601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: October 20, 2014, 04:44:20 PM
nice
basic question, if a ring signature transaction on supernet is made, does supernet use boolberries from their 10% stake? isn't 10% a bit low or will berries also be bought by supernet?

They will be bought as part of the transaction. This is one of the reasons that superNET can be a great benefit for BBR. As BBR's transaction outputs are anonymous there will likely be a large demand from users of other currencies such as NXT, VRC, BTCD ect. They use Teleport to protect them on the way in and BBR takes care of the output.
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 20, 2014, 04:39:50 PM
Yeah, no new information about XMR withdrawals. Just hope for the best, think the worst.

One issue now is that "Alex Green" is the only one who controls the withdraws and apparently he's gone AWOL. Sad

https://twitter.com/MintPalExchange/status/523939006988701696

Lets hope he's not a complete asshole and he makes sure people get their money back.

Was XMR being traded as a pair during the short run of "v2"? If not then that's a good thing as people were duplicating coins via an exploit and I assume tons of coins were lost that way.
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Maieutice Snowball | Game Changing Hardware on: October 20, 2014, 01:08:13 PM
Stand alone staking hardware is actually a pretty good idea. Not bad. Smiley
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Short on Cannabiscoin on: October 20, 2014, 12:53:49 PM
Find an escrow here, make an arrangement with someone to borrow some and also add some additional BTC to cover any losses.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: October 20, 2014, 11:56:12 AM
excited how supernet integration will do, james has been absent in this thread for a while..

He's been working on development. He's been posting regular updates in the superNET thread on here. Probably best to follow there I think.
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Aeon coin - CryptoNight - CPU only on: October 20, 2014, 11:03:48 AM
Community take overs whether "hostile" or assisted by the original dev(s) are important as a proof of concept for decentralised cryptocurrencies.

I don't mean to fud, but whoever this jl777 person is, I don't trust anymore anonymous or semi-anon devs and the people working with them after what happened with Mintpal. I hope he comes out of his/her darkness and show who or she really is. People say NHZ is just a clone, but there is development going on by completely reachable REAL people. I think I'm not the only one concerned about this. Plus, there is the suspicion about the economic model, nxt distribution....I'm sorry, but after the massive price drop of both nxt and supernet I'm out.
And even worse, I've just read the issue with bluemeanie. Some things just don't pan out easily.
I'm sorry for the fanboys/girls invplved here. May the cryptoforce be with you.

The difference here is that moolah was a centralised organization controlled by one person who was not anonymous. SuperNET is intended to be a decentralised organization not controlled by anyone in particular but by its shareholders. While we currently rely on James individually to translate his idea in to code, in the long run superNET is not intended to completely rely on any one individual person.

The concept of a 'real person' is incredibly over rated. Moolah was a 'real company' run by 'real people'. Bluemeanie is a 'real person' who stole one million NXT from the NXT community. The creator(?)/developer of NHZ stole 28 million of the 100 million NHZ community funds and dumped them on Poloniex for himself.

Names are overrated. Actions speak louder than words. Decentralised risk is safer than centralised risk. SuperNET in the process of organizing itself in a decentralised way where both work, money, and incentive is spread out between members of the organization.
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are still taking way too long. on: October 19, 2014, 06:12:38 PM
Two minutes is still too short. On average one in 120 blocks will, at minimum get orphaned, however it will be likely be much greater.

You don't think that it's an acceptable trade off to increase usability of the currency though?
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: coming soon.. on: October 19, 2014, 05:27:45 PM
Spoetnik, CIYAM is not your average guy here. He's been developing open source software for a long time and has been here a while. I wouldn't expect any sort of pump from integrating this tech. This is more of a long term thing for the future. As people want to use blockchains for more advanced things tech like this will let people do it. And the fact that anyone will be able implement this AT tech is pretty amazing and can only be a good thing for alt currency development.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Aeon coin - CryptoNight - CPU only on: October 19, 2014, 05:15:30 PM
It is OK to pick someone coin,  without his consent? I think NO.  Huh

lol...actually this is the whole point of decentralised cryptocurrency. Cheesy

What if clone thing replaces supernet?  Shocked

Which is the clone?

What is everyone talking about, that supposed to kill SuperNET? Could someone please provide a link?

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/xcurrency-introduces-internet-blockchains-blocknet/

And it's not a clone. Can't clone a unfinished product.

Well it's clearly based on the same idea of creating a p2p network of blockchains. Much of the code for superNET is already finished anyway so it's not like it's still in the conceptual stage at this point or anything.

James' superNET is a revolutionary idea in cryptocurrency. It was inevitable that other people would attempt to use that idea. It's not bad thing. I don't understand the attempts to play it down as if the idea behind blockNET isn't based upon the same foundation as James' idea for superNET.

XC also has a clearly defined marking arm which obviously has done a fairly good job of getting the word out through their graphical documentation and media outreach. So I give them kudos for that. That's probably something that needs to be developed with superNET from the business angle. Something will have to be figured out to merge the concept of an open source decentralised organization and a profit seeking business at some point. I believe XC has been run like a business from the start for better or worse, which is a bit different in this community. So over time superNET will have to adapt to the challenges of running a multimillion dollar decentralised organization focused on generating maximum revenue for shareholders. But I'm very optimistic with regards to that because we have a great community of capable people. Smiley

yet more complicated bullshit to get your ass IPO'd

so uhh NXT guys buckle up for the dump Wink

I believe it will be a case of tortoise and the hare but Qora WILL take over NXT, I've zero doubt. Why use an inferior product unless your one of those guys who like using Myspace, Betamax and 8Track. LOL.

In which ways is Qora superior to NXT?

Umm everthing...

Gonna be quicker for you to come up with why NXT is superior to Qora.....good luck with that.

It was an honest question. I'm curious about Qora. Odd way to answer someone. I don't know enough about Qora to make a comparison.
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are still taking way too long. on: October 19, 2014, 04:40:53 PM
There's an alt called FastCoin. They do 12 second blocks. I haven't checked if that was the case though, just what I've read about them.
A very good example of why it is not good to have short confirmation times is on the ghash multipool. They have live updates as to how many confirmations each found block of each altcoin has. They often have very long chains of coins going from orphaned to confirmed and back again. The chains are often 10 or more blocks long

Yeah, there's a sweet spot and 12 seconds with the current codebase is almost certainly much to fast. I'd guess 2 minutes is the sweet spot, but I'd like to see some data on that too. There's a limit of how many orphans should be acceptable and how much hash gets wasted in the name of user experience for sure. I do think that number is blow 10 minutes though.
614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmark on: October 19, 2014, 12:43:48 PM
x-hash seems to be stuck for weeks now on any coins moving into confirmation mode. i've literally had coins just sitting there for a few weeks now in unconfirmed mode.

Is it time to call the a scam site yet, or can someone explain why they aren't communicating a response to this issue.

For now I would not mine anything to them , as they are not paying out.

they need to be held accountable if they are stealing or scamming!

Woah, woah, woah. Xhash is not a scam site. This is simply due to the Bitmark protocol requiring 720 blocks for block maturity.

I keep asking about the scheme that was supposed to avoid this situation by supporting the nethash and I'm still waiting for a reply.

That's a valid question and worth discussing if you'd like. Not sure now much demand there would be for people to fund the IPM at this point.

Hashing should increase as demand increases though and right now there are multiple projects being worked on that are focused on increasing adoption via marking.

The holy grail for a difficulty algorithm would be one that could restrict supply and lower the difficulty based on price(demand). That way we would get all the benefits that we get now, but without the very slow network. I guess most people think such an algorithm would be too easily exploitable. But maybe one day with DACs or something similar something like that could happen.

616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are still taking way too long. on: October 18, 2014, 12:53:13 PM
I do think that could be improved if it was about 10 seconds each time that would help a lot in marketing it but then I think most people know that.

Ethereum is going to attempt 12 second confirmations from what I understand. https://blog.ethereum.org/2014/07/11/toward-a-12-second-block-time/

Will Bitcoin be able to adapt that technology with our current system or is this something that requires a full rewrite from the ground up?
617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: shits about to get real ladies and gentlemen. the new economy starts now. on: October 18, 2014, 12:43:53 PM
There are too many snr and hero members who talk like trolls here, if you don't know sh** than better don't talk and make fun of yourself. NEM clone of NXT lol Troll Harder...
I don't think that was fud.. Just missinformation that stems from nems earliest days.. You will probably find many people think the same but not know that things have changed.

Sorry but the opinion of these Senior and Hero Members matter a lot and if they start talking without any research than we cant blame the newbie trolls. FUD is a FUD and one should always talk with full responsibility but the problem is here no one cares about that.

How could you possibly interpret that statement as "FUD"?

He gave his opinion based on outdated information. It was originally correct, but now it's apparently not.

That's quite the over reaction if I've ever seen one.

As if being a fork of NXT is inherently a bad thing. Roll Eyes
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Aeon coin - CryptoNight - CPU only on: October 18, 2014, 12:12:45 PM
Aeon, do you have any connection to Bytecoin or the Cryptonote team?

619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: shits about to get real ladies and gentlemen. the new economy starts now. on: October 18, 2014, 11:12:04 AM
Is it written from scratch entirely now? I thought it was a fork of NXT with significant changes/additions.

Why start from scratch? NXT has been around almost  a year now and seems pretty solid.

I think it's asinine to use the Starbucks example when a grocery store checkout line is a more Universal scenario.  The products aren't paid for until after they are scanned and a final price is reached.  Now you have all those people waiting in line...

There is a supermarket chain here (I actually shop there occasionally) that has it's own credit card. It's not Visa or Mastercard, it's their own card. Sort of like a membership card. You are assigned a credit limit, and they bill you for your purchases that month.

That's a real life example of how an establishment can use it's own version of off-chain transactions.

Either you pay the monthly or weekly bill in BTC, or you pre-pay and load up the card with BTC.

I could see this happening on a large scale in a future dominated by a handful of corporate groups. Like you have your Starbucks card, Walmart card, McDonalds card all bought with BTC at a discount. That is sort of happening already with Gyft. But it kind of breaks down in economies not dominated by a few mega corps. No one wants hundreds of cards. Perhaps that can be solved with small businesses groups creating their own cards or something.
