Nice vid. Thanks for posting it.

So John Conner 1:  Fudders 0

Why do none of these people ever delete their comments and apologise for being flat out wrong?

What? Can you elaborate as to why you're coming to that conclusion from reading that? Because I don't see that at all.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone selling NXT for ETH? on: August 13, 2015, 07:50:21 AM
Meme's a meme bud. It shows you're shook.

I don't have time to care about nautilushit and the greekshit. Literally, no one cares. There is no breakthrough, just murky language about gold and assets and UK legal entities.

In the meantime, ethereum is reinventing crypto.

The real thing isn't the nautiluscoin here, but the flexibility of the NXT ecosystem. What ETH currently can do that's something what NXT, Qora and a couple of other coins just doing fine since "ages" between many other things. So, please keep the marketing BS for the noobs. Most of us here are interested only in facts, and in fact ETH going to be a great stuff, but not right now. So calm down and get back to the rational thinking.

ETH already has more Devs building on it than the other 2.0 platforms combined.

I've been following several Gen 2.0 forums...
To see if they host intelligent, objective threads about the ETH launch...
Because this tells me a LOT about the communities and whether they are ghettos or have a future.

NXT comes in last... ETH discussion is forbidden... everyone else is RIDICULED...
It's a closed ghetto that stopped growing 12 months ago and is doomed... the price of NXT says it all.

Bitshares hosts both an intelligent thread on ETH... and another one on QORA...
BTS also tolerates a HUGE amount of constructive critricism about BTS which leads to positive change.

MAID is the easy winner... viewing ETH as a complimentary system with many threads like these:

SUMMARY

The ETH launch has made me completely rethink Gen 2.0... and move NXT to dead-end status.

The BEST post I have read in months! Agreed to everything you have said. NXT VOLUME is pretty much only traded on Polo, and being one of their full time trolls, I can only say that we have absolutely no interest in NXT... NONE! And guess what, nobody outside of the crypto-world cares either. Why? We all know the bags will take years to dump, so why buy it? Because it has a cool UI?
Because it has a grass root movement? Keep on dreamin guys. Ethereum, MAID, BTS are way better choices. They have money, and connections. NXT has a few guys in their basement. And you want me to trust you guys with my money?

In my experience with the NXT community, which is mostly on the SuperNET slack(but that's a lot of people and activity) people are generally pretty interested in Ethereum. There's a dedicated channel for it and lots of talk about how it can be integrated in to SuperNET, as well as how NXT and ETH will coexist. There's a lot of traders there as well, so lots of talk about the post launch dump and such, but that's just standard shop talk and not related to anything to do with the tech. They even set up a Superether asset that was insured up 100 BTC I think to give people a reliable safe place to purchase ETH before it was live on the blockchain.

So maybe the forums are different story like you said, but to me the reality of the day to day activity for lots of people involved in NXT and SuperNET is quite different than the picture you're painting here. Some people might be pretty annoyed at the moment because a certain whale(LSUM) is unloading a big chuck of NXT, but that's not really a big deal at all and better for the long term health and distribution anyway.

i am slowing trying to recoup loses :/

Not trying to be mean, but what were you thinking? Everyone in the Bitcoin community was shouting at the top of their lungs for people to get out of that scam.
no its a fair enough question Smiley i started my altcoin/ bitcoin experience on hashtalk, i briefly came here but i quickly migrated there, i was seduced by the smooth cloud mining interface and got sucked in very quickly. i eventually only heard all the good things and went into denial about the bad stuff. i was incredibly new and i treat my loses as a lesson Cheesy

Ok, I see. Starting out on hashtalk would definitely make it hard for someone to get out of the echo chamber that it was. I hope the experience didn't sour you too much. There are a lot of scams out there, but also a lot of good projects and hard working honest people as well.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it true that Vanillacoin uses the BTC code? on: August 12, 2015, 06:16:30 PM
Is it true BTC is based on Bitgold?

In terms of code? No, it's not.

In terms of general concept and idea? Probably.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone selling NXT for ETH? on: August 12, 2015, 06:14:10 PM
Who other than LSUM is unloading large amounts of NXT?

He always liquidates NXT in large amounts anyway, so it's not out of character and it may or may not be to buy ETH.

Hal Finney was the first to point out the 0 confirmation double spend attack. And it's named the 'Finney Attack' in his honour.

I think it's safe to say with absolutely certainty that he is not Hal Finney.

And the fact that he would claim this was his own doing is extremely concerning and I'd advise people to be suspicious of someone making these sorts of claims that are both without evidence, and impossible anyway.

Well, my question from two weeks ago is still open. Anyone who could answer it, please? Thanks!

As a big Boolberry holder, I am wondering if Boolberry will still be a part of SuperNET since I did not read anything on the last SuperNET newsletters?

It's still part of SuperNET yes. It's up to the community to continue to support it and make it more prominent if they wish. I think BBR will be becoming more active again soon, but that's just my personal opinion.

Also, I believe James as been continuing to upgrade the privacy related SuperNET tech and he's been testing some new innovations in that area. So other than the obvious BBR being an on ramp to using anonymity with SuperNET, anything other than that will still have to made more clear as the systems get more finalized.

Why bother logging in if you are not going to post?

Maybe to check or reply to PMs?

That is very possible.

In the meantime, everyone should keep mining boolberry and developing services to support its growth. Keep contacting shapeshift.io and ask them to add BBR. We need to make spending BBR easier

We also need a market maker on both bittrex en poloniex

If there is no active developer, it is a dead coin. We need a takeover.

CZ is still around and there's no one better. Community needs a kick start perhaps though.

Why is there no one better than CZ? I still don't get this argument as, it seems, there are plenty of highly skilled developers around.

There may be lots of skilled developers around, but when it comes to Cryptonote there are only a few who are really familiar with the code base. And I think all of those people are already preoccupied with their own projects. And having witnessed how well CZ has been able to handle emergencies and attacks, I think having one CZ is far more valuable than having even 5 outsiders come and try to start from scratch and learn this somewhat notoriously odd code base from scratch. Plus, it's not like he's disappeared or anything. He's still around here.

While there's work to be done on BBR itself, growth is more likely to come from 3rd parties building things to increase activity. It's not like anyone needs permission from CZ to keep BBR growing. We're probably at an impasse now where people who want to build things are nervous that CZ has abandoned BBR, and CZ himself is not sure if there's enough interest still in BBR to continue. So it's a chicken and egg situation.

It seems like they're only in use by shitty Web page choose-your-own-adventure click fests... I'd love for a 3d mmo game on mobile (using game credits as in-game currency)!

Devs, get on this.....!

What are you talking about? There's no game like that that I've seen that uses GMC.

Although anyone can use GMC of course since it's free and open.

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ [GMC] GameCredits • A Multi-Platform Gaming Currency [GMC]★ on: August 10, 2015, 05:45:37 PM
If you guys can get Supercell, that would be beserk.
They have the right mindset by making killing addictive games,
while in-game purchases seem to be very attractive.
For instance HayDay; lots of people play, but you'll need a CC .
This is where GMC kicks in.

gl

Yeah, they're a good one. Clash of Clans is very well designed in my opinion. It's very simple and easy to get in to, but there's a lot of underlying strategy for players who want to get serious. And the in-game purchases are straight forward and not forced on people.

Nice, thanks to dbkeys for supporting the coin. Zerotime? masternodes?

Not sure exactly what they have planned yet, but I'd assume that it's something that will end up getting the blockchain moving again to start with. Slack is probably the best place to get the latest info on that stuff. If anyone still needs a slack invite let me know and I'll get one for you sent to an email address you choose.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nothing-at-Stake & Long Range Attack on Proof-of-Stake (Consensus Research) on: August 09, 2015, 09:53:30 PM
Can anyone link me to some criticism of these claims by qualified people? I'm especially interested in a rebuttal to the claim that long range NaS attacks are not possible in the system that kushti has defined in his and his group's research.

I think long range is not possible because rolling checkpoints. Also when downloading a new chain there is a trust system so you download from a trusted source. Rolling checkpoints are nice but create the risk of dividing the network. A fork larger than the largest allowed reorganization would not be resolved and the network would split.

I remember Bitcoin itself was using checkpoints at one time, not too long ago too. Haven't heard much about that in a while. Do you or anyone else know if they are still in use at all?

Block Reward: 20 BTM (visual)
Block Time: 120 Seconds
Block Maturity: 720 Blocks (~1 day) to discourage multipools
Block Halving: Reward halves every 3 years, with intermediate decrease every 18 months (20 coins initially, 15 after 1.5 years, 10 after 3 years, etc...)
Difficulty Retargeting: 720 Blocks (~1 day)
Total Coin Supply: ~27.58 million (27,579,894.73108000 exactly)

difficulty Retargeting: 720 Blocks (~1 day)

really?

I understand that this prevents miners from dumping, but doesn't this make the coin really slow in terms of a transaction?

When not enough people are mining it relative to the difficulty it does make it very slow, yes.

For a while we had some community members theorizing on solutions to that problem, and now a new dev with lots of cryptocurrency experience has been hired by dbkeys specifically to try to implement something new I believe.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ask me anything about NXT! on: August 07, 2015, 05:18:36 PM
How is nxt not an instamine ico scam?

Because it was public and open for two months. And NXT doesn't have mining, so the term instamine doesn't apply anyway.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scorex - Ultracompact Cryptocurrency Engine for Researchers on: August 07, 2015, 04:17:43 PM
never heard of this scam before must be new looking to get rich quick

LOL. Did you actually read the post to see what this is?
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ask me anything about NXT! on: August 06, 2015, 08:00:25 PM

The Big Kahunas at NXT will never understand or want (A)... so I don't trade there anymore.

What makes you say that they wouldn't want A?

And even if that were true for whatever reason, InstantDEX is coming soon which is aimed at opening the door to make A a reality.
