821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is there a quick way to buy bitcoin with credit card? on: August 12, 2015, 05:46:30 AM
most people wouldnt trade to you directly for CC since it can be easily reversed, but you may want to try and exchange; i think coinbase offers instant purchases if you buy with a credit card iirc.

Coinbase the fee's are higher for CC.   I can't remember limits on it.  They will limit it based on account, more activity and older more you can buy with CC.

With CC you risk chargebacks and stolen CC's.   So this causes higher fees.  I suggest finding a good exchange and set up a bank account for it.  Most likely you can set up one with a small min amount to keep in it.  Then use that account just for buying/selling BTC.

Coinbase's fees are high with accounts too, got charged 1% recently for a purchase!

Why do you want to buy bitcoin with a credit card? Do you think the price is going to jump and allow you to cash out and make a tidy profit? Maybe that will happen, but you have a better chance doing it in the stock market (where there's at least analysis and data to support buying decisions) than you do in bitcoin.

Don't get burned going long on credit and ending up getting shorted. Seriously, bulls make money, bears make money, but pigs get slaughtered.
822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Ownership Defined on: August 11, 2015, 06:49:49 AM
Interesting, this is the first I'm hearing of it (thanks for sharing with all.)

If bitcoin can be considered "open access property" can't any fiat currency? We all trade the bills we use for cash, no one claims distinct ownership for one specific bill with one unique serial number on it, do they?

It's unfortunate that the country of origin (presumably) for Bitcoin is taking the largest stance against it.
823  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Canada travel restrictions to terrorist hotspots on: August 11, 2015, 05:58:39 AM
Another example of striping away freedoms under the guise of protection. Harper has been very active lately in attacking Canadians freedoms, will be interesting to see if we get a push back in the upcoming election.

This is a great example of how conservatives add hype to a politician's proposal to introduce new legislation.

First, this is merely a proposal "if I get elected!" It's an attempt to win votes for those that agree with him

Second, government is larger than one person, so this guy's proposal means nothing if others in the congress or legislative branch of Canada's government don't agree with him.

Finally (and most importantly), the statement "if elected" should motivate anyone who's not a fan of this legislation to vote for SOMEONE ELSE! And they could even try to convince others to vote for someone else, using this guys same statement that "if elected" he's going to...

Why do conservatives get so scared to hear about new legislation (especially when the legislation is being introduced out of fear!) It's ironic.
824  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Seattle Fallout $15 Min. Wage: Workers Asking Fewer Hours So Not To Lose Welfare on: August 11, 2015, 05:06:36 AM

According to a report released Sunday by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the $15 minimum wage has caused Seattle restaurants to lose 1,000 jobs — the worst decline since the 2009 Great Recession.

“The loss of 1,000 restaurant jobs in May following the minimum wage increase in April was the largest one month job decline since a 1,300 drop in January 2009, again during the Great Recession,” AEI Scholar Mark J. Perry noted in the report.

The citywide minimum wage increase was passed in June of last year. The measure is designed to increase the city minimum wage gradually to $15 an hour by 2017. The first increase under the plan was to $11 an hour in April. According to the report, Seattle restaurants have already faced severe consequences as a result. In contrast, in the six years since the 2009 financial crisis, the industry has been recovering in areas without the $15 minimum wage.

Why can't you find a more well known news source to cite for this news? Your claims aren't crazy, your sources are. Is it conspiracy-theory-mainstream-media keeping the right news from us? Or is it that 1,000 jobs really isn't that significant.

Ok, my bickering aside, this is really interesting news. I can't wait to see how it plays out in the debates and election commentary next year (once more data is available). It's the best case study for social economic behavior. Major city implements major reform...which way will the result point?
825  Other / Politics & Society / Re: War in Space May Be Closer Than Ever on: August 11, 2015, 04:41:58 AM
When I hear this I think fighter jets chasing each other around like Star Wars.

But obviously that's not the kind of warfare they're talking about. they're talking about destroying access to communication and information means through blowing up satellites and such. This would be awful. Our bitcoin would be gone! Could there even be a record for those running online wallets?

If there's a conflict in outer space, you better believe some aliens are going to show up and whoop everyone's asses!
826  Other / Politics & Society / Bitcoin - interplanetary currency? on: August 11, 2015, 04:35:05 AM
Since Bitcoin is the "currency of the internet" and the internet can be accessed with a satellite, could Bitcoin become the first interplanetary currency (in the Solar System, at least)?

If we had people living on the moon, you could send them funds instantly regardless of their country of origin, account status, etc.
827  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gunfire outside US consulate in Istanbul hours after police station bomb on: August 11, 2015, 04:33:10 AM
This is crated again by those radical Islamic groups. Many countries have such a power but can't do anything against those groups. Cut their income, find their sources of income and just cut it. It is so simple but i know it is a big task. Nothing can exist without income.

You're right, it IS simple. Why don't they do it? Governments don't care enough? No. Governments don't have enough incentive? Possibly. Governments are bought by these organizations? Likely!

Why do you think the country of United Arab Emirates flourished (like, literally became relevant) in the first decade of the 2000s while Osama bin Laden was running amok around the Middle East and elsewhere? Because the UAE said stay the fuck out of our yard! The UAE probably donated to his cause in return for him backing the f-off of their attempt to embrace some capitalism and the wealth that comes with it.
828  Other / Politics & Society / Re: BREAKING NEWS: American Patriots Militia Groups taking down the Federal Reserve on: August 11, 2015, 04:27:26 AM
Even though Tom is an Actor...literally, this is all an act to get attention...he does have a point that what wealth you leave in a fiat currency is open to the risk of loss of spending power.

That's why it's wise to put your wealth into other things (than fiat cash), such as real estate, ownership of companies, ownership of loans, ownership of precious metals, ownership of income generating ideas, and ownership of the almighty BTCitcoin!

The wealth own shit...if you want to be wealthy you should try to own shit too. And the more you own the less risk you have to be pushed around by Governments, banks, and your neighbors.
829  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Putin tries to claim the North Pole. on: August 11, 2015, 04:24:11 AM

This graphic kind of proves that Russia's point is relevant and not crazy. According to the laws of the sea they have a rightful claim (along with few other countries) to call the water "touching" the Pole part of the land of vodka and dilapidated Olympic venues! Ok, that was kind of rude but their claim doesn't seem nearly as crazy now to me as it did when I first read this post.

Do other countries get to appeal their attempt or even get a say in it?
830  Other / Politics & Society / Where were the Anonymous protests last Saturday (8 Aug.)? on: August 11, 2015, 04:20:02 AM
Link to the Anonymous forum (or a forum that supports their cause): https://whyweprotest.net/

What happened to the day of reckoning protests that were threatened to occur on Saturday, August 8th?

Did they ever happen? If so - where? how bad was it? did any press cover it?

I haven't heard any reports so I'm assuming you all took off the masks for a day and had brunch at some local eatery. I'm all about keeping money in the community.
831  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn money in this forum? on: August 11, 2015, 04:14:58 AM
Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here. I was just curious how my friend gets income in this forum. I wanted to ask how can I earn money here? thank you Smiley

very small your income if playing a signature campaign with the rank newbie. better buy a minimum account full member, dont worry within 3 weeks of your money will be returned  Smiley

Or try faucets for a while. There are several faucets that are paying the same as a newbie post is worth to some campaigns and the use of a faucet won't get judged for quality, quantity, constructive contribution, etc. Check out Xapo or Freebitco.in, I have a link in my profile if you're interested.

Either way, whatever you decide, there are several solid options for earning some bitcoin on this Forum. And what starts as dust turns in to heaps and heaps of dirt...paydirt!
832  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoins and Philanthropy RE-post on: August 10, 2015, 07:44:49 AM
Here's an idea.

Why dont philantropists donate money to the bitcoin community to support the efforts.

The money is divided equally among outstanding bitcoins, thereby increasing the average value.  (EDIT: In effect, you can just put a high priced bid into the market place, and let it filter through)

Initial discussion here:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=549.0

Donating money to keep the price of bitcoin inflated doesn't sound like charity because it will mostly benefit the RICH! The people that have the most bitcoin will benefit the most, and that's not really the point of charity.

It would be better for philanthropists to teach the un-banked how to use bitcoin to help them facilitate their banking and transactions because micro-payments can be done so easily.
833  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Research] How and Where do you Spend your Bitcoins? [10,000 satoshi bounty] on: August 10, 2015, 07:40:54 AM
Filled out the survey.

You can keep the bounty but try to provide us all a summary of your research results when you are finished. Post them here. Give us all something in return for our time...our thoughts...our expertise. 10,000 satoshi only helps a few. Sharing your results helps us all.

Good luck with your research!

Some additional information may help you find the right people or help us think if we know anyone to connect you with.

It would be sweet to see craps, a real dice game, on your site!

836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another huge problem with Bitcoin and the problems users have staying safe on: August 10, 2015, 07:19:44 AM
Imagine a wallet (hot or not) becomes the market leader and more than half the existing bitcoins are stored there.

Then imagine it's security is breached.

If this happens at a time when bitcoin has been mass accepted and it is a dominant currency to store wealth in world-wide - then a criminal could be in possession of half the wealth in the world.....

Sounds surreal and could not happen in a FIAT system.

One word... fork.

RedSn0w, give us more than one word. Explain yourself.

To the OP, great question...Could something be done on the blockchain to provide added security? It makes the idea of cold storage a lot more valuable, imperative. There's no one great answer, yet...unless RedSn0w can explain how the fork is going to save us.
837  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Faucets - how much do those sites make in ad revenue? on: August 10, 2015, 07:13:08 AM
Thanks for your response. Mind if I ask a few more questions?

So the site owner can choose if they want to get paid per ad click or page views? And that it can pay from $0.50 to a few dollars per day.

IF we use freebitco.in as an example...and if that site uses the payment per 1000 page views model, the minimum amount paid out from the faucet for 1000 page views is about $1.85 (assuming a $265 bitcoin price AND that the minimum faucet payout is 700 satoshi). So that site needs to get more than $1.85 or 1,000 times the minimum faucet payout to potentially break even on their venture.

What's the average pay rate for the 1,000 page views pay model?

Dollars a day doesn't seem worth it. And maybe this was your point...giving me enough info to satisfy my question and keep me concluding that it's not worth my time.
838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Request for cooperation with the CIA in the project UnitedCoins and supervision on: August 10, 2015, 07:05:10 AM
Why would the CIA respond to a random request from someone from another country? Do you think you've really answered the "why do I care" question for them? There would have to be a really serious reason for them to give a shit for you to get a response.

The other thing that strikes me is that you're implying that you think the CIA lingers around the Bitcointalk Forum? IS this really what you're saying here (aside from your business idea)?
839  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sen. Bernie Sanders VS #blacklivesmatter on: August 10, 2015, 06:59:13 AM
What has Bernie Sanders done to specifically get in the way of the black lives matter initiative? Is he a specific target or just an easy target? I haven't heard about this in the news, so forgive me if it's really common knowledge.

Any insight anyone can share about why this guy is in the BLM crosshairs? Why not anyone else?

Thanks
840  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's blunt talk starting to see some push back! on: August 10, 2015, 06:54:46 AM
This will stiffle dissent in the Party. Limiting his exposure is a power play. The Party knows it can't put this guy forward as a candidate, so they need to start limiting his exposure now to save themselves from having him win the primary and being forced to support him in a general election he has zero chance of winning.

I think this might be the best outcome. He could show that these party affiliations are so deep, so "good old boy" that they aren't productive for a moral political process any longer.

Here's an article I found from Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/republican-assault-on-trump-may-only-make-him-stronger-20150807

He definitely gets more clout in business, he probably gets some stay power in this election, but will likely be limited to being a pundit. It will be great, once the Republican party tells him to take a hike, to see how far he can go as an Independent. He doesn't need donations, he already has an audience.

And if he gets elected, all the negative stereotypes about the US (from abroad) will be fulfilled. "Trump" is the cheapest brand on the planet...the US will suffer the same fate if he's elected.
