61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people still send BTC to the genesis block address? on: November 16, 2015, 05:58:06 AM
Seems like a lamb of a target for a hack. Even just for 16 BTC...

Good thing this stuff can't be hacked now, but could it ever?

Unfortunately no code is safe from hackers. It may be safe for a while but there will always be a way around everything. The best we can hope for is that security is kept on top of.

And do you know how many developers are in position to build and oversee those security improvements?

63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: November 16, 2015, 05:44:32 AM
It's kind of shocking that post was made in 2015.

Bitcoin is money. What's this "have you used it as real money" talk?

It's nonsense!
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ads for bitcoin in cinemas? - Update 1 on: November 16, 2015, 05:43:08 AM
Why don't you just show the ads now in the BITFILM FESTIVAL 2015
its touring now and maybe he will let you show it for free during it
http://www.bitfilm.com/bff15/

Why would you advertise to people that are already using the product? The goal is to increase adoption with those that don't currently use bitcoin. People attending the Bitfilm Festival are most likely to already be "on board" with the project!
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin reset? on: November 16, 2015, 05:38:33 AM
Personally I would prefer every single person (or at least 1 out of 10) would own a device that supported this technology we are using to determine one's wealth/control/power/influence.

So your comfortable with a very small minority (10%) of bitcoin users having control, access, or ability to use bitcoin mining technology? Good, that's basically what we have today!

Bitcoin is a wonderful application of capitalism...those that work get paid. Those that risk have the opportunity to get paid more (but not the obligation or promise).

The reality is that this is how fast the maturity of an industry can move and change the way things were done in the beginning. There are other ways to get involved that can be very profitable.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ads for bitcoin in cinemas? - Update 1 on: November 16, 2015, 04:32:27 AM
Bind stores to accepting bitcoin as long as the ad runs!
I will require the stores to sign a contract which binds them to accept bitcoin for at least 6 months. I will create two ads with 8 different stores from the local city. Due to having only 4 slots in one ad, their ad will be played in cinemas for at least 3 months.

This doesn't sound right for me.

Forcing stores to accept Bitcoin sounds a lot like Governments forcing their monetary policy will on all of us. You can't introduce someone to something new by forcing them to use it.

The ads idea sounds GREAT! Why not ask people to ask their stores if they accept bitcoin? A "do you accept bitcoin?" campaign would be cool.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your first bitcoins came from.. (faucets aside) on: November 16, 2015, 04:05:54 AM
My first Bitcoin actually came from a friend back in 2012.
The good ol' days when faucets can give 1-2 bitcoins per user. I wish I could go back in 2011-2012. I'd definitely rape every faucet available back then.

Is this TRUE? WOW!!! I had no idea that faucets operated back then...that would have been cool (of course at the time they would have been considered dust payments as they are now).

My first Bitcoin was a Casascius coin.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why in some countries Bitcoin is banned on: November 16, 2015, 03:54:53 AM
So based on all the comments thus far, no country actually has banned Bitcoin.

So I did some research and found a Wikipedia page on the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country

The countries (that I found) that consider some element of Bitcoin illegal are:

  • Ecuador - issued a ban on bitcoin
  • Thailand - declared bitcoin illegal, but some businesses have been able to get licenses to deal in it
  • Vietnam - It's illegal to trade bitcoin in this country

Most countries have declared they don't have plans to regulate it or they don't see it as currency so it doesn't qualify under currency laws. The latter is perfect - don't consider it currency, stay out of our way!

You also don't have many posts. Maybe post some more (10 more posts) in a few threads where you can really provide some suggestion, discussion, or advice.

It's this constructive nature that everyone is looking for. Honestly, I just think it's because you only have 6 posts.

Good luck.
70  Economy / Economics / Re: My 21BTC Dream on: November 15, 2015, 06:43:08 AM
your dream is just a dream, i prefer work hard now to get 21 btc from 0.1 btc.

The OP has already worked hard to get the fiat needed to buy 21 BTC.
It doesn't matter whether you earn BTC, or earn fiat and convert it to BTC.

This is a great point!

Everyone's dream is their dream and hard work will be required. It's clear the OP has initiated hard work to arrive at the $6-7,000 needed to get 21 BTC into his/her wallet.

Nice work and good luck!

How does one redeem a Casascius coin?

Have you done it before? Let's hear stories...
72  Economy / Speculation / Could there be a time when goods are priced in satoshi rather than bitcoin? on: November 15, 2015, 06:18:29 AM
What needs to happen for the growth of bitcoin to be such that the price of your every day items is measured in satoshi, rather than bitcoin?

Do you think this will ever happen?
73  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Life Economies. on: November 15, 2015, 06:09:55 AM
I agree wwith the graph. bubbles are just bubbles they have nothing to do with bitcoin's growth. Therefore bubbles should be excluded from the bitcoin's growth chart

Today's bubble becomes tomorrow's resistance level, which is important for speculating on price direction...which is what the charts are mostly for, no?

We need to embrace the bubbles with the crashes...pull the scale out and it will be the history of ups and downs that get us to where we want to go.

I wish these charts could be posted somewhere central.
74  Other / Meta / Re: How can I earn trust on Bitcointalk? on: November 15, 2015, 01:10:42 AM
One thing you can do is offer free escrow services. There is a user called Monbux with a ton of trusted feedback from doing this. You do need to be trustworthy to get started, but you can start small. So for example, start in the currency exchange section whenever you need to trade bitcoin for Paypal or something. Start with small amounts and ask for positive feedback for successful trades. Once you start having trusted feedback you can offer free escrow services where you hold a small amount of bitcoin for people and settle disputes if something goes wrong.

With all due respect, starting out offering escrow services is a sure way to be stamped as not being trustworthy.
I have seen many users getting a very bad start by doing this.

The best way to "earn" trust is to start with being a good community member, make good posts and contribute the community.
The actual "trust" is in most cases given based on a some type of trade or business relation.

In order to trade, then will you need a product, either digital, physical or a service.
In any cases will you have to use a recognized escrow for the trade, most people will not trust a person with no record.

After some time will you start to have a trade record and together with your community contribution can the person that potentially will trust you have an idea what type of person/trader you are and use this as parameter in the trust evaluation of you.

the reply was perfect way of getting trust on bitcointalk, as you are newbie first you have to post on thread some good information and help others, and after you earn some higher position then i think you can start the escrow service, but the above reply explained you everthing what you need to do to gain trust on bitcointalk

In theory yes, in practice it's much more difficult. There are plenty of people here offering escrow. If you or I, with no trust, go advertise our services we'll kind of be laughed at because it's so easy to find someone with a lot of trust! Believe me, I've tried and every one laughed at me. (Not that that is a reason to not try, but still...)

I think a better way to do it is to arrange a transaction to earn trust, ideally with friend. They send you some BTC, you send it back. The trust was gained, they can give you the trust remarks formally and you have something to work with for escrow services going forward.
75  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining difficult, what it depends on? on: November 15, 2015, 01:06:50 AM
Is cloud mining worth it?

If so, at what hash rates - m/hs? g/hs? t/hs?

How much does one have to invest to see a reasonable return?
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, Altcoin fund on: November 14, 2015, 08:07:57 AM
Sounds like you need a business plan. Start by summarizing your idea and answering the questions from the first reply on this thread.

Good luck, don't forget to share it with us!
77  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Circle still offers instant purchase on: November 14, 2015, 08:05:23 AM
I'm not sure about Circle but I know that Coinbase offers the same thing which means you can buy Bitcoins Instantly using your Bank account and they will debit the money in two or three days , so that should be your best alternative in case you can't use Circle anymore .

Are you sure Coinbase gives you your coins instantly when you fund your account from the bank account and not a credit card? They are using ACH and I think that you have to wait for the money to appear in your coinbase account.

I might be wrong though!

The guy does say it'll take two to three days for the transaction to clear...
78  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Full Member account on: November 14, 2015, 05:13:09 AM

Starting BID: .06BTC
Min BID Increment: .003BTC
BIN: .08BTC or .005BTC higher on the current BID

Quick question, if someone bids up the price to .09, and I want to buy it now i can do so by offering .095 - even if the bidding period isn't over?
79  Economy / Auctions / Re: SPECIAL AUCTION.... Potential full member account starts @ 1 satoshi on: November 14, 2015, 05:09:54 AM
I think you did not read the starting post of OP correctly, he clearly told that starting bid is 1 sathoshi and min. bid increment is 0.002 btc. so how ever has to bid increment has to bid above 0.002 btc

I'm just surprised that the first bidder didn't bid 1 satoshi.

Because he wanted to save everyone else the hassle of having to write ...00001 after their subsequent bids at the BTC0.002 increment.

To the OP, what's the point of the two highest bidders paying you? Is this to protect you incase the highest bidder doesn't pay?

Oh ok..... I think the point is that there is more competition because the second highest bidder is going to be paying for nothing. It's going to be a bargain though for the highest bidder as the price is around half the usual.

Why would the second highest bidder send any coin to anyone if they knew they didn't win?
80  Economy / Auctions / Re: [WTS] Sr. Member Account [Auction] on: November 14, 2015, 05:06:58 AM
Is the account enrolled in a signature account currently?

Do you know which campaigns this account has been involved in?

Thanks.
