

Ethereum should make a hard fork and return all ether to DAO holders, that was just a buggy code giving away money to a robber without a reason, the people behind this DAO (investors) never authorized that DAO split, otherwise I would think of an INSIDE job and I would call you all scammers, slock.it and Ethereum, and with more reason now that slock it is closing, if you don't make the roll back this will look like an scam by you.

Agree.
Letting anyone get away with this would be madness and the most detrimental outcome.

what is the latest ether mist version and where can one download it ? i have 0.5.2
but its so slow to sync
used to be faster
Geth 1.4.6 "EDGE" aims to solve the synchronization issues resulting from this newly found heterogeneity: it introduces a lot more download concurrency to avoid bottlenecks caused by badly connected remote machines, and also introduces adaptive quality-of-service tuning to make peer selection less aggressive for users with more restricted connectivity.

The result is a newly polished sync mechanism that can churn out a 7-8MB/s download speed in the current Ethereum main network (if your connectivity allows it), but also provide a solid and stable stream for all users, verified for as low as EDGE connections (440ms latency, 200 kbps upstream, 220kbps downstream).

I am using 0.7.4 (Beta 18), the mist wallet. It takes a long time to update and it tells me there is a more up to date geth.
I understand geth is in the download and part of the mist wallet.
I don't understand how to update geth separately and if I should, maybe just wait till the next wallet release, it would then include it I expect.
Are there instructions on how to just update the geth part without messing anything up?

Any advise please.
i can tell you what i just did
no quarentie it works for you too
i downloaded the geth "edge" from the link he/she gave us then started it ( my antivir blocked it so i had to alowe it) then i had it run
and started mist like always
and it was real fast this time
when it opened .... all my ether are still there
hope that helps

oh and make sure you have a keystore backup
copie that file just to be sure you can restore if anything happens

Thanks for help, I'll have a look when I get some time.

68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: April 24, 2016, 02:55:26 PM
Ways need to come to fruition to use to spend the coins in the real world, I thought medical marijuana was a good example and possibility but sellers need to be able to easily accept the coin and convert it to another coin or cash. You have to make it easy for someone who is selling something to use. Even if its things that don't require anonymity to start with.

It may be common things that people would like to have anonymity to purchase for whatever reason but if nothings set up how can it be used. SO THE ABILITY NEEDS TO BE INTEGRATED.

Supercoin gives the ability to use CRYPTO CASH OVER THE INTERNET AT LIGHTENING SPEED.

69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: April 19, 2016, 11:43:33 AM
I'm quite sure most here want the success of supercoin, it has many attributes that can allow it to be succesfull. The problem is that nothing seems to be happening with it. It needs to have uses. None seem to exist and there doesn't seem to be any effort to create them.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: April 15, 2016, 06:38:10 AM
Doesn't look like much has been happening.
Connections need to be made to have use for this coin, whats the point if you can't use it for anything.
Is anything being done to advance the use of this coin?

Looking at the chart it looks like Etherium is trying to mount the launch pad for blast off.
Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Is there a tutorial on how to setup an Eth wallet on windows??

I downloaded win64-0-5-1 & it installed but I don't see it downloading the blockchain like in the BTC wallet.

And I sent abit of Eth from my mining pool & it still hasn't showed in 3 days.............the wallet has been running the whole time to sync up,but nothing yet.

It says "looking for Peers" but never finds any...........

You may need to force sync the time. Try it if you haven't already.

How do you do that??

Just goto the time on windows where it shows you the time and date double click it, get to the properties window for it and press on the update time button. I have an old windows but it should be something like that anyway.

I do agree.  I will not want to combine the communities but I do want them support Supercoin.  Maybe Supercoin can be the cryptocurrency of choice for the darknet and marijuana sales in places where it is legal but they can't use banks.  Colorado would be an example.  Supercoin can compete with dash and bitcoin mainly because of it's anonymous transactions speed.

Many people like to be able to buy medical marijuana this could also be an area to look at.

mdtspain I had issues about how Griffith was doing things aswell I wasn't happy with the way things were going and I didn't agree with what was happening with supercoin, I have expressed this already in the forum anyway. I'm hopping Griffith has changed in the way he is doing things and it at least appears that this is so. I think fuze has taken on a role and doing well.
I agree with you that there has to be usability for the coin it goes without saying, but its good to start and build and find new avenues and ideas.
I'm sure people have taken on your point of the costs of hiring developers. I think for the first time in a while this coin is moving where it has been idol for so long.

76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: February 23, 2016, 11:59:55 PM

The coins anonymity has never been broken yet, however we don't know if anyone has tried hard to break it.
It needs someone who is good in this area to give it a go and show what they find. For example the person who recently found a problem with shadow coins code.
This is quite important to give an idea of just how well supercoin works.

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: February 21, 2016, 05:26:49 AM
I'm worried about dilution of the coin if there is to many over time.
Its better to be deflationary than inflationary and this is done by limiting the coins.
There needs to be a limiting factor to enable deflation.

I understand that when people use supersend that there is a cost to it and this cost goes to the people that are being used to send the transaction. This is a good method to earn money from this coin that is already built into it.
This should be an adjusting parameter as to the value of the coin.

Because of its design that people can earn form these transactions it encourage them to keep their wallet open thus earning more, however this only comes into real effect the more abundantly it is used.

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: February 21, 2016, 03:33:25 AM

I'm thinking something like

Year 1 - 20%
Year 2 - 15%
Year 3 - 10%
Year 4 - 5%
From Year 5 - 3% or 4% for a number of years.
Then - between 1% and 3% for a number of years (but longer time period than previous).

Total years stretched as long as possible for last two changes with the very last being the most years.

Try to keep the total coin cap at around 70 million or less.

Also maybe a consideration (not sure if it would be better or not, so just an out there thought) that the percentage changes could be triggered on block count instead of years.

79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: February 20, 2016, 09:15:29 AM
With PoS coin, there needs to be an incentive to stake for network growth and to attract new investors.
Supercoin is still in its infancy so it's best that we keep the staking for longer until it is well established.

So maybe set it to max 50million and put the stake rate to 3% to allow enough time (approx 9-10 years) for growth?
(or max 5% for appox 5 years)

my 2 supercoins worth. Grin

I agree. The eventual max number of coins needs to be the least as possible to limit the coins available. Also there needs to be a reducing sliding scale over the years for the POS. I think the balance between the two is very important.

Thanks Fuze and Griffith, first page looks good and now somewhere to trade. Community base is starting to re-form.

Griffith, I remember when you was first taking over there was something that needed to be done to the code regarding helping with the anonymity of the coin, can't remember exactly what it was. Just wondering if you remember and if it was done or not.
