61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uncensored XC thread on: June 01, 2014, 06:08:07 PM
This is off topic, but I saw Dreamcoin mentioned so i had to clarify https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=625460.0
I stepped in as lead dev a week ago. The original developer launched it with a misrepresentation of zerocoin implementation.
I will assure you this is not the same coin in principle as the one that was launched.
I have been watching the development of this anonymity craze and guarantee I will not take a short cuts or try to pull any hype to pump the coin
I do not believe that node based mixers are remotely the answer to anonymity.
The only people i believe to be on the right track are the zerocoin/zerocash team.
https://twitter.com/ZerocoinProject and even they are taking their time to launch something solid.
Unless i have something ready for public beta it will not be pushed to public.
I foresee many issues coming in the future to any node based system as it has too many hole to be exploited.
This may just be a matter of opinion, but it is not a risk I would be willing to take.
As a developer it is my responsibility to protect the interests of my investors first and this means having a solid product before ever putting it to market...

I apologize for my interruption

62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Dreamcoin Revival 100% Proof Of Stake 15% Stake Rate [DRM] on: June 01, 2014, 05:26:07 PM
Outside of that last post. The masternode metod and Xnode methods are flawed by design.

Besides asking for a fee to run a node the concepts they use for mixing just is not anonymous and easily traceable. They do not truly create an anoymous transaction and are open to exploitation.

We have already seen this with Dark and the masternodes. I feel it's just a matter of time with Xnodes. Plus Xnodes require a 1000 coin bank in a node that cannot be staked which by design is not far off of what pinkcoin's mixer proposes . Then you have mastiff that is declaring coin recycling. None of which are reliable methods of achieving anonymity.
Mixers are old hat and bring up a whole array of other issues. From what i understand Silkroad laundered coins through mixers and transactions were still able to be traced...

I'm not saying that there is no answer i just don't believe the ones that are on the table are viable options or real answers.
Even ring signatures has an issue with bloat that will ultimately lead to an unusable coin. Zerocash is really the only option presented that doesn't place these types of concerns out there and fortunately their team isn't trying to play into the hype and rush a half baked idea out.

I've also been paying close attention to that coin...and the issue with loljosh is not really an issue.  There is no way that loljosh has been creating the coin code.  The dev, Dan Metcalf, has stout credentials - https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=42275474&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=Mj7i&locale=en_US&srchid=1462531541401640209839&srchindex=5&srchtotal=56&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A1462531541401640209839%2CVSRPtargetId%3A42275474%2CVSRPcmpt%3Aprimary - and after the Fedora coin debacle pushed through a test version of his Xnode wallet which has been documented here -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uTgnZAFuNU&feature=youtu.be

The X nodes are real and the new wallet goes live tonight...though I am unsure if the completed product is still slated for 3 weeks from now.

Zerocoin is not being developed by the original team and won't be unless someone picks up the helm.  Zerocash is likely 5-6 months away...

https://twitter.com/ZerocoinProject  They have a Bitcoin dev working with them on Zerocash.
Also if you can explain what atcsecure paid loljosh for If it wasn't to make a coin that is another thing that doesn't add up Plus it is easy to trace transactions with XC

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Dreamcoin Revival 100% Proof Of Stake 15% Stake Rate [DRM] on: June 01, 2014, 12:07:24 PM
Hello Dreamers.

I wanted to address some concerns so people know I am not just dragging my feet, and that I am instead performing acts of due diligence before jumping into anything.
I already had concerns with the methodology laid out by both dark and XC.
After looking deeper into XC I'm feeling the need to be even more leery.
On the surface it would appear the lead developer is atcsecure, but after further investigation there is doubt that he is the coder of the coin.
This is the trust record of atcsecure https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=88818 meaning who he has given trust to.
If you notice his one given trust is for loljosh. A known serial coin coder. This leaves me with the question what would someone linked to homeland security have a coin developed promising anonymity be up to? These are simply my own personal questions, as i have others as well. These are not accusations. These are questions which make me want to further watch the unfolding events before committing to any implementation of these into our coin.
For those of you that do not know who loljosh is. He has been linked to Sync, Cinni, and WC also.

I would truly like to wait to see what the zerocoin/cash team puts forward, as I agree with their work ethic of not rushing something to market simply to profit off of hype.
This is commendable and deserves the highest respect.

Please do further research yourself on what I have stated above.
I am not trying to create any FUD. I am skeptical and approaching this stage of development with caution.

CRYptcoin  will implement XC anon feature : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=618377.340

I was reading up on that as well. I will look at the code also. No promises at this point however. I am still skeptical of their method for anonymity.

Anyway as the motto goes: Never invest more than you afford to invest.

I think you'll find the saying goes: Never invest more than you can afford to LOSE !!

Just saying.
I whole heatedly agree with both of these statements and feel they are in the same vein of truth.
Please do not put all of your money into your investments.
I do not wish for dream to be a source of anxiety for anyone.
$20, $100 max at this point. when we have our multipool up we will see a steady rise in price.
When i can promise you proper development progress i will.
I will not pull hype to inflate the price like some will
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624017.0 <--- example
I can refer you to others that have been promising and promoting development features for over a month.
I would prefer to have things ready for public beta before ever announcing them.
I do hope this makes sense as previously stated I do not wish for Dream to be a source of anxiety. That is not a dream that is a nightmare.

This is the time to focus on community building and outreach. The time for the community to get creative and brainstorm. It's time to ask the question of what causes do you want to support? We're moving into the summer months school is not in session. For those of you in school think ahead towards setting up canvassing efforts for next semester and getting people involved in crypto. There are some of you that are new to Crypto currency or look at it as strictly a monetary investment. We need to work on education and risk assessment.
We can help inform people of what to look for in pump and dump schemes and how to avoid the scam traps. We can work on a framework for how to go about this. We don't want to be thread trolls. I would like to work on a video similar to this one http://youtu.be/HZkgD9TlZQs Get a paper wallet generator with custom graphics not just a rehash of someone else's. I personally am working on building a team. This is going to take time, some of the people i have reached out to are from outside the crypto community. Others it will not be prudent to approach for another two or three months as they are heavily involved in their own projects at this time.
This is the time of planting seeds, an invite for ideas, and time for open discussion.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Dreamcoin Revival 100% Proof Of Stake 15% Stake Rate [DRM] on: May 29, 2014, 05:25:28 PM
Honestly it's a damn shame there isn't more interest in DRM, than what we're seeing.  I still hold some, but I've taken a beating from DRM like I never have before.....well except for MAX (lost 98% there, and almost knocked me out of the crypto-game).
I'm sorry to hear this honestly i wish there was something i could put on the table right at this moment to make the market move in our favor.
There are things in development but nothing I am making public at this time.
I am down a bit cause of our previous dev as well I bought between 10k and 30k most closer to 30 than 10.
We will make it through this . However I cannot blame anyone for cutting their losses as I do not wish for anyone to have all of their eggs in one basket and wouldn't advise it prudent to do so.
Eventually we will be a stronger coin with a strong community I hope that people find us and know that i do not feed them what they want to hear or try to hype for gains.
We are a young community that needs to reach out to people and inform others that we exist.

This nation of dreamers much like Rome will not be built in one day.

Another thing that you may not be aware of is that our wallet is equipped with coin control.
Which allows you greater control over transactions and balances. You can find this under setting/option/display. There is a check box to enable this feature.

This is a quote taken directly from one of the Developer of Zerocion/Zerocash

"Move fast & break things is a bad strategy w/ cutting edge crypto. If Zerocoin/cash did that, what we'd break would be your money & privacy"

I couldn't agree more.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Dreamcoin Revival 100% Proof Of Stake 15% Stake Rate [DRM] on: May 29, 2014, 09:00:36 AM
Gotta say I really like the general idea of watching and learning from other coins before rushing into implementing tech like anonymous transactions, first movers are not always market makers in this game.
TOR integration should be easy enough for most wallets, it would nice to have this as an option in the Dreamcoin wallet directed at TOR nodes if people want to use it. Would be a nice little update to let people know that we working on things. Smiley

It's already in the settings tab  settings/options/network you set your proxy there to run trough Tor if you have it installed and set up. Otherwise I wouldn't exactly know how to, or if it would even be feasible to embed Tor directly into the client.

I just felt that it was an existing option that many don't know or realize is out there

Besides I am not trying to pump hype this coin so any announcements like that would simply be a hype attempt.
that's not my method. When we get growth it will be natural and solid.

Would you prefer a foundation built on concrete or air?

I'm not attempting to create panic or even say I am correct in my assumptions. I am skeptical of intentions on the behalf of some, and also leery about what unforeseen problems may arise. In the case of XC I can say that the developer more than likely knows what he's doing, But i have to question the method used and motives behind it.
As far as Dark is concerned there method is severely flawed. I have to look deeper into ring signatures to get a greater understanding. Though from what i understand that method creates data bloat that will eventually yield the coin nonviable for typical daily use.

I will continue to watch the progress of the development of these coins and others that may try to step into their shadows. In the meantime if you are wanting some level of anonymity I would suggest looking into running your wallet client through proxies and Tor. If I am not mistaken this can be done with any coin's wallet and should give you some added level of privacy. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Tor

If anybody actually has any experience with my above statement please let me know as this is probably one of the more valuable/viable and over looked options out there today

Examples of why I say wait, watch and learn

Darkcoin--> http://www.cityam.com/blog/1401188238/darkcoin-crashes-23pc-after-blockchain-forks
Darkcoin had a fork fest and isn't truly anonymous

XC -->  XC Dev
Above is the linkin page for the dev. I would like you to note what his employer history is.
https://www.linkedin.com/vsearch/p?company=Homeland+Security+Wireless&trk=prof-0-ovw-prev_pos

Something tells me it smells of a fed sting trap for those dumb enough to not know anything about it but trust that it's an anonymous transaction when sending their data straight to a department of homeland security controlled mixer. <-- This statement is a speculative opinion and not proven factual

Also I have been following https://twitter.com/secparam on twitter if you are truly interested in this type of tech he gives good insight

Hello Dreamers! Not sure why we're not getting the attention we deserve.  DRM prices are way too low, it's sad.  Don't give away your dreams for cheap.

Johnny. Yes, we definately need a new title.  Please change it to something like this:

[DRM]  ★★★Dreamcoin★★★ - No IPO/Premine |X11| 15% POS -  Dreams are predictions of the future!!

I think a title like the above will make searching easier.  Yes, we need to include x11 even though we are in POS since x11 is hot and many people search for it.  We also do not need the word "revival" since that indicates we were dead or something which we weren't.  DRM just has a new and improved DEV.  Grin

Regarding Dream Pool.  Not sure what is going on with icecube45 but I think it's time to go with another option.  We can't put our dreams on hold because of one person.  I believe DREAMbig said he could put one together for us.

Tomi. Great work!  Thanks for all your effort.  You are a true asset to DRM.

Dream on! Dreamers!
So i use the term revival so we are not confused to be the same group/individual as we were before I do not want anyone mislead or misinformed so it is a revival. I didn't launch this coin. Would you prefer it say rescue?
I don't feel X11 is important either as it gives the illusion and impression the coin can be mined and that's also to me false representation. I picked up a 100% POS coin.
Sorry if this approach bothers you, but I will make every claim as honestly and clearly as I can. I do not want to build Dream into a hype balloon. Hype is air and air deflates.
I hope you will get a sense for what my strategy is for dream. I want for Dreamcoin to be made up of real investors and a real community not fly by night dump when it hot and bail. I am not catering to this. Not in the slightest. I agree with you we need a multipool I am still waiting for replies from people, but I've been in charge for less than a week. Once again i ask patience. If you can find somebody to do it that would be great. I am going to give much of this type of responsibility to you the community. Not that I'm completely slacking on this. I've made contact with people about building one i just don't make promises that i can not give definitive answers about their fulfillment.
I hope you will find my methods suitable. Once again i do not want to build Dreamcoin on hype or buzz words I believe in substance and integrity and think this will serve us much better in time than playing off of trends and false promises.

still around folks. the people involved in dream seem very solid right now, and that's always a huge part of my consideration before I buy into anything. unfortunately I have to wait 6days (for payday) b4 I can purchase some dreams of my own. however on two separate occasions, yesterday and today I have noticed the price of Dream jump to $0.12 and then back down to below $0.04. would much appreciate someone to shed some lite on these crazy spikes, , a comment from johnny_non would be appreciated, but anyone with any insight?? I strongly suspect a friendly whale type investor who I won't mention by name, maybe he is attempting to get the attention of potential buyers? the reason I ask is because these sudden spikes resemble pump n dump spikes I have seen on blatant shitcoins, which am sure this is not, (in truth I have also seen this on goodcoins which were temporarily manipulated by unscrupulous individuals) anyone have any insight??
I don't really know who is doing this in the market, it's not something i have any control of. I don't have any coins on any exchanges. You could be right it could be some whale or somebody trying to stir the pot as it were. My address is in my signature if it makes you comfortable feel free to monitor it. I do know that Myfarm bought a bunch of coins driving the price up and wanted to us to pursue his vision for the coin and then dumped out when we didn't go that direction. That's probably the major spike you are referring to. In all honesty I couldn't sell out all other dreams for one mans dream no matter how big an investor he was and you can fault me for that...

This is probably it.  Since then, however, the price on the buys/sells has stabilized and the jumping won't be as severe.  Currently there definitely seems to be a holding pattern.  Doesn't look like too many people want to sell at the current price.  I know I wouldn't.  Dumpers are mostly out, and now we work to build the coin with REAL growth.

thanks for your replies guys. still have enough confidence in dreamcoin to come in as soon as I can. incidentally MyFarm was the friendly whale I was referring to. was unaware that he pulled out like that.  but  yeah..am busy counting down the days....6...5 and a half....
Seriously no problem. I appreciate your concern and think it's a smart move to know your investments. Feel free to ask me questions anytime I'll do my best to address any concerns you may have.
