Fine. If you want to be here to learn about Bitcoin, that's great. Just don't sit around and complain that the price keeps dropping when you're not really doing anything to prevent that. I see that too much and it's annoying.

New thread title: "If you don't have any ideas, you shouldn't even complain".

I noticed, thanks, i appreciate it. The bitching needs to GO! There's no time or space for it here!
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What's the best Bitcoin film? on: November 12, 2015, 02:43:42 AM
What's the best Bitcoin film?

I'm looking for documentaries but any film is good to be aware of.

Let's hear it!
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Bitcoin documentaries on Netflix! on: November 12, 2015, 02:42:00 AM
Not even a TED talk or dark web documentary in there somewhere?

The problem with Bitcoin documentaries is that it's all moving so fast that by the time something got to Netflix it would already be a relic. Maybe future docs should send the viewer here to catch up on events.

I searched "bitcoin" in Netflix and nothing came up...but their search funcyion is shit.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No Bitcoin documentaries on Netflix! on: November 12, 2015, 02:41:04 AM
Netflix is crap, I'm not surprised. They rarely update anything with brand new films. Bitcoin will be way down their list of priorities, if they're even aware of it at all.

I'm realizing this too. They have nothing new, nothing edgy!
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a waste of time mentioning Bitcoin to friends and family? on: November 12, 2015, 02:39:24 AM
some of people are to busy to earn money or just do something to their business or job.  so if you just tell about btc they will make laugh at you and say "I have a lot to do so maybe you can tell to others who have more time to spent in useless coins what you want me to try"

really?? So for me why should I share this to others if someone told me like that ?

What?!  Who's too busy to earn money? We all need to earn money to live!!
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it a waste of time mentioning Bitcoin to friends and family? on: November 12, 2015, 02:38:28 AM
Never!

But i only recently started feeling this way. The more we talk about it the more familiar it becomes to people. Less mystery. Less weird. More "maybe i shpuld get into this!"
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you don't have any ideas, you shouldn't even be here. on: November 11, 2015, 10:32:59 PM
I'm sorry, I missed what your idea is to push the success of Bitcoin forward, how are you helping Bitcoin - can you share that with us please?

You have a personal message that advertises that you sell gems. And you have a signature for YoBit, which you get paid for. You wouldn't want us left with the impression that you're only here for personal gain, "that [you] just want to cash in on bitcoin", would you?

The reality is this Forum is not just for people that have ideas on how to improve Bitcoin's adoption, or infrastructure, or transaction volume capacity. This Forum is for much more than that. It's for people to learn about Bitcoin. It's for people to ask questions about Bitcoin. It's for people to sell things or services for Bitcoin.  It's for people to discuss mining Bitcoin.

Most important, it's for people to enjoy in a community that uses and appreciates Bitcoin.

If you can't understand that, if you can't handle that, if you think that all others must go - you don't get it and perhaps you should leave.

I agree with this sentiment 100%, we need to treat people with respect, which includes not trying to chase people away based on what one person values as their contribution.

Let me just begin my thread by mentioning how pathetic it is that some people in this forum...have the undeserved self righteousness to belittle another human being's ideas with no audacity to come up with their own.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / No Bitcoin documentaries on Netflix! on: November 11, 2015, 09:55:59 PM
I just realized there are no Bitcoin documentaries on Netflix!

I was shocked.

If I am to recommend some Bitcoin docs for Netflix to make available, which docs would you recommend?
169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friend: I like gold because you can run with your money if you have to on: November 11, 2015, 05:06:46 PM
How could you know who has gold and who doesn't?
Or are you talking about gold registered at the banking system? If it's not, I don't see how anyone could know.
(I'm not sure that I understood your post, though: tacit understandings between you and your friend coupled with the absence of quotation marks in your post didn't help).

I think you're agreeing with the OP. He/she is also saying that gold has value because it doesn't require registration, an account, or a bitcoin wallet, and it's dense - much more value is stored in a much smaller space than fiat.

Bitcoin is portable to as soon as we lose access to the internet it because largely useless - very scary!
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Initiated BTC discussion last night at dinner - of 5 ppl only 1 said "nah" on: November 11, 2015, 04:55:08 PM
One other comment  mentioned by the skeptic was "there's no FDIC for Bitcoin!"

For those who don't know, the FDIC is the Federal Deposits Insurance Corporation, a US federally provided insurance agency to protect savings accounts from fraud or bankruptcy of the bank. It was created after the run on the banks in the Great Depression in the US.

Obviously he's right, there is no protection from "getting Goxed"...but there's no protection from stock market declines and this person absolutely invests in the market.
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Initiated BTC discussion last night at dinner - of 5 ppl only 1 said "nah" on: November 11, 2015, 04:37:22 PM
Yeah, agreed. It just made it clear that he didn't have much thought or understanding of what makes any of our money valuable. Last night wasn't the time to debate or educate him (and risk making him feel bad for not knowing) but next time I'll have a good quick answer.

What wasn't discussed was the fact that Bitcoin can be considered an investment like stocks or bonds...something all these people were very familiar with.

Do you have Amazon Prime or will we also have to pay for shipping?
173  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: November 11, 2015, 04:26:37 PM
Now that the price of bitcoin has fallen back down to where the run started a few weeks back, will you be adjusting rates back up to their previous levels?

What schedule do you have for price adjustments?
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Initiated BTC discussion last night at dinner - of 5 ppl only 1 said "nah" on: November 11, 2015, 04:25:15 PM
So I introduced the topic of Bitcoin last night with some colleagues I was having dinner with. I don't usually do this, it's hard to gauge what people's reaction will be.

Of the 5 people I was talking to:
  • 1 person new of it although he had a lot of facts wrong
  • 3 people listened, and
  • 1 person asked skeptical questions and then concluded "I think I'll stick with my fiat"

Only 1 of 5 with immediate rejection of the idea is a pretty good result from my very scientific poll!

The guy who was skeptical asked "what gives it value?" To which I just replied supply and demand. I didn't want to get into some debate about what gives fiat currency value (although maybe he should be educated on how money is created from nothing in fiat systems).

Can each of you do us all a favor? This weekend, talk to at least 1 person about bitcoin. See if they're aware of it, accepting of the idea, or even using it.

If we all talk about it it will slowly become less foreign. We'll educate people. We'll help push adoption!
175  Other / Off-topic / Re: DO YOU HAVE 1 BITCOIN? on: November 11, 2015, 04:16:22 PM
I keep hearing about how it's not easy to get 1 btc!?!?! 3/4 of this damn thread gambled all their money away trying to "double up". It's crazy, the people using this tech are supposed to be smart and this entire forum is filled with morons.

Jesus @(*&%*(#% christ.

You've all had like 3 years to scrap together $250 dollars... there are guys in India making a few cents a day who managed to get a full bitcoin over the last few years and yet, this entire thread is filled with people who "support BTC" but have only .003 BTC!>>!!?

Come on guys, cut me a break.

Who doesn't have 1?
Bitcoin newbies, non bitcoin users and right now , me Cheesy

Its not that easy to get 1 btc(unless you'll buy some) nowadays, so definitely there's some that don't have 1 btc yet (especially those who just want to earn btc)

A lot of ppl on this forum are from developing countries, are young, or are new to bitcoin...that's why you see so many posts of ppl that have dust in their wallets.

Do you think someone with 20 or 50 bitcoin is going to waste their time announcing it on this thread? No. If you aant to know how much ppl have start a poll so it can be responded to anonymously.

Heavy emphasis on the importance of the blockchain too
177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Video: Bitcoin in 3 minutes on: November 11, 2015, 04:06:41 PM
We should put these videos for newbies on a dingle thread so they are easy to accesd!
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still keep a fiat retirement account? on: November 11, 2015, 04:05:08 PM
absolutely, it is very important to have a retirement account.

yes but you can have it in bitcoin that has a high chance of an appreciation in value, were fiat will only get less value in the future, this si a fact

That's why you should leave thr money in your retirement account in cash/fiat. You should convert it from fiat into ownership in stocks, companies that will appreciate over time.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still keep a fiat retirement account? on: November 11, 2015, 04:03:38 PM
i dont own a retirement account lol, thats like hiding money for future use, why not just invest it so your money earns you money.

Investing money so it earns more money is EXACTLY what a retirement account is! Plus, you usually get to avoid paying taxes on it if you put it in a retirement account.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indonesian now in the top 10 bitcoin market in world... on: November 11, 2015, 03:59:13 PM
Taking advantage of price arbitrage hurts the exchanges, the companies making bitcoin liquid for us and new users. Don't screw our own ppl for your personal gain!
