Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, December 16th – Saturday, December 23rd
We continue the awesome growth of our Slack community - as of December 23 we have 1269 Members and still growing. Please welcome to Spectreproject.

Dev Nutz and Boltz - @jbg has made some adjustments and additions to the roadmap and client/wallet releases. The entire community is enjoying his continued higher profile on a daily basis as noobs and old timers alike learn from him. Ironically, it’s one of the things pushing back the roadmap a little but, it seems to be what the community wants and he intends to continue.

v1.3.4 is nearly ready - just a bit of final testing going on with the staking donations. Should be released very soon.
Roadmap has been updated.

With brycel's help, jbg has managed to backport the automatic ring size calculation code into v1.3.4 as well as the long awaited  - donation "slider" mechanism to fund the project by whole community.

Stealth transactions can now be made without needing to adjust ring size, and as more people use them, they will automatically become more private.

This was the prerequisite for making it possible to allow exchanges to provide stealth withdrawals, so after v1.3.4 is released TEAM will be doing some outreach to encourage them(Cryptopia and Livecoin) to implement.

Minor bugfixes and performance improvements
Updated node list for reliable syncing
Updated Tor to the latest version
Introduction of a staking donation setting allowing donation of a percentage of staking rewards to the developers
Automatic ring size determination for stealth transactions
New build system making building on Linux much easier

*NEW TARGETS*
v1.4 is going to get released in the "end of January 2018", which brycel and jbg have discussed and agree that it is a conservative estimate.

Migration to the latest version of Qt with a revamped native wallet UI using QtQuick, which will be simple to port to Android in order to make a mobile wallet
Major improvements to stealth coins including a new splitting/combining algorithm and automatic ring size
Major sync performance improvements
Memory use reduction through the removal of QtWebKit (important for the performance of the Android wallet)
Packages for popular Linux distributions

*v2.0*
As for 2.0 (default stealth addresses). Team is moving the target to Q2 2018. The reason is, with v1.4 coming in Jan, there is not enough time between v1.4 and v2.0 if v2.0 comes in Q1 2018.

That is both in order to have enough time for testing, and to have time to make sure the network is majority - v1.4. As v2.0 will not be chain-compatible with earlier versions
Stealth addresses and transactions become the default
Innovative stealth staking
Further features and improvements to be announced

TEAM hopes that everyone understands the reasons for the shifted dates. (edited)

Other SpectreProject news - We have now gained the interest and support of @kepler.
He is a professional web developer with experience in web and mobile tech and working the last two years in AR/VR. He is starting a design and is working with @jbg on what is needed.

This community never ceases to amaze me as we enter our second year. After finding a new “floor” SpectreCoin [xspec] is again rising in a nice fashion…...never a P&D coin…..its growth is steady and measured.

As mentioned earlier I am still on vacation, limited in my ability to post but checking in via phone from time to time.I’m able to catch a dsl (remember those?) connection a few times a day to post.

Enjoy the upcoming New Year!

@loweyboy
you are confusing Spectrecoin [xspec], launched a year ago and is a "coin", with a project that  utilized part of our name , is an erc20 ethereum based token....and is for starting up an exchange. Two completely different animals.
Good luck with sorting through it....and please take a look at SpectreCoin [xspec]

65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 24, 2017, 02:32:12 PM

If you'd like to check updated roadmap you can see.
There was other info in the newsletter I wanted to get out.

I hope this helps everyone see how things are lining up and please understand…..The devs are doing things as quickly and accurately as possible. We’re fortunate to have two “world class” devs and they do things right….no unfinished code will be pushed out the door. Exact dates are not available as testing and bug squashing can cause some delays. Just watch the announcements-news channel in Slack for the latest.

I know the entire community appreciates the increased presence of @jbg in Slack and his help and explanations not only about all things SpectreCoin [xspec] but, other information and tidbits about crypto in a friendly easy to understand way. I know I learn something almost everyday from him.

SpectreCoin News - The success of our own Marketing group effort to coordinate as a team back on December 6th has been stunning. If anyone is interested in becoming involved with SpectreCoin marketing join Slack and contact @trainasauruswrecks (who is the driving force there), @srqrebel, @thethundergoose or @rkh (key members there as well).

Growth in new community members, lots of experienced savvy investors (who really understand the tech of xspec or want to learn) and now SpectreCoin [xspec] is starting to take its rightful place among privacy coins as the “Tech First” project.

And did I mentioned a new ATH as well as a retrace to new substantial floor for the next ride up? Wow….just WOW!

Congratulations to trainasauruswrecks and everyone on the marketing team, it really proves that community based marketing is truly the best.

In bisq news….SpectreCoin [xspec] is NOW available in the 6.2 release. Please visit
Bisq-the P2P exchange to learn more. It is suggested to read their faq and get familiar with bisq. Being a decentralized exchange...its a little different to use but gives people privacy not found on centralized exchanges.

In closing….It figures all the excitement happens when I’m away and have poor net connections and service. Maybe I should go out of town more often! LoL

Things should improve in a few days though..

Everyone have a Xspectacular Christmas!

For US citizens I guess bonus really meant "bone us"

Cash out btc at 19....buy to refund at 12k is a 7k US$ profit

Nice Bank guys.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TokenPay just gave the middle finger to its U.S. investors (!) on: December 22, 2017, 03:35:07 PM
They knew before launch it didn't meet SEC rules for ICO that came out before.
A lot of US citizens put money in on the basis of  Capo being from USA.
And he's out of the country now so untouchable.

Fancy website really sucked a lot of people and their money in only to get less back.
I guess their "legal advisors" Garcia and Arraya...IF they even exist...need to learn about SEC and US Law.
Sorry for peoples' loss but this smelled from the start
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 21, 2017, 12:14:47 PM
Hallo Dev, please apologize in advance, I want to ask why in this article, this project does not include the team or the name of the person who joined your project team? I think it's better to describe the name of the team because it has the greatest influence of a project. Or is your business an individual build?

Hi, the ANN is still a bit sparse on information, please look at the CoinWiki article linked there: http://coinwiki.info/en/SpectreCoin

Actually you won't see their names there either....but a wealth of information on SpectreCoin [xspec]
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 18, 2017, 01:58:13 PM
Most ppl only used the famous and big exchanges. Exchanges will be the problem.

And that's exactly why most people miss out on the early part and the best price of coins like
SpectreCoin [xspec].

And if you know crypto at all... you know the so called "big" exchanges list who they want, when they want.
Also, some of the things happening with many of them and their arm twisting KYC demands are rapidly
falling out of favor and paving the way for knowledgeable  people to use decentralized exchanges like Bisq -
 a P2P exchange
....which is our next exchange to be listed on.

Don't get me wrong...the team is not asleep on contacting and keeping other selected exchanges up to date on how the project is doing.
You might want to learn more about dex exchanges though....they ARE the future for privacy.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 18, 2017, 12:15:08 PM
I think this coin is going to be a big hit in 2018. I'm already kicking my self in the butt for not buying more when it was .30 there might be a slight correction coming soon might grab some more then. I really like the features this coin has.

Don't feel bad....SpectreCoin [xspec] has been way under the radar and missed by a lot of people....both new and experienced.
But not anymore thanks to our own in house marketing group that's been working hard the last couple weeks.  Cool
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: December 17, 2017, 02:43:27 PM
Like to welcome all the recent newcomers to the SpectreCoin [xspec] Slack community, and the newer Reddit and telegram groups as well. We appreciate your interest and support to this project that's starting to emerge as people realize its tech is superior.....and is poised to get even better. A year old now and the best is yet to come.

To save you a little time and answer some questions....please have a look at these links.

And WELCOME ALL....come join us!

Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, December 2nd – Saturday, December 9th

Our Slack community continues to grow - Gandhalf, Fodrigo, Fuster, Erik, ROD, moogy, Cointek, Spectreiscool, Maniz, snova, Smith, iipe, Darean, YoloCat, JacksonD44, vrapo, HMG Creative, Patrick W, ethereumfan297, Matt, Hari K, barryo, Gajoo, naruto,  lqwmvmwvm, Maximus, Shaun Ho, Luffy69, and beetfarmer

Now 1006 members….exciting news indeed.

Developer  Nutz and Bolts - Things are starting to move along, @jbg said “While 1.4 development continues, we will make an interim release v1.3.4 this week (after testing) with a nodelist update (to resolve a recurring difficulty that new users have), a Tor update and some other minor fixes.”
This will make a good bridge as we move towards v1.4.

On bisq news….@jbg has the info needed to make sure the bisq integration will not be a problem when we go stealth-by-default, which can cause problems for a decentralized exchanges, and he reports the pull request has been submitted to bisq. We should be live after their next update. We’ll keep everyone up to date.

Finally on v1.4….the patience shown by everyone is appreciated as we move towards this groundbreaking release that no other coin has.

SpectreCoin Community News - I’m not sure where he gets all his energy but, the russian dynamo known as @rkh has finished his design of the new website. Most of you have seen the sample pages….its pinned in the marketing channel.  I’m also happy to report its design was approved by @jbg , our project manager, and is now in the coding stage. With the holiday season here it will most likely be in early 2018 before it’s active.
Next time you see him give him a High Five for his great work!

The Reddit community has grown by almost 50% this past week…Largely from the efforts of the newly formed Spectre-20_Club started up by Razorbeam. His group was formed on the heels of last weeks proposal of @rkh covered in the newsletter. @rkh had listed 5 BitCoinTalk threads in Slack where members could contribute and promote SpectreCoin. Razorbeam took it a step further by starting this group.Currently its is 14 a member group (as of this writing) and devotes 5 minutes a day with a targeted marketing campaign to Reddit, Bitcointalk and other forums and groups to make them aware of our great project SpectreCoin [xspec] and counter the FUD and misinformation that is sometimes  out there in crypto-space.This coordination and sharing of information really multiplies their impact. And has brought many new members to our community.

This a great example of  “word of mouth” marketing and its power that we’ve been talking about and it’s very exciting to see it in action. Here’s a HUGE THANK YOU for all of your efforts and if anyone would like to become a part of it…. contact Razorbeam and I’m sure he’ll welcome you to join.

As we approach 2018 SpectreCoin [xspec] is poised to explode on the crypto scene with a bang!

Personal note - I’m going to be taking some time off the next two weeks for some rest, holiday travel and celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary. I’ll be around but, not as much as usual.  There will still be newsletters in this time period.

Enjoy the ride!

I like the idea, Spectre sounds too "dark".

Well, it's SpectreCoin [xspec]...and a name change to anything else
simply isn't going to happen.  Smiley

@Bitman86 - Thanks for continuation of the "bounty"....and all you do!

hello all.  can i keep my emc2 in cryptopia with the hard fork?  or are they disappear with the hard fork??

Well, most exchanges follow a HF when it happens (have a look at the blog post on the emc2 site)....bUT. Always best to install the new wallet and hodl there until the smoke clears.

SpectreCoin [xspec] is celebrating its first birthday.....its important when looking for something to add to your portfolio to watch for since when a project hits its second year is when its adoption and value increase.  Wink

Spectreproject’s Weekly Summary
Saturday, November 25th – Saturday, December 2nd

New to Slack - Been a nice week for new comers! diogoxow,  xspecvn, Chris_M, John, sprc86, DirtyMiner, steven, ckoroxod12, Cobaro, paperweight, Oleg, joli89, bango, shadow, Lef, ivan, Matthieu, jorgen, enalnomis, eruir82, stalked, the_stalker, JZ3QF9, Tom14,  vanjavk, iamblichi, Catdi, and TakadaKenji

We now stand at 972 members even after deactivations for whatever reason…..low or no activity, user voluntarily went inactive or was made inactive by mods.

Dev Nutz and Boltz - @jbg showed several times this past week to answer some questions and assure members things are progressing well!

SpectreCoin News -  There has been much talk and discussion  lately about “marketing”. Mostly people just wanting it to “happen”. Other members, mostly newer, comment they’re willing to help in some way in SpectreProject.
Some long time community members have made several suggestions ….so far the community has not acted very much on these suggestions that take little time or effort and zero cost. So I’m posting here as well. Take a look!

Many times, I’ve tried to make the point that the most powerful marketing “tool” is found in each and every one of us. And that is word of mouth.

Please, if you really want to contribute, if you really want to see the result of just how great it works…..participate! Sure some folks you propose to will say ...the website looks lame, others will say…..nah, updates don’t seem to happen fast enough,….let them go their way. But in a month or two….remind them you tried to let them know about SpectreCoin [xpec] and its potential.

If we expose SpectreCoin to only a 1000 people and just one half of one percent say “Hey looks nice! I’ll join in”....that’s 50 people! And do remember that not everyone has the ability to cut through all the chatter and noise to really understand SpectreCoin [xspec] for what it is and has to offer.

The first proposal -  was by @Leobitman - It was very simple. And I’ll extend this until December 18. “There is a bounty program very easy to win, if you have a Twitter account that is authentic, (the account can not be created just for this, you must have more than 40 followers).
Search on Twitter: Leo Bitman, 1) follow to know about SpectreCoin, 2) ReTweet for others to know, and 3) you send a public address to me, (the ones start with the uppercase letter: "S")
and that is all there is to it!, I will send you a "Free Sample of 10.00 XSPEC".
You can receive your 10 XSPEC, approximately in 2/4 days. - edit after publishing @Leobitman has extended this give him a shout in Slack!

The second Proposal -  easy to do thing each of you can do - @rkh has located 5 Bitcoin Talk threads where we can promote SpectreCoin [xspec]. A simple positive post without looking like an overly aggressive shill could be made without annoying people. This was posted yesterday in the “marketing_xspec” channel by @rkh and a very few picked up on it. If you are new to Slack and need help finding channels….just click on “channels” on the left hand menu to display or ask any of us how to join.

SpectreCoin [xspec] is a community based project and what that means is each of us can contribute something in some way. We are asking now, as we wait for the upcoming v1.4 client/wallet, use this time positively.

I’d also like to leave a link that one of our members @stefland created to quickly inform about SpectreCoin, how it works and some of its features.

More about what we have, what we don’t and what can we do
Please don’t take it wrong when I say….I’m getting a little weary of seeing posts and opinions, seemingly over and over, about exchanges, what other coins are doing and what marketing SpectreCoin lacks or needs. We seem to have so many experts voicing opinions and that seem to have all the answers that it makes me wonder why you don’t start your own project.
I think I know why...IT’S FREAKING HARD!

Exchanges are bombarded by old and new coins (well over 1300 as of today).....truth be known we’re pretty fortunate to be on the ones we are.Yes, I’m very aware of the older exchanges and try to keep up on the newer ones and DUH!…..yes, I even contact them and try to maintain dialogue.
We seem to run into one thing or another that I alone cannot overcome and as some of you know it takes someone above my paygrade to go further.
So thanks for the suggestions but odds are...  I’ve already contacted them at least twice and continue to follow up from time to time.Laying the groundwork in a consistent professional fashion. So, as we grow I’m hopeful we can expand but, for the time being we have what we have.

Other coins? All of them face the same challenges today and how many have died a slow death in less than a year (or less) after release when “the next big thing” comes out. SpectreCoin is at its one year mark, has gotten stronger in spite of BitCoin’s meteoric rise, “airdrops” ….the “if its free its for me mentality” of coins that don’t even have fully working code…..and countless erc20 tokens that have terrible track record of just taking peoples’ money and all the other craziness that is crypto today.
If you see something you don’t like about SpectreCoin….I’m very sorry, I am….maybe you should go find another coin that better suits your purpose.

But please don’t rag on xspec for what it may or may not have or  that you don’t care for…..You don’t like only one full time dev….ummm okay! But I can tell you from experience teams made up of several devs can just as easily fail or split up leaving investors high and dry and funds worthless...I mean like 10 sats or less. (been there done that). Think its distribution is lopsided (I can assure you it’s not when we have over 900 members here)...well we’d like to see you stay but, if it’s one thing crypto is about...it’s choices.

Marketing? Now here’s a fun one and my favorite (hope you read the start of this newsletter)….To be successful it doesn’t have to be zillion dollar huge….it just has to be consistent. I’ve learned again and again, and I’m in the retail business, what I already knew. Word of mouth will do more to promote a
product or service ( or hurt it) than anything else. That’s the grass-roots part of marketing that each and every one of you can be doing. Everyday!

Social media is great! And @rkh and @CommunityWhale head up the Reddit and twitter projects...heck @rkh has even taken on producing and modding the russian version of BitCoinTalk. But it still comes down to each of us talking up SpectreCoin in the circles we run in …..I bet each of you have a favorite place to hang out….! Post on twitter and Reddit, hang out on the telegram channel that we created people were calling for one. Telegram stands at 91 members but, its mostly new people, have you joined yet? …..it’s important to have someone there to greet newcomers.

So I guess i’m done….I hope everyone takes this in the spirit of community pulling together that is the vision that is SpectreProject!
If you read this whole news letter...THANK YOU...I appreciate it I know it was long.
